Day 1549

We woke up at 8, but didn't get up until 9.  We've been paying games every morning.  After that it was pet stuff and breakfast.  Then it was a little surfing before going to Dripping Springs.

When we got to the license place the truck plates weren't there.  The courier wasn't coming until the afternoon because they were busy.  We did get the sticker for the car.  We also got the mailing address changed to the PO box.

By then it was 11.  So we went to the women's cafe and had breakfast/lunch.  Then it was HEB for some groceries.  On the way back I stopped at the stock maker's.  The place was empty even though the website said it was still there.  We called the number on the website and left a message.  After that we went to the post office.  We also stopped at Wally World just for something to do.  We bought a couple of Legos.

John and Melissa were back by the time we got home.  Ellen worked on a Lego car while I surfed.  After awhile Melissa came over.  She's feeling much better.  John came over about 5.  I took the dog to the mailbox and then we had dinner.

After dinner we talked for quite awhile.  They left about 7:30.  We plan to go to breakfast and an estate sale tomorrow morning.

After that it was surfing.

Day 1548

We woke up at 8, but didn't get up until 9. Then it was pet stuff and breakfast.  John and Melissa went to Isaac's again.  I couldn't think of anything to do, so I surfed.  I ran across a couple of long articles that kept me busy for hours.

After lunch (ham sandwich) I got bored.  Ellen had found that the sporting goods place at Bee Cave was under new management.  So we decided to go.  When we went out to the Audi I noticed that the license had expired 3 months ago.  Crap.

Ellen found a place in Bee Cave that did inspections, so we stopped there first.  After 45 minutes and $18 we had our safety certificate.  Then we went to the sporting goods place.  It was a lot like what it was like before.  It had a lot of nice stuff, all of it at pretty high prices.  We already have everything we could want from their offerings.

After that we went to the post office.  Ellen wanted to go to Costco, so we did.  We bought water, batteries, and a chicken for dinner.

We got home about 5, so I took the dog to the mailbox.  John came over a little bit later.  He and I talked while Ellen got dinner ready.  He ate with us and then took dinner back to Melissa.  Apparently she's a little better, but still pretty sick.

After dinner Ellen watched TV and I surfed.  I had found a couple of more interesting articles.

Day 1547

We woke up about 8, but didn't get out of bed until about 9. Then it was pet stuff and breakfast.  John and Melissa had gone to Isaac's, so I surfed until it was warm enough to work outside.  I also did two identity theft related things.  I filled out an IRS form saying my SSN had been stolen.  I also filled out a report at a government website.

When it was I went out to the garage and gathered the tools I needed to replace the fence cable.  I took them all to the fence and started work.  I planned to just do some initial work and wait until John got back to do the hard stuff.  He really wanted to help.

I removed all of the old cable.  Then I attached the cable to one of the turn buckles.  Then I strung the cable to the other post.  Along the way I attached the cable to the metal posts in between.  That's where I stopped.  I wanted to wait for John to help, even though I really didn't think it was necessary.

I had a craving for hamburgers, so we went to Mighty Fine.  After that we stopped at the pet store and bought more cat food.  I can't resist the 20% off price.  The last stop was the post office.

I really didn't have anything else to do.  I looked into trailer hitches that would fit the new truck.  One company makes an automatic hitch that fits.  I'd really like to stay with PullRite though.  It seems to be a simpler design.

The squirrels were attacking the bird feeder.  I managed to get a shot at one.  I hit it, but only disabled it's back legs.  Lucy chased it to the woods and found it.  She kept it there while I reloaded and walked back there.  I shot it in the head and threw it over the fence.

About 3 I decided I couldn't wait any more for John.  I went out and started to tighten the cable.  I pulled the cable tight and anchored it on the first post.  Then I pulled it tight and anchored it to the second post.  Hurray for vice grip pliers.

I was just starting to tighten the turnbuckles (the last step)  when John showed up.  At least he was there to help me put everything away.

Ellen had gone to teach, so dinner was on me.  I fixed chicken Cordon Bleu from the freezer.  I also heated up leftover rice and potatoes from yesterday.  Then I added the last of the Central Market cake.

Melissa is feeling sick again.  So John watched TV with me.  He watched TV with me while dinner was cooking.  He ate dinner with me and then stayed to watch the end of the movie with me.  Then he took Melissa her dinner.

The rest of the evening was TV and some surfing.

Day 1546

We woke up about 8, but didn't get out of bed until after 9.  Then it was pet stuff and breakfast.I did a little surfing and then called the body shop.  He said that the bumper had come in today.  It should be ready for installation later in the week.  We were on our own today because John and Melissa went to help Isaac.

After that I went outside and measured the length of cable I need to shore up the back yard fence.  It was 51 feet.  Then I sighted in the pellet rifle I brought from Oregon.  The squirrels have been devastating the bird feeders.

Ellen contacted the seller about the broken bird feeder.  They said they would either refund half the money or we could send back the feeder at our expense for an exchange.  So we left for the post office.  On the way we stopped at Lowe's for the fence cable and a drill bit to complete fixing the railroad tie.

When we got to the post office of course we had to wait.  It turns out that the cheapest shipping to return the bird feeder is $46.  It cost $50.  We're going to cancel the charge.  Our last stops were Goodwill to drop off some stuff and HEB for bananas, milk , and bread.

When we got home I used the drill I'd brought to finish repairing the railroad tie.  It came out pretty good.  John came uot to help.  When we were finished I invited him to come to the house.  Melissa has had a relapse.  She's feeling bad enough that she called her doctor and got some prescriptions.

Ellen fixed pork chops for dinner.  John ate dinner with us and then took a plate to Melissa.  The rest of the evening was TV - an interesting 3 part series on the revolutionary war.

Sunday, January 26, 2020

Day 1545

We woke up about 8:30.  After pet stuff and breakfast it was surfing.  It was a nice day, but we were waiting for john and Melissa to contact us.  About noon they said they wanted to "do something".

Ellen found a farmer's market in NE Austin.  Lucy really wanted to go, so we took two cars.  I35 was a parking lot, so we went up loop 1 and then across to I35 above downtown.

The market was fairly large and heavily attended.  Parking was non-existent.  I ended up parking a a park across the street.  We met up with John and Melissa, but really couldn't go through the market.  The market was dog friendly and there were many dogs.  Unfortunately Reggie is aggressive towards other dogs.  It was impossible to take him through the market.  Fortunately there were some roach coaches parked next to the market.  We had lunch there.  It was really good.

After lunch we walkjed a couple of blocks over to a commercial area.  We found a pub with a porch that allowed dogs.  There was even an empty table.  We sat down had drinks and talked for awhile.  John and Melissa told us about Hawaii.  After that we drove home.

Melissa is feeling better, but she's still not 100%.  So they went back to the apartment when we got home.  Ellen fixed some frozen food that Melissa had purchased.  I gave John some DVD's to watch while Melissa stays in bed and coughs.  After dinner it was TV and surfing.

Saturday, January 25, 2020

Day 1544

We got up a little before 8, did the pet stuff and had breakfast.  After a little surfing we left for the bank.  We got there at 9:02.  We still had to wait for someone who had gotten there earlier.

We spent almost an hour with the banker.  A person had tried to gain access to the checking account and credit card yesterday.  He had my name, address, SSN, the account number, and the card number.  Fortunately we had locked down everything yesterday.  We removed some online permissions on some of the accounts.  We couldn't get the checking account reactivated because we're in Texas and the account was set up in Oregon.  Apparently it will take about a week to get it all sorted out.  Whoever has the info is dedicated and has access to about everything.

When we were finished we went to Verizon to see if we can block any duplicating of the SIM cards.  It turns out they have a new process to do exactly that.  We activated it.  Then we made a short stop at Lowe's for some hardware.  We stopped at the donut shop on Brodie on the way home.  We got donuts for us and some powder sugar things for John.  Then we went home.

We passed John and Melissa on Madrone Circle.  They were taking the dog for a walk.  Apparently Melissa is feeling better, but not 100% yet.

When we got home I went to the garage.  I was going to use the hardware I bought to reinforce one of the railroad ties, but I didn't have the right drill bit.  So I decided to measure the height the hitch will be when it's mounted in the truck.  The hitch height will be 51 1/2 inches.  The height of the pin box when the trailer is level is 49 inches.  Assuming the truck will sink down a little when the trailer is hitched things should be pretty good.

John and Melissa came home just as I finished.  John and I stood outside and talked for quite awhile.  Lucy snuck into the apartment and grabbed a rice bone.,  We'd given it to Reggie a few days ago, but he didn't like it.  We were at the bottom of the stairs.  She came out with the bone in her mouth and stood there.  Once she decided we weren't going to object she hurriedly took the bone home.

Ellen fixed chicken for dinner and we took a couple of plates over to them.  After dinner was a little TV and a lot of TV.

Friday, January 24, 2020

Day 1543

We got up a little before 8.  We just felt like it.  After pet stuff, breakfast, and a little surfing I went out to the garage.  I searched out some wire and hooks so that I could attach them to the fram we bought for John and Patty's print.  Now it's ready to hang.  I also went into the trailer and hng up the little road runner miniature that I bought a while back.

When I was done I knocked on the apartment door and asked John if he wanted to go to an estate sale.  He said he would after he finished the brakes on Isaac's van.  Then we could meet Isaac at the sale.

Finishing the brake job was a fiasco.  One of the pads just wouldn't go in.  After much time and effort John realized that he had installed one wrong pad in the wheel yesterday.  That meant reassembling the one we were working on, disassembling the one that was "finished", switching the pads, assembling that wheel, disassembling the second wheel, and finally finishing the second wheel.  It took hours.

When we were finished John took the van for a test drive while I had lunch.  When he got back he, Ellen, and I took it to the estate sale.  Melissa stayed home.  She's still really sick.  The sale was near Covert.  The garage stuff was all over priced.  The one thing I wanted was sold.  We didn't buy anything.

After the sale we went to a bar near there.  We ordered drinks and some food and waited for Isaac to show up.  When they did we talked for awhile, ate and drank.

Going home was a disaster.  We were bucking 4:40 Friday traffic.  It cost $6.50 to take the express lane, and it was clogged up.  We got off downtown and drove to 1st street.  That must have taken 15 or 20 minutes.  1st street was busy, but we mad OK time on it.

We got on 290 and went over to the jewelry store to pick up Ellen's earrings.  We also stopped at the post office and CVS on the way home.  Ellen offered to fix John and Melissa dinner, but they declined.  We ate leftovers.

About 7 Wells Fargo called to say that there had been a fraud alert on the credit card.  I called them and fought with their phone tree until I finally got a person.  They said I had to go to a branch and show picture id to find out what happened and resolve it.

The rest of the evening was surfing, while Ellen watched skating.

Thursday, January 23, 2020

Day 1542

We got p about 8 today, did pet stuff and had breakfast.  After a little bit of surfing we left to run errands.

The first stop was Wells Fargo.  We had them put a verbal password on our accounts.  The second stop was Tomlinson's (Lucy wanted a cookie).  Then we stopped at HEB.  We bought a bunch of stuff to make sure that Ellen could fix dinners.  From there we went to Chase.  They put an "extra security" flag on our account.

We went to the eye place and picked up my new glasses.  They work great.  I'll have to see how much I use them.  We stopped at Best Buy on the way back to get the Zombieland 2 DVD.  Gerry called while were there to tell us our rate of return this year was 22%.  That's easy come.  We'll see about easy go.

By then it was lunch time, so we stopped at Fireman's.  Then it was the post office and home.  When we got home John was working on Isaac's van's brakes.  I helped as much as I could.  Then big thing was driving to Dripping Springs to get parts.  I stopped at the car license place while we were there.  It turns out the new plates were delivered to San Marcos.  They'll be in Dripping Springs next Thursday.

It was 5 when we got back.  John finished up the first wheel.  By then it was getting dark, so the other one will be tomorrow.  Ellen fixed red beans and rice.  We took plates over to them again.

After dinner it was surfing and then some TV.

Wednesday, January 22, 2020

Day 1541

We got up at 8 today.  We did the pet stuff and then left for Hobby Lobby.  It was raining pretty hard and traffic sucked.  Loop 1 was a parking lot from 45 to 290, so we went Slaughter to Escarpment.  Escarpment was backed up at William Cannon, so we went William Cannon to Becket.  The turn onto 290 frontage was backed up, so we continued to the hotel and got on 290 there.  Everything from there was fine, but the exit to Loop one was backed up a long way on 290.  I'm glad we didn't have to go that way.

We got to Hobby Lobby and bought a frame for the print John and Patty gave us.  Then we went to Central Market.  We bought food for John and Melissa.  Then it was off to the airport.  We made it just in time to pick them up.

Melissa had a really bad cold.  So we just drove home.  She went to bed and John stayed in the apartment.  Ellen and I dealt with my stolen social security number.  I called the identity theft place and Bob.  Ellen did a credit freeze.

After that I cut down the print and put it in the frame we bought.  It looks nice.  It was still raining, so I got out the Lego truck I was working on.  I spent most of the rest of the afternoon on it.  Ellen fixed ham and rice for lunch.

I put out the garbage and went to the mailbox.  It was raining lightly.  I kept looking down like I would usually do to keep rain off my glasses.  Only I'm not wearing glasses any more.  It took an effort to look up.

Ellen fixed shrimp from Central Market for dinner.  She made up two plates and I took them to the apartment.  Melissa wanted to stay away so she wouldn't infect us.  That's nice.

The evening was TV.

Tuesday, January 21, 2020

Day 1540

We didn't get up until 9 again today.  It's kind of fun to sleep in.  That will end because John and Melissa are coming back tomorrow.  We did pet stuff and breakfast as well as starting the wash.  We also spent quite a bit of time cleaning up the house.  Ellen vacuumed while I cleaned the table and kitchen counters.

I was planning on doing some errands, but unfortunately Ellen started a cleaning cycle on the oven.  I didn't want to leave while it was active.  The cycle took over three hours and filled the house with the smell of burning.  We turned on all of the fans, but it didn't help.  The smell was so bad that it hurt our eyes.

Lunch was leftovers.  The oven finally quit about 1.  We left and did the most important errands.  We got cat food, went to the post office, and left Ellen's earrings at the jewelry store to be repaired.  Then we had to go home so Ellen could go teach the kids.

While Ellen was gone I got a call from US Bank.  Someone tried to get replacement credit cards using my name.  Fortunately they didn't know the right answers to the questions.  They did have my Social Security number though.  I called Gerry and warned him.  He's going to lock down our accounts.  Tomorrow we're going to be calling places to lock down other accounts and do a credit freeze.  Crap.

I opened the windows to help air out the house, but it didn't help.  The place still stinks as we get ready for bed.

Ellen bought Chick-fil-a for dinner.  After that was a little surfing and some TV.  John and Melissa are coming in at 10 tomorrow.  We're going to stop at Central Market before we pick them up.  If possible we'll get a picture frame at Hobby Lobby.  That means getting up early for a change.

Monday, January 20, 2020

Day 1539

We really stayed in bed today.  We didn't get up until 10.  It was a little cold and we didn't have anything to do.  The animals were glad when we did the pet stuff and had breakfast.  After breakfast I did a little surfing, but that got old fast.  I've been doing a lot of it lately.

I decided to get out one of the large Lego sets that I bought awhile back.  In fact, it was so long ago that I don't remember buying it.  It's a motorized truck with 1,000 pieces.  The thing has two differentials, four wheel drive, and three motors.  It even has shock absorbers.  The instruction book has 217 pages.

I spent hours putting the thing together.  I managed to get 1/3 of the thing completed.  That amounted to the front suspension and part of the frame.  It's a very complicated kit.

Sometime during my building Ellen fixed nachos for lunch.  They were really good.  I quit building about 4.  I did a little surfing and then took the dog to the mailbox.  It's Buckwheat's birthday, so there's no mail.  I knew that, but I wanted Lucy to have a walk.

Dinner was a salad I bought a few days ago at HEB.  The evening was all TV.  I was tired of the internet.  The problem now is that it's 11 and I'm not sleepy because I slept in this morning.

Sunday, January 19, 2020

Day 1538

We didn't get up until 9.  It was cold and there was nothing we planned on doing.  After pet stuff and breakfast we surfed.  The only useful thing I did was take out the garbage.

After a couple of hours we decided to cut the dogs toe nails.  We took her out and put her on the truck's tailgate.  She was not happy.  She was less happy when Ellen cut one short and she started to bleed.  There was quite a bit on the tail gate before we got it stopped.

When we were done Lucy got a rice bone and I got to scrub the tailgate.  Then I got to scrub the floor.

Lunch was left over Chinese food.  Then it was a little surfing followed by football.  The first game turned into a laugh-er after halftime.  The second was a laugh-er by the second quarter.  So I changed the channel and watched TV for awhile followed by a movie.

Ellen fixed ham and macaroni and cheese for dinner.  It was good.

That was pretty much it for the day.

Saturday, January 18, 2020

Day 1537

We didn't get up until almost 9 today.  We really didn't have anything to do today and it was raining.  We did the pet stuff, had breakfast, and surfed for abut an hour.  Then I decided to go to an estate sale.

The sale really didn't have anything of interest.  I bought a book.  By then it was noon, so we went to Pei Wei for lunch.  By then it was warming up and almost sunny.  When we were done with lunch we went to Hobby Lobby to look for a picture frame.  We may be able to make an off the shelf one work.  A custom made one would cost $150.  No way.

After that we went home.  I went out to the garage to attach the sewer hose holder to the trailer.  It took a little time, but the toggle bolts worked perfectly.  When I was finished I did a little cleanup/organizing and then went back to the house.  At 5 I took Lucy to the mailbox.  She did OK, but she wasn't as energetic as yesterday.  She definitely has diarrhea.

Ellen fixed sausage and mac and cheese with garlic bread for dinner.  It was really good.  After dinner was TV.

Friday, January 17, 2020

Day 1536

We got up about 8:30, did the pet stuff and had breakfast.  Then it was a little surfing.  About 9:30 we went estate sailing.

The first place we stopped didn't have a lot.  I did but a miniature picture of a road runner.  I would have bought a roadrunner painting also except that they wouldn't deal on the price.  The second place was picked over also.  Everything was reasonably prices though.  We did find a couple of small things.

We drove back to the post office.  By then it was after noon, so we went to the Cajun place for lunch.  I was craving gumbo.  We stopped for milk and bananas at HEB on the way home.

It was raining and cold the whole day.  You would think we were in Oregon.  It stopped late, so I too the dog to the mailbox.  She really had a lot of energy and walked through the woods a lot.

Ellen fixed some fried ham for dinner.  After dinner it was TV and a movie.

There was supposed to be a tournament at Capitol tomorrow, but they cancelled it because of the mud.  Apparently it's been raining much harder up there the last couple of days.

Thursday, January 16, 2020

Day 1535

We got up a little after 8, did the pet stuff and had breakfast.  I wanted to go shooting, but the forecast was for rain.  Sure enough, about half an hour after breakfast it started to rain.  So we surfed for awhile instead.

I wanted to go to ACE to get toggle bolts for the trailer sewer hose holder.  We also needed cat food.  So we left for ACE and Tomlinson's.  Lucy had a great time at Tomlinson's, they wouldn't stop feeding her.

We took the truck.  I hooked up the CTS2.  It worked, but it wouldn't allow me to change the parameters.  I spent the whole trip trying to get it to work.

The next stop was the post office.  Then we went to a new restaurant next to AMD.  It was very expensive ($18 for a hamburger - no fries) and really noisy.  The food was good, but we won't be back.

I called Edge when we got home.  They said that the CTS2 doesn't support the 2020 yet, and that it will be 6 weeks or so until it does.  Oh well.

The rest of the evening was surfing and TV.  Dinner was ham sandwiches.

Wednesday, January 15, 2020

Day 1534

We got up a little after 8.  After pet stuff and breakfast I surfed until 9:30.  I called the body shop and they said call back in an hour.  So I did.  They said bring the truck in, so we did.  Ellen was building a LEGO car while I surfed.

After leaving the truck off we stopped at the post office and then went to Harbor Freight.  I needed some more cable ties.  I lost a package somewhere.  Then we went to Central Market.  We didn't really need anything, but somehow we ended up with a bag full of groceries.  We also stopped at the outdoor store next door, but we didn't buy anything.  The last stop was Arby's for lunch.  It was sunny, so we couldn't leave Lucy in the car.

When we got home I decided to clean my gun.  It turned out it wasn't really dirty, but it could still use a cleaning.  I was about halfway done when the body shop called.  So I suspended that and we went back to the shop.  They did a great job on the install and it only cost $50.  I'll hook up the CTS2 tomorrow.

I finished the gun cleaning when we got back.  Ellen fixed BLT's for dinner.  After dinner I did some surfing and read the CTS manual.  It may be that I didn't need to buy an EGT probe.  I'm conflicted about that.  We'll see tomorrow.

Tuesday, January 14, 2020

Day 1533

We got up about 8:30, did the pet stuff and had breakfast.  Then it was a little surfing before leaving for the doctor.  It was raining lightly.

They gave me an eye exam at the doctor.  Everything looks fine.  I see 20/15, maybe the best I've seen in my entire life.  The sight in the right eye is a little weaker, but not much.  The doctor says that it's dry.  He thinks that eye drops morning and night will improve it.

There's a glasses shop associated with the office, just like in Oregon.  I ordered a set of progressive lenses that will allow me to see far, computer distance, and reading distance.  The insurance paid for part of it.

When we were done with that we went to the mall.  We hadn't been there this year and I didn't want to sit at home.  We walked through the entire downstairs and part of the upstairs.  We bought jewelry for the kids, tribble Christmas ornaments for Melissa and me, and a Lego radio controlled car for Ellen.  We also ate lunch at Cheesecake Factory.

After that we stopped at the post office and then went home.  We were going to go to Tomlinson's, but Lucy had diarrhea yesterday, last night, and this morning.

When we got home Ellen got ready and left to teach.  I called the body shop.  The parts aren't in.  They want me to come in tomorrow to install the CTS2.  I also called Covert.  The plates haven't come and the license runs out in 3 days.  They checked and said they were sent out in December.  That means they were stolen.  They are over nighting me a new application and a license extension.

The rest of the afternoon was surfing.  I took the dog to the mailbox and talked with Lee for awhile.  Dinner was leftover pizza.  It didn't go well with the Thai food I had for lunch.  After dinner was TV.

Monday, January 13, 2020

Day 1532

We got up about 8:30.  I don't know why it was so hard to get up, we had 8 hours of sleep.  I just didn't want to get out of bed.  Then it was pet stuff and breakfast.

After breakfast we left to do errands.  The first stops were coffee and a haircut.  I ddin't have to wait for a haircut at all.  Then we went to the pet store.  They didn't have Zuke's, but Lucy got a bath.  Now she's soft, fluffy, and smells like a french whore.  The next stops were the post office and HEB.  The final stop was Tomlinson's.  Unfortunately they didn't have Zuke's either.

When we got home lunch was a fajita chicken sandwich.  It had been raining (mainly Seattle type mist) the entire day.  I decided to do some work anyway.  I went out to the garage and put away all of the hardware left over from the trailer door latch effort.  There was quite a lot of it.  Then I got out the nailer and nailed up the cabinet trim strips.  That finishes the work on the trailer bathroom.

After that I went out to the back storage building.  I got the pipes and a large cardboard box left over from the truck shelter stuff.  I cut up the cardboard and put it in the recycle.  The pipes went in the garbage.  I would have reattached the trailer sewer pipe holder, but it was too wet to lay on the ground doing it.

It was 4:30 by that time, so I went inside.  I had Ellen look up the post by the gut that made a shoe box out of the trailer steps.  That might be my next project.

I took the dog to the mailbox.  On the way back she chased the deer through our woods.  It's the first time she's done that in a very long time.

Dinner was a take and bake pizza from HEB.  It was really good.  After dinner was TV.  I watched a little of the football championship game, but it was a laugh-er.

Sunday, January 12, 2020

Day 1531

It was 33 degrees when we woke up this morning.  So we stayed in bed until about 9.  Then it was pet stuff and breakfast.  Ellen fixed pancakes.  It was still cold, so we spent most of the morning surfing.

It finally warmed up over 50, so I went out to do some work.  I carried the full recycle bin to the can.  It's a lot heavier when it's filled with wine bottles instead of plastic water bottles.  After that it was the garbage.  I went to the well house and put two bags of salt in the softener.  We use a lot with four people here.

I've been meaning to spread some more gravel at the end of the sidewalk.  It was getting thin from all the traffic.  So I got tout the implements of destruction and spread out a load.  That was all it needed.

I finally had everything I needed to complete the trailer screen door latch.  It took a little messing around, but the end result works great.  It was one of those projects that actually went off without a hitch.  I would have put up the cabinet trim, but Ellen had done a shitty job of painting it.  I asked her to go out and fix it.

After that it was lunch time.  I had a brisket sandwich.  After that it was football.  Houston had a good first quarter, then the Chiefs killed them.  I watched the first half of the Seahawks game.  They were stinking it up, so I switched to other TV shows.

That and surfing took the rest of the evening.

Saturday, January 11, 2020

Day 1530

We got up at 7:15.  After pet stuff and breakfast we left for Hog Heaven.  We had to be there by 8:30.

When we got there it turned out that we didn't need to be there until 10:00.  Oh well.  We killed time until then.  At least they had donuts.

Did I mention that it was cold and windy all day?  In addition we were pulling on the trap fields, which were the windiest.  I think it was about 45 when we started and maybe 55 when we finished.

Ellen had a squad at 10:30.  I pulled for her.  We were done about 11:30, which gave us half an hour to go back, get lunch ($10 apiece), walk back, and eat it.  Did I mention it was cold and windy?

We both had squads at 12:00 and 1:30.  I roped parents into pulling for me while I kept score.  It was cool noticing how much better I saw the targets.  I saw chips and dust off targets that I wouldn't have seen before.

We were done about 3.  We stopped at HEB on the way home.  We also stopped at ACE so I could get the tool I had on rain check and some washers for the trailer screen door.  We also stopped at the restaurant next door to get coconut shrimp and a mojito.  The mojito sucked.  We didn't get home until after 4:30.

I noticed last night during the thunderstorm that the gutter down spout was blocked.  I got out the ladder and shoveled it out.  There was quite a bit of junk filling up the area around the spout.

After that it was a little surfing then dinner - a sandwich made out of leftover fajita chicken.  After dinner was football.  The Titans beat the Ravens.  The Ravens were expected to trounce the Titans and maybe win the Super Bowl.

Day 1529

We didn't get up until 9:30.  We both just wanted to sleep late.  After pet stuff and breakfast it was surfing.  We basically surfed the rest of the morning away.

We needed cat food, so about noon we left to get some.  We stopped at Lowe's first so I could get some bolts to repair the trailer sewer hose holder.  After the pet store we stopped at the Thai place for lunch.  It's under new management and has better Pad Thai than before.

The last stop was the post office.  Then it was home.  The knobs I need to fix the trailer screen door were here, but I didn't feel like doing anything.  So I surfed instead.

I basically wasted the whole day.

Ellen fixed ham for dinner.  After dinner a big thunderstorm hit.  I moved the car into the garage.  I had to move John and Melissa's car first.  I was soaked by the time I was done.

The heavy rain knocked out the TV signal, so I surfed the evening away, too.

Day 1528

We got up about 8:30 today, did the pet stuff and had breakfast.  After that it was a little surfing.  Then I started to load up the truck with all of the stuff necessary to go to the club.

Luckily 183 wasn't too jammed up as we drove to the club.  In fact it was pretty manageable.  The problem was that there was all sorts of lanes coming and going.  That made for a lot of jockeying for position.  I'm getting a little better horsing the truck around though, so it wasn't too bad.

It had been raining a little bit when we left, but luckily not at the club.  It was windy and threatened rain, but it was dry all of the time we were there.  We got a cart.  I like rich person's shooting.

I shot like shit at first.  I was missing shots I should never miss and couldn't figure out why.  I tried closing my left eye.  Sometimes it helped and sometimes it didn't.  That told me it wasn't the real problem.  I just kept shooting.  Eventually I got a little better.  Then it dawned on me that I was shooting behind a lot of targets.  That's because they look bigger now that I'm not wearing glasses.  So the targets are farther away than my brain thinks they are.  I got better once I made the adjustment.  I'm going to have to remember that.

When we were finished we took 290 back.  We passed a two mile long traffic jam on southbound 183 on the way up.  We crossed to the Mopac.  It was about 2, but traffic was pretty light and moving at the speed limit or faster.  We stopped at Rudy's for lunch.  Lucy approved.  The lat stop was the post office.  We took 290 home because it was completely clear.

I put everything away when we got home and started surfing.  I really didn't feel like doing anything.  I did take Lucy to the mailbox.  She wasn't too bad, but she wasn't good.

Dinner was some frozen stuff.  After dinner was TV.  I was sick of surfing.

Day 1527

We got up at 5:30, did the pet stuff, and left to take John and Melissa to the airport.  It's the first time I driven at night with my new eyes.  It was great.  I could see.  I've been night blind for years.  It was amazing to be able to see so clearly.  There were no light halos.  I loved it.

We got John and Melissa to the airport in about half an hour.  On the way back we stopped for gas.  Ellen had let the car run down to a quarter tank.  We stopped a funkadelic for breakfast.  We had to wait about 10 minutes in the parking lot for them to open.

After that we went to Lowe's.  I got some drill bits, some hardware for the trailer screen door, and some wood for the bathroom cabinet.  We stopped at HEB for bread on the way home.

I surfed for awhile when we got home because it was cold (38 degrees when we got up).  About 10:30 it got up to 60, so I went out to work in the trailer.  I installed the new drain pipe.  It took awhile because I had to use the Dremel to make the hole in the sink bigger.  The result looks great.  I also worked out how to latch the screen door.  I have to get some knobs though, so I went back into the house and ordered some.

I measured and cut the wood for the cabinet.  I had to use the Dremel again to shave off the corners of the box that Ellen uses on her shelf.  That way the wood would fit.  I also set up the wood for painting and Ellen put on the first coat.

While I was doing that the body shop called.  The parts that were supposed to be in Monday still haven't arrived.  So they told me to pick up the truck and they'd call when the parts came in.  We stopped at Goodwill on the way over and dropped off some old pans.  Ellen got replacements for Christmas.  After picking up the truck we stopped at Jack Allen's on the way back for a late lunch.  I'm happy because I think they will install the CTS2 for me.

The rest of the afternoon was surfing.  I took the dog to the mailbox.  She did well again today.  While walking I noticed that the sight in my right eye has improved noticeably.  I think I'll try shooting tomorrow if the weather is good.

After that it was a combination of surfing, reading, and TV for the rest of the night.  Dinner was just a sandwich, since lunch was so late.

Day 1526

We woke up about 8 and got up about 8:30.  Then it was pet stuff and breakfast.  I really wanted to accomplish something, but there wasn't much to do.  The things I want to do involve the truck and stuff on the trailer that I need parts for.  So I surfed.

I decided to got out to the garage to see if there was any small task I could do.  Melissa came out soon after I opened the door.  She wanted to talk about mounting the towel heater.  I told her to do it any way she wanted.  John came out and we started talking.  A little later Ellen came out, too.  I didn't get much done, but we had a great conversation.

Eventually John and Melissa left to take Reggie to Isaac's.  I went in and had lunch.  During the morning conversation I'd remembered that I needed to reattach the sewer hose holder on the trailer.  I went out and got it from the trailer.  I repaired the broken mount.  I would have reattached it, but I didn't have the right kind of screws.  Oh well.

After that I went back to the house and surfed.  Ellen went to Dripping Springs to coach.  At dinner time I took the dog to the mailbox.  She did a lot better than yesterday.

John and Melissa came back, but didn't come over because they didn't see the car.  They thought we'd gone to pick up the truck.  When Ellen got home the two of us ate leftovers.  Eventually John and Melissa came over.  Ellen and Melissa sewed while John and I watched car shows.

I did get the drain pipe for the bathroom sink in the trailer.  I can put that in tomorrow.

We all went to bed a little early.  They want to leave for the airport tomorrow at 6.

Day 1525

We got up at 7, did the pet stuff, and left for the body shop.  We drove both vehicles.  Traffic wasn't bad, but we hit every light red.

We dropped the truck up.  They didn't seem interested in doing the CTS2 mount.  After that we stopped at Jim's for breakfast.  We wanted to go to Petco across the street, but they didn't open for half an hour.  So we killed that time in HEB.

After that we went back to the post office and got the mail.  I had to wait in line for the package even though it was still early.  I decided to pick up a new faucet for the trailer bathroom.  We stopped at both Home Depot and Lowe's to look at options.  We bought one at Home Depot.  We also got a towel warmer for the apartment.

We got home a little before noon.  I dropped off the mail and towel warmer at the apartment.  Melissa said they were going to take Reggie for a bath.

I did a little surfing before and after lunch.  Then I decided to install the new faucet in the trailer bathroom.  The old one came out easily.  I thought I was home free.  That's when I discovered that the holes in the cabinet top were in the wrong position for the new faucet.  I had to make a template of the bottom of the new faucet.  Then I used it to mark where I had to cut the cabinet top.  Then I used a jigsaw to cut the holes.  When I was done it all fit perfectly.

I wanted to replace the drain pipe, too.  I took the old one apart.  Of course the p-trap had water in it.  That lead to some mopping up and cleaning.  Then I discovered that the new drain pipe was for a ceramic bowl and wouldn't fit.  So I put the old one back in.

Cleanup took some time.  I had to put everything back under the sink.  Then I vacuumed up all of the sawdust from enlarging in hole.  Finally I took all of the garbage to the can.

I went back into the house and ordered the correct type of drain pipe from Amazon.  Then I surfed until dinner.

After dinner John and I watched car shows.

Day 1524

We got up a little after 8 and did the pet stuff.  Ellen starting fixing pancakes and bacon for breakfast.  John and Melissa came over when it was ready.

After breakfast John went back to the apartment to fiddle with the phone antenna.  I picked out some screws to use to mount the CTS2 bracket.  Hopefully I can get the body shop guys to do it.  I also did a little cleanup in the garage.

While I was doing that Ellen got the WiFi antenna working.  So I got out the ladder to mount it.  The first step was to remove the old antenna.  That went well.  Attaching the new one didn't.  I had to modify the antenna mount to use screws to attach it to the building.  Then the screws I used were cheap Chinese junk that didn't work.  There was a lot of going up and down the ladder.

I finally got everything hooked up.  Apparently it works great.  John and Melissa are really happy.  When I was done I put everything away and went back to the house.

I surfed for awhile and then watched football.  The Seahawks won.  Yay.

Ellen and Melissa fixed spaghetti for dinner.  Afterwards John and I watched car shows.  We watched recorded ones so we didn't have to watch commercials.  We both fell asleep.

Day 1523

We got up about 8:30 in case John and Melissa wanted to do something.  They didn't.  After pet stuff and breakfast it was surfing.

John spent a lot of the morning trying to aim the phone antenna.  He didn't have a lot of luck.  I got out the CTS2.  It needed updating before installation.  Updating it require downloading a client to my computer, updating the client, downloading the CTS2 firmware, and updating the firmware.  The whole process took more than an hour.

I couldn't find the box with the EGT probe in it.  I looked all over the house and then searched the truck.  No luck.  I was about to give up when I decided to look in the spare bedroom.  It was there in the "future gifts" pile.

Eventually it was lunch time and John and Melissa came over.  Melissa fixed sandwiches.  After lunch John went back to the antenna.  I took Ellen and Melissa to HEB and the post office.  We also stopped at the pet store and the wine store.  When we got back I went out to figure out where the CTS2 should be mounted in the truck.

That was the end of anything productive today except taking the dog to the mailbox.  Ellen fixed shrimp and steak for dinner on the Traeger.  It was really good.  After dinner John and I watched football.  Houston won and the Patriots lost, so both games were good.

After that it was bed time.

Day 1522

It was another get up late day.  John and Melissa are in Dallas, so there wasn't any reason to get up early.  When we did get up it was pet stuff and breakfast.

After breakfast I went out to the trailer to continue to work on the screen door.  I wasted a lot of time working on the wrong problem.  I also convinced myself that I still need some hardware to complete the job.  So I gave up on the door and went to work on the fireplace.  I took all of the measurements I needed to redo it.  Then I measure the bathroom sink faucet in preparation for replacing it.  Finally I measured the trim needed for the bathroom cabinet.  I wrote everything done.

I hadn't really accomplished much, so I decided to hang the pieces we'd gotten for Christmas.  I hung a road runner plaque and an eagle plaque in the trailer.  We don't have much on the walls there.  I also hung a pink flamingo outside on the back porch wall.

At that point I ran out of energy.  So we left for the post office.  After that we made a stop at HEB and went home.

We had a late lunch.  We finally ran out of leftovers.  After that I had planned on marking the CTS2 mount on the truck, but I didn't feel like it.  Instead I spent quite a bit of time looking for a small fireplace for the trailer.  I couldn't find one that would do the job.  I'm going to have to go back and remeasure some stuff.

Dinner was scraping the bottom of the leftover bowl.  After dinner was TV.  John and Melissa got back from Dallas just about the time we went to bed.

Day 1521

We didn't get out of bed until after 9:30.  Both of us stayed up past midnight last night.  After pet stuff and breakfast we did a little surfing.  I called up St. David's to tell give them my insurance information.  They'd sent me a bill marked "uninsured".

I also buckled down and read the drone's user manual.  I learned that the drone's battery was charged.  I also learned where to install the micro SD card.  The last steps are to charge the remote control and attach the phone so I can register with the DJI mother ship.  I left registering until tomorrow.

We went to Breed's to got a panel for the apartment antenna connection and the drill bits I had a rain check for.  I also got a hook that might solve my trailer screen door problem.  Then we went to the post office.  We also stopped at Best Buy for the Zombieland CD, but it isn't available yet.  I also got a coffee across the parking lot.

The final stop was Sam's Club.  I wanted to use the rest of the gift card.  We got some water, steaks, Christmas cards, and donuts for John.

It was late when we got home.  That's what happens when you get up 2 hours late.  We had leftovers for lunch and I did a little surfing.  Then I took the dog to the mailbox.  She acted all stoved up when we left the house, but by the time we were at the gate she was acting normal.

Dinner was leftovers.  After dinner was hours of watching TV.  I was tired of the internet.

Day 1520

We didn't get up until almost 9:30.  It was cold and cloudy and there was no reason to.  Last night was interesting.  Cooper slept beside me under the covers for most of the night.

After pet stuff and breakfast I took out the recycle.  The bin is completely full.  I also went to the apartment and got the Christmas decoration boxes.  I took down the gate lights while Ellen took off the tree decorations.  Then we both put the tree away.  I took everything back to the apartment.

John and Melissa came over while we were putting stuff away.  John went back to the apartment to play with the antenna.  Apparently he didn't improve things, but he eleminated a couple of possibilities.

Ellen and Melissa spent much of the day sewing.  John and I watched football.  Melissa fixed Philly sandwiches for dinner.

After dinner was more football.

The cats were a little weird today.  Cooper was very subdued.  He spent most of the day sleeping on my lap.  Devon spent the day pacing around the house. I don't think he stopped until after dinner.
