Day 119

It was windy and cooler today, maybe 60.  We ran a bunch of errands in the morning.  The first stop was to order 7.5 yds of rock for the driveway.  We bought crushed limestone this time.  Maybe it won't slip down like the river rock did.  Then we picked up the mail and did a little grocery shopping.  We were low on cat food so we stopped at Tomlinson's (Lucy loved it).  The final stop was the park.  Lucy did a big number of long retrieves.

We ate lunch when we got home.  A little later the rock came.  I got out the mower and cart and started moving rock.  I filled up all of the ruts in the lower part of the driveway.  The new rock seems to pack down better than the old stuff.  Ellen came out to rake some of the rock.  In two and a half hours I moved more than half of it.  We got part of the upper driveway filled out also.  I hope I have enough.

The mower made the job a lot faster and easier.  I just loaded up the cart, hauled it down the driveway, and dumped it.  At the bottom I didn't even have to rake it.  I just drove the mower over the pile and the mower guard smoothed it out.

My back is giving me some pain tonight.  I'd like to get the rest moved tomorrow if I can.  The weather is supposed to be cool again.  We'll see.  If I hurt too much I'll probably put the lower together instead.  The parts came today.

Day 118

We went to Cabela's today.  It was amazing.  The gun department was stripped.  They maybe had 30 or so handguns and maybe 50 rifles.  That's all.  Luckily they had some .380.  I bought 5 boxes.  I also bought 1000 rounds of .22.  The .22 cost $60 and the .380 was $19 a box.

There were no bullets or powder.  Forget about primers.  If it was gun related stocks were down or nonexistent.

It was hot today - 85 degrees.  It was cloudy when we left, but it cleared up before we got to Cabela's.  Ellen had to stay in the car with Lucy.  She said it wasn't bad with the windows open, but would have been way to hot if we left Lucy alone.

We ate at Arby's.  There was a field next door and afterwards I threw the bumper.  The wind was blowing and Lucy did a good number of long retrieves.

When we got home I had a nap.  When I went out to get the mail I met the guy next door.  He had their new 8 week old lab puppy with him.  It is extremely cute.  Lucy played with Ben.  A little later Lola came out with Teddy and the three dogs had a good time.  At the end Lola's dad came by and I told him I'd help with the house expansion if he needed it.

Day 117

We went to the range today.  We took the two new guns because Ellen isn't strong enough to operate the Kimber.  It was crowded and loud when we got there.  The sound was mainly because the guys next to us were shooting a rifle.  Over time it cleared out and then things were much improved.

They had the CHL course of fire posted on the wall behind us.  It looked fairly challenging.  Ellen practiced at the three ranges with regular pistol targets and after about 50 rounds got to where she probably could pass.  She was also listening to an instructor that was teaching some women a couple of lanes over.  I had no problem with my gun.  The problem is going to be ammo.  We don't have much 380 and there's none around to buy.

As we were leaving I asked to buy one of the CHL qualification targets.  It's inner ring is bigger than the targets that we were using.  When we went to Academy I picked up some targets that will allow us to practice using a target about the size of the inner ring.  That way hits anywhere on that target are good.  I also picked up two boxes for my gun so I wouldn't have to waste the good stuff practicing.

All in all we had a great time.

On the way back I picked up my pills at Wally World and some water at Costco.  It was 80 degrees and very humid.  There are supposed to be really high winds tomorrow.

I ordered a couple of reloading dies tonight.  They won't be any good if I can't find some supplies.

Sunday, January 27, 2013

Day 116

There was a tournament today, but we didn't feel like going.  Instead we did some errands.  We went to Wally World for my pills.  Unfortunately it was lunch time for the pharmacy so I have to go back tomorrow.

The we went to Circle C.  Lucy did a very few retrieves, probably because it was 78 degrees.  Then we went on a walk.  She liked that a lot more and did a lot of exploring.  There were a whole lot of frisbee golfers out.  We both thought it was a lot more fun than going to the tournament.

We stopped a HEB for some needed stuff and then came home.

Day 115

We went to the gun show today.  It was every bit as entertaining as we thought it would be.  We got there about 11:30.  The parking lot was filled to overflowing and people were parking in the field a long way away.  The line was over 200 yds long.  We got in it and had a great time.  There were good people both in front and behind us to talk to.  We all had a good time watching people walking up and down the line trying to sell ARs for $2,000 or more.

Of course the place was packed when we got in.  Prices on most things were insane.  Everything was available, except reloading supplies.  For the most part everything cost at least twice as much as it should.  The big magazine vendor had doubled the price on everything they had, even the small capacity ones.  The vendor we bought her gun from had added at least $100 to the same guns.  There were a few vendors with normal prices, at least on some items.  I did buy a sling and a magazine for the Sig.  I actually got them at a good price because the vendor is leaving the business.

On the way home we stopped at a really good barbeque place.  They gave us so much brisket that we bought a whole bunch home.  We also brought back some trimmings for Lucy.  She was very appreciative.

Day 114

It was another warm day.  We went off to estate sales.  The first one had some nice furniture.  Unfortunately it was either too big or too small.  The only thing we bought was a dog leash.  It was new.  The tags hadn't even been removed.

The add for the second house looked weird.  It was just a private party.  They were holding it 1 to 6 on Thursday and Friday.  Of course when we got there they weren't open.  I wasn't too upset because they were on the way back from the first place.

On the way back we stopped to get a new safety sticker for the car.  It didn't take very long.  Unfortunately they put the wrong sticker on.  It took them longer to prize off the old one and put on a new one than it did to do the test.  They wanted to be able to reuse the sticker.

After that we went to Circle C.  Lucy felt like doing retrieves today.  She did quite a few of them even though it was kind of warm.  Then we went for a walk.  We didn't go a long way, but Lucy had a good time.

Thursday, January 24, 2013

Day 113

We didn't do much of anything today.  I finished painting the parts for the  model.  I may put part of it together tomorrow or I may just go to estate sales.

The rest of the day was spent surfing.  The only thing I accomplished was repairing the window shade.  I think it came out pretty good.

I tried to shoot a squirrel, by it was really wary.  It ran off as soon as I peaked around the corner.

Wednesday, January 23, 2013

Day 112

I did a lot more painting today.  I've only got one color to go now.  Ellen started painting the brick work this evening.  She got it all done.  So I'll probably start building today or tomorrow.

We went to the post office.  We really didn't need anything, but I really didn't want to go home.  So we manufactured a search for a Big Lebowski CD.  We went to Best Buy and Wally World.  Neither place had it.

So we went to Circle C.  For some reason Lucy wouldn't do any retrieves.  So we went on a walk.  We went to the other side of Escarpment for the first time.  There's several cool paths over there.  We walked all the way to the Mopac.  It would be really fun to ride the bikes there.  There's a way to go under the Mopac and keep on going.  It's too far to walk though.  We walked over three miles as it is.

I was tired when we got home.  So I took a little nap and watched TV all evening.

Tuesday, January 22, 2013

Day 111

I took the two stations that I completed to the apartment and put them on the shelf.  I looked at the kits I have and decided to build the coal depot.  I also looked at a built up water tank/control tower that I bought last year on ebay.  At the time I got it I thought it was pretty good.  Today I gave it a closer look.  Bothe buildings are put together really poorly and aren't salvageable.  Oh well.

I brought the kit back to the house and started painting.  I had all the colors I needed except one.  So when it was time to go to the post office we also went to Hobby Lobby.  After Hobby Lobby we stopped at the Chinese restaurant next door.  The food was OK and I wanted Chinese for some reason.  Of course the last stop was Circle C.  The dog did a whole bunch of retrieves.  Then we did a short walk through the park.  I didn't feel like a long walk right after eating.

We took a new way down a couple of the frisbee golf holes.  They were really neat.  Connecting two of them was this long path paved with native stones.  It must have taken a lot of work to complete.

When we got home I did some more painting.  I'll probably finish my part tomorrow.  However Ellen is going to have to do some really difficult detail work on some of the pieces.

Monday, January 21, 2013

Day 110

I spent another couple of hours working in the garage.  I fixed the work benches and hung them up.  I put up a couple of more hooks and rearranged the things I had on the wall.  With all the things rearranged the left wall had enough room to park the lawnmower and the roll around case I bought a while back.  The place looks a lot better now.  Now I need a project to mess it up.

I had bought some moly bolts yesterday that it turned out I didn't need.  I already had plenty.  So we took them back to Home Depot.  Then we stopped a Costco to renew and get some more kolaches (can't be without them).  It was 75 degrees but we found a place with shade for the dog.

We also stopped at Tomlinson's for cat litter.  Of course Lucy got her cookies.  Then we went over to Circle C.  Lucy did a good run of retrieves.  We couldn't walk because of the kolaches.  So when she was finished we went home.

My back was giving me grief since I got up.  I hurts when I get up, when I walk, when I bend over, and when I sit.  Getting old sucks.

I have to call mother tonight.  Hooch called yesterday and said she's been having pains again.  The tests show up nothing.  We both think she's just lonely and is looking for attention.

Sunday, January 20, 2013

Day 109

I went outside this morning to work on the garage.  I got a lot of things rearranged and some things put on the new shelves.  It was kind of a pain because I had to rearrange a couple of the shelves.  The end result is pretty good though.

I decided to hang up a couple of the work benches.  I bought them at a garage sale and they never had folded up very well.  I got looking at them and realized why.  Whoever had put them together had done it wrong.  Unfortunately they were put together with some weird press on nuts that are single use.  So I decided to go to McCoy's to get some replacements.

That's when I found out the McCoy's isn't open on Sundays.  The closest Home Depot was Dripping Springs, so that's where we went.  Of course they didn't have what I needed, so I bought bolts instead.  I also got some hooks.  A guy working there helped me find what I needed.  He sure made it easy to locate what I need.

There was a set of soccer fields behind HEB.  We took Lucy there and she had a good time doing retrieves.  Then we went to HEB and bought a few groceries (I needed milk and cereal).

Working in the garage has made me sore.  My back is giving me some pain.  Getting old sucks.

Saturday, January 19, 2013

Day 108

We went shooting today.  Things started out a little cool, but it warmed up to 70.  I shot the comp 1 and didn't do too well.  It shoots a little higher than the SC3.  It's also heavier.  I was shooting behind a lot of the crossers.

When we got home I called the guy that I bought the rack from.  He was finished with it so I went over to pick it up with the truck.  When I got it home I spent more than 2 hours moving stuff around to fit it in.  I still have some more work to do tomorrow.

That was pretty much the whole day.

Friday, January 18, 2013

Day 107

There were a lot of good Friday grocery sales, plus an estate sale close to us.  So we went to both.  The estate sale didn't really have a lot of good stuff, but they had some nice garage racks for cheap.  So I bought one.  Only I can't pick it up until maybe tomorrow or Sunday for sure.

There were a lot of good things on sale at the grocery.  We got over $100 of stuff for $62.  Part of it was some sandwiches, cookies, and drinks.  It was 70 degrees, so we decided to have a picnic.  We went over to Circle C by the fields where there are picnic benches.  We ate lunch and the sandwiches were good.  Lucy got a little bit of both of ours.  It was fun.

After lunch I threw the bumper for Lucy for a little while.  I didn't run her really hard because of what she had just eaten.  Then we did a walk around the park.  We really only did about half the park.  Lucy still had fun.  As we were walking back to the car we met a group of frisbee golfers. They had three dogs with them.  Lucy really hit it off with one of them.  Unfortunately the golfers were on the last hole so Lucy didn't get to play with it for a long time.

I finished the station.  Now i have to decide if I want to start another kit or not.

Thursday, January 17, 2013

Day 106

I prepped the rest of the parts for the station and started gluing the roof supports.  They have to be glued on one or two at a time.  I think I'll have them all done before the end of the day.  The instructions and the model picture don't agree.  In addition, there one less support than the molding in the roof indicates there should be.  So I'm going to do it the way I think looks best.  I also repainted the parts that didn't look good once they were glued.  I should get the whole thing done tomorrow.

We took the dog to Circle C because the day was warm - almost 70.  She had a great time.  Then we went to Home Depot so I could get a C clamp to hold the top of one of the bird feeders.  We put it on when we got home.  We'll see if it does the trick.

I also stopped at P. Terry's for a milkshake.  A while back I read an article that said they focused on burgers, fries, and shakes.  Their burger and fries are pretty good.  Their shakes not so much.  I'm not sure I would have recognized it as strawberry if it wasn't red.  Ellen said that it tasted like soft serve mixed with strawberry quick.  I think she was right.  I won't be buying another.

I finished the Killing Lincoln book.  It was great.  I read over half of it today.  I just couldn't put it down.

Wednesday, January 16, 2013

Day 105

It was warmer today.  We stayed in bed really late - until 11.

We ate breakfast and then I finished gluing the walls on the station.  The dog was trying everything she could think of to get us to go someplace.  I waited until 1 so that the traffic would die down and it would warm up.

We stopped at the post office and then took Lucy to the pet store.  We needed both types of dog food.  Of course she got a couple of cookies.  Then we went to the park.  I threw retrieves until she was tired.  The we walked all the way around the park.  Lucy had a great time running through the weeds and trees and sniffing a million places.

After the park we ate a late lunch at the bar in Circle C.  I had a Guinness.  Then it was go home and read and surf.  There wasn't anything worth watching on TV tonight, so I watched a couple of things that we'd recorded.

Tuesday, January 15, 2013

Day 104

It was cold, 35 degrees today.  It was also windy.  So we decided to just stay home.  I glued parts of the station together and surfed.  Ellen drew and surfed.  The dog got a chance to chase a deer away from the bird feeders.

All in all a really eventful day - not.

Monday, January 14, 2013

Day 103

It was warmer today - 50, but still cool.  For some reason 0 degrees today seemed colder than on a lot of other days when the temperature was about the same.

We surfed and read until 1.  I also glued the windows into my station model.  I'm really rusty at doing that sort of thing.  I also called the insurance company about the "account statement" I keep getting from the hospital.  Apparently it's just their revised amount for the MRI that the insurance denied.  They told me to ignore it.

The dog was really antsy, so we went to the post office.  Then we went to lunch at Rudy's.  I wanted to get some BBQ for lunch.  We also got some sauce and rub for Hooch.  Lucy got a few scraps when we got back to the car.

After that it was stop at Circle C.  Lucy didn't do very many retrieves.  I guess she was feeling lazy today.

The last stop was HEB.  We're supposed to have freezing fog tonight.  If we do I won't be driving anywhere tomorrow.

Day 102

It was cold and windy today, so we didn't go outside.  It was a standard stay inside Sunday.  We read the paper in the morning.  Then it was surfing and watching football.  It was a bad day from my point of view.  Both of the teams that I wanted to win lost.  Not only that, but they both lost because they screwed up.

There was really nothing more to write about.

Saturday, January 12, 2013

Day 101

We waited around in the morning for the chair to arrive.  It got here just before noon.  The delivery guys had me drive the truck up to the gate to pick it up.  They gave me a furniture blanket that we used in the pickup.

I moved the old chair into the apartment and put the old office chair in the truck.  Then we took the chair to Goodwill.  We looked for a cake dish at Goodwill, but they didn't have one.  So we went across the street to Tuesday Morning.  They had this neat crystal dish, so we bought it.  Boy is it heavy.  Washing it is quite a chore because of its weight.

We were going to eat lunch at the mexican place on 290.  We got just past 1826 and 290 was a parking lot.  So we turned around and went down 1826.  The temperature was in the low 70's and the cloud cover was beginning to go away.  I turned up Nutty Brown road and went awhile before deciding the clouds were getting too thin.  We turned around and took the dog home.  Then we took the car over to the restaurant.

The restaurant was as good as last week.  We even had the same server.  We had nachos instead of a dinners.  It was great, and there was plenty.

When we got home it was surf time.  The football games started in the afternoon and I'm watching them right now.

Friday, January 11, 2013

Day 100

We didn't do much today.  We read and surfed the morning away.  After lunch we went to the grocery store.  We needed several things.  We stopped a Circle C on the way home.  Lucy did an amazing number of retrieves.  I think the Zukies I gave her last night did some good.  I decided not to go to any estate sales.  I just didn't feel like it.

It was in the 70's today.  That's a fine temperature for the 11 of January if you ask me.

More reading and surfing when we got home.  We left at 6:15 to go to wrestling.  I35 was jammed (surprise, surprise).  So we went up Mopac and cut across on Enfield.  That's a street we'd never been in before.  We took a back way to the parking garage and had no traffic problems at all.  At the garage they told us to go to the cashier's office.  There they took my parking confirmation sheet and gave me this magnetic card.  The lady told us to use it to leave and to call if there was any problem.  The garage was several blocks away from the arena, so we had a walk after we parked.  We still got to our seats in plenty of time.

The wrestling was interesting.  Some of the moves those guys made were pretty impressive.  Some of them were very big dudes.  They were upwards of 250 pounds with no fat on them.  A couple weighed around 350.  They had bellies, but not big ones.

The matches were clearly scripted, and the script didn't change.  There was a good guy and a bad guy.  The good guy gets beat up for most of the match, but always comes back and wins in the end.  There was one match where the bad guy was a "world champion".  In that match the bad guy won.

The crowd was weird.  They kept cheering like the outcome of the matches wasn't determined ahead of time.  When a bad guy was hurt they cheered, even though it was obvious he wasn't really hurt.  When a good guy was down, they cheered even though it was obvious he would win in the end.  It sort of explains how Obama got elected.

Afterwards when we got back to the garage the card the cashier showed me didn't work.  From what she said before I kind of think she knew it wouldn't.  We had to call a phone number to make sure we could leave without getting fined.  They said it would be OK.  Of course there were several pissed off people lined up behind us while we did this.  I hope I don't end up with a nasty letter from the parking people.

All in all we had a good time.

Day 99

The day was warm, so it was declared a doggy day.  I finished up painting the station model while Ellen did some drawing.  We waited until after noon and then ventured into Deepest Austin.  The place we need to go tomorrow is on the UT campus.  Parking for the place is in a parking garage three or four blocks away.  Since we've never been in that area I wanted to see the place in the daylight before we went there tomorrow.

Of course we got caught in traffic on I35.  It was a fairly minor pain in the ass though.  Finding the event place was easy.  Finding the parking garage was a little harder.  I did purchase a parking permit for the place online today (ain't the internet wonderful?).  That should make things go a little easier tomorrow.

We drove directly through downtown Austin to get to Zilker from the campus.  There was probably an easier way, but I didn't feel like dealing with driving directions like "go to X street" or "you should have turned back there".  So I just winged it based on "go west until you're past the campus and turn south until you get to the river".  It turned out OK.  We ended up right at the bridge where Lucy swims.  There was even a parking place. Lucy sure has parking karma.

There were a lot of dogs at Zilker.  Lucy didn't do much socializing, but she sure did a lot of swimming.  She swam until she was barely dragging her ass out of the water.  So I quit, but she immediately started barking to do more.  So I threw her a whole bunch of wind aided land retrieves to dry her out.  She finally decided she'd had enough.

It was Thursday, so we went to Sandy's for their special.  Lucy got a few small bites of hamburger and some french fries.  On the way home we stopped at Harbor Freight to pick up some foot mats that I had a coupon for.

After we got home, Ellen watched TV and I surfed the evening away.

Wednesday, January 9, 2013

Day 98

It rained hard at times last night and was still raining a little bit this morning.  It stopped after a couple of hours.  Ellen finished painting the gondola that I wanted to use with the crane.  Then the two of them went in one of the display cases.  After that I cleaned up where she had been painting.  I also put her sewing machine away.  It had been on the table since she finished sewing before Christmas.

I'd been surfing, but I decided I've been wasting way too much time doing that.  It was too cold to go out to the garage to work.  So I got a train station kit out and started it.  I got about half the painting done before I got tired of painting and quit.  I'll take it up again later.

Ellen started some sort of drawing thing.  It's big and looks like it's going to some time to complete.

That's all we did today.

Tuesday, January 8, 2013

Day 97

Ellen spent most of the morning and early afternoon painting.  She touched up the crane.  It looks nice.  Then she started on the pre-built station I bought.  I went through my paint stash and found bottles that 1) were appropriate colors and 2) weren't dried up.  I managed to find stuff to use except for white.  In the process I found 3 or 4 dead ones.  I'm still impressed by the shelf life of this stuff.

Ellen got most of the building painted by our late lunch.  Then we went out to get the white paint and mail.  We also stopped at the yuppie HEB for some ingredients for a couple of dinners.  It had been raining all night and all of today.  People were driving really slow on Mopac.

When we got home Ellen continued painting.  I surfed.

Monday, January 7, 2013

Day 96

We didn't do a whole lot today.  I finished up the crane I got for Christmas.  I think Ellen will do a little paint touchup before we call it complete.

By 1 Lucy was climbing the walls.  It was almost 60 with a little breeze, so we took her to Circle C.  She did a whole lot of retrieves - the energizer bunny.  When she pooped out we walked around the park.  Lucy had a great time exploring as we walked.  The sun came out so it was pretty pleasant.

When we got back I cleaned up the storage box we got on Saturday with some 409.  Then I put all the Christmas stuff in it.

That was it for the day.  Lucy got a Zuke filled Kong tonight and she's a tired doggy.  That's good because it's supposed to rain cats and dogs tomorrow.

Sunday, January 6, 2013

Day 95

We got up relatively early today.  I'm not sure why, it just seemed right.  There was a squirrel raiding the bird feeder, so I took out the pellet gun to deal with it.  I hit it with the first shot, but didn't kill it.  It ran around in circles, so I shot it again.  It still ran in circles.  I shot it the third time and it lay down, but was still alive.  I had to shoot it twice in the head to kill it.  I feel really bad about this.  All my other shots were clean kills.  This is the first with the new gun.  I wonder if it's less powerful than the old one.

I put the new hand guard on.  It wasn't too difficult, but it was definitely a two person operation.  The new one is a big improvement over the old one.  I also ordered a build kit for the second lower.  Things look bleak on that front.

It was warmer today, sunny and not a cloud in the sky.  So we took Lucy to Circle C.  We walked all the way around the park.  I didn't run Lucy first.  She had a great time running through the trees and bushes.  At one time she was running through the bushes and we heard her yelp.  There didn't seem to be anything wrong though.

When we got to the far soccer fields there was a practice game going on.  We stopped and watched for awhile.  I was impressed.  There was one guy out there playing defense that was as fat as me.

When we were finished walking I had Lucy do some retrieves.  She did a fair amount given she had already explored the park.

On the way home we stopped at Costco for drugs and drinks.  It was very crowded.  All of the lines were open and there were a lot of tired looking sales clerks.

When we got home it was time to watch football.  The Seahawks won.  We noticed that Lucy had a big scratch under her back leg.  I guess that's why she yelped.  She also was a little fragrant.  So she got a bath tonight.

Saturday, January 5, 2013

Day 94

We went to 2 estate sales today.  The first had a neat workbench, but I just couldn't figure out where I would put it.  At the other one I picked up three books for Dan and a plastic bin for holding Christmas stuff - $1.  On the way back we stopped at the Mexican place on 290.  It was really nice.  They were serving brunch, so I had breakfast while Ellen had lunch.  If we hadn't ordered drinks, it would have been under $20.  I'm going to have to go back there.  They have Guinness.

The dog had a disappointing trip.  We thought it was just too muddy to run her.

The part was at the post office, so when we got home I installed it in the hand guard.  The last step is to put on the hand guard.  I'll probably do that tomorrow.  I also fixed the clothes bar in the cat room.  It needed some extra bracing to stand up to the weight of wet sweatshirts.  I really overbuilt it.  There won't be any problems with it again.

The chairs came about 6.  One of them was fine.  The other was soaking wet.  I guess their truck had a leak or something from yesterday's rain.  Anyway we ended up with only one chair.  They're supposed to deliver another one next Sat.

The NFL is on tonight.  Houston won and the Packers are winning.

Friday, January 4, 2013

Day 93

It was another cold day (40 was the high), and it was raining.  Just like home.  It actually rained fairly steadily for most of the day.  It's still raining right now.  We almost stayed home for the whole day.  However, Ellen got cabin fever and I agreed.  The excuse we needed was that I forgot to buy cereal yesterday.

So we stopped at HEB and the post office.  The dog was really disappointed.  I think she wanted to run in the cold rain.  At least she thought she did.  She might have changed her mind once she was doing it.

We read, surfed, and watched TV (sometime more then one thing at a time) for the rest of the day.

Thursday, January 3, 2013

Day 92

Its cold today and it supposed to be cold for a few more days.  So we mainly stayed inside.  I started assembling the crane kit that Ellen painted.  It's kind of a pain in the ass.  You have to glue one part, let it dry, and then glue the next one.  I've got it about half done now.

I also hung up the dog coat hanger that Patsy gave us.  I decided to put it on the existing coat hanger in the cat room.  I just didn't want coats hanging up in the entryway.  It looks pretty good there.  Doing that required several round trips to the garage.  Did I mention that it was cold today?

We did got out to the grocery store.  That was more for cabin fever than anything else.  We got a few things and stopped on the way home at Circle C.  Lucy was entirely different than yesterday.  She did a whole lot of retrieves.

When we got home there were two deer beside the driveway on the way in.  There was another by the kid house and another in the back yard.  When we let Lucy out she chased them away.  She even went into the bushes a little bit to root them out.  About 15 minutes later two of them were back just outside the back fence.  I guess they really like that bird seed.

Day 91

We didn't do a whole lot today.  It was time to drive the truck, so I loaded up the broken chair and took it to Goodwill.  I made up a little list of errands to do and we went off to do them.

Ellen needed battery packs for the Wii.  We went to Target and Wally World.  Neither one had battery packs.  We went to Best Buy.  They had battery packs for $11 apiece.  Charger with 2 battery packs were $20.  Go figure.  So we bought a new charger.

We went to the grocery store and also got some more model paint.  The old yellow that was with my paints just didn't work well.

When we got home I didn't do anything.  Ellen tried out the new paint.  It worked a lot better than the old paint.

Day 90

Three months since we left and the first day of the year.  Notice I didn't say "since we left home".  Salem/Oregon doesn't feel like home any more.  I guess Texas does, but I'm not for sure.

This is a Tuesday, so the garbage had to go out and the laundry needed to be done.  We also put away the Christmas tree and the lights.  Everything just fit in the box that we've been using.  It was a tight fit.

I decided to install a red dot sight today.  It came with a couple of pleasant surprises.  First, it didn't need a riser.  It was designed to be the right height.  I looked the sight up on the internet and they sell for about $200.  I know I got it at the Shot Show and I couldn't have paid more than $50.  I was thinking that it was just a cheap Chinese thing.  Instead it was made in Japan and has a decent reputation on the internet.  Time will tell.

The rest of the day was watching football.
