Day 660

We didn't get up until 8:30 today.  After pet stuff nd breakfast Ellen went out to shoot with the folks from CA.  I figured they would have fun if it was all girls.  So I stayed home and surfed.

About 11:30 I went over to the clubhouse.  I walked over to the freeway first to check the berries.  They're great.  Ellen was helping on the computer.  So I killed some more time surfing.  About 1 she was done and we went home for lunch.

After lunch it was errand time.  I went to the tire store to see about tires for the trailer.  They have them, but access may cause a little problem.  I'm going to try it though.  The next stop was Wally World for some food (crackers, drink flavor, and frozen food) that Roth's doesn't have.  Then it was Roth's to get the rest.  The last stop was the post office.

The rear view camera for the Ranger was at the post office.  I went outside and planned out the install.  I didn't want to start work because it was hot, mid 90's.  Instead I went to the shed, did my exercises, and reloaded the 20 ga that Ellen had shot.

By that time it was dinner.  After dinner I watched a little TV and then Lucy wanted to go on a walk.  So we walked around the course.  Ellen said it was too hot (85) to go.  When we got back it was more TV.  It's still 80 otside and it's after 9.  It may be a warm night.

The rest of the night was surfing.

Day 659

We got up at 6:30 again today.  After pet stuff and breakfast we were at the club by 7.  There wasn't really anything to do until abot7:45.  Then we went to the tower parcour.  Dave was there and I helped him figure out how to make it shootable with the sun.  Then I pulled targets there for the first rotation.

When we got done I talked cars with Xxxx.  He told us about a new Porsche that we might want to look at in the fall.  He also had this cool drone he's been taking marketing pictures with.

We ate lunch at home.  The combination of hamburger and pizza hit me hard yesterday night.  I don't think I can eat a lot of that crap any more.  It's too bad, they had BLT's today.

We surfed until it was time to shoot at 2.  I really sucked.  I can't remember when I shot this bad two days running.  Ellen did really good.

There wasn't anything to do afterwards, so we sat in the club for awhile and then went home to take showers.  In the evening we went to Canby to eat dinner with Dave, Vandy, and their friends from CA.

After that it was surfing and going to bed early.

Day 658

We got up at 6:30.  After pet stuff and breakfast we went to the club.  At 8 Ellen referred FITASC.  I stood around waiting for something to break - it didn't.  I watched the first and second squads shoot.  I helped Ellen pull on the third squad.  Then we went in for lunch - my first hamburger in months.

After lunch we just sort of hung around until shooting 28 ga FITASC at 2.  I really, really, sucked.  The targets weren't hard, I just didn't hit them.  When we were finished I helped Dave reset the super sporting and FITASC targets.  We did as little as possible.  That took until a little before 6.

Dave sent me off to Abby's for pizza.  That was my first pizza in months.  I liked the hamburger, I could take or leave the pizza.  After that we talked for awhile and then I left to take a shower.  The rest of the evening was surfing and reading.

Day 657

Ellen got me up today a little after 8  I didn't want to get up, but it was time to.  We did pet stuff and had breakfast.  After a little surfing We headed to the club.  Ellen had a lesson at 10, but they slipped it to 11.  We hung around and talked to people.  About 11:15 Stocker John showed up.  Luckily he had to see someone who was getting a lesson.  That menat that he had to hang around until Ellen was done.

Ellen got done about 12:30.  I got her gun and Stocker measured it.  Then he took the stock with him to cut.  He said it should be back to us on Wednesday.  Ellen had another lesson at 1, so she had a quick lunch and I had a longer one involving surfing and some shopping.

About three I went back to the club.  I found Dave doing menus for FITASC.  I went around with him.  When he was done we set the super sporting stations.  The final bit of work was for me to shoot a few targets so the new referees could practice a little.

Lucy got a lot of running in while we were in the field.  She kept running off after the kid who was using our old rig. One time she followed him half way around the course and had to back track to find me.  I was proud of her.  She's a real tired doggy tonight.

Ellen went out to dinner while I was doing that.  I went back home and had dinner there.  The evening was surfing and reading.

Day 656

We got up at 8 today.  I didn't really want to, but staying in bed is not a good option.  After pet stuff and breakfast we did some surfing.  I wanted to practice with the 20 ga, so I got it out and we went to the 5-stand.  Ellen used her new gun.  She shot it pretty well considering it's too long.

When we were done Ellen signed up to do two lessons tomorrow.  That seemed like a good idea until we learned that Stocker will be here tomorrow.  Vandy won't let Ellen take a break during a lesson, so it's unlikely that Stocker will be able to measure her to cut the stock.  Oh well.  We went home for lunch and I ordered a backup camera on Amazon.

Alan wanted Ellen to print out some files on her phone, but the computer wasn't working.  I worked with her for quite awhile to get it working.  We finally did.  Then Dave asked me to pick up his (used to be ours) Ranger at Joe's, so I did.  I took the opportunity to pick up our mail also.

When I got back I went home and reloaded the 20 ga that I'd shot.  Then we went to the BMW dealer to look at cars.  They have one that is a contender.  We also stopped at Cadillac.  We thought that their SUV might be a fit, but it's too expensive and we are really leaning towards a car.

The last stop was Roth's.  Then we got home where everyone had a late dinner.

After dinner I wanted to do something, so I went to the shed and did some more hardware sorting.  I didn't get it all done, but I made a good dent in it.

Wednesday, July 26, 2017

Day 655

We got up at 8 today.  That's because I forgot to turn off the alarm yesterday.  We did the pet stuff, had breakfast, and then went on another trek to Portland.  We stopped at Jones & Jones to pick up our rings.  We also talked with him about the pendant design.  We liked one of his ideas a lot, but we changed some of it.  We also talked with him for a long time.

After that we took Lucy to the pet store.  She got some treats and we bought a couple of cans of food for the cats to try out.  By then it was lunch time.  We went to a little cafe that had one outside table.  They had good food and service.  They also had the best baklava I've had since Mom's.

By then it was past 1.  I told the GPS to take us to the Cadillac dealer.  It took us on some back roads I'd never been on before, but it got us there fast.  We saw their A4 equivalent.  It looks nice.  Ellen's asshole was acting up or we would have stopped at BMW.  They're just down the street.

We stopped at the post office on the way home.  It wasn't 2 yet, but 217 was a parking lot by Allen and Denny.

We stopped at the club when we got back.  I finally got Ellen to buy the 12 ga Syren.  Alan came in to install more shelves in the gun room.  They really improved the place.  We went home to eat dinner and feed the pets after 5.

After dinner I wanted to go shooting, but Ellen's asshole wasn't up to it.  I couldn't even shoot the CO2 pistol because today was "shoot until dark" day and there were people on the course.  So I went to the shed and cleaned it up a little.  Then I spent hours sorting hardware.  The last thing was exercising.

The rest of the evening was surfing.

Tuesday, July 25, 2017

Day 654

We got up at 7:30 today.  Actually I got up at 7:45 because I didn't hear the alarm.  After pet stuff and breakfast we hit the road.  Lucy stayed home because it was going to be in the 90's today.

We were done with the wash by 10 or so.  I went to the bank and put the Ranger title in the safe deposit box while the washing was being done.  I called Mom while the clothes were drying.  She didn't answer.  I called her again about 20 minutes later as we were leaving and she answered.

We stopped at Hooch's place and did the chores there.  It was nice to not have to fuck with the pond.  Then it was off to Mom's place.

When we got there Mom was complaining about the blinds not working.  It turned out to be operator error.  I showed her how to do it, I hope she remembers.  We also tried to convince her to give up girdles.  We threw one away, but she was wearing the other one.  I hope she got the message, but I wouldn't bet on it.

We took her to a Chinese place for lunch.  That will be the last time.  She only ate half her lunch, which means she doesn't like Chinese food.

The next stop was the Columbia outlet store.  She didn't find anything she wanted to buy, but out found about $200 worth of stuff.  It included 2 pairs of pants with smaller sizes.  The ones I have now are getting too big.

The last stop was the bank to get her new credit car enabled.  We tried to do it over the phone, but something screwed up and it locked us out.

It was 3 and Mom was really tired by then.  We took her home.  Then it was time to face traffic.  217 and I5 by Tualatin both had accidents.  I took 158th, Murray, Allen, and Hall to 217 and stopped at the Best Buy there.  Their website said they had a computer I wanted in stock.  They didn't.  After that we took Hall down to Durham, then Boone's Ferry to I5.  We got back on just after the backup, so it was clear sailing.  We stopped at Fry's to look at computers, but they didn't have any that interested me.

After a stop at the post office we got home.  It was after 6 and in the low 90's, so we just sat in the trailer, had dinner, and surfed.  About 8 I went out and walked around the course.  I did the last three minutes at a really fast walk to make up for not exercising.

The rest of the evening was more surfing.

Monday, July 24, 2017

Day 653

We got up at 8 today.  Joe was due at 9:30 and I wanted to make sure that we were ready if he came early.  He didn't, bt he was right on time.  We id the pet stuff, had breakfast, and surfed while we waited for him.

Joe brought his son with him.  He's teaching him how to be a mechanic.  The kid seems interested.  Joe said that the axel didn't need replacing.  He needed seals for the other three wheels, and I told him to pull one of them, because the one that was replaced was probably different.  When he did, we looked at one of the bearings.  It was beginning to fail, not from lack of maintenance, but just because it was cheap Chinese shit.

That sent Joe off on a search for bearings and seals.  About that time Dave started cutting up the tree that was blocking the driveway.  I went out and helped.  We worked for at least 4 hours.  Dave cut stuff up and I hauled it away on the trailer and piled it on the burn pile.  We got most of the tree that can be moved by hand done.  The rest will require a big chainsaw and the tractor.

Joe came back while I was working.  He was almost finished when Dave and I got done.  He found damaged bearings on all three of the other wheels, so he replaced them all.  The bill came to $580.  I'm fine with that.

Vandy bought me lunch.  After a shower I ate it with Dave at the club.  Dave went off to do paperwork and I went over to the people by the wellhouse.  Ellen was there and we talked with them for a couple of hours.

After dinner we went to Petsmart for Taiko food and Roth's for human food.  The rest of the evening was surfing.

Sunday, July 23, 2017

Day 652

We were up by 8 today even though we didn't have anywhere to go.  We did the pet stuff and breakfast and then surfed for awhile.  Ellen had a lesson at 11.  I discovered that I'd lost my Benchmade knife.  I spent a lot of time looking everywhere for it.  I'm pretty sure I left it on the back table in the club.  I don't know what happened to it after that.  I didn't find it.

Garrett and Gerry showed up after that, so we went shooting with them.  The weather was perfect and we had a good time.  We were done about 1 and went back to the trailer for lunch.  Lucy had been limping on the course.  We found a thorn in her pad when we got back.  She was really happy to get it out.

After lunch I decided to go to Cabela's to get another knife.  I had a 10% off coupon.  Traffic northbound sucked.  It was backed up from before Donald all the way to Wilsonville.  Luckily when we got there they had the knife.  We spent quite awhile shopping there, but only bought a case of 20 ga on sale and a North Face light sweatshirt.

In addition to 10% off, we got some other discount on the sweatshirt.  The $85 sweatshirt ended up costing us $57.  SCORE!

The traffic was much better on the way home.  We stopped at the club and Ellen ordered new earplugs ($2,100).  We had a good time talking until they closed.

We went home and had dinner.  Afterwards I went out and reloaded the 20 ga.  I also did my exercises.  Vandy came by while I was doing that and told Ellen she'd sell the earplugs to her at cost.  Neither of us like that idea.  After all, we want them to be successful.  I'm not sure what to do about that right now.

The rest of the evening was surfing while Ellen watched TV.

Saturday, July 22, 2017

Day 651

We got up a little late today, around 9.  We did the pet stuff and had breakfast.  Then we went to Silverton.

We stopped at the farmer's market and bought some strawberries and some whole wheat bread.  I noticed a second hand store next door that I hadn't seen last week.  I went there while Ellen sat in the park with the dog.  I scored.  I found a rabbit statue, a coll lighthouse plaque, and a porcelain model of Yaquina Head lighthouse.  They were all at less than estate sale prices.

After that we took our purchases back to the car and walked around town.  We went to a couple of more antique stores, a pawn shop, and an art gallery.  Then we ate at the same place we did last week.  It was still good food and beer.

When we got home we gave Vandy a pint of strawberries.  Then we went out with Gerry to shoot the 5-stand.  I borrowed the F3 I like.  It's a nice gun, but it's barrel is too long (32 inches).  Also, I'd need to get a soft touch for it.  After less than 75 rounds my shoulder hurt and my head ached.

It was late in the afternoon when we finished.  We went back to the club and talked for awhile.  I changed the battery in Vandy's computer.  Some people came in just before closing ans scheduled a lesson with Ellen for tomorrow morning.  That was cool.

We went home after 6 and had dinner.  Then I went out and filled the water tank.  I also reloaded the 20 ga Ellen shot, fixed the broken clamp on the battery charger, and did my exercises.  It was hot, and I was sweating when I was done.  This is the first evening where it didn't cool off at night.  It's 10 and the temp is still 79.

I'll do a little surfing and then go to sleep.

Friday, July 21, 2017

Day 650

We woke up at 7:15, but didn't get out of bed until 8.  Ellen was feeling friendly this morning.  I got her shirt off and we fooled around a little.  Kind of like what we did in high school.  Oh well, it's better than nothing.

When we got up it was pet stuff, breakfast and a short surfing session. The first thing I did was assemble the hose reel I bought yesterday.  I wanted to get it one early so that I could throw the old one in the dumpster before the garbage truck came.  I was successful.  The new reel Is great.  No more having it tip over every time I use it.

Then I went to work on the Ranger.  I rewired the courtesy light.  That wasn't bad.  Then I pulled off the dash and rewired the switch.  That was a lot harder.  After that it was time to start connecting the new wiring.  I got the wires measured for the delay switch and soldered them onto the switch.  By then it was time for lunch.

After lunch Ellen's asshole was acting up.  So I went back outside and installed the delay switch.  Then I put in the timer box.  I kept on running and attaching some of the wires to the box.  While I was doing that Heppner and his friend came out to cut the trees by the pond.  They had it done in half an hour.  It was impressive.  I don't know what Dave is planning on doing to clean up the mess.

After the tree falling we went to Jones Farm to get some berries.  Then we stopped for the mail and went into Woodburn to deposit a check.

When we got back I went back to work on the Ranger.  I finished the wiring (all the wiring took awhile because of some splicing, attaching the connectors, and putting heat shrink around the connectors).  The last step was to put many of the wires in wire looms.  I didn't get done until after 6.

After lunch I watched a little TV.  I didn't do any exercises today, so I took the dog for a quick walk.  I was done in a little over 18 minutes, compared to 24 when I walking normally.

The rest of the evening was surfing.

Thursday, July 20, 2017

Day 649

We kind of slept in this morning - until after 9.  Then it was pet stuff and breakfast.  I called Joe and he said he'd come out today.  Then I went out to continue the radio project.

I finished wiring the speakers.  That turned out well with only a little difficulty.  Then I went to the shed to test out the timer.  That went well once I figured out that the Chinese instructions had an error in them.  It only took moving one jumper to change from "what the hell is wrong" to "everything works perfectly".

I reloaded 20 ga while I waited for the timer to delay half an hour before turning off.  The time adjustment wasn't marked, so I had to guess on the setting based on where it needed to be set for a shorter interval.  I set it at 34 minutes rather than 30 - pretty good.

The next step was to install the antenna.  I drilled the hole and then had Ellen come out to hold the bottom part while I attached the top part on the roof.  Things did not go well.  There was some drama before I realized that the damn Chinese had included a mounting screw that was too short.

That ended work on the radio.  I went in to have lunch and Ellen went to the club to work on shoot setup and website.  I went back out and did some cleanup, but then there wasn't anything I could really do.  So I went back inside and surfed, waiting for Joe to show up.

About 4:15 Joe called to say he wouldn't be coming.  He promised to come Monday morning at 9:30.  We'll see.  That did allow us to leave.  We went to Woodburn and made four stops - Walgreen's for Ellen's drugs, ACE for a screw, Chinese place for takeout, and Baumann's for berries.  We needed to be back before the 6:30 board meeting.  I lucked out at ACE.  It only took me less than a minute to find the countersunk, metric, screw I needed.  I also got a great deal on a new metal hose reel to replace the crummy plastic one that's always been a pain in my ass.

When we got back we ate dinner.  Then there was enough time to install the antenna.  It only took a couple of minutes with the right length screw.  I'll hook it to the radio tomorrow.

We went to the board meeting.  The business is starting to do pretty well.  Everything else seems to be OK.

After the meeting we went home and I watched guns shows that were taped while we were at the meeting.  It's nice to fast forward through commercials.

Wednesday, July 19, 2017

Day 648

We were up by 8 today.  After pet stuff and breakfast and some surfing I went outside to work on the Ranger radio install.

The first task was to solder 7 wires to the ends of the pigtails coming out of the radio.  That wasn't hard, but it took some time.  Then I fabricated and installed a couple of brackets to hold the face-plate side of the enclosure lid.  I had to Dremel off the screw bosses on that side to get the radio to fit.  Then It was time to install the radio in the cab.  It fits quite nicely.  The last of the morning activities was to partially install the wire loom for the speaker and power wires.  I couldn't do all of it, until I hook the power leads up to the existing courtesy light wires.

By then it was lunch time.  After lunch we did some errands.  We went to Costco to get some new Sonicare tooth brushes.  I decided to get some water, too.  Then we saw the cool foot massagers.  Ellen said that they felt like they'd help her feet, so we bought one.  Finally we bought a bunch of chips and some cookies for the Eclipse party.  We'll need to buy more stuff later.

The next stop was Walgreen's for my drugs and the bank for money.  We also stopped at Wally World to get an exercise band for Ellen.  We ended up buying a little food and some TP also.  The final stop was the post office.

We got home a little before 4.  I surfed for abut half an hour and then got bored.  I went back outside and cleaned up the work bench and put some of the tools I'd been using away.  I also used the cord from a power strip I'd bought to make a power cord for the 12V power supply I bought.  Then I did my exercises.

After dinner I was bored again.  I took the garbage to the dumpster and the bottles to the recycle.  The dog really wanted to do something, so I walked around the course with her.  It was still daylight when I got back, so I decided to wire the radio power.  I managed to get that done just before it got too dark to work.

The rest of the evening was TV and reading.  Tomorrow I'll finish wiring in the speakers and then I'll test the timer I bought.

Day 647

It's Tuesday, so we were up at 7:30.  We had the pet stuff and breakfast done and were out the door by 8:10.

Washing the clothes was uneventful.  I called Mom and she was up and sounding cheerful.  We stopped at the eye shop and picked up Ellen's glasses.  They look neat.  Then we went over to Hooch's.  I'd forgotten the drill, so it took awhile to fix the pond float.  I had to call Hooch and have him tell where there was a drill.  Apparently he has it in the trailer, but he had a Dremel I could use.

While I was there Primary Arms called.  They wanted to know why they'd gotten the package that FedEx lost back.  I explained that FedEx had their heads up their asses and Primary Arms said they'd reship the package.

We went to Mom's place.  She was dressed to go out, including jewelry.  I cleaned the cat box while Ellen tried to sell her on incontinence underwear.  She seemed to want to try it.

We stopped at the bank to find out why she hadn't received a new credit card.  They claim one was sent out.  They cancelled the card and will send out another.  Unfortunately that leaves Mom without a credit card.  Mom wasn't happy about that.

We ate lunch at a sandwich shop/bakery.  It was pretty good.  We tried to convince Mom to accept help getting up in the morning.  I have no way of knowing if we were successful.  After lunch we stopped at a grocery store for stuff to take to John and Patty's.  We also stoped at a pet store.  Mom bought some cat toys.

After we took Mom home we made a short stop at Audi.  I wanted to see if the A4 had rear seat vents.  It does.  Then I took Ellen and Lucy to John and Patty's.  I spent a few minutes there and then went to the dentist.

I got to the dentist early and they took me right away.  45 minutes later I had a new gold tooth.

When I got back I helped John a little with some work he was doing on the deck.  Mainly I just talked.

We had dinner there and then talked until about 9.  Then it was drive home and go to bed.

Monday, July 17, 2017

Day 646

The lure of the bed is becoming less.  We got up at 8 today.  After pet stuff, breakfast, and a little surfing we left to do errands.  I picked up a prescription at Walgreen's and then we went to Wally World.  We needed new water filters and some groceries.  The last stop was the post office.

When we got home I emailed FedEx to ask if they wanted to do anything before I notified Primary Arms that they had lost the package.  They responded saying they would contact me within 3 days.

The rest of the radio stuff I needed came today.  So after lunch I spent the afternoon on the Ranger radio.  I had to fabricate an enclosure out of a project box.  That took quite awhile.  The result is pretty good though.  Then I mounted the radio in it.  Finally I measured and cut the speaker wires and power wire.  The next step is to solder them to the radio.  I was tired though, and it wasn't fun anymore.  So I did my exercises and then went inside.

I surfed until dinner.  After dinner we went out with Dave, Vandy, Art, and Debe to shoot targets.  They had a game set up where we shot targets at each station from different positions.  It was fun.  We got done about 9.  It was so dark that I couldn't see with my daylight lenses.

When we got back Ellen watched TV and I surfed until bedtime.

Sunday, July 16, 2017

Day 645

Man that bed is hard to get out of.  I woke up at 6:30 this morning, turned over, and was immediately asleep.  That happened a couple of more times before I got up a little after 8.  Then it was pet stuff and breakfast.

The grass has been growing in the gravel.  I should have sprayed it weeks ago, and today I decided it had to be done.  I hooked up the charger to the sprayer battery while I filled the fresh water tank.  I didn't notice that the fileter was clogged, so It too way longer than it should have.

When the tank was filled I filled the sprayer.  I had to do a bit of hand spraying as well as dragging it behind the Ranger.  The Ranger isn't ideal, it doesn't want to go really slow, even in "work" mode.  It took until about noon to finish.

When I got finished I immediately took a shower.  Then I had lunch.  The back of the Ranger was full of garbage, so we drove over to the club house.  We emptied everything out and then sat and talked for awhile.  Andreas went out for tacos and bought me one.  Ellen did some work on the computer and I surfed.  Then we went back home to get guns.  I wanted to shoot some trap.  Ellen decided she wanted to, too.

Unfortunately the 20 ga reloads I made up didn't work.  Most of them were bloopers.  She shot a few and then quit in disgust.  I shot a couple of boxes.

When we were done I took the reloads to the shed to figure out what happened.  It turned out that they didn't have any powder.  I tested the Spolar and it wasn't dropping any powder.  I took it apart and found that the powder bushing and top of the drop tube were clogged with powder.  I unclogged them.  Then I spent half an hour trying to get it back together.  I should have paid more attention when I took it apart.

I spent 2 and a half hours between the reloader and taking apart 75+ reloads.  It was almost 6 when I was finished, so I called it qits for the day.

After dinner I did some shopping, surfing, and reading.  I did quite a bit today, but right now I'm bored.

Saturday, July 15, 2017

Day 644

That bed really is hard to get out of in the morning.  We stayed in it until almost 9.  Then it was pet stuff and breakfast.  After that we left for Silverton to go to the farmer's market.

The market was small, but neat.  We bought cinnamon rols and some more strawberries.  Then we walked along the park next to the market.  There's a river there with a covered pedestrian bridge over it.  Buildings are built right up on the river back.  They're 100 years old.

We stopped at a plant store and bought a plant for Sophia's terrarium.  Then we walked through the town occasionally walking through a store.  The weather was great - 82.  About noon we stopped at a place to eat lunch.  They let the dog sit outside with us.  There were several other dogs there.

After lunch we drove back to Gervais.  We stopped at the grocery store in Silverton on the way for a couple of items.  Of course the package from Primary Arms wasn't there.  If it isn't there Monday I'll tell them I'm reporting it lost.

We stopped at the club when we got back.  We talked for awhile and then I went to the trailer to put the groceries away.  Ellen stayed to help set up the computer for the next shoot.

I spent some time surfing and then went out to reload some more 28 ga.  It went a lot better this time.  When I was finished I cleaned the reloader and oiled it.  I think that it will work a lot better next time.

Ellen didn't come home until 7.  She had the dog, and I'm surprised Lucy hadn't dragged her back earlier.  We had a late dinner and then watched TV.  After that I looked at A4's on the Audi website.  Then it was off to bed.

Friday, July 14, 2017

Day 643

The first night on the new bed was pretty good.  It didn't feel all that different to me, but I did sleep well.  There was no reason to get up early, so Ellen surfed and I slept in.  We got up a little after 9.  After breakfast and pet stuff we went to Sportsman's Warehouse.  We had 10% off coupons from the OHA shoot.

As we got near Sportsman's Warehouse we saw an estate sale sign.  We followed the signs for about a mile.  It turned out to be a good one.  I got a big container of hardware and a couple of small tools.  We also got a couple of ceramic bunnys and a lighthouse fountain for Patty.  The prices were very good.

Then it was back to Sportsman's Warehouse.  They were having a sale on 20 ga sporting ammo, so we bought three cases.  Two were Kent and one was Browning.  We've never used either before, so we'll have to see how they work.  After that we went to the pet store in Keizer to get cat food.  Then we drove up River road to Jones and French Prairie farm stores.  Jones had some strawberries that turned out to taste really good.

When we got home we had a late lunch.  Then I went out to the shed and spent hours sorting hardware.  Then new hardware container holds all of the hardware I have really well.  I used about half the stuff in it and will give the rest to Goodwill.

It was 6:30 when I was done.  I had dinner and then watched TV.  Lucy wanted to walk, so we went around the course.  Then it was a little more TV.  I got bored with that and spent the rest of the evening surfing.

A side note.  FedEx has apparently lost a package from Primary Arms.  It's a $200 order.  I've been conversing with them over email.  I'm not sure if I'm talking to a person or a machine.  It's been in Ellensburg for days now.  If it doesn't move this weekend I'll tell them I'm informing the shipper that they lost it.

Day 642

I didn't want to get out of bed this morning.  The plane started flying at 5, so I was feeling sleep deprived.  We did get up about 9 to do the pet stuff and have breakfast.  I called Joe and he said he'd be over later in the day.  That was good, because we had to wait for the bed.  It was supposed to show up between 1:15 and 3:15.

I went ouitside and installed the speakers in the Ranger.  They fit like they were designed for it.  That was all I could do until some of the stuff I ordered yesterday arrives.  I decided to reload some 28 ga.  That was a disaster.  The reloader didn't work at first until I took it apart.  Then I kept having failures that spilled powder and shot.  I almost wore out the vacuum cleaner.  It took me until after 1 to reload 50 rounds.

I went inside to have lunch.  The delivery guys called and said they'd be there shortly.  I drove over to the club because I can't open the house gate (they changed the lock).  The delivery guys came in the farm gate and called me.  The delivery didn't take long.  The new bed doesn't stink, but the new pillows do.  The pillows went out to the shed until they don't stink.

After the bed was remade we went to the club.  I looked at the F3.  I'd like to buy it, but I really don't need it.  Ellen looked at a 12 ga Syren.  She's quit using the Perazzi because it's too heavy.  She's shooting her 20 ga instead.  We got her Perazzi to compare.  The Syren weighs a pound less.  She wouldn't by it though.

I took a short nap while Ellen talked.  Then we went home for dinner.  Before we ate Ellen got a call to do a lesson, so she went back to the club.  I ate dinner, read, and watched the gun shows.

When Ellen got back we walked around the course with the dog.

The rest of the evening was surfing.

Day 641

We slept in today, didn't get out of bed until almost 9.  Then it was pet stuff and breakfast.  I went out to work on the Ranger radio, but Gerry called wanting to shoot.  So we did that instead.  Craig Rhea came with us.  We had a lot of fun shooting practice.  It took a long time to get around the course, we weren't done until after 1.

After lunch I went back to the radio project.  The first thing I discovered was that Amazon hadn't sent me the switch.  They claimed they had, but they didn't.  I set Ellen on them.  While she was trying to get a hold of them, I finished doing the timer/relay box.  I was all ready to mount the radio when I discovered that the radio housing I ordered was crap.  It was advertised as DIN standard, but it wasn't.  It's way too small and worthless.

That called a halt to the radio.  Instead I reloaded 100 20 ga for Ellen.  At least that went well.  Then I went back inside and looked for more radio mounts on Amazon.  They didn't have any.  They did have "project boxes" though that would fit the bill.  So I ordered a switch, wire, and a box.  I also ordered some alligator clips and a 12V supply for testing the timer/relay.

After dinner I did a little more shopping.  Then I went out and unpacked the speakers.  They look like they will fit well, it was just too dark to install them.  Instead I started to do some 28 ga reloading.  It turns out that I used up both the 20 and 28 powder containers today.  That's OK though, I have 16 pounds of each left.  That's probably a lifetime supply.

By the time I got out more powder and set things up it was after 10.  I decided to go back inside.  I did a little more surfing and went to bed.

Day 640

We woke up at 7:30.  I wanted to get a early start today.  That turned out to be a good thing.  We did the pet stuff, had breakfast, and left to do the wash.

After the wash we drove to Hooch's place.  The water in the pond was very low.  I did some poking around and found that a float valve that controls the level was jammed against a pipe.  The only way to fix it was to devise some way to push the pipe away from the valve.  Of course the only tool I had was my Benchmade knife.  It took three and half an hour to attempts to fashion a strong enough forked branch to do the job.

I called Mom when we left Hooch's.  She didn't answer.  When we got there we rang the doorbell, no answer.  We went back downstairs and convinced them to let us in.  Mom was still in bed.  It turns out she hadn't gotten up, and had pissed the bed.  The next hour and a half were getting her up and getting the bed fixed.  She was crying and all upset.  We did show her where her new underwear was.

We went to lunch at the nearby bar.  While they waited I went back and made sure the pond was OK, it was.  Did I mention that there were flaggers on the road between Hooch's and Mom's?  One more pain in the ass.

After lunch we took Mom to Fred Meyer to get some nightgowns.  I had her buy two.  She also got some cookies and ice cream.  We didn't get back to her place until after 3.  Ellen had the shits, so we spent another half hour there while she sat on the can.

Of course traffic was jammed by the time we left.  217 was a parking lot.  I went down 158th, through BIR, down Murray, the down Scholl's ferry, and through Sherwood to I5.  The traffic wasn't really bad, but it wasn't good.  Of course it took a long time.

We didn't get home until after 5.  I fixed the bathroom sink drain (another pain in the ass) and then had dinner.  After dinner I went out to the shed and continued to work on the timer.  I got the mounting plate mounted to the box and the timer mounted to the plate.  I got 3 of the 4 external connections done.  I stopped before 10 because the bugs were driving me nuts.  I did my exercises and went inside.

After a little surfing I went to bed.

Day 639

We got up about 8 to do the pet stuff and have breakfast.  Then it was a short surfing session before leaving for ortland.  We had haircut appointments at 11 and I wanted to get my new glasses before then.   Just before I left I called about Mom's bill.  I got a hold of someone that told me it had been paid.  I said thanks.

That caused a late start, but we made great time - 70+ on I5, 65+ through Tualitin, and 60+ up 217.  Ellen left me off at the front of the hospital to save more time.  My new glasses are nice, but they will take some getting used to.  The close vision area is much smaller.  That makes reading and the computer harder.  Far vision outside is much better.  I don't have to turn my head as much to see things.

We got back for haircuts in time.  I went to Costco while Ellen was getting her's cut and bought some water  After the haircuts we stopped at a Thai place on 99 and had lunch.  It was pretty good, and the spring rolls were great.

I drove back to Beaverton and stopped at the Porsche dealer.  The Macon is nice and reasonably priced.  Then we went across the parking lot to Audi.  Their equivalent has a much better set of features at a slightly lower price.  Then we looked at the S4.  It's fantastic.  All the new electronic gadgets are great.  It has more power than we need, so we'd probably get an optioned up A4.

By then it was after 2 and time to go home.  We stopped at Wally World for groceries and TP.  The last stop was the post office where part of the parts for the Ranger radio build were in.

When we got home we got the 5-stand controller and shot the tower at the 5-stand.  It was fun.  We found some pairs that were big boy pairs.  Then we shot some targets at a couple of stands that gave us trouble yesterday.

We got home after 6.  We had dinner and Ellen started watching chick flicks.  They are having a Christmas marathon - in July.  I went out to the shed to work on the timer for the radio.  I got sidetracked shorting hardware and spent a lot of time on it.  Then I spent more time trying to fit the timer onto the boxes mounting holes, which didn't match.  I finally pulled my head out and decided to mount it on a separate plate.  By then it was 10, so I cut out the plate and called it quits.

The last thing I did was my exercises.

Day 638

Ellen got me up at 7:30 this morning.  I don't know why, it was totally unnecessary.  After pet stuff and breakfast we surfed, there was nothing else to do.  We went to the club a little before 9.  There wasn't anything to do there either.

Luckily Chris Greenwood showed up.  He's been living in Los Angeles and we haven't seen him in years.  I talked to him for quite awhile catching up on what's been happening in our lives.  He works for a company in LA that "restomods" Porsche 356.  That means they fix them up and give them better engines and running gear.  He showed us picture of the results, they look nice.

We shot with Chris, Garret, and Gerry.  Chris did really good for not shooting in a long time.  Garret did about normal and Gerry didn't do really well.  Ellen sucked.  I missed quite a few targets that I should have hit.  The squad did well in prizes.  Chris got A1, Ellen got L2, I got AA1 and Vet1.  We all have new multi-tools (I have two).

After the shoot we shot super sporting.  We were all tired by the end.  I really didn't do well there.  Again I was missing birds that I should have hit.

After shooting we talked with Chris some more.  I told him that John had suggested leasing cars.  Chris suggessted a couple of Porsche models.  I'll probably stop by the Porsche place tomorrow.

We went home and took showers, it was hot and dusty today.  Then we had dinner.

In the evening Ellen went over to the trailers to play games.  I filled the water tank and then walked around the course with Lucy.  I walked really fast to make up for not doing exercises.

Day 637

We woke up at 7, but didn't get up until 8.  There was no reason to, because we weren't due at the club until 9.  We finished the pet stuff and breakfast by 8:30, so we went to the club then.  We helped Dick get set up.  Ellen did the registration and I took out the tables and prizes.

We had enough instructors so that every squad had two except 1 - mine.  I had a bunch of small kids, 10-14.  I was kind of apprehensive before e started, but I actually ended up having fun.  I got all of the kids to hit targets.  Some did really well.  The smallest really didn't have the strength to hold the gun, but he was game.  We were done in a little over two hours, and they all seem to have enjoyed themselves.

After shooting we had lunch, hotdogs, potato salad, Cheetos, and pop.  The Cheetos had 330 calories by themselves.  I ate them anyway, but I should have left them alone.  I did skip the morning cookies.

After everything was put away I went out to help set targets.  Dave and Andreas are really a pair at target setting, so I didn't try to intrude.  I ended up setting a couple of machines, but really all I did was move machines around.  It probably took more than two hours to do everything and I was tired when we were done.  I figured that counted as today's exercise.

It was in the mid 90's today, so when I was done I took a shower.  The pump decided to blow a fuse right after I shampooed my hair.  I had to get out, go outside, and replace the fuse.  I was not happy.

After that we went to the post office and Roth's.  We needed milk and bananas.  The milk has been tasting suspicious for the last couple of days even though it wasn't out of date.

When we got home we had dinner.  Then I surfed and Ellen watched chick flicks.

Day 636

We got up a little after 8 and did the normal pet stuff and breakfast.  After that there was some surfing and then we left to do to Lowe's.  I wanted to get something to mount the bathroom LED switch on.  I decided on light switch panels.  I should have thought about them yesterday.

The panels only cost $.28 a piece, so I bought 8 in different colors and styles.  That way I wouldn't have to go back.  There was a mattress store across the street, so we went over there and bought a bed.  It cost over $3,500, but we remembered our mantra.  I hope it's as comfortable as we think it will be.

We also stopped at Bed, Bath, and Beyond.  I got a nut cracker and a strainer for fruit (I used it twice today and really like it).  The next stop was Carrhart's where I bought an orange t-shirt.  The last stop was the post office, where there were a couple of packages.

When we got home I ate lunch and then went out to finish the LED light.  The first panel I tried worked.  It didn't crack and only took a little work with the Dremel to mount the switch.  That's why I bought the extras, so I wouldn't need them.  After that I managed to install the light in the bathroom with only a little amount of pain and anguish.  The last step was to do my exercises.

I felt like doing more, so I organized all of the stuff I've bought.  It fills one fairly good sized box, with a couple of things left over.  There's still one fairly large order to go.  One of the things that came today was a scope for the AR10.  So I mounted it.

After that I went inside and surfed until dinner.  After dinner I took out the pellet trap and the CO2 P320.  The gun is really accurate.  I pull almost all of the hots to the left though.  That's why I got it, to work on that.

I shot until it got dark and cold.  Then I came inside and surfed and read for the rest of the evening.

Day 635

We didn't get up particularly early this morning.  There was no reason to.  After pet stuff and breakfast I surfed and Ellen worked on the club website.  I couldn't work on the bathroom LED light because I needed a plug for the soldering iron.

Somewhere between 10 and 11 we left for McMinnville.  It was really an excuse to ride the ferry.  The timing was great.  When we got there we just drove on and then they took off.  When we got to the other side we drove onto the beach and let Lucy swim.  She really had a good time and did at least 20 retrieves.  She would have done more, but she didn't complain when I called it quits.

When we got to McMinnville there was a farmer's market going on.  We bought half a flat of strawberries and some lavender soap.  Then we walked around town for awhile and had lunch.  That was a bad move.  Ellen's asshole was giving her problems at the market.  Eating lunch made it worse.  She spent half of lunch in the can.  I drove home as fast as I could, but she still had to stop at a gross port-a-potty at the ferry.  Through all that I didn't get a plug.

When we got home I took a plug from the club (I should have thought of that yesterday).  I wired up the plug and then soldered the four LED strips together and installed them in the diffuser.  Everything worked fine.  Then I tried to install them in the small trailer.  It was over 90 today and the trailer was hotter than hell.  That's when I found out that I screwed up positioning the power switch.  I'd have to cut a new hole and cover the old one.  I decided to have dinner at that point.

After dinner I went to Woodburn to find a switch cover.  Two auto stores didn't have one.  I ended up at Dollar Store where I bought a plastic plate.  When I got home I spent an hour or more cutting out a cover from the plate.  Unfortunately the plastic was hard and cheap and broke when I tried to drill it.  It was after 9 and I gave up.

The rest of the evening was surfing.

Days 631-634

We went to John and Patty's for the fourth.  That meant that I didn't get around to writing up any entries.  This one covers the whole time.

We got somewhat of a late start on Sunday.  We also stopped in Tigard to give the dog a bath.  She had rolled in something the night before and was stinky.  When we got there we just kind of hung out.  John did a little work on his trailer.  I got bored and went shopping/exploring.  I stopped at a liquor store for some scotch and then drove down Murray past Scholl's Ferry.  That road didn't exist when we lived there.  There's all sorts of development and even a pretty big shopping center.  I also got some bagels that Ellen wanted.  The rest of the day was drinking and talking.

John is going to be doing some outside pavers.  He bought a tile saw to cut them.  On Monday we put it together.  I convinced him to go back to Harbor Freight for the stand, rather than cobbling together one he already had.  The stand was only $40.  So we went there.  We also stopped at a liquor store again for more scotch.  We also bouight a box of safe and sane fireworks at a stand.  The last stop was Safeway for groceries.  Then it was home to finish work and the saw and then continue drinking.

The fourth was a sit at home and drink day.  That's about all we did.  Of course everyone was surfing also.  I ordered all of the stuff I needed from Amazon to install a radio in the Ranger.  In the evening we set off the fireworks.  It was amazing to watch people setting off the unsafe kinds (from Washington) all over the valley.  Some people had spent a lot of money on some pretty impressive fireworks.  The noise went on well into the night, but it didn't keep us up.

Wednesday was go back home day.  We ate breakfast and then sat around for awhile talking.  All total we had killed off almost two bottles of scotch during the stay.  Then it was time to leave.  On the way home we stopped at Fry's so I could by a diode that I'd forgotten to order.  When we got back it was feed cats, clean cat box, and load up the laundry.  The goddamn starlings had covered the truck in bird shit.  I had to spray it all down and then run a brush over t to clean it.

After the wash we had lunch and went out to shoot.  We shot 150 rounds or so at the two story 5-stand.  It was fun.  By the time we were finished it was dinner time.  After dinner we went back to the club and socialized with the other people staying here.  There's 8 trailers here because both us and tri-county have shoots this weekend.

In the evening I watched the Dodgers win a close game.

Day 630

I woke up at 7:30, but didn't get up until 8:30.  I just didn't feel like getting out of bed.  When I did it was pet stuff and breakfast.  I did some more 4th of July shopping and made another order.  Then we left to do errands.  It was cold - 60.  So we both wore sweatshirts.

We went to Best Buy and bought printer ink and bluetooth headphones for Ellen.  We're using a lot of ink to print out Hooch's emails for mother.  We then went on a wild goose chase looking for a place to wash the dog.  Along the way we managed to pick up the fuses I should have bought yesterday.  Then we drove back north to Baumann's.  We bought berries, shortcake, corn, and carmel corm.  All for the weekend.

When we got home we had lunch.  Then we went out to shoot.  One of the guys from last week's class came with us.  We shot a lot at the two story 5-stand.  Then we went out and shot the course.  I was really tired by the time we were done.

When we got back I drained the tanks and filled the water tank.  It wasn't really necessary, but I wanted to have it done before we left.  I also did my exercises.

After that I sat down to watch TV and ended up falling asleep.  I'm going to bed early tonight.
