Day 970

We didn't get up until 8:30, there was no reason to get up earlier.  Then it was pet stuff, breakfast, and dumping the black tank.  After a little surfing we left at 10 for the vet.

The vet gave Devon a clean bill of health except for an eye infection that 95% of kittens get.  He prescribed some antibiotics.  Lucy got a flu shot.  Devon was too small for shots, so we'll wait a month.

We were done about noon, so we went to Arby's by way of Beaverton Bakery.  Then it was the pet store for prescription food for Fletcher.  The final stop was Fry's where I bought a SD card to store music on for the car.

When we got home I collected some CD's.  There are almost 100 here.  I got out my big computer and took it to the club to rip them.  The process needs some desk area and there isn't any in the trailer.  I ripped 12 CD's.

The ripping process was complicated by both the firewall and Microsoft wanting to do updates.  I had to do a reboot to get them to quit hogging the CPU.  The reboot failed, and I had to do a manual one.  Luckily that worked.

I didn't get finished until 6:30.  Ellen fixed sausage and pancakes for dinner.  After dinner it was TV and my walk, followed by surfing.

Day 969

Kitten woke us up several time last night with his crying.  That's why we didn't get up until 9.  After pet stuff and breakfast we didn't have anything planned - so it was surfing.  Vandy called an asked us to train some trappers.  So we went to the club about 11.

We spent until about 2:30 training the trappers.  We had a couple of them that wanted to shoot, so we took them to a couple of stations to shoot.  They really liked it.

After that we went back to the trailer for a really late lunch.  Then it was some more surfing.

Dinner was Ramen with strawberries for dessert.  Afterwards Lucy and I went for our walk.  Dave and Vandy were outside with the Heitlof's when I walked by.  They flagged me down and invited us to dinner on the 3rd.  We are to bring the watermelon and hamburger buns.

When I got home it was TV, a nap, and a little reading.  Devon slept on my lap for awhile.  Fletcher came down and jumped up.  He immediately hissed at Devon.  I hope he learns to like Devon.

Day 968

We got up at 8 today.  Yo texted that Tony had voluntarily agreed to stay in the hospital for 14 days.  After getting dressed I went to the kitchen to find kitten.  He was no where to be found.  I took the place apart twice and couldn't find him.  I also searched the living room in case he'd got in there.  No kitten.

Ellen started to move the living room couch.  I noticed a small hole under the living room doors.  I told her to look in there.  She did and said she didn't see anything.  We kept searching.  I finally decided that he had to be in the hole.  I got down on the floor with a flashlight and saw him.

The next step was how to get him out.  I thought I could do it from the cupboard under the sink.  I emptied everything out of there.  It was full of rat shit and a dead mouse.  I cleaned that up and then started to disassemble the back of the cupboard.  When I finished I discovered that there was no opening from there to where the kitten was.  That left removing the living room doors.

I took off the trim as I prepared to remove the doors.  That's when I realized that removing the doors wasn't necessary.  Removing both trim pieces allowed moving the doors out so I could reach the kitten with a broom handle.  We got him out and put him in his carrier.  Then we started putting things back together.

When I took the cupboard apart I found a hole in the floor where the mice had been getting in.  I needed more steel wool to plug it up.  Also, we hadn't had breakfast and it was after 11.  So we went to the club to dump garbage and install the new blu-ray player.  Ellen talked with Vandy about the state tournament and I ordered a knife from Dave (I don't need it, but we haven't bought much this year).

After that we left for Woodburn.  We stopped at AC/DC for lunch.  Then we went to ACE where I got some screws for the handguard.  The final stop was Wally World where we got some steel wool, some milk substitute, a lead and collar for kitten, and some bananas.

When we got home we finished putting the trailer back together.  Then I went out to use the new handguard screws.  They were too long.  The rest of the time until dinner was dealing with all of the emails concerning Mom's move and sales for the 4th.

Even though finding the kitten was an hours long pain in the ass, several little improvement jobs got done because of it:

1.  My kitchen chair has had a tear in it for a long time.  I've been meaning to switch it, and finally did because we were tearing the kitchen nook apart looking for the kitten.
2.  One of the spare kitchen chairs had a broken leg.  Apparently I'd tried to glue it, but that didn't work.  I fixed it with deck screws.  Now it's stronger than it was new.
3. There was a lot of extra crap under the sink which made it hard to get things.  That all got cleaned out and a lot of old useless stuff got thrown away.  Now things are neat and easy to access.  The rat shit and dead mouse are gone, too.
4.  The hole under the floor of the cupboard is now covered with steel wool and screen.  Mice won't be able to enter the cupboard any more.  They can still get in under the slide out.  There's no way to stop that.
5.  Ellen cleaned out behind and below the living room couch.  It was filled with rat shit and mold.  She also used the mold cleaner on the carpet.  This should make things smell better in there.
6.  All of the stuff in the nook has been rearranged.  The result is a lot neater and easier to access.

Kitten now has a collar and is on a lead.  Ellen has been holding him and has gotten him to sleep on her lap.  He's sleeping in the carrier right now.  It's been stressful for him, but he will adapt.

Ellen fixed hamburgers for dinner.  That hamburgers twice in one day, but I liked them.

After dinner I took a walk.  The rest of the evening was TV and reading.

Day 967

We got up about 8 this morning.  There wasn't any early task, so we did pet stuff, had breakfast, and surfed.  We reviewed all the kitten name possibilities we had found and settled on Devon.  We left for Sandy to pick up the kitten a little after 9.  We took the back way there and it was a pleasant drive.

We got to the breeder's at 10:30 - right on time.  She brought out the kitten and gave us a little goodie bag with some kitten food and a toy.  We put the kitten in the carrier we just bought.  The carrier sat on Ellen's lap all the way home.  The kitten wasn't all that happy with the process, but he didn't make much noise.

When we got home we set up things for the kitten.  We surfed for awhile to make sure everything was OK.  Fletcher came down, sniffed the carrier, and hissed at the kitten.  I'm not sure he's too thrilled about having a new companion  I thought he would be.

The back of the Ranger was piled with garbage, so we made a run to the club.  We stopped there and talked with people on the porch for hours.  The handguard I've been waiting for was there.

When we went back I took the AR out to the shed to switch handguards.  The mounting hoes on the new one matched those of the old.  Unfortunately the new barrel nut was about 1/16 inch shorter then the one on the rifle.  That meant I had to elongate the holes in the handguard to attach it.  Another job for Dremel.  I started with a stone - it broke after 1 hole.  Then I used a diamond rasp - it filled up with aluminum after 1 1/2 holes.  I finished with a mill bit.  I should have started with it.  It made short work of the rest of the holes.

The mounting screws for the old handguard were hex head.  I needed button head.  I used the hex ones for now.  I'll buy new ones later.

After more surfing and dinner I went to the TVSC meeting at Tri-county.  It took them about half an hour to drum the asshole out of the club.  The list of things he did were amazing.  Lying, allocating Tri-county money to fight TVSC, filing complaints with the county, EPA, and IRS.  Those were only part of the things.

After the meeting I went over to Best Buy and bought a $50 blu-ray player for the club.l  That way we can actually watch a movie at the next movie night.

The rest of the evening was TV - at least until I fell asleep.  I woke up at 11 to go to bed.  We closed the doors to the living room and the bedroom so the kitten was confined to the kitchen.  You could hear him meowing when we went to bed.

Day 966

We got up at 7:15, did the pet stuff, had breakfast, and left to do the laundry.  We were done with the laundry a little after 9.

Mom didn't answer the phone when I called.  I called again after a wait and she still didn't answer.  So I called right back.  She finally answered.

The drive up was uneventful.  Just after we got there the nurse came in to check Mom's infected eye.  We'll have the social worker take her to the doctor Thursday if it doesn't get better.  After that we left for a pet store.  We wanted to buy some stuff for the new kitten and I wanted Mom to get something for her cat since she couldn't last week.

We bought a cat carrier, cat bed, litter scoop, and some toys.  Of course we also got the dog a treat.  After that we stopped at the Donner store.  We didn't need anything, but I wanted to see it.  We did see this cool growler thing I might buy Hooch.  Then we went to a pizza place in the same shopping center.  It served lots of other things and none of us had pizza.  It was good though and we'll be back.

After that we took Mom home.  We still had to stop at Hooch's place.  Even then 217 was slow at Allen and I5 was slow at Lake Oswego.  It was only 2.

When we got home we surfed until 5:30 then we went to the club for Pizza and a movie.  Unfortunately the blu-ray player wouldn't play the movie.  So it was pizza and talk.

When we got home it was TV and surfing.  I had another long conversation with Yo concerning what to do when they cut Tony loose.  I'm cautiously optimistic.

Day 965

We got up at 8, did the pet stuff and had breakfast.  There wasn't much to do until 10 when it was time to go see Bob.  So we surfed.

We left the dog at home.  When we got to Bob's we spent about an hour running different scenarios for bleeding down the retirement and Intel accounts.  It took 7 tries, but we came up with an optimal one.  He wouldn't take any payment for his time.

While I was there I got a text from Dan saying that they'd found Three Dollar Bill.  Apparently the police had picked him up and taken him to a nut hatch (not Harborview).  When we were finished with Bob I called Yo.  He had been to the hospital and said Tony was out of it.  Yo promised to pick him up when hes' released and get the power of attorney signed.

One cool note.  Yo took movies of him while he's acting crazy.  That way Tony can't say it never happened.

I called the hospital after Yo.  They have him on 72 hour hold and describe him as "extremely manic".  They have his records from Harborview, so they know what they are dealing with.  There's nothing else to do until Thursday.

We stopped at a pizza place, Cabela's, and Freddies on the way home.  We had about an hour after we got home before we left to see Deadpool 2 with Dave and the Heitlof's.  It's a really good movie.

When we got home it was surfing for the rest of the evening.

Day 964

I woke up a couple of times this morning and then went back to sleep.  I was surprised to find I got up finally at 8.  We did the pet stuff and had breakfast.  Then it was some surfing.  I got out the range finder and we went to the club to do the 5-stand flags.  When we got there Gerry and Garrett were there, so change of plans.

We went shooting with Gerry, Garrett, and Craig.  We had a great time.  I'm getting more in sync with the new butt pad position, but it's not all there yet.  The day was sunny and a little warm, but not uncomfortable.

After shooting I sat and talked to Craig for awhile.  Ellen looked through the old gun club files, but couldn't find what she wanted because she can't read with her contacts on.  So we went home and had lunch.  After lunch Ellen went back to the club to continue the paper search.  I surfed.

About 4 I went to the club.  Ellen was bullshitting.  I got the 5-stand controller and we went out and set the flags.  By then it was almost 90 and pretty hot working in the sun.  When we got done we went back to the trailer and had dinner - bacon hamburgers.  They were frozen, but they were good.

After dinner was reading, TV, and surfing.

Saturday, June 23, 2018

Day 963

We got up at 9.  After that it was pet stuff and breakfast.  After a little surfing we went to Silverton for the farmer's market.  Strawberry season is almost over and we wanted to get the last ones.

They were having a bicycle race that started and ended at Silverton.  The courses were 30, 70, and 100 miles.  There were 1600 riders.  The roads we were driving on were crowded with bicycles.

The farmer's market was as usual except for a dozen or so jackasses demonstrating in support of the fucking illegal aliens.  It took a lot of self control, but I left them alone.

After that we walked around town for awhile.  We went into a couple of antique stores, but didn't see anything worthy of buying.  Then we went to the outdoor bar for a somewhat early lunch.  On the way home we stopped at Baumann's.  They were having a cider tasting event.  We didn't participate, but we did by some fruits and vegetables.

We got home after 12.  I started to do some little projects that needed doing.  I glued the light fixture lens that I broke when I thought the bedroom light was dead.  Then I went to the club and made up the 6 flags for the 5-stand.  After that I measure the trim for the Station 7 platform, cut it, and installed it.  That will protect the exposed ends of the flooring.

After that I decided I'd done enough.  So I went inside and surfed until dinner.  Ellen fixed stirfry from stuff we bought at Baumann's.

After dinner was TV, reading, and surfing.

Day 962

I think we got up a little after 8.  After pet stuff and breakfast we did a little surfing.  Then I went out to start washing the big trailer.  Ellen had a lesson at 10, so I just washed the front, East side, and bottom half of the back.  I left the rest because that's where the windows were.

When I was finished with that I went to the club and rearranged the boxes in the back room.  Vandy's mother was happy with the result.  Then I went on errands with her dad.  We picked up a mower tire, got some material to make marker flags (that's why I went), and filled up half a dozen gas cans.

Yo called as we got back to the club.  I talked to him for half an hour.  He took Tony to the doctor.  Tony said he was fine, so of course the doctor wouldn't do anything.  He wouldn't tell Yo anything either.  I told Yo that was about what to expect.  Yo is getting a little frustrated, Tony kept him up all night in a manic talk fest.  I've been there.  I hope Yo doesn't give up.  I guess Yo will try to get Tony put in the hospital the next time Tony goes off.

I ate lunch after the phone call and then Ellen and I went out and finished washing the trailer.  It does look nice now.  Then we got the new cat box ready for the new kitty.  After that we went to get the mail, some money for the kitty, and some milk.  Then I went back to the club and talked with Dave about what he wanted done with the flags.  I also sat outside and talked with Vandy's parents for awhile.

Dinner was another Safeway giant sandwich.  After dinner was TV and some reading.

Thursday, June 21, 2018

Day 961

We woke up at 7, turned over and went back to sleep until about 8:15.  Then lit was pet stuff and breakfast.  There was a text from Yo on my phone.  Apparently Tony is off his meds, acting weird, and Yo doesn't know what to do.  I told him to look for bottles of meds he should be taking and get him to his doctor.  The text and phone conversations took quite awhile.

We were going to wash the big trailer today, but I got an email from Pat inviting us to the coast.  So we left for Lincoln City about 10.  We got there about 11:45.  It was a fun drive over the Wheatland ferry and through Amity.

When we got there we looked over all of the work John's been doing.  The kitchen has been completely torn out an partially put back together.  The cabinets and windows are in, but the plumbing, flooring, and appliances remain to be done.  It's going to look really nice.

We talked and drank for awhile.  Then Pat and I went outside to soak up the rays.  There was a light overcast, but it was warm with no wind.  I might have napped a little.  After a couple of hours of that we walked to downtown to take the dogs to the new pet store.  It's large and really nice.  Of course some treats were purchased.

We ordered late lunch/early dinner after that (pizza).  Then we talked until 7.  At that point we left to go home.  The ferry closes at 9:45 and I wanted to make sure we had plenty of time.  Also I wanted to drive home in the daylight.  We made good time.  We also had great mileage, about 33 both going out and coming back.

When we got home we fed and watered the cat.  The breeder says the new kitten is ready.  I'm not sure we're ready for it.  Ellen has a lesson tomorrow, and we want to go to a function on Saturday.  Maybe we'll get him on Monday.

Wednesday, June 20, 2018

Day 960

We got up at 8:15, did pet stuff and breakfast.  Then I went out and did the tanks - dumped black and filled drinking.  While I was doing that I started getting things ready for cleaning the big trailer's roof.

We used two hoses.  One for my brush on the roof and the other for Ellen to spray off the stuff that came off the roof.  Apparently the cleaner had to be hosed off the trailer immediately.

The process was to first scrub a 3x5 foot area to get off the surface dirt.  Then I squirted cleaner and let it set for a minute.  Then I scrubbed off the dirt.  I had to scrub hard.  Finally I turned on the water on the brush and rinsed off the area.  Then it was off to the next 3x5 area.  I also used a sprayer to spray out all of the moss that was clogging the gutters.

I didn't finish until a little after noon.  I was really hot and tired.  I went inside and drank a bottle of water.  Then I had a pint of IPA.  After that I had enough energy to eat lunch.

After lunch we did a little surfing and then went to the club.  Dave and Vandy are cleaning out the back rooms and wanted us to look at some stuff to see if it was worth keeping.  It was all obsolete computer gear and not worth anything.

The battery had died on the Ranger, so I hooked it up to the charger before we walked to the club.  It was really dead and took until about 8 to recharge.

We had some checks, so we drove to Woodburn and deposited them.  Then we went to Safeway and bought a few things we really didn't need.

The rest of the day was reading, TV, and surfing.  I threw ouit the rest of the Chinese.  I think that's what made me sick last night.  We had parts of a gigantic Safeway sandwich for dinner.

Tuesday, June 19, 2018

Day 959

We were up at 7 today, did the pet stuff and had breakfast, put the laundry in the car, and were out the door before 8.  We were done with the wash a little after 9.

We drove to Hooch's house first.  I did the pond.  Ellen got the mail and emptied the milk they left in the refrigerator.  Then we went to see Mom.

Mom was ready when we got there.  I looked at the bills and cleaned the cat box.  Then we left for "Pirate Park".  I thought it was a dog park, but it was a kids park with an amazing collection of play equipment.  It was overrun with mothers and their kids.  We walked a little past it, which was a mistake.  They way back was an uphill and Mom got tired.  She had to sit and rest halfway up.

When we got back to the car we went to a restaurant at 185th and West Union.  We'd never been there.  It was good, and had Breakpoint IPA.  There was a nice place outside in the shade for us to eat with the dog.

It was only a little after noon when we finished.  So I drove over to the window tinting place and made an appointment to get the car's windows tinted.  I warned Mom it would be boring, but she wanted to go.  Then it was take Mom home even though it was a little early.  I called about a pending bill that came in the mail.  Hooch had already paid it.  Then we left.

We got as far as Freddies on 217 before Ellen's asshole forced a stop.  We were there for quite awhile.  It was 2:30 before we were back on the road.  By that time 217 and I5 were slow.  We stopped at Wilsonville for fuel and at the post office.  I decided we needed strawberries, so we drove to Jone's.  Finally we got home a little before 4.

It was in the upper 80's, so we just stayed inside for the rest of the afternoon.  I read, Ellen watched TV.

Dinner was left over Chinese.  There's some left, but I'm going to throw it out.  I developed stomach pains and diarrhea about an hour after dinner.  I still did my walk, but it was at a slower speed.

The rest of the evening was TV and surfing.

Monday, June 18, 2018

Day 958

I woke up early, I'm not sure when.  I turned over and went back to sleep.  I did this a couple of more times and finally got up at 9.  After pet stuff and breakfast it was time to give the small trailer a bath.

I started by closing the trailer up and putting on the tire protectors.  Then I got out the implements of destruction and started.  Ellen came out to help.  After I washed off the front, she got on the ladder and used some bug off stuff to remove the dried bugs.  There were a lot of them.

Once that was done I washed the rest of the trailer while Ellen followed behind washing the windows.  We got done at noon.

After a little surfing we had lunch.  Then we took the dog to the Wheatland ferry to swim.  She had a great time.  I'm not sure how many retrieves she did, but it was quite a few.  When we were done we took Wheatland down to River Road.  On the way we drove through the Willamette Mission State Park.  It looks like a cool place.  We'll have to go back and explore it.

We fueled up at the Mobile station on River road.  It was the cheapest Diesel around.  That was good, because we needed 18.5 gallons.  Then I drove down River Road to the pet store.  We bought Lucy a treat and scoped out their dog food offerings.  They have several good senior dog foods.

The last stop was Fred Meyer.  They didn't have box dinners, but we got a couple of other things.  Then we went to the post office and went home.

It was warm when we got home, so the rest of the afternoon was reading and surfing.  Dinner was leftover Chinese.  There's enough for tomorrow, too.

The evening was TV and surfing.

Day 957

I'm not sure when we got up, but it was fairly early.  After pet stuff and breakfast I went out to get some stuff done.  I used the headlight cleaner we bought awhile back on the truck headlights.  I think it did a little good.  Then I tackled the bad switch for the Ranger backup camera.

As soon as I got the dash off the problem was obvious.  The cheap Chinese piece of shit switch had come apart.  I mean it fell into pieces.  I spent some time figuring out the 5 leads of the new switch.  Then I wired it in.  It doesn't light up exactly as I want, and I have no idea why not.  I wired it the same way I tested it on the bench, but it didn't operate that way when I installed it.  Oh well, it works well enough.

I got done about noon and went in for lunch.  Then it was a little surfing until we decided to take the dog swimming.  As we were driving out we saw Gerry with his wife and daughter.  We decided to shoot with them instead.  We had fun shooting.  I'm going to need to get used to the changes I've made to the butt pad.  It will take awhile.

When we were finished we talked for awhile.  Then they left.  We decided to got to Roth's for a couple of things.  We stopped at Jing's and ordered a whole bunch of food.  It will last a couple of days.

When we got home we ate Chinese.  It was in the mid 80's today, so I waited until about 8:30 to walk.  The sun was still well above the horizon.

The rest of the evening was TV and surfing.

Saturday, June 16, 2018

Day 956

We got up at 9 today, which was interesting since we had a 10:00 vet appointment.  We hurriedly got dressed, fed the pets, and left.  I was doing 75 most of the way up I5, and over 70 on I217.  We made it there at 9:55.

We took both Fletcher and Lucy in.  Fletcher got a check up.  He's gained weight, which is good.  He's still much lighter than he was.  Lucy got a blood test and an xray.  The xray showed up that she has back problems.  The vet said that this probably explains her leg problems yesterday.  She won't be doing much hunting, maybe none at all.

We stopped at Cabela's on the way home.  They had a sale on AA shells and there's a rebate.  Between the two it's a good price.  Unfortunately there were almost no shells left, and none we wanted.

We dropped off the pets at home and went to French Prairie.  They were having a special event with BBQ, beer, and a lot of kid's activities.  I had a couple of beers with our lunch.  The "BBQ" wasn't very BBQ, but it was good.  We rode the reclining bicycles and the hay wagon.  It was fun.  I also got a growler of the Breakside IPA I like so much.

When we got back we stopped at the club.  Dave and Vandy weren't there.  WTF.  They're not there on a summer Saturday.  We talked with Tucker for quite awhile and then went back to the trailer.  I took a walk and then we had leftover Tacos for dinner.

After dinner it was surfing and TV.

Day 955

We woke up a little after 8, but lolled around in bed until almost 9.  Then we got up, did pet stuff, and had breakfast.  We surfed for awhile and then left to go to an estate sale.  The sale was south of Salem on a side road.  The road lead to this high buck neighborhood on top of a ridge overlooking the valley to the east.  It was quite a view.

We got there about an hour after it opened, but it was pretty picked over.  I did get what I came for - an old style battery charger.  Gerry texted us and wanted to shoot at 1, so we went back home and had lunch.  After a little surfing we met him at the club.

We had a great time shooting.  We took more than two hours shooting multiple times at any presentation we missed.  The we bullshitted some when we were finished.

I'd learned that because I'd lost weight the butt plate needed to be straightened.  My shoulder hurt from all of the shooting with it canted.  So I stopped at the club and straightened it.  I have high hopes when I shoot it next time.

It was a little after 4 when we had everything put away.  We drove to French Prairie to get strawberries.  They only had a few because they are saving them for a big event tomorrow.  We bought some anyway.

We stopped at Woodburn for money and groceries.  We ended up spending quite awhile at Wally world looking at blu-rays.

When we got home Ellen fixed tacos.  After dinner it was surfing and TV.

Thursday, June 14, 2018

Day 954

We got up a little after 8, did the pet stuff and had breakfast.  After breakfast I filled the water tank.  I also worked for awhile disassembling 20 ga.  At 11 we left to have lunch with Gerry.

We had a good lunch and talk.  We also went over all of the finances.  Of course we made a lot of money last year.  The issues are reducing our Intel holdings while minimizing taxes.  We also have to address minimum distributions.  I also wanted to get the money back from the Athena thing.  It made sense to have 10 years ago, but doesn't any more.  What we decided to do was move the money to an investment account.  I plan on blowing the whole amount on travel once Lucy isn't around.

On the subject of Lucy, we're a little worried.  She's been acting a little under the weather.  She didn't want to do retrieves yesterday even though it was cool.  We're taking her to the vet on Sat.

After lunch we went home because Ellen's asshole was giving her problems.  She went into the trailer commune with the toilet.  I went to the club to empty the garbage and check in with Dave.  There was a second sewer hose container there from Amazon.  I don't know why they sent us two, I only ordered (and paid) for one.  When I got back I finished the rest of the 20 ga and cleaned up the mess that the process had made.

By then Ellen's asshole had subsided.  So we went to the factory stores.  Both of us needed new shoes.  We bought Merrel's.  We looked at all of the stores, but the only other thing we bought was a baking pan.

We got home in time for Ellen to drive back to Woodburn for the board meeting.  I had dinner (a sandwich and cereal) and surfed.

When Ellen got home we watched TV for the rest of the evening.

Wednesday, June 13, 2018

Day 953

We got up at 9.  It was cold and the bed was warm.  We did the pet stuff and had breakfast.  Then I went out to work on the hull basket holder.

I attached the rail parts I'd built yesterday and then put on top rails.  After that I took it out to the stand.  I took Ellen along to help.  I tied some cord to the rail and Ellen held it while I positioned it and put in a couple of screws.  Then I took her home.

I went back out and put in the rest of the screws.  I also marked some places that needed to be cut on the braces.  Skip came by to shoot the station and I pulled for him.  Then we bullshitted for awhile.  It took me three trips back and forth to get the first brace cut right.  Then I cut the second one the same way and installed them.

There were two problems.  I installed the decking wrong and there was a gap between the holder decking and the station decking.  I unscrewed the holder decking and reinstalled it so there was no gap.  I also installed a fourth top rail because it looked better than leaving the near side open.  Doing that required me to stand in the holder.  It was fine.

I got done about 2.  I had lunch and then did some surfing.  Ellen went to a pre-board meeting.  They are arguing with Dave over how much he is paying the club.  Apparently things are getting heated.  After surfing I went out and disassembled another 40+ 20 ga shells.  I still have 80+ to go.

I went on my walk and then had dinner (TV).  After dinner it was surfing and TV.

Day 952

We got up before 8.  By 8:30 we were at the laundromat having done the pet stuff and had breakfast.  I called Mom at nine and told her to be ready in about an hour.  When we got there she was.

I picked up some papers for Dan and emptied the cat box.  Then we took Mom to the dog park.  That wasn't as good an idea as I thought it would be.  The paths are gravel and were hard for her to navigate.  The dog wasn't interested in doing retrieves at all.  We only stayed for about 45 minutes.

We went to the bar by Laurel Park to have lunch.  Hooch met us there.  We had a good lunch and talk.  After lunch Hooch went to do errands.  The pet store there is going out of business.  We went there and gave the dog a bath and bought some sale priced dog food.  Then we went for a cupcake.

By then it was 2.  Mom had a walking appointment at 2:30, so we took her home.  Hooch had given us the keys to his house, so we went there to wait for him.  He came in later for a minute and then left to ferry Sophia somewhere.

Martha brought Alicia home and we talked for awhile.  Alicia got braces today, so we gave her shit about that.  Then Hooch called and said he wanted to meet for an early dinner.  We went to a soup and sandwich shop at Cornell and the freeway.

After dinner we went to Columbia.  We bought $200 of necessary clothes.  Then we went to Hooch's place.  We talked for awhile and then said our goodbyes.  We won't see them until we get back in late July.

When we got home we put all of our stuff away and did some surfing before bed.

Day 951

We didn't get up until 9.  We were awake, just didn't feel like getting out of bed.  Then it was pet stuff and breakfast.  After breakfast I did a few little things, brought in the dry clothes and put the dog cover back in the car after cleaning the back seat (we took it out on Sat when it got wet).

Then I decided to take apart the 20 ga reloads that Dan gave us.  The job sucks.  It took me two hours to do 75 shells, and that isn't half of them.  The crimps are terrible, which makes them hard to open.  Occasionally pulling out the wad results in powder all over.  I quit for lunch at 1.

After lunch I decided I needed to do something else.  So I talked to Dave about putting gun racks at the new shooting station.  He said someone else had said they'd do it.  I went out to look at it.  While there I saw that it needs a platform for the hull basket.  I went back to Dave and talked to him.  We agreed on a design for the platform and one for the gun rack.

Most of the platform could be made from scrap, but I needed a 2x4, some brackets, and screws.  So I went to Lowe's.  When I got back it was time to walk before dinner.  Ellen fixed pork chops and potatoes.

After dinner I measured the platform one last time and then started building it.  I worked until 8:30.  I got the platform pieces cut and assembled.  I also got some of the rail pieces cut.  I stopped at that point because the sun was going down and the mosquitoes were coming out.

The rest of the evening was surfing.  Ellen is watching chick flicks.  I think she's up to at least 2 a day.

Day 950

We got up at 8 today.  After breakfast and pet stuff we got ready to go to the club.  It was raining a little, but since we said we were going to shoot, we did.

It was cold and windy while we were shooting.  It rained a little at times, but nothing really hard.  It was enough to insure that the guns would need cleaning.  Ellen shot well, she got a punch.  I screwed up a couple of stations.  That was good.  If It'd shot them well I would have gotten a punch.

We ate lunch (hamburgers) at the club.  I would have just as well eaten at the trailer, but I wanted to support the vendor.  There were only about 30 people because of the weather.  As soon as I was done I went home and cleaned the gun.

When I was finished Ellen cleaned her gun.  I went inside and surfed.  The day continued to be cold, windy, and rainy.  So the rest of the day was surfing, with some TV in the evening.

Day 949

We got up a little after 8, did the pet stuff, and left to go to Rickreal.  We took the ferry.  The road on the other side was a nice drive - especially in the Audi.  The sun was shining and the sky almost clear when we got there.  We left the windows partially open for the dog.

The show was as good as usual.  Unfortunately the food has been taken over by a new group.  They only had breakfast burritos for breakfast.  I looked through the whole show and saw some interesting guns.  Unfortunately there weren't any that were priced such that I wanted to buy them.  The ammo collector wasn't there either, so I couldn't get rid of the antique shotgun shells I have.

We wanted to leave about 11, but there was a huge thunderstorm outside.  Very heavy rain and hail.  So we walked around the show for about 15 minutes until it dies down.  When we got back to the car the entire interior was soaked.  There was even hail in the front seats.  The dog was not happy.

We got the beach towel out of the back and dried the front as well as we could.  We couldn't do everything though, so we drove back home instead of going to Hooch's.  We got more towels there and dried the rest of the car.  I will say that the stuff they put on the interior really helped the process.

After that we went up to see Hooch.  We got there a little after 2 and talked for awhile before it we time to go to the kid's piano recital.  The recital took about 2 hours.  Sophia is all right for her age, and Alicia is getting pretty good.   There were a couple of older students that were quite good.

After that we went back to Hooch's for a little while and then went to a Japanese restaurant for dinner.  That lasted until 8.  We went back to Hooch's for more talking until 9, and then went home.

Day 948

We got up about 8 today.  After pet stuff and breakfast I drained the tanks and filled the fresh water.  The whole process takes about an hour.  When that we done we got out the guns to go shooting. the weatherman said that it's going to rain for the next two days.

I took Ellen around to the three rabbit stations she worked on yesterday with Vandy.  She did really well, but needs to keep practicing them.  We ended up at the connex 5-stand.  I shot the menu to make sure it was good.  I just had to make 1 change.  We had a really good time shooting.  I used the UGB.  I shoot it a lot better now that it's shorter.

When we moved from station 15 to the 5-stand Lucy didn't see us move.  She must have spent a long time searching for us, but eventually she ended up in the Ranger.  That was a very good dog.

After shooting we stopped at the club for a little while.  Then it was lunch.  After lunch we went to Carhart's just to have something to do.  We bought a couple of t-shirts.  I got some lumber patch plates at Lowes, Ellen got some needles at Michael's , and Lucy got a treat at the pet store.

When we got back Ellen went to the club to help with their computer.  I stayed at the trailer, did my exercises, and surfed.

Ellen fixed stir-fry for dinner.  After dinner it was TV.

Day 947

We woke up at 8:15 today.  We did pet stuff and had breakfast.  Then we did a little surfing before going to the club at 9:30.  Ellen had her "how to hit rabbits" lesson with Vandy.  Vandy managed to diagnose her problem and get her hitting rabbits with some regularity.  Unfortunately part of the problem is stock fit.  Apparently Stocker didn't set it up quite right.  Now she's talking about a new stock.  That's fine with me, I have some nice stock blanks with nothing to put them on.

After the lesson we went back to the club and talked for awhile.  Then we went back to the trailer for lunch.  When we finished we went to Gervais for the mail.  Then we went to French Prairie to see what they had.  We bought two types of strawberries and some snow peas.

From there we went to Safeway in Woodburn to get the rest of the ingredients for stir fry. They had a sale on frozen pizzas, so we bought two of those.  Then it was home for some surfing.

After surfing for awhile I went out to the shed and did my exercises.  It's the first time I've done them since we left Austin.  I was surprised at how easily I did them.  Then it was more surfing and later a walk.

Dinner was pizza and salad.  After dinner it was TV, reading, and a movie.  It was a movie I bought a few days ago.  It was an adventure comedy starring the Rock.  I like him.

Day 946

We didn't get up until almost 9.  It was cold, and the warm bed felt good.  Then we did the pet stuff and had breakfast.

The fluorescent light in the bedroom quit working.  So I took off the cover, breaking it in the process.  I got the manufacturer and looked them up on the web.  They don't make that item anymore.  After a lot of work I found a suitable replacement on the web.  Amazon had it, but only when I searched using the manufacturer and model number.  "fluorescent light" by itself didn't show that model.  Amazon search sucks.

That got me looking for other stuff on the web.  Ellen sat with me and we went through 20 pages of Audi related stuff.  We ordered some valve stem caps and some key identifiers.  I also looked for a couple of other items I wanted.  Again the search function was worthless.  I had to go through pages of stuff to find what I wanted.  I ended up ordering $250 worth of stuff.

Amazon took until 1.  We had lunch and then did a little surfing.  I got bored, so we went to the club.  I put the dog cookies in the cookie jar.  Then we sat with the Heitloft's and talked for hours.  When it was dinner time I loaded up the ammo we'd bought earlier and went home.  I decided that we'd had enough of Hal's reloads.  It sounds like Tucker (working at the club) might take them.

When we got back I put the ammo in the shed.  I also went through Hal's 20 ga reloads.  There were two boxes with AA hulls.  I'm keeping them.

We had pizza and salad for dinner.  After dinner it was TV and reading.

Day 944

We got up a little after 8 to do pet stuff and have breakfast.  Then we went to do the laundry.  While Ellen sat at the laundromat I did some errands.  It was more stock bolt candidates at the hardware store, dog crunchies for the club at Coastal, bananas at Mega Foods, and nothing at all at Bi-Mart.

While I was at Bi-Mart they told me to check my membership number.  My card is so old (12 years) that it was worn off.  I went to customer service to get a replacement.  The numbers are 7 digits long.  Mine starts 093xxxx.  All of the winning numbers started 2xxxxxx.  I don't think I'll be winning anything.

When we got home I took the UGB out to the shed to work on it.  Before I started I had to put awauy all of the stuff I'd piled on the benches.  I also decided to replace the broken compartment door latch on the big trailer.  It broke last year.

Working on the UGB was quite a pain in the ass getting the bolt threaded into the stock.  It turned out that the metric bolts I bought last week worked.  I just had to torque them hard because of the thread lock that was in the bolt hole.

After lunch I dragged Ellen over to the trap field to test out the UGB.  It was too long, which made it hard to control and shoot high.  I didn't hit many, but the gun worked fine.

When I got back I took the UGB back to the shed.  I shortened the stock by removing the spacers.  That was a pain because someone had use thread locker on the bolts.  Then I gave it a bath.  That was even more of a pain because the gun can't be disassembled.

Then I did a little surfing and then took a walk before dinner.  Ellen fixed sausage and hot cakes.  After dinner it was TV and reading.  About 8:30 I noticed that the drawer that Ellen puts the pans in wouldn't close.  Investigation showed that she'd tried to put too many pans in it and broke the bottom.

I took the drawer out to the shed and fixed it.  While doing that on of the cheap Chinese piece of shit clamps broke, so I fixed it, too.

The rest of the evening was surfing and TV.

Day 943

I don't know why, but we didn't wake up until almost 9 today.  We did pet stuff and breakfast.  Ellen went over to talk to Vandy for a few minutes while I did a couple of housekeeping chores.  then we got the guns out and picked up the 5-stand controller from Dave.

We had a fun time at the connex 5-stand.  The targets were fun and they are set up so that you can do some interesting combinations.  We shot about a case of shells.  They were Hal's reloads and we won't be shooting any more.  They are loaded too heavy for us.  They also are a little inconsistent.  It seems that sometimes his reloader settings weren't exactly right and he didn't notice.

When we were finished shooting we went back to the club.  I had Ellen set up a lesson with Vandy.  Ellen can't hit righthand rabbits and I can't help her.  I'm tired of listening to her bitch.

After that we went back to the trailer and had lunch and did a little surfing.  Then we did a few errands.  We got gas for the Ranger, salt at Lowe's for the water softener, and went to Jone's farm for more strawberries.  We stopped at the Dollar General store in Gervais after getting the mail.  It's got an amazing variety of stuff at reasonable prices.  It will be saving me some trips to Woodburn.  Then it was back home.

We spent the afternoon surfing.  I probably should have done something, but I didn't feel like it.

We had leftover pork chops for dinner.  After dinner it was TV and reading.

Day 942

We woke up at 7, and went back to sleep until 8.  Then it was up for pet stuff and breakfast.  After breakfast I started screwing with the computer.  I had started an update (Microsoft is installing a whole new OS version) last night.  It only got 33% of the download done before the computer went to sleep.  I started it up again, but it was running really slow.

I fought with it for awhile, and got no where.  I texted Hooch and he said he wanted to shoot at Tri-county before Alicia's rifle practice.  We loaded up the car and left.  The stuff goes into the A4 trunk a lot easier than it does in the A5, even though the A5's trunk is "larger".  It may be larger, but it's not a useful.

When we got up to Hooch's the kids were playing computer games.  I helped Hooch get the trailer ready.  One of the back fenders had a support that wasn't connected.  So I drilled a hole and connected it with a bolt.  We did some more stuff and then had leftovers for lunch.

After lunch Hooch spent quite awhile getting the kids to go to Tri-county.  Neither wanted to go, but he was insistent.  He even got Martha to go.  Eventually we did go.  We took the kids to the skeet field and Ellen did the new shooter thing with both of them  Alicia did pretty good.  Sophia was sullen and only shot a couple of times.

Ellen and I shot some of the sporting clays stations while Alicia practiced.  Hooch decided to watch Alicia.  When they were done we went to Claimjumper for dinner.  The place serves massive portions.  I couldn't get the kids to order chocolate cake though.

It was 7 when we were done.  We just went home from there.  The computer had locked up installing the update.  I couldn't get it to restart.  Finally I did a restart.  That got it going again.  I'm relieved the update finally was successful.

The rest of the evening was TV and surfing.

Day 941

We got up at 7:30 today, did the pet stuff and had breakfast.  After breakfast I filled the fresh water tank.  The hose ran for almost 25 minutes.  The tank was almost empty.  After that we got into the car and drove up to Hooch's.

On the way we stopped at Home Depot to get the nails to hold down the trap signs.  They were 13 cents apiece, so I bought 20.  When we left there we saw a farmer's market at the Safeway parking lot.  We stopped and bought some strawberries and a laundry bag.

When we got to Hooch's he was fighting with his kids to get them to clean up their rooms.  Both of them were disaster areas.  Alicia was doing OK herself, but Sophia was putting up a stiff resistance.  So I decided to help.  She REALLY didn't want me to and kept asking me to leave.  Of course I didn't.  I do think my presence made her concentrate on the task at hand.  It took at least 4 hours, but she finally had the room presentable.

About 3 we went to Cornelius Pass Roadhouse for a really late lunch.  It was happy hour, so we all ate off the cheap menu.  It was still $100.  When we were finished we took the dogs to the adjacent dog park.  On the way home Ellen and I stopped at Freddies to get pound cake and whipping cream for the strawberries.

The rest of the evening was talking and game playing.  We left about 9:30.

When we got home we watered the cat, did a little surfing, and went to bed.

Day 940

We got up at 8 today, did the  pet stuff and had breakfast.  I weighed in because I forgot to yesterday.  I weighed 226.9.  That's 11 pounds more than I did before we left Austin.  It's the most I've weighed in a year.  I'm going back on my strict weight loss regimen until I get back where I was.

I spent part of the morning working on the trailers.  I put the new vent flap on the small trailer.  It was interesting.  The vent housing was designed to easily replace the flap.  I shouldn't need to again - the new one is metal.  I also replaced the sewer hose in the big trailer.  I took the couplings off the old one and threw the rest away.  It was too stiff to bend.  I replaced the coupling on the small trailer hose that broke on the trip.  That allows me to fit it in the hose tube again.

After that we went out for errands.  We stopped at the Brook's hardware store to get spikes for the trap signs.  They didn't have any.  They didn't have any at the lumber store either.  The next stop was Harbor Freight.  I bought a couple of tools and some tent spikes for the signs.

We went to the pet store to buy dog food.  Then it was Freddies for gas and some groceries I should have bought yesterday.  After that it was the post office and home.  Miraculously Three Dollar Bill actually sent Mom's disabled plaque.

After lunch (sandwich and some crackers) I went back to the 5-stand to set more targets.  Dave gave me a couple of receivers.  I set one machine where he told me to.  The other gave me problems, so I took it to the shop.  It's a bad switch, but we don't have extras.  Dave showed me how to finesse it.

I took the machine back out, but couldn't get it to work.  I did manage to fix the left hand tower machine.  It had a big tear in the negative battery wire's insulation.  There was also a disconnected power connection in the box wiring.  Finally, the connection to the receiver had a loose wire.  It works now.

I hope I get a chance to shoot the 5-stand tomorrow.  I think it will be fun.

I had a TV dinner for dinner.  I'll probably be eating lot of them for awhile.  After dinner was TV and surfing.
