Day 1000

We kind of screwed up today.  We didn't get up until 9:20.  We should have been on the road before then.  We did the pet stuff, had breakfast, and left for Mom's.  We got there about 10:45.

Hooch was just getting started.  I helped him move the moving supplies in.  We decided to start on the second bathroom and the second bedroom.  Everything went into classes - pitch it, Goodwill, give to Hooch, give to Tony, give to me, and take to Touchmark.

At lunch I went to QVC to pick up a lunch.  Three sandwiches, a bag of chips, four blueberry muffins, two bottles of beer and a bottle of ice tea was $40.  I could have gone to a restaurant.

We worked until 7.  I ended up taking a truckload of stuff to Goodwill.  Hooch took a cart and a half to his house.  We almost filled up the rack in the second bathroom with stuff for Touchmark.  After all of that we cleaned out the second bathroom, the second bedroom's closet, and most of the furniture in the second bedroom.

We left Laurel park after 7:30 and stopped at Burgerville for dinner.  We were home by 8:30.  The rest of the evening was surfing and TV.

Day 999

We got up at 8 today - Ellen had a lesson at 9.  After pet stuff and breakfast she went to the lesson and I surfed for a little while.

I wanted to accomplish something, so I went out and loaded 28 ga.  I did both AA and Remington, 150 in all.  I tried to put the license plate frames on the Audi, but the screws were too short.  They're metric, so I had to go buy some.

I ate lunch first, and then went to Woodburn.  While I was at the hardware store I also bought sting for the trimmer I bought Friday and some staples for the stapler Ellen uses at shoots.  When I got back I put on the license plates, put string in the weedeater, and dumped the black tank.

By then it was getting hot - mid 90's.  So I went inside, did a little surfing, and watched tV with Devon in my lap.  Of course we both fell asleep.

Dinner was leftover stir fry.  After dinner Ellen clogged the kitchen sink.  I cleaned out the grate below the screen and poured a bucket of water down the drain.  That seemed to fix it.  While I was outside I also reinstalled the key latch on the front compartment on the small trailer.  I put it in backwards when I first did it and I was sick of having to remember how it turned.  Now it works the right way.

After dinner I finally got Fletcher and Devon to sleep on my lap at the same time.  That's a first.  Ellen got a picture.  Then I had to fix the water pump fuse.  It blew for the first time since we got here.

The rest of the evening was TV and surfing.

Day 998

We were up at 7 today.  We did the pet stuff, had breakfast, and were on the road before 8.  I was worried that closing I5 at I84 would back things up, but it didn't.  We  made good time because everyone was exceeding the speed limit on I5.  I totally ignored the limit on the 60 miles of secondary highway we drove on when we left the freeway.  Frequently I was doing 70 in a 55.

We got to the resort about 10:30.  It was actually a RV park.  I wish Ellen had told me, we could have driven the trailer up and stayed with them.  Cliff and Ona, Chuck and Cheryl, and Diane were there.  So were some others I ddin't know.  We had a great time talking to them.

The park is next to the Cowlitz river.  We took Lucy down there and she had a great time swimming.  Her swimming entertained everyone else. When we got back there was more talk and someone made lunch.  After that it was more talk followed by someone making dinner.  It was a fun time.

We left about 8.  Again I really exceeded the speed limit getting back to I5.  I wanted to get there before it got dark.  We made it.

The trip down I5 was speedy until we got to milepost 26.  The assholes were doing construction and had it going from 3 lanes to 1.  It took 35 minutes to get through the 1.5 mile traffic jam.  I had gotten in the left lane, the one that was open.  Big mistake.  I should have got in the right lane.  Every one there was driving to the merge and assholes in the other lanes were letting them in.  I could have been through in half the time easy.

We didn't get home until almost 11:30.  We fed the animals, watered the cat, and went to bed.

Day 997

We got up about 8, did pet stuff and had breakfast followed by surfing.  About 9:30 we left to go to an estate sale.

The sale was one of the most successful we've went to in a long time.  It was only a few miles away, in north Salem.  There was lots of stuff at good prices.  I got a weed eater for $12 and we got a set of really good silverware for the small trailer for $30.  I picked up a couple of hammers for $3 apiece and a Lego model for $2.  I haven't checked yet, but it may be complete.

On the way back we stopped at a farm store that we'd never been to before.  It's a good one.  More stuff then Bauman's and better prices.  We picked up the makings of a stir fry dinner.  We also stopped at another "estate sale" which turned out to be a barn packed with a picker's over priced junk.

On the way home we stopped at Roth's to get the rest of the stir fry stuff.

When we got home we had lunch and then went to the club.  Its was hot and the place was  completely dead.  Dave, Tucker, and the website guy were surfing the net together looking for funny stuff.  We stayed for a little while and then went back to the trailer to surf.

I did a little TV watching and a little napping.  Ellen fixed the stir fry for dinner.  After dinner we went to a movie with the Heitlauf's.  It was one of those comic based ones about a guy that can shrink himself to the size of an ant.  It was entertaining.

When we got home we surfed for awhile and then went to bed.  We need to get up early tomorrow.

Day 996

We got up a little late - after 8.  We did the pet stuff and had breakfast.  After a little surfing it was time to drive to the vet.  Traffic was OK, and we got there right on time.  Lucy got a shot.  Devon got a shot and a checkup.  His eye is still red, but the vet isn't worried.  He might have been small when we got him, but he's now near the top of the size range for his age.

After the vet we went to Audi to buy license plate frames.  We also bought an insulated trunk organizer for Texas.  Then we went to lunch.  After that we went to Hooch's.

Devon was a big hit there.  I think either Martha or one of the kids held him or played with him the  whole time we were there.  Martha fixed a nice dinner.  Hooch and I reviewed his responses to Touchmark's forms and made plans for moving Mom next week.  I'm not looking forward to that.

I called Joe again.  He'll find out if he can read Polaris codes and will call me tomorrow.

We left Hooch's about 8:30.  When we got home it was TV and surfing.

Wednesday, July 25, 2018

Day 995

We got up at 7:45 today.  There was no real reason to get up that early, we just did.  After pet stuff and breakfast we went out to shoot before it got too hot.  That was a pain in the ass.

First, the course had a bunch of empty machines and ones that weren't working.  Second, I wasn't shooting the 28 ga very well.  Third, the stock on Ellen's gun broke.  Fourth, the check engine light went on on the Polaris while we were on the course.

I hauled the Polaris back with the truck.  Then I called Joe.  He hasn't called back.  We ate lunch and then drove to downtown Salem so Ellen could get her hair cut.  I went to a bar while she did and had a couple of drinks (on sale) and some coconut shrimp.   We stopped at Costco on the way home and I made an appointment for a hearing test.

It was in the 90's when we got home.  Ellen went to the club to finish up the shoot.  I surfed.

Dinner was bacon hamburgers.  After dinner was TV.

Tuesday, July 24, 2018

Day 994

We got up at 7, did the pet stuff, had breakfast, and left to do the wash.  We were finished with the wash about 9.  I had to call Mom 3 or 4 times, but she finally answered when we were halfway there.
Ellen's asshole was giving her grief.  We had to stop at Donald on the way up.

After going through the mail and talking with her for awhile we went to the Pirate's Park.  It was hot and we let her rest when we got to the park.  She did well.

Ellen's asshole was still gibing her trouble and we had to stop at the Albertson's at 185th and West Union.  There was an Italian place there with outdoor seating, so we decided to eat there.  It was good, we'll be back.  I asked Mom if she wanted ice cream at the store next door and she said yes, so that was our next stop.

After that it was time to go home.  Traffic was heavy, but always moving when we went home.  I was surprised because it was after 2.

It was 95 when we got home.  We spent the rest of the afternoon watching TV (and a little napping).  Dinner was a sandwich because lunch was so filling.

After dinner was more TV.

Monday, July 23, 2018

Day 993

We got up at 8 and did the pet stuff and had breakfast.  Today was a relaxation day, so it started ouit with some surfing.

About 9 I realized that if I wanted to do work outside, it should be done now.  I went out to the small trailer and replaced the propane sensor.  That took more work that I thought it would.  I has to take out a kitchen door, cut the wires for the old sensor, and solder the new sensor on.  I blew a fuse when doing the soldering because I hadn't turned the battery off.  I took me awhile to find the shutoff and a replacement fuse.

When that was done I took the batteries that came in last week and put them in the laser on the AR.  Now all I need is a QD connect for the stock.  I looked in the truck bed for a bumper sticker for Debbe.  I found lone she might like.  I also discovered that part of the bed cover was broken, so I fixed that.  Finally I fixed a really annoying rattle in the Polaris.  It was one of the speakers bouncing against the cab.

It was about 11 when that was done.  We took Lucy to the Willamette to let her swim.  She had a great time.  She's not as tired tonight as I thought she would be.  We stopped at Jone's Farm on the way home.  We had lunch when we got back.

After lunch it was a little surfing.  Then we went to Safeway for some groceries.  Ellen went to the club to finish up some registration stuff when we got back.  For some reason I felt like a drink, so I fixed a whiskey and Coke.  I fell asleep before I finished it.

Dinner was Ramen.  Ellen's asshole is giving her trouble.  After dinner was surfing and TV.

Day 992

It was up at 6 again followed by pet stuff and breakfast.  Then it was off to the club.

I checked the three stations I set yesterday.  Dave changed one to report.  I would have done that myself due to a wind change.  He changed out one of the machines on another because I'd used a machine on a platform.   I thought he might do that.  The third one he changed a lot.  I was a little bummed about that.

There really wasn't much for me to do today.  I watched Ellen shoot FITASC in the morning.  I drove around a few times, and went out to fix a machine (someone beat me to it).  I did reload the man lift after each rotation.  I checked some score cards occasionally.

I shot FITASC at 2.  It was fun because the squad knew what it was doing and moved quickly.  It wasn't fun because it was in the 90's and there was no water.  My goal was to shoot 50, I shot 51.  That put me 9 birds off AA1, which isn't bad for the first time I shot it.

Of course the work started when the shooting stopped.  I brought the man lift in and removed the pain in the ass banner.  Then I got a kid to help me unload it.  Then I helped Dave Martin collect his machines.  He had most of them collected by the time I got to him.  I got two of the kids to take down the machine on the man lift and clean out the broken birds.

We had to wait until after the shoot offs to get the last two of Dave's machines.  I spent the time talking to Gerry's wife and kid.  When that was finished I went back to the trailer to feed the animals and take a shower.

We went out to dinner with the Heitlauf's.  We went to Hop Jacks.  It was good food and we had fun talking.

When we got home it was TV, a little surfing, and in bed early.  I was really tired, too tired to do the daily writeup until the next day.

Day 991

We were up before 6, did the pet stuff and had breakfast.  Ellen went to the clubhouse and I went to station 15.  I loaded the two machines and raised the tower and man lift.  I cleared the station with Dave.  Then Dave asked me to set up a station for tomorrow at the platform b the freeway.

I unloaded two machines from one of the unused 5-stands and hauled them to the station.  I set up low straightaway shots because that's the only thing that can  be thrown there.  I left the springs tight to make it harder.  I told Dave he could just lighten the springs to make it easier (later he did).

At that point I didn't have much to do.  There were plenty of people to watch the course and everything was running smoothly.  I spent some time riding around the course and the rest of the time surfing in the clubhouse.  Ellen and I managed to eat lunch together.  Then it was more of the same until the end of the second rotation.

When it ended I took down the towers and loaded them. Then it was more boring time until the end of the shooting.  I reset the fixed tower and moved the man lift to the farmer's road behind station 2.  Then I walked back to the tower and tracked down Dave Martin.  He had managed to reset up to station 9.

I told Dave I'd go set station 13 while he worked on 9 and 10.  11 and 14 were already done, so we worked together on 12.  After that we were finished resetting the course.  We went back to two and fine tuned the man lift set up.  Then I took Lucy home and fed the animals.

When Lucy was done eating she really wanted to go outside, so I let her.  I stayed until Devon was finished eating.  When I went outside to go back to the club Lucy wasn't there.  She had run back to the club to beg from the shooters eating diner.  I tied her up when I got back.

We had dinner there and Ellen got another award.  After that we went back to the trailer.  The rest of the evening was TV and surfing.

Day 990

Got up at 6:30 today, did the pet stuff and had breakfast.  Then it was go to the club.  I waited around for awhile and then went to pull 5-stand.  I had a "problem" trapper from yesterday with me.  He did fine.  We were there until 5.

It was pretty cold - 50's and windy in the morning.  In the afternoon it warmed up into the 70's.  The whole experience was pretty boring.  I was glad when it was over.

Dave came by while we were trapping and asked me to set a couple of the traps for FITASC tomorrow.  So when we were finished I cleaned everything up and set them.  By then it was 5:45 and I went to the club to get Lucy to feed her.  On the way back Dave was working on the field, so I stopped and helped.  He said he liked the way I set the targets and didn't change them.

After that I went to the trailer and fed the pets.  Then I took Lucy with me and we went out to help reset the course.  There were two other guys helping Dave, but I made myself useful and got in some suggestions.

We broke for dinner about7:30.  They bought me spicy chicken from the sushi place.  After dinner I went out and repositioned the man lift.  Then I called it quits.

I went home and took a shower.  Then I filled the water tank.  I also charged the Polaris' battery.  After that it was a short surfing session and bed.

Day 989

Ellen got up at 5:30 today.  I tried to get back to sleep, but couldn't.  Instead I dosed for about an hour and then got up.  I had breakfast and then went to the club.  It was cloudy, cool, and a little windy, so I wore long pants.

I was going to check the tower target I set yesterday, but they already had it set up.  I just waited around until time to shoot 20 ga at 8.  At the last minute they had me take out a couple of trappers to stations 8 and 9.  I started at 1, so that made me a little late.  It all worked out though.
I shot pretty poorly.  On the last station I missed 3 birds that I never should have missed.  It turned out OK though.  I shot a 39 and there was a 3 way tie for AA 1 at 40.  No punches.

After shooting I put the gun away and started finding things to do.  I counted scores and spelled a trapper for a bathroom break.  In between little chores I surfed.  I also got Ellen lunch at the roach coach.

I shot the 28 ga at 2.  I shot the first 3 stations OK, not great.  On the fourth station I started seeing double and missed three birds.  That made me pissed, and I ran the rest.  That turned out to be a mistake.  I got one or two punches from that.

When I was done I put away the gun and really got to work.  I reset the tower under Dave (from Quail Point) instructions.  Then i worked with him on the other 3 5-stands.  I didn't set any targets, but I suggested a couple of menus and did all the grunt work about getting buckets, doing menu boards, and the like.

Dave wanted menu sheets typed up for the trappers.  I stopped in at the club and asked Tucker to do it because he was doing nothing.  Big mistake.  He didn't do a damn thing even though he was doing nothing else for hours.  I ended up having to do it on a computer at the trailer.

That process was a cluster fuck.  Of my three computers only one has Notepad.  I had to get the all-in-one out.  It wouldn't do anything until it did a long update.  Then I did manage to do what I needed.  Once I had the menus, I took them out.  End of work.

My laptop, which I'm using now, quit connecting to the internet yesterday.  I tried to fix it, but since all help is through the internet I didn't make much progress.  I gave up until Ellen got home.  She got on the net and found a couple of things that fixed it.  Basically the "airplane mode" switch is disabled when it's turned on.  You have to press a special function key, which isn't labeled, to turn it back off.  Second, the wi-fi power management doesn't work correctly.  Apparently it turns off if the battery gets low and won't turn back on when the battery is recharged.  Fucking Microsoft.

By the time everything was fixed it was 10.  After a very little TV and surfing it was bed time.

Wednesday, July 18, 2018

Day 988

We got up at 7, did the pet stuff, and had breakfast.  Then waited a little while until Dave went to the club.  When he did we followed him because Ellen had work to do.  I hung around until Tucker showed up.  Then we went out to the tower and developed a plan.  I went to Coastal while he went to Lowe's.  While I was in Woodburn I stopped and got money and also got some water.  $10 of water cost me $7.20 in deposit.

When I got back Tucker was dicking around.  It's something he did for most of the day.  I figure he made an hour of work last all day.  I went to Hubbard with a trailer and picked up a Kubota a dealer gave the club for the weekend.  When I got back Yo called.  Tony is acting normal for him, but complalining about the drugs.  I gave Yo a pep talk.

After that I went outside and saw Tucker was driving the man lift to the station.  Apparently the tower upgrade effort has been abandoned.  I went with him.

Apparently setting targets is not something Tucker likes doing.  He got someone to help lift the trap onto the manlift and then gave the job of setting the target to me.  It would have been easy, except there were no charged batteries.  I spent at least an hour fetching different batteries from the club and lifting them up on the lift.  They were all dead, but some had enough life to cycle the machine a few ties.  That allowed me to set the target.

After the target was set I loaded the machine.  Then I hung a big ungainly fabric sign on the side of the lift.  That was a real pain in the ass.  I got done about 6.  Dave said they were finished, so I went back to the trailer and fed the pets.  I drank 3 bottles of water as soon as I got home and then took a shower.  Dinner was leftover sausage and cereal.

After dinner I looked up 2019 GMC pickups.  They are going to be really cool.  I WANT ONE.  Ellen stayed at the club until 9.  I watched TV for awhile and then went to bed.

Day 987

It was up today at 7 to do pet stuff, breakfast, and leave to do the laundry.  We were done with the laundry by 9.  I called Touchmark to insure the meeting was still on.  I also called Laurel Parc to make sure Mom was ready.  Both times the answer was good.

W were making good time to Portland until we hit a traffic jam just before the rest area.  Apparently someone had fucked up on the bridge.  We crawled along until the Canby exit.  I got off there and then got back on.  That allowed me to pass half a mile of cars and get near to the end of the jam.  We still ended up being short of time.

We stopped at Hooch's place and then went to Laurel Parc.  We got there about 10:15.  Mom was pretty much ready.  The Touchmark person showed up about 10:40.  She interviewed Mom about her likes and dislikes.  She also gave Mom a short cognitive test.  I'm not sure I would have gotten everything right.  Mom sure didn't.  After she left we took Mom to lunch across the street.

Mom had broken a finger nail and needed diapers, so I went over to Walgreen's while we waited and bought nail clippers and diapers.  Ellen fixed the nail while we waited.  After lunch we took Mom back because I wanted to go down to the club to work.

We were on the road by 1:15.  217 was fucked up from Canyon road past Denney and again at I5.  I5 was fucked up to past 205.  So we decided to go the back way.  Big mistake.  I picked the wrong way through Beaverton.  Ellen picked a new shortcut through Sherwood which took much longer than the normal one.  Then there was construction on Tonquin that had us waiting for 15 minutes.  All in all it took an hour and a half to get home.

I shouldn't have bothered to hurry.  Dave had nothing for me to do, and told me to go help Tucker.  Tucker didn't want any help.  I dicked around a little and then helped Dave from Quail Point unload his trailer.  After that I just sat around until Ellen was finished.  Dave had dinner set up for their crew.  We went home and I didn't bother to go back after we ate (pancakes and sausage).

Later I went for a walk.  After dinner they had set up some stands and moved machines.  I could have helped, put I guess I'm not needed.  I'll go over there tomorrow, but I suspect I won't do anything.

The rest of the evening was surfing and TV.

Day 986

We got up about 8 today, did the pet stuff and had breakfast.  I didn't have anything in mind today except taking Lucy swimming.  Ellen spent the whole day at the club doing stuff for the state.  That meant no swimming for Lucy.

After surfing for awhile I got bored.  So I decided to install this electronic level indicator on the small trailer .  It's mounted on the side of the trailer and allows both front/back and side to side leveling.  I also investigated the alarm in the trailer.  I thought it was a bad smoke alarm battery.  Instead it was the propane alarm announcing it was at the end of its life.  I also packed some of the stuff we've been buying for Texas away for traveling.  I just wanted to get it out of the way.

When I was finished with that I went back inside.  I ordered a new propane alarm on Amazon.  That got me involved with Prime Day.  I looked at a lot of stuff, but only bought a new razor that was $70 off.  Then I went to the club to check on Ellen.  She was still working, so I sat there and surfed.

Ellen quit about 3.  On the way back we got into a several hour conversation with the Heitlauf's.  We just talked about a lot of stuff.

We got back for dinner at 6 - TV dinner.  After dinner I went for a walk followed by TV and reading.

Sunday, July 15, 2018

Day 985

We got up at 8:15, did the pet stuff, and had breakfast.  Then it was a little surfing before we loaded up the guns and went to the club.

We talked and waited until it was time to shoot.  We were squaded with the Heitlauf's and another guy.  The weather was warm - 90 by the time we were finished.

I shot badly for most of the course.  That's because I'd been shooting two guns that shot high this week.  My SC3 doesn't, and I was shooting under everything.  It took until the last three stations for me to adapt.  The guy that we were shooting with shot a 98.  The course was good, but a little soft.

We ate lunch at the roach coach to make sure they had enough business.  Then we surfed the afternoon away because it was so hot.  Ellen was supposed to have a lesson at 3, but they cancelled.  It was the same person that cancelled before.  I told her to bag them.

Dinner was left over Chinese food.  I took a walk at 7:30.  It was in the 80's, but comfortable.  Lucy kept going out in the field to eat dead mice, so I made he heel until we got to the end of the back road.

After dinner was more TV and reading.

Saturday, July 14, 2018

Day 984

We got up at 8:15.  We did the pet stuff and had breakfast.  Then I filled the fresh water tank.  We planned on surfing until 10 when Ellen had a lesson.  Just before 10 the student called and cancelled.

That left us free.  I needed to get some drugs, so we went to Target.  We left the dog at home because it was going to be hot.  We stopped at the pet store also to buy Lucy a rice bone as a consolation.  We also got some kitten food.

The next stop was the Marion County Fair at the fairgrounds.  We spent a couple of hours looking at animals and exhibits.  It beat sitting in the trailer at the club.  Then it was a stop at Roth's for much needed groceries.  After that it was the post office and home.

We at a really late lunch and then watched TV until it was time to go to dinner with the Heitlof's.  We went to the Chinese place and it was a lot of fun.

When we got home it was more TV and a little surfing.

Friday, July 13, 2018

Day 983

We got up about 8 today.  After pet stuff and breakfast I dumped the black tank.  Last night when we went to bed Ellen pulled the top of her window frame off the window.  It's only held on by some double sided tape.  I put it back on as well as I could, but it will never work right again.

After that we got out our stuff and went to shoot the new 5-stand.  I took the 20 ga and shot a lot better than yesterday.  Gerry showed up about 11.  I switched to the robo-gun and we shot the course.  We had fun, but I was tired by the time we were finished.

When we got back to the club I asked Dave if the knife I'd ordered had ever come in.  He'd forgotten to look.  I turned out that it had.  I really like it.

It was getting hot after lunch, so we went inside and watched TV.  I played with Devon on my lap.  He's a lot of fun.  Before dinner I went out and reloaded the 20 ga that I shot today.  Then Lucy and I went for a walk.

Ellen fixed BLT's for dinner.  After dinner it was playing with the cat and watching TV.

Thursday, July 12, 2018

Day 982

We woke up at 5:30 today.  We turned over and went back to sleep until about 9.  Then it was pet stuff and breakfast.  It was hot today, the eventual high was 100.  It was old guys day, so we didn't want to shoot in the morning.  So we surfed the whole morning away instead.

We didn't eat lunch because we were going to eat at 2 with Gerry and Travis.  We left at 1 and got up there just in time.  Their new place is really nice.  We had lunch next door at a nice lunch spot.

Gerry suggested a charitable remainder trust as a way to reduce the taxes involved in getting out of Intel.  It sounds interesting, but we'll have to run it by Bob.  I also signed the papers to get out of the Athena annuity.  It cost about $20K to do it.  That really pisses me off.

Traffic on the way home really sucked.  It was stop in go from the time we got on at Lake Oswego until we got off at Stafford.  It was even slow on the exit only lane.  We took the frontage road to the Freddie's gas station and filled up.  It was slow getting back on I5 and then until we were over the bridge.

It was really hot when we got home, so we stayed in the trailer and surfed.  I did some reading also.  Dinner was frozen food.  After dinner was TV and reading.

Wednesday, July 11, 2018

Day 981

We got up a little before 8 today, did the pet stuff and had breakfast.  There wasn't really anything to do, so we surfed after breakfast.  I did a couple of small chores.

About 11 we went to get the mail.  We also stopped at the hardware store in Woodburn for a hook and Bauman's just to look.  The final stop was the dollar store for milk.  When we got home we had lunch.

After lunch we went shooting.  The battery on the polaris was dead again, so I put it on a charger and we walked the course.  I shot my 20 ga.  I didn't do very well until I realized that I was shooting over everything.  Ellen did pretty well.

When we were finished we went back and watched TV until dinner.   Ellen fixed pork chops.  After that we went to the Heitlof's to watch a movie.  It was a really funny mystery kind of movie.

When we got home we watched TV.  We also watched Devon play with Fletcher.  Fletcher really seems to like it,but he doesn't like Devon to bug him when he's trying to sleep on my lap.

Day 980

We got up at 7, did pet stuff, had breakfast, and left to wash the clothes.  We were done with the clothes a little after 9.

I called Mom at 9.  It took two calls, but she answered the phone.  She sounded pretty good.  It surprised us when we got there at 9:45 and she wasn't dressed.  The aide was there and helped her a little.  Ellen did the rest.  I made sure the aide knew that she needed to be ready for a 10:30 appointment next Tuesday.

We went over to Sierra Trading Post.  I bought a pair of Keen shoes for cheap.  We also bought cat toys for both cats and some fishing things for Dan.  Then we went to lunch at Chicago Pizza.  I would have gone somewhere else, but they were close.  After that we went for cupcakes.  We had a coupon for a free one.

We dropped Mom off about 2 and headed home.  I5 was a little slow through Lake Oswego, but otherwise things were pretty good.

I wanted to shoot when we got home, but Ellen's asshole was acting up again.  So I ended up surfing.  Devon and Fletcher are really getting together well.  The only problem is that Devon keeps chewing on Fletcher unless the two are sleeping together.

Dinner was left over pizza and BLT.  Then it was reading.  I also packed away some stuff we bought for Texas.  Then we watched a movie.

Day 979

We woke up at 7:30, turned over and went back to sleep until almost 9.  Then we got up and did the pet stuff and had breakfast.  We left for Salem after breakfast.

The first stop was SportClips for a haircut.  Then we bought some caramel corn from the place next door for the next movie night.  It was cold and cloud today, so we also got some $5 coffee.  The next stop was Freddies for groceries.  We got the makings for several dinners.  After that we went to the pet store for some dog food.  We also got another cat to.  Lucy enjoyed the stop.  The last stop was Wally World for asswipe.

We had lunch when we got home.  I was planning on going shooting, but Ellen's asshole was giving her problems.  So I surfed until going for a walk before dinner.  Dinner was BLT's.  After dinner was more surfing.

I got a call from a guy in Baker City who is going to do the body work on the Bronco - $4K.  It will be more to do the interior and engine work.  I love Social Security.

Day 978

We woke up at 8 today, but stayed in bed for awhile surfing.  then it was get up and do the pet stuff and breakfast.  Then I filled the water tank.  After a little more surfing we took Lucy to the river to swim.

There were lots of people at the river.  Some were using jet skis and some were camping.  The ferry was really busy.  The dog had a great time.  I didn't count, but she did at least 20 retrieves.  After that we went home and had lunch.

After lunch and some surfing we went to the club.  I sat outside and surfed.  There were a lot of people there, but nobody I knew.  Ellen was working with Vandy on the state shoot.  I finally went back to the trailer to watch TV and play with the kitten.  He's warming up to me.

Eventually Ellen came back.  We had leftover tacos for dinner.  After dinner was TV and reading.  I read an article on the new GMC pickups.  I want one.

Day 977

We got up at 8 today, had breakfast and did the pet stuff.  We surfed for a little while and went to the club a little after 9.  They were having the Oregon Hunters Kid's shoot and we had signed up.

Ellen and I ended up with 6 kids.  We were supposed to have 3 more, but they didn't show.  We did end up with another coach joining us with his squad.  All the kids hit targets and seemed to be having a lot of fun.  I think one kid would like to join the club's shooting team.

After lunch we went back to the trailer.  We surfed for a little while and then went to the post office.  We also stopped at the Dollar Store so I could get another plastic bin.  When we got home I went to the shed and transferred some stuff from old boxes to the bin.

One of the boxes had DVD's in it.  I ended up entering the titles to those and the ones in the trailer into my phone.  That way we won't be buying duplicates.  There were a lot of titles - it took awhile.

Ellen fixed tacos for dinner.  My tooth is still hurting, so eating is no fun.  After dinner I tried to watch a DVD.  Unfortunately I couldn't get the sound to work.  The receiver needs reprogramming, but we don't have the manual.

After that I took a walk.  Then I spent the rest of the evening surfing.

Day 976

We got up at 8 this morning, did the pet stuff and had breakfast.  Then we drove up to the Bed, Bath, and Beyond in Tigard.  We wanted to buy a replacement toaster oven for Texas.  Now that sales tax is collected on internet purchases we wanted to get it up here.  We also stopped at the 511 store.  We bought pants for me and a neat shirt for Ellen.  The last stop was Best Buy.  We just looked around there.

When we got home we had lunch.  Then we surfed until 3:30 when Ellen had a lesson.  I went to the club, too.  I ended up talking with some people for most of the time she was giving the lesson.

After the lesson Ellen got into a big conversation with Vandy.  I was hungry, so I went home and fixed a TV dinner for dinner.  I woke up today with a tooth ache that makes it hard to chew.  I hope it will be better tomorrow.

After dinner it was TV and reading.  I put Devon on my lap.  A little later Fletcher jumped up there, too.  They both ended up sleeping on my lap.  That's a first.  It ended when Devon woke up and started playing with Fletcher's tail.  Fletcher kept flicking it at Devon and hissing when Devon grabbed it.  Eventually Fletcher left.  Hopefully this will improve later.

Day 975

We got up about 9, did pet stuff and had breakfast.  After a little surfing we left to go to the St. Paul rodeo.  We got there a little after they opened at 11:00.  The rodeo was "open", but in name only.  All of the booths were closed up.  There were just a few people walking around.  Nothing was going on in the arena.  We walked around for a little while and then left.

We didn't want to go home, so we drove to McMinnville for the farmer's market.  It was about the same as always.  We bought some blueberries.  The strawberry season is over.  Then we went to the bakery for lunch.  I ordered the brisket sandwich - it was so-so.

After lunch we walked around the downtown.  We didn't go into any stores even though we didn't have the dog.  We just didn't see anything interesting.  We went back home after the walk.

When we got home we went over to the club.  It was pretty deserted.  I just sat and surfed for a couple of hours.  Then it was back to the trailer for dinner.  Ellen fixed chicken and rice.

After dinner it was reading, TV, and a walk.

Day 974

We didn't get up until 9.  I just didn't feel like getting up.  Then it was pet stuff and breakfast.  After a little surfing we went to BiMart.  They were having a great sale on .223 and 9mm.  Of course they were sold out.  Oh well.

We stopped at Safeway to get some stuff for dinner.  Then we went to lunch at Arby's.  I love their orange shakes.

When we got home we got out the guns (I used the 20 ga).  We shot at the new 5-stand.  We used the hoops, not the stand.  There was a stiff wind from the south, so the targets were being blown out.  I was using Hal's reloads - 8.5's and not crimped well.  That wasn't the optimum thing for the long shots.

Craig and a friend drove by while we were shooting, and joined us.  They were challenging targets and we all had fun.

When we were done I went to the shed and started reloading the shells I shot.  I did well for the first 40, then I really screwed up and made a mess.  I cleaned up the mess and then had to eat dinner before movie night.  Ellen fixed fish we bought at Safeway.

Movie night was fun.  We had Ellen's marshmallow things, candy, and popcorn.  I had a beer.  The movie was Jumanji, and it was really good.

After the movie we went home.  I went out and finished the reloading.  There were no more major screwups.

The rest of the evening was surfing and listening to all the the fireworks.

Day 973

We  got up at 7 (via alarm).  After pet stuff and breakfast we left to do the laundry.

I called Mom at 9, but she didn't answer.  I tried again about every 10 minutes until we got up to 26 after 10.  She never answered, but an assistant did.  I told her to tell Mom to be ready in about half an hour.

We stopped at Hooch's place.  I did the pond and then removed a spider web from one of their cameras.  We also stopped at a consignment place to pick up stuff that didn't sell.

We were under time pressure because we needed to be at the window tinting place at 1.  We couldn't find her hearing aids, so we left without them.  It was interesting.  When we got there Mom was complaining about hurting.  Ellen suggested eating there, and suddenly Mom felt better.  She is loosing it mentally.  She couldn't recognize her tube of toothpaste even after I told her twice.

We left a little after 10:30.  All we had time for was lunch.  We got Mom back at 12:45 and made it to the tinting place with about 5 minutes to spare.  That was after taking a few more minutes to look for the hearing aids.

The tinting place was wonderful.  They did a great job in the time they said it would take.  We used most of the time to walk over to Safeway.  I bought some bananas.  Then we stopped by a pet store and bought Devon a toy and Lucy a treat.  The last stop was killing time at Jamba Juice.

We were ready to leave the tinting place about 2:30.  217 was a parking lot from Walker road south.  I5 was a parking lot from 217 to Wilsonville.  So we took Murray and cut across to 160th.  Then over to 170th, over the hill and down to Sherwood.  It was a parking lot a few blocks from 99, so we cut over and drove through Sherwood to Oregon street.  After that it was relatively clear sailing until we got on I5 at Wilsonville.  Traffic was still slow until we crossed the bridge.  All in all it took a little over an hour to get to Woodburn.  Not bad, considering.

When we got home we surfed for awhile and then went to the club.  We talked to the Heitlof's for awhile and then had dinner with them, Dave, and Vandy's parents.  Apparently Vandy is getting sicker.  After dinner we went back home and watched TV and read.

Day 972

Got up at 8 today for pet stuff and breakfast.  The first order of business was filling up the fresh water tank.  After some surfing we went to Target so I could fill my prescription at CVS.  They were really fast.  It was done before we finished shopping.

After Target we stopped at the pet store to get a cat toy for Fletcher.  They didn't have one (a ribbon wand), but Lucy got a rice bone.  Then I drover over to River Road and filled up the car.  I wanted it to be full for the July 4th holiday.

We drove up River Road to Jones and bought some strawberries.  Then we went up to St. Louis Ponds and over to the post office.  The metric screws I ordered were there.

When we got home I put the screws that came into the handguard.  They look good.  You have to look closely to see that I elongated the holes.

After lunch we surfed for awhile.  Then we went out to shoot.  We shot at least a dozen boxes.  It was fun, but it's getting a little boring.  Dave hasn't changed the targets in two weeks.

Dinner was a TV diner and leftover sausage.  It was actually pretty good.  Then it was watching the world cup.  Unfortunately Japan lost.

Devon really wants to get friendly with Fletcher.  Unfortunately Fletcher doesn't want anything to do with him.  Fletcher makes it a point to hang around me all evening so I won't get involved with Devon.

The rest of the evening was surfing.

Day 971

We woke up about 7, but stayed in bed to surf for an hour.  Then we got up to do pet stuff and have breakfast.  After breakfast it was a little surfing before I went outside to caulk the big trailer's roof.

It wasn't as hard a job as I thought it would be.  The bad part is that I ran out of caulk.  So I got down off the roof and we  took the dog to the river for a swim.  It was also time to drive the truck.

Lucy had a great time at the river.  I let her do 25 retrieves.  Then I called a stop.  She would have done more.  We needed to go to Woodburn, so we took River Road north.  We stopped at French Prairie just because it was close.

We bought more caulk and some groceries at Wally World.  Then we went home and I finished the caulking.  That concludes all of the work that needed to be done on the trailer.

After that it was some surfing and then lunch.  We went to the club after lunch.  We talked for awhile and then I had a nap.  When I woke up I went outside and talked with the Heitlof's dfor a couple of hours.

Ellen fixed meatloaf for dinner.  After dinner it was TV, a walk, and surfing.
