The day was warm, so it was declared a doggy day. I finished up painting the station model while Ellen did some drawing. We waited until after noon and then ventured into Deepest Austin. The place we need to go tomorrow is on the UT campus. Parking for the place is in a parking garage three or four blocks away. Since we've never been in that area I wanted to see the place in the daylight before we went there tomorrow.
Of course we got caught in traffic on I35. It was a fairly minor pain in the ass though. Finding the event place was easy. Finding the parking garage was a little harder. I did purchase a parking permit for the place online today (ain't the internet wonderful?). That should make things go a little easier tomorrow.
We drove directly through downtown Austin to get to Zilker from the campus. There was probably an easier way, but I didn't feel like dealing with driving directions like "go to X street" or "you should have turned back there". So I just winged it based on "go west until you're past the campus and turn south until you get to the river". It turned out OK. We ended up right at the bridge where Lucy swims. There was even a parking place. Lucy sure has parking karma.
There were a lot of dogs at Zilker. Lucy didn't do much socializing, but she sure did a lot of swimming. She swam until she was barely dragging her ass out of the water. So I quit, but she immediately started barking to do more. So I threw her a whole bunch of wind aided land retrieves to dry her out. She finally decided she'd had enough.
It was Thursday, so we went to Sandy's for their special. Lucy got a few small bites of hamburger and some french fries. On the way home we stopped at Harbor Freight to pick up some foot mats that I had a coupon for.
After we got home, Ellen watched TV and I surfed the evening away.
