Day 2712

We got up about 7:30, did the pet stuff and had breakfast.  Then it was load up the truck and go to the club.

It was a little hotter than the first day, but still comfortable.  Neither one of us shot as well as before.  Part of the issue might have been some harder targets.  The bigger issue was the shells.  We were shooting 1 1/8 oz 1250 shells from Fioochi.  They kicked really bad.  They were also really dirty.  They made shooting unpleasant.

We were finished by about 10.  We went home and took the dog on a long walk.  That accomplished the goal of tiring her out.  We surfed until 1 and then went to the casino.

We had lunch at Moby's, our old haunt.  Then we played the old version of Moo.  We lost $5 and then made most of it back.  We quit and went to our new favorite game - Audrey.  We won almost $10 on that.

I didn't want to go back to the trailer, so we sat in the bar at the Chinese place and surfed.  We also ordered takeout for dinner.  It was 100 degrees when we walked back to the trailer.  A little later we took Abby for a short walk anyway.

We watched videos and TV shows until dinner time.  After dinner we watched some more.  About 7:30 we took Abby for another walk.  It was nice by then - 88 degrees with a breeze.

The rest of the evening was surfing.  We only have 140 miles to go tomorrow, so we'll get up late and pack up everything then.

Day 2711

We got up around 7 again, but played games for quite a while.  Then it was up for pet stuff and breakfast.  We didn't have any firm plans.

The lack of plans rapidly turned into no plans at all.  We did nothing today except take Abby for a couple of walks.  The rest of the day was spent on surfing and videos.

It was kind of nice to have a completely no activity day.

Day 2710

We got up about 7- Central time again.  We did the pet stuff and and breakfast followed by loading up the truck.  Then we left for the club.

We had a great time shooting.  The weather wasn't too hot and the targets were good.  We even met Gebben giving a lesson while we were shooting.  We shot one of the main courses and three of the FITASC pegs.  That was 250 targets, so we quit.

We finished a little before 11 and Ellen was hungry.  She had a sandwich and I had some pancakes at the club diner.  Then we went home.

We put everything away and took Abby to a park a couple of miles away.  We walked around the park for quite a while.  Abby had a good time and tired herself out.  When we got back we surfed for a while and then went to the casino for lunch.

We ate at the Chinese/Japanese restaurant again.  After that we lost $5 at the slot machines.  Ellen's asshole was giving her problems, so then we went home.

When we got home I spent the rest of the afternoon catching up on videos.  About 5 a concert started at the amphitheater next to the RV park.  It was loud.  The concert lasted until 10.

Dinner was leftovers.  After dinner was more videos.  I'd caught up on the usual ones, so I started looking for others.  I found some good ones.

Day 2709

We got up about 7:30 because we're still on Central time.  Then it was pet stuff and breakfast.  After that I took Abby on a walk.

We walked from the park over to the casino.  Abby had a lot of fun smelling smells in the parking lot and along the sidewalks.  I took a picture of Abby in front of the casino for Hooch.  Abby was ready to rest when we got back.

We'd been planning on going to the desert zoo today, but neither of us felt like it.  We walked to the casino instead.  We played a couple of new games, plus moo.  We won $40, but gave back $10 of it.  There was a Japanese/Chinese restaurant there.  We had lunch.  The food was very good.

After lunch we went back to the trailer.  I set up the Starlink.  Then I spent te rest of the afternoon catching up on all of the videos that I haven't been able to watch.

Ellen fixed sloppy joes for dinner.  After that we watched Baby Yoda and a movies.  Unfortunately that was the last episode of Baby Yoda.

Day 2708

It's hard to say when we got up due to the timezone changes and the unupdated clocks.  Lets just go with we were on the road by 8 AZ time.

There were a huge number of trucks going West - thank NAFTA.  They had beat the road to hell.  Some places were very rough.  At times I was trying to drive outside the ruts.  I couldn't do it often because I'm doing 65 and everyone else is doing 75.  It seemed like there was always a truck beside me.

Mileage was good, over 10.5.  That included another regen.  Of course it happened at the worse part of the trip - Texas Canyon and the road West of it.  It ended with a 15% load which is great.

I got a clue for why the mileage yesterday was so poor.  Today we passed the continental divide ad 4850 feet.  I think we did most of that climbing yesterday.

We got to the casino RV park before 1 AZ time.  It's just a gravel park with paved spots.  The cable has 6 channels.  We set up and then went off for fuel and DEF.  We've used two boxes in 2 days.  Fuel here is outrageous - $4.50/gal is the cheapest.  We also stopped at Wally World and got a plastic pop can holder for the refrigerator.  That way the cans won't fall out when we open the door after a trip.

We went back to the trailer and played with the dog.  Then we both sat down to surf and ended up falling asleep.

The club is closed tomorrow so we'll probably got to the zoo.

Day 2707

I woke up at 7:45, got up and did the pet stuff and had breakfast.  After that it was ouitside to hook up and leave.  That was uneventful and we left at 9.

The trip was pretty straightforward until we got to El Paso.  I did have to stop at a "picnic area" to take a shit in the trailer.  I had a bad case of diarrhea.

Traffic in El Paso wasn't bad, but the road leading out of downtown was.  They are rebuilding it so traffic is on two narrow lanes bordered by concrete barriers.  It's a fairly steep grade, so trucks were crawling up it.  That put me in the left lane between truck and barriers.  It wasn't fun.

The truck did a regen during the trip.  It ended with a 25% soot level.  That's really high.  It's done that once before without problems, so I'm oping it isn't a problem.

I hadn't been watching the fuel gauge.  We went 300 miles at 9 MPG.  When we got to the park the gauge read empty.  We got fuel as soon as we set up.  We really had 6 gallons left.  I've NEVER let a vehicle get that low.  We also ran down to 120 miles of DEF, too.  I was prepared for that and put some in when we got to the park.

That was pretty much it for the day.  We did the laundry, watched TV, surfed, and played with the dog.  We got out a new "obedience" lead for her.  It calms her down well.

We also planned some more of the trip.  We'll go to Vegas and then St. George.  Ellen made reservations for both places.  She needs to make some calls before we finalize the rest.

Day 2706

We woke up at 8, did the pet stuff and had breakfast.  Then it was hook up and get on the road.  We had a little more than 300 miles to make.

The trip was totally uneventful - YEAH.  We made 10.7 mpg with no tail wind - another wind.

The only "problem" was the central display going blank just as we dumped the garbage as we were leaving the park.  Ellen spent about an hour looking for the solution on the web.  Then info there painted a grim, expensive, picture.

I had in the back of my mind that the problem was just Ellen messing with the wrong knob, possibly at the wrong time.  She'd given up when I decided to twist a knob opposite the radio knob.  It had a check mark for a label and Ellen couldn't find out what it did (I'm pretty sure she didn't try hard).  Pushing the knob did nothing, but turning it caused the display to turn on.  I was happy.

We got to the park before 1.  We parked and went into Fort Stockton.  We found the cheapest fuel, but it was still expensive.  We needed 32 gallons.

After that we went to Wally World for a couple of things.  Then we decided to drive down the main drag.  That resulted in stops at a burger place, Tractor Supply, and ACE.  Then it was back home to feed the pets.

I took the dog for a walk and then watched TV.  Ellen spent a large part of the rest of the evening on the can.

Tomorrow is another 300 miles to Las Cruses.  There's an East wind tonight.  Hopefully it will continue tomorrow.

Day 2705

I woke up about, played games briefly, and then got up for breakfast.  Ellen did the pet stuff.

There was another thunderstorm last night.  It wasn't as big as the last one, but it was pretty heavy.  The club decided to delay things an hour again.  That means we didn't shoot until 4:30=].

It was cold and windy, so I decided to tackle another couple of chores.  I didn't do them yesterday because I knew that they would be a pain in the ass.  The first was fixing the refrigerator light fixture.  It had come out of the wall.  It was held in by this cheap plastic friction fastener.  I replaced it with a screw.  The job wasn't hard, but it took time.

The second job was hooking the TV audio to the receiver.  I started by removing all of the cables and hardware that the DirecTV box used.  I'd left them in case we didn't like Starlink.  Then I totally disconnected the receiver.  I had to do that to identify all of the unlabelled cables in the rats nest behind it.  I needed the truck stool to get to everything.

I labelled all of the cables and routed a new one to the TV.  Of course that involved drilling a hole.  I also had to route the subwoofer cable again because it had come off.  Finally I reconnected the receiver.  After Ellen spent a little time programming the remote it all worked perfectly.

That task took several hours.  When I was done I had lunch.  Then it was outside to dump the tanks.  We took the dog and garbage to the dumpster.  Then I had a little over an hour to surf before going to the club.  It was 59 degrees, cloudy, and windy.

When we got to the course there were only 40 targets.  That's because the big storm had rained it out.  It was fun though and I actually shot a little better.  We didn't get done until after 6.

We stopped at HEB for fuel and groceries.  That took longer than it should have because the deli was packed.  We also stopped at Whataburger on the way home.  It wasn't as bad as we remembered.

After we got home there were a bunch of chores - line up the truck, clean mud off our shoes (4 pairs), clean mud off the floor, feed the pets, and put the guns away.  It was after 8 before we got to eat.

The very short evening was a little TV and some surfing.

Saturday, April 22, 2023

Day 2704

I woke up a little before 8 and played games for a while.  Then it was up for pet stuff and breakfast.  After breakfast was a whole lot of little chores.

I worked out the problem with my remote control - it was operator error.  I relabeled the buttons so it wouldn't happen again.  I also hooked up the sewer hose.  I'll dump the tanks either tomorrow morning or evening.  I redid the screen door latch that had been interfering with the entry door.  We'll see if it works.  I also sprayed the door hinges with silicon.  Finally Ellen and I rinsed all of the mud off the truck.

All that and lunch took until it was time to go to the club to shoot at 1.  The weather was great, we weren't.  We both sucked badly.  Either than that it was fun though.

After that we went to Academy.  I needed a new pair of shower sandals.  The old ones broke this morning.  I couldn't find the ones I wanted and ended up buying other ones for $40. Crap.

We went back to the club with Abby.  We walked vendor's row, but there wasn't anything interesting.  We sat at the clubhouse and waited for dinner.  It was pretty good.  I had brisket and Ellen had chicken.  Abby got a lot of pulled pork, chicken, broccoli, and Parmesan cheese.  She also got an incredible amount of petting.  One guy had a full grown GSP.  She went nut plain with it.

We went home a little before 7.  The rest of the evening was surfing and TV.

Friday, April 21, 2023

Day 2703

I woke up about 8 and played games for over an hour.  We didn't shoot until 11:30.  I had to do a bunch of stuff I couldn't do yesterday because of the rain.  At least the power came on during the night.

I got out the 12 ga stuff and put it in the truck.  Before I could do that I had to use a mop to clear the tree junk off the truck.  It took a while to rearrange the ammo.  I got done with everything just before it was time to leave.

The light at Wiseman was out causing a big back up.  Fortunately we got through it fairly quickly.  It did put us behind though.  When we got to the course everything was mud.  It was hard to walk.  At least it was cloudy and cool.

Both of us shot really poorly.  I hadn't shot the Perazzi since last October and it felt heavy and clumsy.  I had fun though once things dried out some and we got off the wettest part of the course.

When we were done we stopped at Lowe's to return the faucet we bought yesterday.  Then we went home and had sandwiches for lunch.  I cleaned my 20 ga and then put both 20 ga's away.  I took a little time to surf and then we took Abby to the club.

Unfortunately Abby barfed on the way.  Ellen was prepared though and caught most of it in a barf bag.

Unfortunately most of the vendors were shut because there wasn't any power.  We walked vendors row ith Abby anyway.  She got to meet and greet a lot of people.

When that was done we went over to the clubhouse, sat and had lemonade until they served the food.  Abby was a hit there, too.

After the food was served and we ate we sat there a little longer before going home to feed the pets.

The rest of the evening was surfing and TV.

Day 2702

I woke up at 7:45 and got up to do the pet stuff and have breakfast.  Then it was moving all of the stuff out to the truck.  We had a little free time and then it was off to the club.

The weather was cloudy, but fairly warm.  We shot FITASC first.  I had a good time.  It was slow though.  I shot a 21 and a 20, which was second place on the squad.  The targets were REALLY good.

When the shoot was over we went to Lowe's and bought another faucet.  We took it home and I removed the existing one.  I wanted to see what was wrong, so I unscrewed the diffuser.  It was totally clogged by grains of rock.  There was a little more in the output port.  I cleaned it all out and took it outside to test.  It worked fine, so I reinstalled it.  It was the same amount of work as replacing it, but we didn't have to buy a new one.

I got done with that task just in time to go shoot the 20 ga.  I shot a low 80's score - not bad, but certainly not my best day.  I really like the shotgun though.  When we got home we ate dinner at the club again.  While we were there a big thunderstorm came up (red).  We had fun watching the lighting, but decided to leave just as the rain started.

By the time we got home it was raining pretty hard.  It just started raining even harder and the wind came up.  There was a lot of tree stuff hitting the trailer.  It had me worried because it sounded like hail.  The dog didn't want to go out, but we forced her.

The power went out during the storm.  It got hot and muggy in the trailer.  The rain stopped by bed time, so we took showers in the bath house using flashlights.

Another thunderstorm came through during the night.  It was just as strong, but didn't last as long.

Day 2701

I woke up at 8, did the pet stuff, and had breakfast.  Then it was out to do the final prep for leaving.  I seriously underestimated the amount of work left to do.

It seemed to take forever to haul out the remaining stuff - toiletries, underwear, electronics, etc.  It didn't help that at times there was a light rain.  Hooking up took a little longer too because I was out of practice.  I'd totally forgotten about the tires - removing the covers, airing them up (both truck and trailer), and torquing the trailer wheels.  I'd wanted to get out by 11 or so.  We didn't leave until almost noon.

We stopped at the place in 1626 that I'd stopped at yesterday to get a safety certificate for the trailer.  We waited for over an hour for them to get to us.  All total it took an hour and a half.  I did go get lunch at Sonic while we waited.  That was a plus.

The trip to the RV park was fast and easy.  We even did a regen that ended just before we got to the park.  There was more trouble there though.  When I connected the water the bathroom faucet didn't work.  I unloaded the basement and removed the wall to look at the pipes.  There were no leaks and I could verify that water was getting to the faucet.  That meant the problem was the faucet.  I put the wall back on, reloaded the basement, and we left for registration.  We had an hour before they closed.

We got there in time despite some traffic delays.  We registered and bought ammo.  Abby was a great hit.  I was very pleased with the way she behaved.  Everybody liked her.

They were having beer and hor'dourves, so that's what we ate for dinner.  Abby got her share, but we made sure she didn't think she was getting fed from the table.

After that we came home.  I put off the faucet problem to tomorrow.  We watched some TV (there's too many commercials).  Then I watched videos on my tablet.  I'm not sure I'll bother with the StarLink.

Day 2700

Today was a long day.  I got up a little after 8 for pet stuff and breakfast.  After breakfast it was house cleaning time.

Before I started cleaning I went out and put a charger on the Ranger battery.  Apparently the disconnect doesn't disconnect. I also put away the work tables in the garage so that there would be room for the car.

Back in the house I cleaned off both the corner table and the kitchen table.  Then I gave them both a good scrubbing.  They were filthy.  After that it was vacuum the whole house time.  It took over 2 hours.  I also scrubbed down the pantry shelves.

The next step was packing up the shotguns.  I didn't want to take them out to the trailer yet, so I stacked them by the door.  I took out a bunch of miscellaneous stuff that had been collecting instead.

I was planning on going to lunch.  However when I checked the Ranger battery it was clear it was beyond recovery.  Ellen spent some time locating a replacement.  Then I spent more time removing the old battery.  It wasn't easy because the connections were corroded on.

When the battery was out we drove to Kyle to get another one.  On the way back I stopped at a place that had good access to get the trailer safety checked.  I'll probably stop there on the way to San Antonio tomorrow.

The trip took a little over an hour.  When we got back I installed the new battery whole Ellen started washing the car.  Installation took a while because one of the clamps wouldn't fit.  Eventually I got it on and took the Ranger around the development to get good gas in the fuel system.  Then I parked it.

I helped Ellen a little with finishing up washing the car.  Then I put the cover on the Ranger while she did the wax.  I finished up by washing the car windows.  Finally I put the car in the garage and hooked up the battery maintainer.

I didn't have lunch and was very hungry.  We took the truck to the post office and Chedder's.  Unfortunately on the way home Ellen shit all over herself and the truck seat.  She dealt with that while I loaded the shotguns and gun stuff into the car.  My remote won't work even though I put a new battery in it.

Abby finally got out of the bin.  She'd been there almost all day.  I played with her and did a little surfing.  Then it was bedtime.

The checkin time tomorrow is 2.  That means we shouldn't leave here much before 11:30.  That should give us plenty of time to do the last minute things.

Finally I put away my wash and made the bed.  Ellen was still alternating between cleaning the truck and sitting on the can.

Day 2699

I woke up about 8, played games, and then got up for pet stuff and breakfast.  The plan for today was to continue moving stuff into the trailer and then clean the house.

The moving into the trailer went pretty well.  Ellen moved most of the food into the refrigerator along with some pantry stuff.  I moved some miscellaneous stuff and the plants.  Moving the plants too a long time because I had to repair the plastic guard around the plants.  It turned out to be one of those jobs where everything took a lot more time than it should have.

To top things off the battery in my trailer door remote wore out.  It turns out to be this weird mini-AAA.  We'll get some from Amazon tomorrow.

We went to Torchy's in Belterra for lunch.  We took the dog.  That was a mistake.  She got car sick again and puked.  She was a hit at lunch though.  Everyone loved her.  When we got home I discovered that the seat protector in the Audi wasn't waterproof.  That resulted in quite a bit of cleaning of the back seat.

When I was done I didn't feel like cleaning the house.  It can wait until tomorrow.  Instead I watched videos and played with the dog.

The dog is having a hard time controlling pissing.  We think she has an infection.  She pissed twice in the house.  We took her out many times.  She would try to piss several times, with only a little coming out.

I had a HEB salad for dinner.  After dinner was playing with the dog and listening to SciFi.

Day 2698

I woke up a little before 8, played games for a while, and then got up for pet stuff and breakfast.  After that I started moving stuff to the trailer.

I moved a bunch of miscellaneous stuff to the trailer, from food to clothes.  I also moved stuff to the truck - ammo, water, and the gun cart.  The truck is fully loaded except for fuel.

I was tired of work, work, work, so I also took some time and attached some magnets I'd ordered to a shelf.  I'd been meaning to do it all winter.  Then I attached the shelf to one of the garage cabinets. Just a little more storage space.  I immediately filled it up.

I also put Stabil in the Audi and put gas in both the mower and the Ranger.  The gas had Stabil in it, too.

By then it was lunch time.  We went and got pizza, chiefly to burn some fuel in the Audi.  We took our time eating and relaxed.

When we got home we spent some time trying to make up an itinerary.  We won't be able to stay in our favorite place in Tucson.  It's full.  I hate Baby Boomers.  We'll have to stay at the casino instead.  Oh well.  We couldn't figure out where to go after Tucson because Ben Avery isn't open to make reservations until Tuesday.

After that frustration I went out and did the mowing.  It was hot and very dusty.  I took a shower when I was done.

Dinner was more of the pizza.  After dinner was videos.

I didn't get much time to play with the dog today.  I was outside most of the day.

Saturday, April 15, 2023

Day 2697

I woke up about 7, played games for quite a while, and then got up for pet stuff and breakfast.  After breakfast I went out to got some things done in preparation for leaving.

I calculated how much ammo we needed to take with us.  Then I spent some time in the garage selecting what to take.  Eventually I loaded it all onto the truck.  I also put the cart in the truck along with a case of water.  That pretty much completes loading the back of the truck.

By then it was time to meet Lee.  he had his dog with him at the gate.  We went out along with Abby.  Abby and his dog hit it off.  Soon they were running around and playing with each other.  We ended up going to Lee's place because his fence would hold the dogs.  We talked for an hour or so while the dogs ran around having fun.  Abby was having a great time.

We went back home.  Abby shit and pissed on the way, so we thought she was fine.  We put hr in the bin and the cats in the cat room and drove off to have lunch.  We ate pizza and then stopped at the snow cone place on Slaughter.  I think that today was the first day it was open.  The snow cone was great.

When we went back into the house Abby has shit and pissed in the crate.  The shit was diarrhea.  I tied Abby on the porch and then we took the crate and it's contents outside.  I washed everything with the hose and laid it out to dry.  Then we got Abby and gave her a thorough bath.  Ellen did most of the bathing while I continued to clean up.

When that was done we tied Abby up on the porch again while we cleaned the interior of the Audi.  By the time we were done it was hot.  We needed to get something else done though, so we decided to wash and wax the truck.  That was a long hot process.  We didn't get done until 6:30 or so.  The truck will be ready to go once it's fueled up.

We went back inside to feed the pets.  Abby was looking kind of sick.  She'd thrown up some toy stuffing on the deck and was drooling.  At first she didn't want to eat.  Then Ellen put some chicken hearts in with it and suddenly it was good.  After dinner Abby just went to her bed and laid down.

Ellen and I surfed.  Over time Abby perked up.  In an hour or so she was begging when we ate a late dinner.  By the end of the evening she seemed to be OK except for being very tired and maybe a little sore.  That's to me expected given all of the running she did today.

Day 2696

I woke up about 8 and played games for a while.  Then it was up for pet stuff and breakfast.  After that it was off for errands.

We had to go to the lawyer to pick up the wills before 11, so that was the first stop.  Then we went to the pert store to get some cat food and dog treats.  After that it was Costco followed by Walgreen's.  The final stops were the Italian place for lunch and Tomlinson's for dog treats.  It was quite a trip.

I'd planned on either cleaning the interior of the Audi or mowing the lawn when we got home.  I did neither because it was raining.  Instead I decided to modify my new shoes.  The shoes have a tongue that retreats into the shoe when I tried to slip them on.  I decided to fix the problem by sewing the tongue to the sides of the shoe.

When I tried to find an appropriate spool of thread and I needle I ran into the mess in the sewing door.  Tools, thread spools, and needles were just piled in the drawer.  It was impossible to find anything.  Part of the problem was that the partitions in the drawer had come loose.  That was because they were too long for the drawer.

I ended up emptying out the drawer and taking the partitions out to the garage so I could cut the to length.  I installed the partitions and rearranged everything.  It's great now, but I expect Ellen to have it a disorganized mess again shortly.

I spent quite a while sewing the shoes.  I had to use a pair of pliers to force the needle through the sides of the shoe and the tongue.  The result looks like it will work.  We'll see.

I've left out the several time outs during the day when I took the dog out, played with her, or chastized her for doing something untoward.

Ellen fixed steak for dinner.  After dinner I watched videos with the cats.  They were really feeling left out.

Lee texted me.  He wants to meet tomorrow at 11 so we can give Reagan her present.

Thursday, April 13, 2023

Day 2695

I woke up at 8, got up and did the pet stuff and had breakfast.  After taking out the garbage I left to go to the Urologist.

I got there at 9:30.  I was amazed.  There was no other patients in the place.  I got in right away.  I pissed in their glass and had a finger stuck up my ass.  The good news is that my PSA number hasn't changed.  I was out of there by 10.

I got home in time to take Abby to the vet.  The vet wasn't concerned about her infection.  She said it goes away on its own for most puppies.  Abby got her shots, but she's still not ready to meet the public.  Apparently she need another shot in about 3 weeks.

We stopped at Tomlinson's on the way home.  We bought 30 cans of cat food and a harness for Abby for use in the car.  Then it was over to Mighty Fine for hamburgers.  It was Abby's first meal at a restaurant.  She did pretty well except that she was a little noisy.

When we got home I did a bunch of little tasks.  I took some more stuff to the trailer.  I also tested the sprayer.  It worked.  Then I put it away.  Ellen went to a lesson.  I had doggy duty.  I played with her for a while.  She insisted on tearing up the carpet, so that got her some bin time.

Ellen fixed ham with mack and cheese for dinner.

After dinner I abandoned the dog and sat in the recliner with the cats.  We watched a movie and then some videos.

Day 2694

I woke up at 6:30 to take a piss.  Ellen took the dog out and then we both went back to sleep until about 8.  After that it was up for pet stuff and breakfast.  After that I went out to the garage.

I put away some bungee cords I bought a while back.  It took a while because there were 36 of them.  Then I rearranged the ammo a little to make room for the stuff Ellen was going to buy today.  Finally I glued the sprayer pump.  We'll see if it works.

When that was done I went back to the house.  After a little surfing I went outside with the dog.  Ellen came, too.  We sat on the deck and let Abby go around on the check cord.  Unfortunately she still managed to get into the pond.  We had to take her into the bathroom and put her in the tub.  She wasn't super happy with the experience, but she didn't seem to mind it too much.

I texted Joe about meeting.  He said he'd text in the evening, but he didn't.  I'll try again tomorrow.

I brought the dog in because it was getting hot on the deck.  I did some reading and then Ellen went to the club.  I put the dog in the bin and took a walk.  It was hot, but I enjoyed listening to YouTube SciFi recordings.  When I got back I fed everybody and then took a shower.  It was a hot walk.

When Ellen got home I put the ammo she bought in the garage.  It all fit perfectly.  Then I put another layer of glue on the pump.

I went back into the house and spent the rest of the evening on videos.  Ellen had dog duty.  Abby had been a little bit of a pain in the ass after dinner.  She's getting better at jumping on the chairs.

Day 2693

I woke up a little before 8 and got up to do the pet stuff and breakfast.  The "traditional" early morning game playing doesn't happen anymore.  The dog wakes us up.  Ellen takes her out while I get up to start preparing the pet meals.  I had three goals today: put down Casoron, do errands, and get a haircut.

Ellen had a therapy session at 9.  When she left I went out to put down Casoron on the gravel.  When that was done I took a shower and then surfed and played with the dog until Ellen got back.  When she did we left to do errands.  We went to the post office, got a card for Lee's daughter, got sealant for the sprayer pump and DEF, had lunch at the Cajun place (we had a coupon), stopped at HEB, and got money at Wells Cargo.

When we got home we put everything away and put the DEF in the truck.  Then Ellen cut my hair.

Outside with the dog wasn't very entertaining today.  She wouldn't do any retrieves.  She just wanted to sit in the sun.  She did do one notable thing.  For the first tie she got up onto a chair.  From there she got on the table.  She was shown that this was a bad idea.  However, I'm sure the lesson will need repeating.

Ellen fixed shrimp and noodles for dinner.  It was really good.  After dinner was videos and scifi readings.

Day 2692

I woke up about 8 and got up to do pet stuff and breakfast.  After breakfast I surfed for a while.

I did want to get something accomplished today, so I started moving things into the trailer.  I moved some clothes and toiletries as well as the quilt that Ellen had washed and mended.  I also moved some other miscellaneous stuff like cat food, RC stuff, and cameras.  It didn't take all that long, but it made me feel like I'd done something.

The spraying I did has really had an effect on the weeds.  I still need to put down the Casoron, but that won't take long.  The lawn keeps getting higher.  With only a week until we leave I will need to do the mowing soon.

The rest of the day was surfing, videos, and the dog.  The good news is that she does bumper retrieves outside.  She isn't consistent though and I have to use the check cord.  The bad news it that she's big enough now to jump up and get things off the edge of the table.  In a week or so this will be a real problem.

Ellen went to the club, so I had a frozen dinner.  The dog just wasn't minding me at all.  That earned her a trip to the bin.  After dinner was just more videos.

Tomorrow will be errands and probably the Casoron.  I'd like to repair the sprayer also id that's possible.

Day 2691

I woke up at 7:30 and got up for pet stuff and breakfast.  I'd planned on moving some stuff to the trailer today, but ended up doing basically nothing.  I just surfed and watched videos.

I stumbled on  trove of scifi short stories on YouTube.  They are highly entertaining.  I spent most of the day listening to them.  I even took a walk and listened to them on the walk.

There was a coupon for Mighty-Fine in the mailbox.  We used it for dinner.

Abby was a pretty good dog today.  Unfortunately for her she can't grasp the concept of "go to your bed".  That means she spend a lot more time in her bin than is really necessary.

Hooch sent us a picture of his puppy.  It weighs almost twice as much as Abby.  I'd like Abby to stop growing at that size.  I'm pretty sure that won't happen.

Day 2690

I woke up about 8, played games for a while, and then got up for pet stuff and breakfast.  It was a perfect day for spraying - overcast and mid 50's.  I went outside and got the mower out of the play house.

Getting the mower out was a chore.  I had a hard time getting it out the door.  There's only an inch or so of clearance.  Then I got out the sprayer and took it over to get filled with water.  When I tested the pump it didn't work.  I took it apart, but couldn't find anything wrong.

I went inside to find a replacement.  I found one on Amazon.  Looking at the descriptions "self priming" gave me an idea.  I went outside, took the pump apart and primed it.  It worked after that.  I put in the herbicide, filled up the tank and got to spraying.

I had enough to do all of the gravel area with special attention paid to the places with weeds already growing.  I had about a gallon left when the pump stopped working again.  I took it apart, primed it again, and put it back together.  It ran, but poorly.  I managed to slowly drain the rest of the tank.  In the process I located the problem.  The pump housing doesn't seal completely.  I'll get some sealant and try to repair it.  If that doesn't work I'll buy a new pump.

I put everything in the garage.  I'll need to work on the pump and I'll definitely need to mow the lawn.  It's grown a lot in just the last few days.

I went back inside, threw my clothes in the washer, took a shower, and then had lunch.  After lunch I sat in the recliner.  You guessed it.  I fell asleep and didn't wake up for 2 hours or more.  I woke up just in time to feed the animals.

Ellen fixed sausage for dinner.  After dinner I watched videos for a while and then surfed.

Day 2689

I woke up a little before 8 and got up to do pet stuff and breakfast.  It was another rainy day.  We ended up getting .84".  That meant more surfing and videos.

Abby brought a squirrel over to me to play fetch.  I switched to a bumper and she did a lot of good retrieves.  I was very pleased.

About 11 I decided to go get the oil changed in the truck.  It was raining pretty good and the wipers weren't working very well.  The truck just turned 30,000 miles, so I had them replace the wipers and the engine filter as well as the oil. Then bill was about $250.

After that we went to the pizza place in Dripping Springs.  I had a sandwich and a mango margarita.  Then it was HEB for some groceries.  On the way back we stopped at the rum distillery.  I'd wanted to go there for a while.  I had a mojito and bought a bottle of rum.

When we got home I sat down to watch videos.  Remember the two drinks?  I lasted a very short time before taking a long nap.  I woke up in time to feed the pets dinner.

Ellen fixed chicken strips and spaghetti for dinner.  After dinner I did more retrieves with Abby using the ball.  She really likes chewing on it.

After that it was back to the TV.  I needed to give the cats some time.  We watched Baby Yoda and then part of a Disney movie.  I finished up with some videos.

Hopefully the weather is better tomorrow.

Day 2688

I woke up about 8, did the pet stuff and had breakfast.  After that it was surfing and playing with thedog, for the whole day.

It rained almost continually the whole day, over 2" total.  I had some stuff to take to the trailer but it was too wet to do so.

Abby was pretty good.  She spent a lot of time playing with Devon.  He puts up with a lot.  She doesn't like rain though.  All of the bathroom trips were short and to the point.  At one point she brought a squirrel over to me so we could play fetch.  That made me very happy.

Ellen fixed spaghetti for dinner.  After dinner I turned on the TV and watched a very weird movie.  I actually turned it off before it was done because I didn't really care what happened.

Day 2687

I woke up at 7:30, got up and did the pet stuff and had breakfast.  It was almost as windy as yesterday, so there wasn't going to be any spraying.  I took out the garbage and then surfed until it was time to take Ellen to the doctor.

Ellen's appointment took quite a while.  When it was done we went to Lowe's.  I wanted to get deck screws to replace the ones I used repairing the apartment steps.  I probably won't need them soon, but I wanted them to be on hand.

After that we went to the pet store to get more cat food.  We ordered a pizza from the place next door.  Ellen waited for it while I went to get the mail.  I got back just as they served the pizza.  We had a nice lunch and then went home.

We played with the dog a lot when we got home.  She in turn played a lot with the cats.  actually it was only Devon.  Cooper hates her and attacked every time she got close.

Ellen left to go to the club leaving me alone with the dog.  I mostly played with her until animal feeding time.  I did put her in the bin for a while because I'd timed out.  I took her out just before feeding and she peed immediately on the lead.  I fed her and then let her play.  After half an hour she dropped what she was laying with and ran over to me.  I took her outside.  She wouldn't do anything on the lead, but when I let her off she both pissed and shit.  That was great.  I played with her a little and then it was back in the bin while I ate dinner.

She stayed in the bin until Ellen got home.  I wanted to finish watching a movie from yesterday.  Ellen took over doggy watching for the rest of the evening.  Abby spent a lot of the time with Devon.  They are really starting to play well together, at least until Devon gets tired of it.

I spent the rest of the evening watching videos.

Day 2686

I woke up a little after 8, got up and did the pet stuff and had breakfast.  After that it was a little surfing before I went out to do some work.  Abby pissed on the carpet in the same place she did yesterday.  There was also a turd nearby, we're not sure how long it had been there.

I changed the batteries on the battery charger.  I couldn't use them today anyway.  It was way too windy to spray poison.  I had an idea to somehow block the pond to keep the dog out.  Unfortunately it's too large.  Idea three was to fix the deck gate so that it didn't scrape anymore.

I tried repositioning the gate latch.  That didn't work.  Then I reinforced the gate post.  That helped a little.  Then I got out the belt sander and started sanding the boards under the gate.  That was working until my only belt broke.  I tested Ellen to get more at ACE on her way home from therapy and played with the dog until she got home.

When she got home I continued with the sander.  Eventually got the gate to work.  Unfortunately the gate latch doesn't latch easily now.  You have to make sure it latches when you close it.

I went back inside for lunch.  Ellen asked me to take the dog out to piss.  I did, but she just laid down and wouldn't move.  I brought her back in.  She frolicked for about a minute and then went over and pissed on the rug in the same place she's done it before.  I got pissed and threw her outside.  Then I got the bin, took it outside, and put her in it.

A little later Ellen got Abby out.  I managed to get Cooper on my lap.  Abby immediately came over to jump up and bug Cooper.  Cooper jumped away, clawing me.  Abby kept jumping, so I kicked her away.  She jumped again, so I kicked her again.  After that she stayed away.

There's a new rule in the house.  If Ellen isn't actually watching her, she's in the bin.  Clearly she thinks that the kitchen is a better place to piss than outside.

Ellen fixed steak for dinner.  We both watched Abby like a hawk.  After dinner I took her outside.  She wouldn't play with me.  It was nice out, so we stayed there until almost 8.

After we went back in we watched a couple of shows on HULU and part of a movie.

Day 2685

I woke up at 8 and got up to do the pet stuff and have breakfast.  I had a 10:30 doctor's appointment so there wasn't time to really do anything.  Instead I made up an errands list and surfed.  While I did that Ellen made an appointment with the vet to get Abby's urinary problem looked at.

The doctor's appointment was short, just a blood draw.  The next stops were Goodwill to drop off some stuff and Harbor Freight to get some long bungee cords.  Prices there have gotten a lot higher.

We went to the pet store for cat food and Costco for water.  After that it was Home Depot for more wood for the apartment steps.  That was good news.  Lumber was cheaper than I thought it would be.  We stopped at Culvers for lunch and HEB for groceries.

By the time we got home and unpacked it was time to go to the vet.  She wasn't overly concerned with the problem and wants to take a wait and see approach.  That's fine with us.

The weeds in the gravel area have covered enough area that I'll have to use the garden sprayer.  I bought some gas for the lawn mower.

When we got home Ellen packed up and went to the club.  I started on chores.  I got the mower and sprayer batteries out of the shed and put one on the charger.  Then I started on the stairs.  They were a pain.  I had to rebuild the stringers for two steps.  Then I had to replace a step I wasn't planning on because of a height mismatch.  That revealed more under structure that had to be repaired.  Did I mention that it was 95 degrees?

I finished the steps about 5:30.  I went inside and took a shower.  Then I fed the animals.  Abby was being a real pain in the ass.  I couldn't make my dinner.  She also pissed on the floor because I couldn't tell her jumping on me to go out from her jumping on me to be a pain.  I ended up just sitting on the deck with her outside.

Eventually Ellen got home.  That allowed me to eat dinner.  After the treat time at 8 I sat in the recliner so the cats would have some human time.  Cooper was really pissed because every time he sat in my lap Abby would jump up and scare him away.

Day 2684

I woke up at 8 today and got up to do pet stuff and breakfast.  I really didn't have much to do today.  I did spend some time watching videos on how to up the do from jumping up and doing retrieves.

I started using the anti-jumping techniques.  They are working, but slowly.  I didn't get around to doing the retrieve.

We mainly surfed and played with the dog today.  She did have a couple of episodes where she earned the bin.  However, she also did a great alert to me that she had to pee.  She still has the urinary infection that we noticed yesterday.  We'll get her into the vet tomorrow.

Abby and Devon are getting along great.  They play tag together and also sort of just mess around.  Unfortunately Abby has more energy than Devon.

Other than that nothing happened today.  I am feeling guilty for not going on a walk.

Day 2683

I woke up about 5:30.  No reason, the dog was quiet.  I managed to go back to sleep until 7:30.  The dog was still quiet and I played games for quite a while.  Eventually I got up for pet stuff and breakfast.  After breakfast I started on the list of things that I wanted to get done today.

The first thing on the list was putting up the new digital frame.  That went pretty easy, just take the card out of the old one and put it in the new one.  The only problem was plugging in the new power supply.  The dog wanted to help.  She started by climbing on my back and then graduated to trying to pull my pants down.  I did end up making all the cords under the table neater in spite of the help.

Next on the list was putting the new movement on the clock.  That went OK, too.  It's nice to see the pendulum moving for the first time in years.  Unfortunately the movement may run a little slow.  I'll probably know about it sometime tomorrow.

The final indoor activity was completing fitting the Power Wagon body to the frame.  That took a lot more measuring and cutting, but it's done now.  The process scratched the body's base coat of black paint.  Ellen took it out to the garage to repair the damage.

I started moving stuff to the trailer.  I took most of my RC stuff out to the garage.  I packed it up and put part of it in the trailer.  I've got a couple more things to go in the last box.  I also moved the dog food container into the trailer.  We won't need it until we're on the road.

From there I moved into the trailer.  I put away all of the stuff that had accumulated on the kitchen table.  There was a lot of it.  Then I did a little cleanup that we'd missed when we closed it up last fall.  Finally I added an extra hand hold to the new door railing.  I had initially bought it for the old railing.

That ended all of the stuff I had planned for today.  It took several hours to do and I was proud of myself.  I went inside and had a late lunch.

After lunch was dog stuff and videos for the rest of the afternoon.  Dinner was frozen stuff.  After dinner was videos and the latest Baby Yoda.

I think tomorrow will be a concentrate on dog training day.  We need to get Abby leash trained before we leave.  That's turning into a problem.  She's not taking to it at all.
