Day 1589

I woke up about 8 and played games until 9.  Then it was pet stuff and breakfast.  Ellen had an online course she wanted to watch at 11, so I surfed the morning away.

After lunch we made a short trip to CVS to pick up drugs for the biopsy.  They've scheduled two appointments - 5/13 and 6/4.  I'm not sure which is the biopsy.

After we got back I was tired of surfing.  I got out the marble maze and finished constructing it.  It works kind of neat.  I decided it needed motorizing, so I spent some time on Amazon looking for small electric motors and gear sets.

After that I went through a couple of old trailer supply catalogs.  I found a neat king pin tripod that's a big improvement from the one we have now.  So I ordered one.  I might get a bathroom fan for the trailer also if I can convince myself I want to go through the trouble of installing it.

Ellen fixed SPAM and potatoes for dinner.  I still like the way it tastes, but it's a lot saltier than I remember.

After dinner I went back to surfing.  Anything to avoid listening to the chick flicks.

Day 1588

I woke up at 7:30 and started playing games.  I was in a race with another guy.  I won.  That took until about 9, then it was pet stuff and breakfast.

I felt like I needed to accomplish something today, so I went out to the trailer.  I removed the partition behind the fireplace and relocated the wiring.  That allowed me to reposition the partition.  That gave me a little more storage room.  It wasn't much, but it made me feel better.

I also put batteries in an old pair of electronic ear muffs.  Only one side works.  I'll probably order new ones.  That was it for today's useful activity.

I went back to the house and surfed until lunch time.  After lunch I read until it was time for the call to the doctor.  The video conference didn't work, so I ended up without a phone call.  The doctor recommended a biopsy.  He said that there's a 40% chance I have cancer based on the PSA level and family history.  It won't be pleasant.

I said OK.  He said he'd have then schedule me in about a month.  Until then it's an "elective procedure" and the hospital's aren't doing those right now.

With that good news I went back to surfing.  Ellen fixed ham steaks and potatoes for dinner.  I think we are eating as good as when we went out, and it's a lot cheaper.  It's probably less calories, too.

After dinner we watched another movie - and old western.  It was really entertaining.  I don't seem to be reducing the disk usage though.  The DVR keeps recording new things.

Day 1587

We got up at 7:30 this morning.  It's shopping day and I wanted to get an early start.  After pet stuff we took the truck and left for HEB in Dripping Springs.  The Circle C store is a no go due to the number of people who go there.

It was 8:15 and there was almost no traffic.  We only saw one car between the house and 290.  We didn't see more than two dozen going to Dripping Springs.  The HEB parking lot was pretty full though.

This HEB had the deli closed, but the bakery open.  We bought everything we wanted except flour, diet bread, and water flavoring.  I don't understand the water flavoring.  We even got the last container of disinfectant wipes.

The next stop was the post office.  The final stop was CVS.  The pharmacy was closed though, so we'll have to go again tomorrow.

We got home about 10.  I didn't feel like doing anything, so after a late breakfast I did some surfing.  I looked for truck stuff (no luck).  I also decided I needed a new pair of shoes.  After some searching I ordered a pair from Amazon.  I don't like mail order shoes, but all of the shoe stores are closed.

After that I'd had enough surfing, so I read for most of the afternoon.  There might have been a nap in there someplace also.  Ellen fixed a really nice dinner - pork chops, asparagus, and mashed potatoes.

After dinner was TV and surfing.

Day 1586

I woke up about 8, then went back to sleep until a little after 9 and played games until 10.  Then it was pet stuff and breakfast.  There wasn't any point in getting up earlier because there was a thunderstorm going on.

When breakfast was done I went out to the trailer to install the speaker mounts that came yesterday.  I'd been looking forward to doing it.  The job was pretty straightforward.  Te only problem was I had to cut a spacer out of a piece of scrap steel.  Of course I used the Dremel.

When that was done I went back to the house.  I surfed until lunch time.  After lunch it was more surfing until both of us switched to TV.  I took Lucy to the mailbox.

Dinner was leftover stroganof.  After dinner was a movie.

Friday, March 27, 2020

Day 1585

I woke up a little before 8, turned over and dozed off an on until almost 10.  It was great.  Then it was pet stuff and breakfast.

I didn't feel like doing anything, so the rest of the morning was spent surfing.  I got interested in looking for toys to buy for the truck.  I didn't find any.

After lunch I'd had enough of surfing and started to watch TV.  Ellen fixed stroganoff for dinner.  It was really good.  After dinner I watched a movie.  I now have a goal of watching a recorded movie every night.  The DVR is 3/4 full, so I guess I'd better whittle it down.

Another exciting day of social distancing.

Day 1584

I got up at 8 today, did the pet stuff and had breakfast.  Then it was about an hour of surfing.  I stopped that and went to the repair shop to pick up my gun case.  Then it was back home.

When I got home I decided to work on the marble thing some more.  I worked on it for quite awhile.  Eventually it started to become work instead of fun, so I quit.  After a little surfing it was lunch time.

After lunch it was TV.  I'm really kind of burnt out on both the internet and games.  Mostly we watched things that werre recorded.  That way we don't have to watch the commercials.

Ellen fixed waffles and ham steaks for dinner.  After dinner I watched a recorded movie.  Ellen says I only record them, I don't watch them.  It was a pretty good movie. I'm going to have to watch some more.

I suspect these entries are going to get pretty short.  There really isn't much to write about.  We just sit around all day.

Wednesday, March 25, 2020

Day 1583

I got up at 8:15, did the pet stuff and had breakfast.  Then I went to physical therapy.  There were very few cars on the road.

Therapy went OK.  The therapist and I agreed to have another session in two weeks to see how I'm doing.  I stopped at the EB on Brody and William Cannon on the way home.

The HEB had both toilet paper and paper towels.  I bought both.  We now have a year's supply of paper towels.  They also had butter, eggs, and milk.  I bought butter and milk, we needed both.  I also got some dish soap.  The deli was open, but the bakery was closed.  Meat and produce were well stocked.  I got some more ham.  It's versatile.  They were out of flour though and Ellen wanted some.  All in all some sections were kind of bare, but there was plenty to choose from if you needed stuff.

I stopped at the post office on the way home.  The wooden marble toy I ordered was there.  Then I went home.

When I got home I got a text that said my gun case is in.  I also got a call from the doctor.  My blood test is good except my PSA has gone from 5 to 7.  The doctor recommended an urologist.  I called them and made an appointment.  It will be over the phone.  Doctors aren't seeing patients any more except if there's an emergency.

I started to work on the wooden toy.  It's a bunch of frames with wooden parts cut into them.  You break out the pieces and assemble them.  It's fun.  It's also complicated.  I worked for a couple of hours on it and I have a lot more to do.

Ellen fixed hamburgers for dinner.  After dinner was TV until there wasn't anything good to watch.  Then I surfed.  I've quit playing the game on the tablet.  It's not entertaining any more.

Tuesday, March 24, 2020

Day 1582

We got up at 7.  I wanted to go to the "seniors only" Costco opening.  Ellen didn't want to go, so I went by myself.

When I got there the parking lot was as crowded as it would be on a busy Monday,.  It was 10 minutes to opening and the line stretched clear around the building.  I didn't even park.  The Whole Foods had a line, too.

I drove over to Randall's to see what was there.  There was no line, that was good.  It didn't have any inventory either, that was bad.  There was now butter or eggs and only a few gallon milk containers.  The frozen food areas were really picked over.  Of course there was no drug, paper, or soap products.  The only bread was some wheat bread.  They did have lots of bakery products and a fairly full deli.  I bought a few things, mainly deli.

On the way home I stopped by HEB to see what it was like.  The parking lot was a little less full than it's been.  I walked to the front and saw the line.  It started on Escarpment, reached clear across the building, and then curved back to an entrance.  I turned around and went home.

When I got home I had breakfast and then did a little surfing.  People are saying that the government is distributing gas and travel papers to "essential" people.  That included Walmart cashiers.  That really worries me.

I was tired of surfing, so I spent the day reading a book on the naval engagements associated with Guadalcanal.  It's really interesting.

When I took the dog to the mailbox the belt I'd ordered was there.  At least that gives me a little chore to do tomorrow.

Dinner was leftover gumbo.  It was followed by more reading.

BTW, the temperature today was 90.  Summer is coming and I'm afraid we'll have to suffer through it.

Monday, March 23, 2020

Day 1581

I woke up at 8 and got up at 9.  After pet stuff and breakfast it was surfing until about 11.  Then we left so I could go to the doctor.  Ellen stayed in the car.

The blood test took only a few minutes.  After that we went to the post office and picked up the mail and a package.  The package contained a holster I ordered for the upcoming pistol class.  Then we went home.  Traffic was very light.  I can't remember ever seeing this few cars, even at early or late hours.

When we got home we decided to watch TV and surf.  I had a HEB salad for lunch.  About 3 I decided to go to the garage to accomplish something for the day.

I took the RG6 spools I took down yesterday to the back storage building.  I tried to set up the holster I received, but it didn't fit the belt.  So I went inside and ordered one.  I also tried to install the antenna adapter I'd bought.  It turned out to be the wrong type.  Crap.

I took the dog to the mailbox.  She was really happy.  Her limp is a lot better.  You can barely notice it because of her back problems.

Ellen fixed hamburgers for dinner.  After dinner was more TV and a little surfing.

The quarantine is really boring.

Sunday, March 22, 2020

Day 1580

Woke up at 9 and played games until 10.  There ws no reason to get up earlier, we weren't going anywhere.  After pet stuff and breakfast it was some surfing.  Then I decided to complete a long overdue task.

For two years the parts for an upper have been sitting on the top of the took cabinet in the garage.  I left them there to guilt me into assembling them.  I never did because putting one together is somewhat of a pain.  today I decided to do it.

The first step was to update my laptop.  I haven't used it since we got here.  It took over an hour to download and install the updates.  Then I took it and the DVD player to the garage.  I put in the assembly DVD to remind me what to do.

The first part of the assembly went pretty well.  I had a couple of new tools that helped a lot.  Then came the barrel nut and handguard.  I must have spent 45 minutes or more finally getting the right number of shims attached to time the handguard correctly.   By then it was almost 3, so I went in for a late lunch - frozen breakfast tacos.

Then I went out to finish the project.  The rest went smoothly, just easy to attach parts.  With the corner of the tool cabinet cleared I decided to rearrange stuff so I had more workspace.  I stacked some stuff up more neatly and moved other little used things to an upper shelf.  Now I have most of the tool cabinet top and some of the tool chest top to use as workspace.  By then it was 5, so I quit.

I went back to the house and watched Ellen's chick flick (while I played games).  When the flick was over we watched other TV.  Ellen fixed ham and macaroni and cheese for dinner.  After dinner was more TV.

Saturday, March 21, 2020

Day 1579

I woke up about 8 to play games for awhile before getting up.  Then it was pet stuff and breakfast.  It was raining a little today.

Some of the stuff I've been reading leads me to think that the government might restrict car travel through restricting who can buy fuel.  So I went out to buy some fuel cans.  We had to drive to a Tractor supply to get some.  I bought two cans.  Then I filled them up (gas and diesel).  I also filled my lawnmower's can.

We stopped at the HEB, but there was a line to get in so we just left.  Then we went home.  When we got home I unloaded everything into the garage and then went back to the house.

For some reason TV and surfing kept me entertained for the rest of the day.  Dinner was a sandwich and some birthday cake.  After dinner was more TV.  Perhaps I'll feel more ambitious tomorrow.

Friday, March 20, 2020

Day 1578

We woke up before 7.  The subwoofer in the bedroom was emitting a loud tone.  It turned out to be a worn out, cheap, input cord.  I reinserted it and the subwoofer quit making noise.  Unfortunately by then I was fully awake.  So I stayed in bed until 8 playing games.

When we got up it was pet stuff and breakfast.  After that it was time to do errands.  My goal is to only go out once a week.  I had a long list of stuff.  We started at CVS where we got cold medicine.  Then it was HEB.  It's shelves were more empty than they were a couple of days ago.  We got some stuff like hamburger helper and baby wipes that weren't available earlier.  On the bad side there was no paper products, dishwasher soap, butter, or had soap.  They've closed their deli indefinitely.

After the post office we went to Harbor Freight.  I planned on getting a gas can.  They didn't have any, but they did have disposable gloves.  They were even on sale and we bought 400.  We also stopped at the pet store and bought Lucy some diet dog food.  The last stop was the shoe repair place to pick up my gun case.  It was supposed to be ready yesterday.  Apparently the place really doesn't do any repairs.  They just send everything somewhere else.  They have no idea when my case will come back and will "call me when it comes in".

When we got home the garage I went to earlier about the truck exhaust called to say that they advised not modifying it because it could void the warranty.  I said thanks.

Lunch was cold cuts.  After lunch was TV and surfing.  It's been 50 degrees and raining all day.  We had a birthday cake from HEB with dinner.  I had frozen gumbo and Ellen had shrimp.  The gumbo is definitely not suitable for Ellen.

Hooch and family called to wish us happy birthday in the evening.

Thursday, March 19, 2020

Day 1577

We woke up about 8, but stayed in bed until 9.  Then it was pet stuff and breakfast.  After that it was a little surfing before I went out to the trailer to finish the fireplace work.

I took the drawer out again so that I could clamp the doors to the trim.  That allowed me to position them to within 1/16 of an inch of optimal.  Then I had Ellen come out to make sure she approved.

Attaching the doors went well.  I took it slow though to make sure they came out perfect.  Attaching the latches didn't go well.  The cheap Chinese screws that came with the latches kept breaking as I was screwing them in.  I spent quite a bit of time sorting through my screw collection for better ones that matched the latches.

I finally got the latches attached.  Then I did the cleanup.  First it was vacuuming.  Then it was 3 or 4 loads of tools to take back to the garage.  I'm actually going to be glad to have them all back where they belong.

By then it was almost lunch (HEB salad).  After that it was some surfing until the boredom set in.  We are now officially into avoid the public mode.  No more eating out and going out only when necessary.  There's not a lot of hard data yet, but it seems that the Chinese flu is pretty dangerous to old people like us.  Lee even called yesterday to see how we were doing.

I decided to build the big Lego crane I bought last year (2600 pieces).  It took me over two hours just to sort the fraction of the pieces I needed to build the first section.  Then I spent another couple of hours putting it together.  I got maybe halfway through the first section.  The thing is huge, at least 18" long.

Ellen fixed steak and potatoes for dinner.  Eating at home isn't that bad.

After dinner was surfing while Ellen watched chick flicks.

Wednesday, March 18, 2020

Day 1576

We got up at 8:15.  After pet stuff and breakfast we left for my physical therapy.  It was the standard stuff.  It's encouraging that there's been a definite improvement.  The therapist and I agreed that I'd only need one more session.

We were headed to the post office and home when the trailer dealer called.  The cabinet doors for the trailer had arrived.  So we went home via the post office.

We changed to the truck when we got home.  We drove the the dealership and picked up the parts.  Then we stopped at Cabela's.  There was a long line of people buying guns.  The ammo was almost completely sold out.  Ellen bought a shirt and I bought a tool for installing scopes.  We paid with gift cards we'd forgotten we had.

We stopped for drive thru hamburgers and then went home.  When we got home I went out and reinstalled the scope on the air rifle.  The new tool worked great.  Then I unpacked the cabinet doors.  I took some measurements of the existing doors to determine where to install the new hardware.  I wanted to make sure the new doors match the old.

Then I went to the garage and painstakingly installed the hinges and handles on the new doors.  It took quite awhile, but I think the end result came out almost perfect.  I'll install them tomorrow and the fireplace project will be complete.

After that I took the dog to the mailbox.  She dragged her ass all the way to the mailbox.  She magically got much better as soon as we started back.  Weird.

Ellen fixed ham steaks and strawberry pancakes for dinner.  It was very good.  After dinner it was TV.  I'm still batting near 0 on the games.

Tuesday, March 17, 2020

Day 1575

Today was pretty good except for gaming.  I spent from 8 to 10 in bed competing with another player.  I lost.  Then it was pet stuff and breakfast.  After that I spent some tim looking up exhaust places.  I found one that looked promising on Manchaca.

A squirrel showed up at the bird feeders.  Squirrels have been decimating the feeders.  Ellen has to fill them every day.  I killed two yesterday and got this one today.  Hopefully that will reduce the depredation.

We left for the exhaust place.  The guys there were nice and seemed capable.  They said they wouldn't do the work until they confirmed that it wouldn't void my warranty.  I left my name and they'll call back.

On the way back we stopped at Randall's.  It was a little after noon and the checkout lines stretched to the back of the store.  I said bag it.  Many of the other stores had coronavirus signs.

We went on to Costco.  Ellen was feeling bitchy and stayed in the truck.  They weren't letting anyone into the store.  I had to wait 20 minutes to get in.  There weren't many people inside.  I got water, hamburger, and mango strips.  They didn't have any paper products, not even napkins.  It didn't take any time to check out.

The last stop was the post office.  Traffic at the Y was really light.  When we got home I decided to hook up the trailer to see how things went.

I was really happy with the result.  When hooked up the front of the trailer is at most 1.25 inches higher than level.  It may be a little less.  It took some time to hook up because I'm not practiced on figuring out how high the pin should be.  The lights work perfectly.

We had leftovers for a late lunch.  I had a rum and coke in honor of St. Patrick's day.  After that it was a little surfing and maybe a slight nap.  I took the dog to the mailbox.  I could hear thunder as I left and it started to rain some while I was walking out and back.  I got back just in time.  The skies opened up and we got half an inch of rain in about 5 minutes.

Ellen fixed BLT's for dinner.  I think it will be awhile before we eat out again.  After dinner was TV and a complete failure at playing games.

Monday, March 16, 2020

Day 1574

I woke up about 8 and spent two hours playing games.  I was in a race with another player.  I won.  Then it was pet stuff and breakfast.  After breakfast there was a little surfing and then we went to HEB.  I needed cereal.

There were NO empty spaces in the parking lot even though it was almost noon.  We got a cart and started buying things.  We bought the cereal along with a lot of stuff so we would have some food reserves if necessary.  I can't believe I'm saying this.  We got basically everything we wanted except hamburger, fresh bread, and TP.

When we were finished we went to Tomlinson's.  We were low on kitty litter, cat food, and dog food.  The lady there said that this morning they were only letting 3 people at a time into HEB.  Apparently the line of people stretched down the street.

We went home to "shelter in place".  It was raining again, so there was no doing things outside.  I was bored with surfing, so I built a Lego.  I took Lucy to the mailbox.  She isn't walking very good.  I'm not sure I'll do it again.  She's really having a hard time getting up and getting around.  She had me worried.

Ellen fixed ham, waffles, and sausage for dinner.  It was really good.  After dinner was TV.

Sunday, March 15, 2020

Day 1573

I woke up at 8 and played games until 9.  Then it was pet stuff, breakfast, and a little surfing.  I took Ellen out to the trailer so she could help me put the drawer back in.  I also wanted to hook up the truck and trailer.  Unfortunately it started raining, so that was out.

In stead we decided to take Lucy for a bath.  She was smelling like a dog.  She worried me because she was limping badly.  It seems she might have hurt herself when she jumped out of the truck.  It doesn't seem to be really bad though because the more she exercises the better it gets.

Of course Lucy got a treat after the bath.  Then we went to one of the restaurants there for lunch.  That was the end of any real activity today.  It rained the rest of the day.  So we spent it inside surfing and watching TV.

Dinner was a HEB dinner.

Saturday, March 14, 2020

Day 1572

I woke up at 8 and played games until a little after 9.  Then it was pet stuff and breakfast.  After breakfast there was some surfing.  I looked for some accessories for the truck.  I also looked for instructions for installing them.  That involved a couple of trips out to the truck to look at different things.  I also wrote up what I'd done to put in the new trailer fireplace.

I also went out to the trailer to look for a set of ear muffs.  I found them, so it won't be necessary for me to buy new ones.  Then it was more surfing until it was time to take Lucy to get her toenails cut.

We got there just as they were supposed to start.  Unfortunately they were running late.  So we went across the parking lot for lunch.  They were having brunch, so we had that instead.  Their drinks were very expensive.  I wanted something.  They had a carafe of mimosa's for the same price as a drink, so I had that.

Wen we were finished with lunch Lucy got her toenails clipped.  They did a really good job.  She doesn't click on the floors anymore.  We needed some AAA batteries, so after that we went to Wally World.  The paper shelves and some others were just as bare as HEB.  I still don't understand why butter is valuable.

The last stop was Central Market.  We'd bought some really good jelly beans there and I wanted more.

When we got home I started to surf and ended up napping.  I woke up in time to feed the pets.  After dinner was a little more surfing and a lot of TV.

Friday, March 13, 2020

Day 1571

I woke up at 8, and played games until 10.  Then it was pet stuff.  Lucy's ass was dragging and she didn't eat much.  We took her with us anyway.

We stopped at the donut place on Slaughter on the way to the Range.  I talked to a guy there and we settled on the Rifle and Pistol introductory courses.  The pistol course is on the 4th.  The rifle course isn't until just before Thanksgiving.

I needed some ammo for the pistol course, so we decided to go to Cabela's.  I wanted to take the truck, so we stopped at the post office first.  We needed to mail Alicia's birthday present.  Lucy had to go out there - diarrhea.  Ellen was looking at Cabela's on the way home.  Their prices sucked.  When we got home I got on the internet.

It turns out Academy had some at a not too bad price.  They also had a red dot sight I want for the rifle class.  I don't need it, but I want it.  They had a good price on it, too.

We left for Academy.  I left Lucy at home because she was still acting like she didn't feel well.  When we got to Academy they only had one of the red dots left.  I bought it even though it was the demo unit.  The manufacturer isn't making it any more.  The ammo dept looked like the bad old days when Obama got elected.  There were a lot of empty shelves.  We found a few boxes of 9mm pushed back in a bottom shelf, so we were OK.  I actually bought a little extra in case the stupidity continues.

We hadn't had any lunch.  So we ate at the Waterloo Icehouse.  It was after 3, so we got happy hour prices.  Afterwards we went to HEB because I wanted a cake for dessert.  It was amazing.  All of the paper towels and toilet paper was gone.  I'm not sure how dishwasher soap, butter, bananas, meat, and boxed meals keep you from getting the flu, but they were all gone too.  People were idiots.  We looked at CVS and they were out of toilet paper, too.

We didn't get home until almost 5.  I didn't take the dog to the mailbox because I didn't think she felt good.  She did eat with gusto though.  After dinner she went ut several times.  I think she still has an upset digestive tract.

About 7 I had a ham sandwich for a late dinner.  Ellen fixed garlic bread.  The rest of the evening was TV.

Thursday, March 12, 2020

Day 1570

We got up at 8:15 this morning, did the pet stuff, and left for the physical therapist.  We got there in plenty of time.  In fact, traffic was pretty good.

I've made some improvement from last week.  I can even yawn occasionally without pain.  The therapist noticed an improvement when she was working on me.  They added one more exercise to my "homework".

After that was done we stopped at Randall's to get a birthday card for Alicia.  Ellen also insisted we by paper towels and toilet paper.  The shelves weren't bare, but they weren't completely full either.

We stopped at the post office.  Then I drove on 290 almost all of the way to Nutty Brown.  There's a shoe repair place there.  I dropped off my gun case.  A strap broke on it.  They said it would be $15 and be done in a week.

By then it was lunch time, so we went to Belterra.  We ate at the BBQ place.  The web said it wasn't very good, but we thought it was OK.  We also stopped next door at Pieous for dessert.  That was really good.  We walked from there to Tomlinson's so Lucy could have a treat.

It was hot and muggy by then.  I called the range.  They said to come in tomorrow.  Judging from their website, this "prize" will cost me several hundred dollars for ammo, equipment, and possibly a prerequisite class.  I don't mind.

I really didn't have anything to do, so after that it was surfing, TV and a nap.  Dinner was leftovers.

After dinner I went out to bring in the garbage cans.  Then I disassembled all of the hitch boxes, cut them up, and took them to the recycle can.  It's about 2/3 full now.  I noticed some more bare places in the driveway, so I got out the cart and spread 3 loads to cover them.

It was still hot and humid, so I was covered in sweat when I was finished.  I took a shower and then spent the rest of the evening surfing.

Wednesday, March 11, 2020

Day 1569

I woke up about 8, but stayed in bed playing games until after 10:30.  Then it was pet stuff and breakfast.  I loaded up the truck and we went to Capital City.

The day was really nice.  It was high 70's, but there was a breeze.  I'm really improving.  I'm not back to my old form, but I'm getting much closer.

It was after 2 by the time we were finished.  We stopped at the place across from Harbor Freight for a late lunch.  The food was good, but our waitress was a loser.  We had to ask for our food.  It was ready, she just didn't bring it out.  Lucy jumped out of my arms when I was getting her out of the truck.  She limped for awhile, but seemed to walk it off.

I watched a little TV when we got back, then I took the dog to the mailbox.  She kind of dragged ass all of the way.  It was hard to tell if she hurt, or if she just wanted dinner.

We had an HEB dinner for a late dinner.  After dinner was more TV.

Before we left this morning The Range called to say that I'd won two days of instruction at their birthday party.  I didn't get around to calling them back today to find out the details.  I tried to look up their offerings on their website, but it was down.

Tuesday, March 10, 2020

Day 1568

I woke up at 8, turned over and went back to sleep until 9, and then played games until 10.  Then it was time for pet stuff, breakfast, and some surfing.  The dish washer was supposed to be delivered in the afternoon, so we went to the post office andHEB about noon.  We bought a whole lot of groceries.

We stopped at Tomlinson's so Lucy could get a treat.  Then it was Wells Fargo to cash a check, a whole $3.

When we got back I went out to shovel gravel.  I wanted to fill in some of the thin spots in the graveled areas.  I used 5 or 6 cart loads.  It was nice to get this "incomplete" done.

The dish washer came while I was working.  It's the first time any delivery came early.  Ellen took care of them.  The head guy was very nice, did good work, and was thorough.

When they were gone it was surfing and TV until it was time to take the dog to the mailbox.  Dinner was a HEB salad.

After dinner was TV and some games.  I'm competing with another guy for a prize.

Day 1567

I woke up at 8:30 and played games until 9:30.  Then it was pet stuff and breakfast.  We both surfed for awhile and then Ellen went to the Range.  I continued to surf until I felt guilty for not doing anything.  There wsn't much motivation because it rained all day.

I went out to the garage to finish up the trailer trim strip.  The color was OK.  It took a little time though to do the final fitting.  I used the hand sander to get things to fit well.  Then I clamped it in place.  I started the air compressor in the garage and used the time while it pumped up to clean up some and put away stuff in the trailer that I wouldn't need anymore.

When I went back to the garage the compressor only had 25 psi in it.  The motor sounded funny so I unplugged it and plugged in a different socket.  It wouldn't turn on at all.  The instructions said it had an overheat shutoff and to wait 20 minutes.  So I sat in the garage surfing for 20 minutes.  When I tried again the motor started, but the pressure didn't go up.  OK, trashed compressor.

I went into the house and looked at compressors.  ACE had one I liked.  Ellen came home and we left for ACE.  I bought the compressor there and took Lucy to Tomlinson's.  We stopped at Torchy's for lunch.

When I got home I unpacked and set up the new compressor.  I filled it up and took it to the trailer.  It only took a minute to nail the trim in place.  Ellen filled in the holes I made putting the vertical pieces in.  The final result looks pretty good.

All in all nailing the trim in took about 3 hours.  I put everything away and took the old compressor out to the garbage.  The good news is that the trailer work is done except for the cabinet doors.

The rest of the afternoon was surfing and games.  Dinner was a TV dinner.  After dinner was TV, games, and some surfing.

Day 1566

I stayed up last night until after 2 playing games.  I got up about 8 (9 DST), but I didn't feel sleepy.  I seem to be going on a little less sleep lately.  After pet stuff and breakfast I went out to the garage.  I got the trim Ellen painted and took it to the trailer.  I got Ellen and we both agreed it was too light.

While Ellen repainted the trim.  I cleaned her STI.  It had failed to feed a couple of times yesterday.  I also put together a little range bag for her.  Ellen helped some when she finished painting.  She's going to go shoot tomorrow with a women's organization she met up with at the Range yesterday.

After that I put the hand truck wheel and the bag of Goodwill stuff in the car.  We went to Harbor Freight for the wheel and dropped the bag next door at Goodwill.  I bought a new hand truck at Harbor Freight instead of wheels.  The new one has wheels with bearings.  The old one had plastic wheels.  It was lunch time, so we went to In-n-Out.  We stopped at the post office on the way home.

When we got home I took both the old and new hand trucks to the back storage building.  Then it was surfing, games, and TV for the rest of the afternoon.  Ellen fixed sausage and waffles for dinner.  After dinner was more surfing, games, and TV.

I'm hoping that the trim will match tomorrow.  If it does, I'll attach it and then truly be done until the cabinet doors show up.

Day 1565

I woke up about 7:30 and played games until a little after 8.  Then it was pet stuff and breakfast.  I put some shooting stuff in the car and did a little surfing.  Then we went to the Range.  They were having their birthday party.

The range had a whole bunch of things going on.  There were about 15 vendors, most shooting oriented.  They were also having half priced lanes.  We shot a little over 100 rounds through the STI's and the P320.  The STI's were much nicer.

When we were finished we looked around the vendors for awhile.  We didn't see anything we really liked.  When we left we stopped by the donut shop on Slaughter.  We hadn't been there since last year.  They are still really great donuts.  By then it was time for lunch, so we went to Pei Wei's.

We went to Central Market just to go.  We didn't buy much, because we didn't need anything. We stopped at Tomlinson's because we really needed to go to the bank.  They overloaded Lucy with treats.  Unfortunately we were 20 minutes late getting to the bank.  Oh well.  There's always Monday.

When we got home I didn't feel like doing anything.  So it was surfing and game playing until it was time to take the dog to the mailbox.

Dinner was quesadillas from Central Market and leftover mashed potatoes.  After dinner was TV and a little surfing.  Tonight is the DST switch.  I'll be getting up late tomorrow.

Day 1564

I woke up at 7 and played games until it was time to get up at 8:15.  Then it was pet stuff - no breakfast.  After that it was off to the physical therapist.  Traffic wasn't bad.

The session was interesting.  I started out with an arm exercising machine just to raise my heart rate.  Then she had me lay on a bench with a squishy ball under my head.  I turned my head both directions for awhile.  After that she massaged my neck and shoulders.  That was followed by her manipulating my jaw.  Some of that hurt.  The final two things were a shoulder blade exercise and opening and closing my mouth in front of a mirror.  The purpose was to make sure I wasn't moving my jaw off center.  It was all pretty interesting and the last two are homework, too.

After that I went over and got a haircut.  The lady did a good job.  Then we stopped at Best Buy.  We didn't have anything in mind, just killing time.  We looked at dishwashers because the current one has been refusing to start occasionally.  We found one we liked.

It was lunch time, so we went to the pizza place there.  Ellen had lasagna and I had spaghetti.  Ellen found a dishwasher at Home Depot she liked, so we went to see it.  They didn't have one in stock, so we went back to Best Buy and bought the one there.

The last stop was the post office.  We got home about two.  I set up the work table so Ellen could paint the new trim piece.  I installed the electronic baggage latch in the trailer.  It went pretty well.  Drilling out 4 pop rivets took some time.  I also had a little trouble programming the remotes, chiefly because I didn't RTFM correctly.

After that it was reading and some TV.  I took the dog to the mailbox - the first time in three days due to the weather.

Dinner was some froxen Chinese dinner thing.  After dinner was reading and TV.

Day 1563

I woke up at 7 and played games until about 8.  Then it was pet stuff and breakfast followed by a little surfing.  By 9 I was out at the trailer working on the fireplace.  I prepared the attachments for the wood pieces.  Then I reattached the partition that protects the wires.  That was kind of a pain in the ass because I had to work around the fireplace.

I started to attach the left wood support.I had lots of problems getting everything to line up.  I even had problems finding the right sized screws.  I finally got the piece attached.  I was so disgusted and tired that I decided to give it a rest for awhile.

I went into the apartment and installed the new radio shelf.  The radio wouldn't pick up any stations without an antenna.  I had to build and adapter from a screw to a push in connection.  That involved taking old stuff apart and soldering this Rube Goldberg solution together.  It worked though.  The radio sounds pretty good for what it is.

By then I had a success and I felt better.  I went back to the house, had lunch, and did a little surfing.  By then I was ready to attack the fireplace again.  I attached the fireplace to the left hand wood.  I started to set up the right side wood.  More problems.  The top trim hadn't been reamed out enough.  I was doing that (and making a big mess) when Malone's called to say the car was done.

I called a halt to the trailer work.  I got Ellen and we went to Dripping Springs.  We stopped at Home Depot for hole patching supplies (see below) on the way.  The cost of the tire was very reasonable.  They didn't charge me at all for the EGT probe investigation.  On the way back we stopped at this new outdoor bar/restaurant in Dripping Springs.  It's really nice.  It was only 4, but we had drinks and a really early dinner.

When we got home Ellen fed the pets.  I went out to the trailer.  I finished making a mess and then cleaned it up.  Then I attached the right hand wood and attached the fireplace to it.  The result looks pretty good except for a gap at the top caused by the way the fireplace is designed.  I went back to the garage and cut a piece.

Ellen ended up with two pieces of work.  She has to patch three drill holes that I drilled through the side boards (I'm an idiot).  She also has to paint the new trim piece.

The rest of the evening was surfing and game playing.  Ellen watched chick flicks.

Day 1562

We woke up about 7 and played games until the alarm went off at 7:30.  Then it was pet stuff and leave for Dripping Springs.  I had to fill up the Audi's tire before we could leave.  It had lost 15 psi over night.

It seemed we had to stop at every stop light until we got to Dripping Springs.  Then it was smooth sailing to Malone Diesel.  When I got there I asked if they fixed tires.  They said they did so I told them to fix the Audi's tire.  Unfortunately they came back to say it was a nail i the sidewall.  So I had them order a tire.  They thought it would be in in the afternoon.

They put the spare on the Audi, so we went to breakfast in Dripping Springs.  About the time we finished they called and said that the truck already has a pre-turbo EGT.  That's a first for GM.  So they didn't install the probe.  Instead we took the Audi back and took the truck.

We went to the post office because we didn't have anything else to do.  Then we went home.  I went out to the garage and finished painting the new kitchen shelf.  Then I started searching through the foot locker to find an antenna connection for the new kitchen radio.  That turned into a massive cleanup.  I took everything out of the locker.  I sorted out the duplicates, obsolete stuff, and the stuff I'll never use.  When I was done I'd put about half the contents in a big garbage bag for Goodwill.  I did find some things that should allow me to connect the antenna.

By then it was after 1.  I went in to have lunch.  I made a ham sandwich.  All three animals like ham, so I have to play referee when I hand out their tributes.  After that it was time to put the hitch in the truck.  Putting it in was actually pretty easy.  The worst part was squeezing through the half open truck door when the truck was backed all the way into the garage.

The bad part was the new hitch is at least 5 inches too high.  I'm going to see if I can raise the pin box, but that won't completely correct the problem.  I'll probably end up getting a Pullrite when it finally comes out.

I cleaned up the garage and put away everything.  That was the end of work for the day.  I surfed until a little before 5.  I called Malone Diesel.  They didn't get the tire.  They said they thought it would be in in the morning.  I hope so.

Dinner was a HEB salad.  After dinner was surfing and TV.

Day 1561

Devon woke us up at 4:30 this morning by knocking one of the new bowls onto the floor and shattering it.  After cleaning it up I couldn't go back to sleep.  So I played games until 7.  Then it was pet stuff and breakfast.

About 8:15 I called some medical lab that had sent me a nasty gram about some charges they said were overdue.  The fine print was they didn't have the insurance information.  I gave them the information (Medicare and Aetna).  They wanted the Aetna billing address.  I didn't have it.  Why would I?  It didn't help that the address Aetna prints on it's summaries is bogus.  Ellen got on the internet while I was talking and got them some info.  I felt it was their problem, not mine.

After that I went out to the apartment to install the new kitchen radio.  I took down the old one, but the shelf was too small for the new one.  I built a new shelf and started to paint it.  It will be a couple of days before the paint is finished.

I packed up the old stereo and put it in the car with the dishes and the old fireplace from the trailer.  Ellen was having asshole problems, so I took it to Goodwill alone.  The car said one of the tires was low.  It was.  I stopped at Firestone, but they had a 1.5 hour wait.  So I drove home and pumped up the tire.

A little later Ellen wanted to go to HEB.  We took the dog.  We bought a whole lot of groceries.  HEB had a couple of picked over places, but it wasn't like Costco.  The checker was using hand sanitizer between customers.  We stopped at Tomlinson's so Lucy could get a treat.

When we got home the trailer hitch base was here.  It had a "greater than 70 lbs" sticker on it.  I got the hand truck and hauled it to the truck.  The hand truck wheel broke just as I got to the truck.  I unboxed it and had Ellen steady it as I dragged it into the truck.  It was heavy.

The install of the base went pretty well.  It was just time consuming.  When it was done I backed the truck into the garage so I could remove the hitch.  I needed to complete its assembly and the bed of the truck was not the right place to do that.

I put the hitch on a work table.  That way the truck is ready to go to the shop tomorrow morning.  Ellen went to Dripping Springs about the time I got the hitch out.

Putting the hitch together was quite a bit of work.  All of the pieces were heavy and there were a lot of bolts to torque down.  Also, it was low 70's and 90+ humidity.  I was soaked with sweat when I finished about 6.  I still have to put it in the truck and do a little final assembly (nothing hard).  I'm a little concerned that the hitch might be a little too high.

I went back into the house.  I fed the pets, took a shower, and had dinner.  After dinner it was TV.  I was too tired and sore to surf.

Hooch sent me an email saying that his chemo hasn't been as effective as they hoped.  They are going to start stronger stuff soon.

Day 1560

We got up at 5:45.  After pet stuff we left for the GMC dealer.  I was surprised to find that the south end of loop 1 was slow at 6:20 in the morning.  It didn't delay us much though.  The rest of the trip was fine.  Traffic was heavy, but they were all pros.  For the most part we were going near 70 most of the time.

We got to the dealership about 6:50.  We stood around for awhile and then turned the truck over to them.  They did the oil change and fixed two recalls.  They also showed us that some of the problems we've had with customizing the truck was that we hadn't logged into it.  ???

They were done with the truck about 9.  We got back on the freeway and went a few miles to a place that sold Pilla shooting glasses.  We didn't even go in.  They're just and office.  Apparantly it's a "we'll order it for you" kind of place.

We were hungry, so Ellen found us a breakfast place.  It was really yuppie and a little expensive, but it was good.  While we were leaving an old lady in some sort of patriotic costume walked through the parking lot with a big Trump 2020 flag.

There was a Wally World a few doors down, so we went there looking for a light timer.  They didn't have one.

We got back in the truck and drove to Costco.  I wanted to get batteries and a part for my hearing aids.  The place was packed.  We went to the back for some water and it was sold out.  Apparently the idiots have panicked concerning the virus.  Morons.

We also stopped at Lowes for the timer.  I also got a piece of pine to use in the trailer if the oak doesn't work out.  The last stop was the post office - no mail.

When we got home Ellen got on the web and the user manual and figured out how to log into the truck.  She figured it out.  It won't do exactly what we want, but it's closer.  I went out and installed the timer along with the new light rope I got at an estate sale.  I through all of the old stuff away.  I also cut the pine so Ellen could paint it.

While she was painting I ordered an electronic lock for the trailer baggage compartment.  I also made an appointment for Wednesday to get the EGT probe installed in the truck.  The last part of the hitch is supposed to be delivered tomorrow.

I was surfing when Ellen said the radio I ordered for the apartment had been delivered.  When I got out there the dishes were there, too.  They were in two very heavy boxes.  I had to get the hand truck out of the back storage to get them to the house.  Then we spent the next half hour unpacking them.  I took all of the cardboard to the recycle bin.  I'm not sure there's enough room left to put in the bottles.

I took the dog to the mailbox. There was a past due bill from some medical place.  Apparently they don't have the right insurance info.  I'll call them tomorrow.

Dinner was frozen food.  It was good though.  The dishwasher went into it's "I don't want to work" mode again.  It took awhile, but I managed to get it to work again.  I smell a new one coming.

The rest of the evening was TV.  I went out and checked the new lights.  They look pretty good.  All in all it was a long and fairly busy day.

Day 1559

We got up about 8, did the pet stuff and had breakfast.  Then I loaded up the truck and we left for the club.  It was 9:30, so I took 183.  The traffic was light and I got to see the progress they'd made.  There was work being done on a couple of sections even though it was Sunday.  I wish they'd used the same company to do the work on loop 1.

It was a little crowded when we got to the club.  We rented a cart (we're rich) and drove around until we found an empty station.  I shot OK.  I'm not back to form, but there was noticeable improvement.  Ellen did pretty good, too.  At least for most of the stations.  We drove the toll road back home.

When we got home we had lunch.  Then I went out to the garage.  The paint on the trailer wood still sucks.  So Ellen sanded it all of and started over.  While she was doing that I installed the blind latches that I'd ordered.  They worked out pretty well.  I'm looking forward to not having to listen to them bang in the wind at night.

After that I installed the electronic door lock in the trailer.  That didn't go as smoothly.  I had to take apart the old lock in order to remove it.  Then I had to enlarge the hole in the door to install the new one.  That resulted in Styrofoam all over the entry way.  It was a pain to clean up.

After some adventures programming it the new lock seems to work pretty well.  We'll see.

I went back inside and surfed until dinner.  Ellen fixed pork chops and french fries.  After dinner was TV and some surfing.
