Day 1127

We woke up about 9, but didn't get out of bed until 10.  Then it was pet stuff, breakfast, and surfing.  The only thing of note was Hooch texted me to say that Amazon had notified him that they delivered a package to us.  It was good they did.  it was big and the delivery guy had left it outside the fence.  He almost put a "steal me" sign on it.  The package weighed 44 pounds and I had to get the handcart to tote it to the house.

I had to get some bananas and milk, so we went out a little before noon.  We stopped at the post office.  Then we went to lunch at Pei Wei.  It was good.  The last stop was the yuppie grocery store.  We bought some steaks to put on the Traeger.  Then it was home.

We didn't gt home until after 4.  I surfed for awhile and then took the dog to the mailbox.  Dinner was sloppy joes.

After dinner I watched some TV, and then a movie.  The movie wasn't over until almost midnight.  Ellen said there was a thunderstorm coming with quarter sized hail.  So I put the car in the garage.  Of course that means it will miss us.

Day 1126

It was another "I don't want to get out of bed" morning.  We woke up about 8 and stayed in bed until 9.  After that it was pet stuff, breakfast, and surfing.

There were two estate sales close to us and Ellen's guns were finished.  Also, the weather was great - sunny and warm.  So about 10:30 we went to the first sale at Nutty Brown Road and 1826.  We ended up buying a Coca Cola bear and a post office box bank.  We're going to have to figure out how to open it.  The second sale had a lot of stuff, but nothing I wanted.

We stopped at the stock maker and picked up Ellen's guns.  We also got stocks for a couple of pistols.  We also talked to the stock maker for quite awhile.  We went to the post office after lunch at Sonic, and then home.

I went out to the garage and moved the engine hoist to the back building.  It was a lot of work.  I barel made it using the garden cart.  When I was finished I was tired and soaked in sweat.

Ellen left for Hog Heaven before I was done.  I took a shower.  Then I surfed until dinner.  Dinner was a sandwich from the Cajun place yesterday.  Then I watched football and read.  The Cowboys won again.  Crap.

No word today about the truck.  I'll have to call them tomorrow.

Day 1125

I woke up about 7:30, turned over, and woke up again at 9.  We stayed in bed awhile playing with the cat.  The dog got up to go out twice last night.  We think she's still not feeling well.  She even got up on the bed without being invited.

After pet stuff and breakfast we did a little surfing.  Then it was off to buy replacements for the stuff Lucy destroyed yesterday.  The first stop was the post office.  Then next was Target for a comforter.  Ellen didn't like what they had, so we went to Kohl's and bought one there.  They didn't have covers, so it was over to Bed, Bath, and Beyond where we bought a cover and a new dog bed.  We made short stops at Hoe Depot and Lowe's so I could look for shelving.  The last stop was the Cajun place for lunch.

While we were out the Chevy place called.  Their mechanic can't figure out what's wrong.  He wanted to run a $650 test on the injectors.  I said OK.  That, along with cleaning the injectors, will bring the bill to over $1,000 with no end in sight.  I'm not a happy camper.

When we got home I went out to the garage.  I repacked all of the gun parts that were in the cardboard box in a plastic box.  Then I put together the new drill press.  There was a short break while the mattress guys delivered the new mattress.  There are two disappointments with the new press.  First, it's too tall to fit on any of the shelves.  Second, the laser marker doesn't work.  I'll have to rearrange some stuff in the garage to make a place to put it.

When the assembly was done I collected all of the garbage from our purchases and took them to the can.  Then I put the can outside for pickup.  It's really full.  The Traeger grill cover came, so I put it on the grill.  It looks good.

That was it for the day.  Dinner was fish burgers.  After dinner was surfing and TV.  I watched part of a Tarheel's game.  They were getting killed, so I turned it off.

Day 1124

We got up at 7:30 today, did the pet stuff and had breakfast.  Then we left to take the truck to the dealership.  Traffic on loop 1 was backed up for a mile at Lacrosse.  Then it was realtively speedy until William Cannon.  It was stop and go from there until we got on 290.  With all that we were still 15 minutes early.

The service writer noticed that one of the front tires was coming apart and that the truck needed an alignment.  That, along with the $150 "diagnostic fee" means that we're into the repair for $500 before they've even looked at it.  The writer said their diesel guy was overbooked and he'd call in the afternoon.

It was about 9:15.  We had some time to kill and went to the donut place on Brodie.  We left Lucy at home so we got her a bacon donut.  Then we dove to Barton Creek Mall for our yearly visit.  We got there a minute after they opened.

We stopped at Sears first.  They were having a going out of business sale.  I bought a drill press, a shovel, and some screwdrivers.  We also got Mom some clothes for Christmas.  Then we spent hours walking through the mall.  We bought a birthday present for Melissa and some cosmetics for Ellen.  We had lunch at California Pizza and didn't leave the mall until after 2.

We stopped at the post office on the way home.  We came home to a disaster.  We'd tied Lucy to the bed.  Big mistake.  She shit all over the floor and cowhide.  She also destroyed her bed, our comforter, and the comforter cover.  She even shit on and tore up her pink bed.  The bedroom floor was covered with down and dog bed stuffing.  It took both of us over an hour to clean up the mess.  I had to throw out the dog bed and the comforter.

Ellen went to Hog Heaven while I finished the cleanup.  Then I surfed and finished the wash.  When Ellen got home she fixed Lucy some rice and turkey.  She saved the pink bed by restoring the stuffing and sewing it up.  Then it got a bath.

Dinner was a frozen Ramen bowl.  After dinner was TV and surfing.  The mattress people called and said they'd deliver the mattress after 4 tomorrow.  That will give us plenty of time to replace the stuff Lucy destroyed.

Day 1123

We woke up about 8:15 and got up about 9:15.  I really didn't want to get out of bed, it was really comfortable.  We did get up and have breakfast.

I had three phone calls to make this morning.  The first was to the Chevy dealer to get the truck fixed.  They are taking it tomorrow morning.  The second was to EyeMed to cancel their coverage for next year.  They emailed a form I have to sign and send back.  The third was to Dan to find out what to do with the Bronco.  He's got it parked in the carport of one of his friends.

After the calls were over I did a little surfing.  Then we went to the post office to mail the Christmas presents.  It cost $50 to mail them both.  There was a fair number of people there.  The guy at the desk said this is the first heavy pre-Christmas day they've had.

After that we went looking for a new bed for the apartment.  After looking at three places we bought one.  We also stopped at a pet store so Lucy could get a cookie.  There were stops at Home Depot and Lowe's looking for a new shade for the fan in the living room.  No luck.  It looks like we need a new light kit.

We walked around Academy just because we hadn't been there.  There wasn't anything there we wanted.

We ran Lucy at Lowe's.  She did about 4 retrieves and then came up lame.  She was limping badly with her back left leg obviously giving her pain.

We stopped at Kerby's for a rally late (2:00) lunch.  It was OK, but nothing special.  Then it was a stop at the gas station and home.

When we got home I looked up fan light kits.  Amazon has them.  Then I spent the rest of the afternoon surfing.

I walked to the mailbox alone.  I sent Lucy back when we got to the gate.  She was limping too badly.

Dinner was leftover pizza.  The evening was football.

Day 1122

We woke up about 8, but didn't get out of bed until 9.  Then it was pet stuff and breakfast.  After a little bit of surfing I went out to see about sealing the fan in the trailer.

I spent some time investigating the "daylight" counting through the fan.  I think it's really light coming through the cover and reflecting on the outer housing of the fan.  There's a gap in places between the inner and outer housings.  There has to be, or the fan can't be installed.  I came to the conclusion that the leak is probably user error.  I don't think I've been closing the cover hard enough.  While the back fan closes completely with little effort, you really have to reef on the front fan.  We'll see next time it rains.

I didn't really have anything else to do.  So I went back inside and surfed for awhile.  About lunch time we went to Circle C to run the dog.  We ended up walking over to the garbage cans and back.  Lucy got both retrieves and unstructured time in.

We stopped at HEB to get some bananas.  We ended up with a whole sack of groceries.  That's par for the course.

Whn we got home it was a lot more surfing and some football.  I ended up watching, or at least listening to, two games.

Dinner was frozen pizza.

After dinner was more surfing and football.

Day 1121

I woke up at 7:15, turned over, and went back to sleep until 8:15.  After a little surfing we got up, did pet stuff, and had breakfast.

BTW, WSU managed to completely fuck up their game with Washington. I think they lost by more than 20 points.  That's even though they were ranked 8th and Washington was ranked 18th.  They totally blew their chances for a bowl game.  As usual, they suck.

The big job for the day was wrapping the Christmas presents and putting them in boxes for shipping.  We'll wait until Monday to ship them.  While doing that I discovered that one of the packages on the bed was my sack of convention stuff, including the trigger I was missing.  I was really glad to find it.  There were a couple of other items that I'd forgotten I'd purchased, too.  Sort of an early Christmas.

The rest of the mid day was a bunch of small jobs.  I took the silverware drawer out to the trailer.  I brought back the last of the stuff that needed to be taken out of the trailer.  I put that stuff away.  Then we had lunch - turkey leftovers.

After lunch there was a little surfing followed by dogacure.  Lucy really didn't want to participate.  She needed it though.  Her nails were so long that they wouldn't fit in the clippers.  Ellen didn't have the hand strength, so I did the clipping.  Once I got the hang of it things went well, except for one that bled when I cut it too short.  Ellen finished them up with the Dremel.

I've been having a hard time connecting with Lee about getting him the old Traeger.  I decided to haul it over there by hand.  It was a little bit of work, and really loud.  I left it just inside their gate.  I don't think they were at home.  Their dog was not happy with me.  He barked all the time it took me to walk back to the house.  For all I know he's still barking.

The rest of the time until dinner was surfing.  I wanted to go out for dinner, so we went to Longhorn.  It was good as usual.  After dinner we went to a pet store.  We bought the dog a treat and the cat a couple of toys.  The dog loved the treats and the cat is having a great time with the new toys.

The rest of the evening was TV and surfing.

Friday, November 23, 2018

Day 1120

We got up about 8 today.  There wasn't anything special to do, we just had enough sleeping.  After pet stuff and breakfast it was some Black Friday surfing.  I didn't buy anything.  I also scrubbed the Traeger grill and closed it up until next time.  Ellen cleaned the ice chest she used to brine the turkey.

Eventually we left.  We went to the post office and then to Best Buy.  There wasn't anything there either of us wanted.  By the time we were done it was the mid 70's - too hot to leave the dog in the car.  We decided to make a short stop at HEB and go home.

While Ellen was at HEB I called Costco.  They said "your hearing aids just came in".  Yeah.  We decided to take Lucy to Tomlinson's because she wouldn't be running.  They spoiled her.  After that we stopped at the bank to cash a check, and then Torchy's for lunch.  They have a nice outdoor area so Lucy could be with us.  The food was pretty good.

We went back and got my hearing aids.  We also got water and stamps, which I've been meaning to get for awhile.

Finally it was time to go home.  I took Lucy to the back so she could run.  I was going there anyway to put away the ice chest.  Fortunately the goatheads haven't made it to there.  She ran for awhile, but it was a little warm.

After a little more surfing it was time to go to the mailbox.  After that dinner was, wait for it, left over turkey.

WSU vs Washington is playing right now.  It's the second half and WSU is fucking up.  Surprise, surprise.

Day 1119

Ellen woke me up about 5:45 when she went to the can.  I couldn't get back to sleep.  I must have laid there for half an hour or more.  I finally did get back to sleep and woke up about 7:45.  After a little time playing with the cat and dog we got up.  We did the pet stuff and had breakfast.

After breakfast it was time to get ready for Isaac and company.  I cleaned up the kitchen and cleared off the kitchen table.  Then I scrubbed it down.  I rearranged the futon.  While I was doing that Ellen was cooking.  As she made messes I would clean them up.

I turned on football when it started (there were three days).  I listened and surfed while Ellen worked.  I bought some parts at Black Friday prices.  Ellen put the turkey in the Traeger and I loaded it up.  Then we both surfed while it cooked.  We ate leftovers for lunch.

Ellen told Isaac that we'd eat at 4, so that's when they showed up.  Ellen had everything ready when they got here.  We had a really nice dinner - turkey, salad, mashed potatoes, cranberries, asparagus, sweet potatoes, and rolls with pie for dessert.  It was all really good.

Dallas was playing when they showed up.  Isaac's girlfriend is a Cowboy fan.  They won.  Usually that would disappoint me, but I'm glad she was happy.

We watched the end of that game and a little TV of their choosing.  They left about 8.

We spent the rest of the evening watching football and surfing.

All in all it was a good Thanksgiving.

Day 1118

We got up at 8 today - we had a lot of errands to do.  After pet stuff and breakfast we left for Cabela's.  They had a $100 off gujns today, and I thought they might have a P365.  Fat chance.  Ellen did get a nice shirt though.

We called a Traeger dealer in Dripping Springs.  They had both the turkey cooking kit and the drip pans we needed.  It was amazing getting both of them locally the day before Thanksgiving.  Someone came in and bought the last kit while we were paying for ours.

The next stop was the stock maker to give him a check.  He's certainly a nice guy.

The dog was smelling very doggish, so we took her to the dog wash.  She wasn't happy, but the rice bone made up for it.  Then we went to lunch at the Cajun place.  We also stopped at Randall's.  Apparently the country's supply of Romaine lettuce is contaminated.  So we threw away what we'd bought and replaced it with iceberg.  We also got some hamburgers to try out the Traeger.  After that it was home.

It wasn't even 2 when we got home.  I went out and cut up all of the cardboard from the Traeger.  Once it was cut it all fit in the recycle.  Then I hauled the pallet out to the trash heap.  It was heavy and I had to stop several times to rest on the way.

There was still a lot of time left in the afternoon, so I went to the garage and finished up assembling the silverware divider.  I figured out how to clamp it for assembly.  I also figured out why some nails were going crooked.  I was tilting the nailer up a little.  everything went fine once I stopped doing that.  Then I put everything away.  The final effort was touching up the paint on the silverware divider.  I should be able to install it tomorrow.

After that it was surfing.  Dinner was Traegerized hamburgers.  They were great, and the Traeger worked perfectly.

I started a movie after dinner, but ended up getting bored with it and surfed instead.

Day 1117

I had to get up at 5:45 to let the dog out.  Of course I went back to sleep and woke up at 7:45 to go out and open the gate.  Then it was back in bed before getting up for good a little before 9.  Then it was pet stuff and breakfast.

After breakfast I couldn't do anything.  I had to sit in the house and wait for the phone to ring.  So of course I surfed.  Ellen went to the doctor for her thyroid biopsy.  The phone range about 11:30 and the Traeger showed up a little after 12.  They guy was nice enough to put it on the back porch for me.  There's no way I could have moved it myself.

Unpacking the thing took quite awhile.  Then I started assembling it.  That went OK until I had to stand it up on it's legs.  There was no way I could do it, it was too heavy.  Luckily Ellen had gotten back by then and we both barely got it upright.  My back hurt for the rest of the day.

I was done with the cleanup except for cutting up the cardboard and getting rid of the pallet by 3:00.  Then we took Ellen's guns to the stock maker.  He's up on 290 just past McCoy's.  He has a wonderful shop full of wood blanks.  He does his work with laser scanners and CNC machines.  It's 21st century way of doing gun stocks.  He's going to repair the one stock and modify the other.  We have to go back tomorrow and give him a check for a deposit.

It was 5 by then and we went to the BBQ place in Belterra.  It was OK, but we had sandwiches rather than BBQ.  Then we went home to feed some hungry pets.

After dinner was some surfing and watching a movie.

Monday, November 19, 2018

Day 1116

We woke up about 8:15 and got up about 9:15.  After that we left for Dripping Springs to get the trailer license.  I didn't know the day was going to suck.

It turns out that the dumbshits at the inspection place screwed up.  They didn't give me a hard copy of the report, and didn't send it to the state.  So the state wouldn't give us a license.  We had to drive to Fredericksburg to get it straightened out.  They were nice about it though.  It kind of blew the day.  We weren't back home until 2.  We'd taken the truck, so the trip cost at least $30 in fuel.

Oh, and by the way when we were in Fredericksburg the truck stumbled and the "replace fuel filter" message came up.  I went to the Chevy place to get it checked.  They weren't friendly and said "leave it, maybe we'll get to it this evening, or maybe next week".  That made for a worrisome trip back home.  The truck ran fine all of the way though.  I will get it looked at.

We stopped at Belterra on the way home.  We were going to eat at Pieous, but they closed at 2.  The place next door wasn't open on Monday.  So we went home.  Did I mention today sucked?

After lunch I went out and replaced the tarp on the truck shelter.  That at least went well.  Then I went to the garage to continue the silverware drawer effort.  That started out well with the shorter nails working well.  I got about half of the boards attached when I ran into a big problem.  The clamps I have were too big to allow me to position the other boards to be nailed together.  I struggled with one, and then decided to bag it until tomorrow.  It was 4:30 and I was tired of problems.

I took the dog to the mailbox at 5.  I met Lee on the way back and we had a good conversation.  Lucy almost starved waiting for us.

Dinner was leftover meatloaf.  After dinner was football.

Sunday, November 18, 2018

Day 1115

I stayed up late surfing last night, so I didn't get out of bed until 9:15.  Then it was pet stuff and breakfast.  After breakfast it was out to do errands.  We took some stuff to Goodwill and stopped at the post office.  Then we went to Harbor Freight to get a tarp to replace the one on the truck shelter.  The sale on them ended today.

The next stop was Home Depot.  I bought some shorter nails for putting the silverware drawer together.  I also bought some stuff to clean and seal the master shower.  The sealer was really expensive - $25 a bottle.  The last stop was the Thai place by Randall's.  We decided to give it another chance.  It's OK, but nothing special.

It was cold when we got home, so I decided not to replace the tarp.  Instead I spent the whole afternoon watching football.  Ellen fixed meat loaf for dinner.  It was good.  After dinner was some MMA followed by more football.

Saturday, November 17, 2018

Day 1114

We got up at 8:15, did the pet stuff, and went to HEB.  We wanted to get the rest of the Thanksgiving shopping done before the hordes showed up.  It worked, there weren't a lot of people there.

When we were finished we went to the Ice House for breakfast.  Then it was back home.

I went out to the garage to build the silverware drawer for the small trailer.  I decided to finish up the parts inventory first.  That took until noon.  It's nice to have it finished, everything put away, and the benches cleared so I could work.

I got out the chop saw and measured out the pieces I needed.  While measuring everything I decided to change the design some.  That's because I brought in the drawer from the trailer and got to see how everything would fit together.  The saw did a great job of cutting.  All of the pieces fit perfectly.

I went into lunch.  Ellen went off to a lessen with Gebben.  I had her take all three of her guns.  I went back out to use the nail gun to fasten the pieces together.  That did not go well.  The 2 inch nails are too long and won't go in straight.  After several attempts I gave up.  I'll have to get smaller ones tomorrow.

After that failure I got out the stuff in the trailer that I wanted to put in the truck.  I put it in the truck and also noticed that one of the ratchet tie downs was damaged.  So I replaced it.  Then I went in and surfed until dinner.

I had a TV dinner for dinner.  When Ellen came home she said Gebben had suggested small changes for all of the guns.  Apparently the local guy can do them.  He should be able to fixed the cracked stock, also.

After dinner was TV, some shows I'd taped and a MMA show.

Friday, November 16, 2018

Day 1113

I'm not sure when we woke up, but we were out of bed a little after 9.  Then it was pet stuff and breakfast.  After that I went out to fix the string mower.  A shipping company called and told me that they'd deliver the Traeger "sometime between 8 and 5 on Tuesday".  They won't even give me an estimate of when.  That means Ellen will probably have to go to the doctor by herself.

The thread on one of the height adjustment bolts was damaged when the wingnut broke apart.  I tried to clean them up by running a nut over them.  No luck, mainly because the cheap plastic Chinese housing wouldn't secure the bolt.  I ended up putting a bunch of washers on the bolt to space out the new nut to good threads.  I must have spent almost an hour screwing with it.

Then I got out the string trimmer.  When I hooked it up it wouldn't work.  The strain relief on it had busted years ago, so I suspected that.  I took it back to the garage.  It turned out one of the power wires had broken, and the other was almost broken.  I reconnected the wires and used a small hose clamp to fix the strain relief.  That was another half hour shot.  Once it was fixed it only took about 20 minutes to finish the trimming.  It feels really good to have the yard done.

The next task was the trailer roof.  I got out the ladder and Ellen held it while I climbed up.  The caulking around the fan was cracked, but I didn't see any real problems.  I redid all of it.  I also had Ellen go inside and raise the cover.  There wasn't anything obvious their either.  Then she said she could see light around the fan.  I had her tell me where, and I tried to seal it.  For some reason she lost the ability to tell left from right, so she had me sealing the wrong side.  I ran out of sealant before I could do the correct side.

I couldn't do any more on the trailer, so I backed the truck out and went to work on the areas of the roof where the paint was cracking.  I spray painted them with touchup paint.

That finishes all of the stuff that needed to be done when we got back.  I met my goal of being done before Thanksgiving even with the weather delays.

We went to a late lunch at Fireman's, chiefly so we could get another pickle bucket.  We also stopped at the pet store next door to get a doggy treat and look for Pooh rat for Devin.

The next stop was HEB.  We bought some stuff we needed immediately and a lot of stuff for Thanksgiving.  We'll finish the shopping tomorrow morning when Ellen figures out the rest of what she needs.

The last stop was Tomlinson's.  They didn't have a Pooh rat.

When we got home I surfed for a little while and then took the dog to the mailbox.  When I got back I went to the trailer and looked at the fan.  You can see light all around it, including the areas I sealed.  I'm really confused.

Dinner was leftover pizza.  After dinner Ellen watched hospital soap operas while I put together the bluetooth Lego batmobile we bought last week.  It's ready for her to connect to and control.  The rest of the evening was watching Gold Dust.

Thursday, November 15, 2018

Day 1112

I'm not sure when we woke up, but we didn't get out of bed until 10.  After pet stuff and breakfast I went out to finish the mowing.  I started by mowing the back yard.

After the back yard was done it was time to get the string mower started.  I used the starting fluid I bought a few days ago.  The first two times I used it the engine burned the fluid and then stopped.  The third time it started.  I think the first two times it was working bad gas out of the system.  After that it worked perfectly.

It took about 2 hours to do all of the edging.  I don't think it was any easier than using the string trimmer.  It's faster though.  Also, my back wasn't killing me when I was done.  I was tired though.

When I was finished I put Stabil in both the mower and string mower.  I don't want to have to deal with sour gas ever again.

I got done about 1.  I went inside and had lunch.  Then we left to do errands.  We stopped at the post office.  Then it was Home Depot and Lowe's to get a wing nut to replace one I broke on the string mower.  Neither of them had one.  The next stop was Randall's for more lunch meat and a pizza for dinner.  The last stop was Goodwill to get rid of all of the things that Isaac didn't want.

We got home ust in time for Ellen to go to Hog Heaven.  She picked up a wing nut for me at ACE on the way home.

Dinner was pizza.  After dinner was football and reading.

Day 1111

We got up at 7:30, but didn't get out of bed until after 9.  It was another cold morning - too cold to work outside.  After breakfast and pet stuff it was surfing.  About 11 it was warm enough (50) to do something outside.

I went out to the garage and installed the mower battery.  Then I started it.  It started almost at once with the new battery.  I started mowing - first the section by the trailer, then the section by the well house, then the driveway, then the back 40, and finally the section by the truck.  By then it was 12:30 and time to go to lunch with Isaac.

We met them at the restaurant - a Vietnamese place at Willim Cannon and Brodie.  It was pretty good, but cold - their heat wasn't working.  They insisted on buying.  His girlfriend seems nice, but she was pretty quiet.  I would probably be, too in that situation.

After lunch we went to our place.  We showed them all of the stuff we'd put aside for them.  They wanted about half of it.  The other stuff just wouldn't bring enough money for them to spend time on.  We also went out to the apartment and loaded up all of the stuff they'd left.  I managed to get them to take the subwoofer, once they found ot how much it was worth.  Their van was pretty full when they left about 3:30.

After they left I gathered up all of the stuff they hadn't wanted and put it in the Audi.  We'll take it to Goodwill tomorrow.  Then I went out and got back on the mower.  I mowed until 5 and finished everything except the back yard.  Of course there's still the edging to do, also.

I took the dog to the mailbox and then we had dinner - frozen food.  After that I searched for Bronco parts on the web.  Ellen watched fantasy TV.

Tuesday, November 13, 2018

Day 1110

We woke up at 8 today, but didn't get out of bed until 10.  It was cold again this morning and we just didn't feel like getting up.  When we did it was pet stuff and breakfast.  Then I loaded up all of the stuff for Goodwill and we left for rrands

The first stop was tomlinson's for dog food.  Of course Lucy got a treat.  Then it was Randall's for a couple of things.  A quick stop at Goodwill next door got rid of the junk.  Then we went to Lowe's to return the drill I bought a couple of days ago.  I decided to buy a battery for the old one instead.

We stopped at Best Buy to check a coupon we got in the mail.  It was only worth $5, and we used it to buy a radio controlled Lego car.  We stopped at the coffee place in the parking lot ecause it was cold.  They make great coffee.  Then it was the post office.

The last stop was to pick up the car at Audi.  Then we went home for a late lunch.  After lunch I went out and finished the painting.  I also did some more parts inventory sorting.  I'm over half done now.

Ellen went to coach the kids at Hog Heaven about the time I was finished.  I went in, did a little surfing, and then had dinner.  It was leftover night - sausage and pulled beef.

After dinner was a couple of movies - one on Netflix and one on Amazon.  The Netflix movie was one they made themselves.  It was as good as anything you'll see in a theater.

Day 1109

We woke up at 8, but didn't get up until way after 9.  It was 40 degrees and raining out.  When we did get up it was pet stuff, breakfast, and a little surfing.  We were a little worried about Devin.  He got locked in the pantry when we went to bed.  He broke into the dog food and ate his fill.  He seems alright today except that he's a little subdued.

I went to the garage and painted the wood I want to use for the silverware drawer in the small trailer.  Then I started going through my gun part inventory.  There's a lot and I stopped about halfway through.  I can't find the expensive trigger I bought at the NRA convention.  I hope I left it in Oregon.  We can't find the jewel boxes either.  I'm worried that we lost those.

About 1 I came back in for lunch.  Then I decided to build some stuff.  I built a Minions Lego thing.  Then I built a trebuchet.  It was fairly complicated, but works great.

By then it was dinner time.  I had noodles and salad.  After dinner was football and a Tarheel's game.  They killed Stanford.

The Audi dealership called.  Our car is finally ready.  We'll pick it up tomorrow.

Day 1108

It was another up at 8, out of bed at 9 day.  We did the pet stuff and had breakfast.  It was cold outside, so I didn't want to mow.  Also, we were supposed to go to lunch with Isaac at 1.  So instead we went through the linen closet looking for things to give Isaac and things to give to Goodwill.

We found quite a few things.  Isaac got a whole lot of flashlights and a couple of old watches.  They might be worth something as collector's items.  Goodwill got a lot of old towels and sheets.  I also went through the things on top of the big desk and filled a small box with mini-lego toys.

We were just finishing up when Isaac called and said that his girlfriend was sick, so they wanted to reschedule.  Basically I don't think he wanted to come today.  In fact, I don't think he wants to come at all.

We had sandwiches for lunch.  Then I decided to set up the new alarm clock/weather display I got for the bedroom.  I paired it with the remote and installed the remote outside.  Then I downloaded the app and hooked it to the internet.  Everything was going fine except the data from the remote sensor isn't being reported to the app.  The app sees the sensor, but won't acknowledge it.  I've got an email into support.

I did some reading, and then about 3 we went to HEB.  I needed bananas and we wanted to get something for dinner.  When we got home Ellen fixed sausage, pancakes, and eggs for dinner.  It was really good.

The rest of the day/evening was reading and football.  It's raining right now and it's supposed to get cold tonight.

Day 1107

Today was another get up about 8, but stay in bed.  We surfed for awhile an played fetch with Devin.  Lucy just laid there with Devin jumping over her.  When we finally got up it was pet stuff and breakfast.  It was cold, 50 degrees.

The grass was finally dry, so I decided to go out and start mowing.  I'd charged up the mower battery last week, so I thought I was ready to go.  When I tried to start the mower, the battery was dead.  I blamed the charger and put the other charger on it.  In the mean time I tried to get the gas edger working.  I couldn't get it to start.  I worked for over an hour on it and wore out myself pulling on the cord.

The charger was on fast charge, so by then the mower battery was charged.  I tried to start the mower again.  The battery barely cranked the started and died in about 30 seconds.  Obviously the battery was toast.  So I went inside, got Ellen, and we went to get another battery.  After we got the battery we stopped next door for lunch.  Then we went to Lowe's so I could get wood for a project.  We got sidetracked looking at the sale stuff (squirrel!!!) and ended up spending a lot of time there.  Then we stopped at Home Depot for good measure.  The last stop was the post office.

By then we'd killed most of the afternoon.  So I surfed until dinner - pulled beef sliders.

After dinner I watched 5 abandoned structures shows.  It's soo nice to fast forward through all of the commercials.

Day 1106

We got up at 8 today, but stayed in bed until about 8:30.  Then it was pet stuff, breakfast, and a little surfing.  At 9:30 it was time to go back to the oncologist to get the test results.

It was good news.  All of Ellen's tests are clean.  Both the doctor and us are very happy.  There was a note about nodes on her thyroid, so they sent us back to the imaging place for an ultrasound.  We'll have to wait for the official word, but the technician said he didn't see anything to worry about.

After that we went to the Audi dealership.  They've had the car since Monday and we needed to get Ellen's diaper bag and the vodka I'd left in the trunk..  Apparently they've replaced the bad controller, but they are "waiting on Audi to give them a navigation code".  Crap.

The next stop was an estate sale at loop 1 and 2222.  It was just after noon when we were driving up, but traffic was already crappy (it's Friday).  Southbound was backed up from before downtown to 360.  Northbound was slow from just after downtown until almost to 2222.  The estate sale was kind of a bust.  The garage had some interesting things on the web, but it was picked over by the time we got there.  The inside had nothing of interest.

We took 2222 over to 360 to avoid the crap on loop 1.  That turned out to be a good decision.  We only had to wait at a couple of the lights and traffic was moving really well every place else.  We stopped at the post office and then went home.

We got home about 4.  One of the things at the post office was the new gate controller.  I went out and switched the old inside controller to the outside (the broken one) and put the new controller on the inside.  This simple task was made a pain in the ass because the inside controller was stuck in it's housing.  Also, I couldn't remember it's code, so I had to reset it completely.

After that I had a snack because we didn't have lunch and I thought that we'd eat at Cabela's.  Then it was surfing until time to leave a little after 7.

Cabela's was a real disappointment.  The place is just a Bass ProShop now.  The knife and optics departments are about half what they used to be.  The Bargain Cave is gone.  Rather than have food in the cafeteria they had stands with pop cans and some finger food.  Worst of all, they didn't have a P365.  In fact, they wouldn't even let me back order one.  All the Gun Cave had in it were a buch of over priced Colt revolvers.  There weren't a lot of people there either.  I think Cabela's is going to shit.

We stopped briefly at Wally World to get a plastic container.  We got home after 10 and went to bed.

Day 1105

We woke up at 8, but stayed in bed for awhile because this is the one day this week that Ellen isn't going to a doctor.  Mowing the lawn was out, because it rained again last night.

When we did get up it was pet stuff and breakfast.  Then I took the weather sensor off the deck roof and cleaned out the rain gauge.  It hasn't been reading correctly at all.  Then I did a little surfing.  Wasting the day wasn't an option, so I decided to identify stuff that we can give to Isaac to sell when he comes by on Sunday.  Ellen and I went through the closet in the spare bedroom and found a lot of stuff to give away.  When cleaning out the closet we ran across a whole lot of old shooting prizes, mostly knives.  We're giving most of them to Isaac.  We also found a whole lot of pins and patches that we put in the "pins and awards" bin where they belong.  This took quite a bit of time.

Then we got sidetracked cleaning up paperwork.  We totally cleaned out a file box with records dating back to 2010.  We almost overheated the shredder.

Then it was time for lunch.  After lunch we attacked the large desk.  We got rid of old papers and miscellaneous stationary type stuff.  We organized the rest so that we could locate things when we wanted them.  Then we went through the old tablets.  Ellen cleaned one for Isaac to sell.  Another is DOA.  We're keeping a couple of others.

Then we took a break until dinner.  I took the dog to the mailbox.  I also took bags of garbage and recycle out to the cans.  Today was garbage day, but there's already significant amounts of stuff in both cans.

Ellen fixed fish burgers for dinner.  After dinner we tackled the small desk.  It wasn't as big a task, but it took some time because were worked slowly.

We finished the desk and called it quits.  The only thing left to go through is the linen closet.

The rest of the evening was reading and football.

Day 1104

We got up about 8:15.  Ellen had a doctor's appointment at 9:30.  We did the pet stuff and had breakfast.  Then there was a short surfing session before leaving  That's when I discovered that fucking Microsoft had fucked me.  When I downloaded a printer driver yesterday it required me to sign up for an account with them using my mail address.  Unbeknown to me, they changed my login name to that address, AND I COULDN'T CHANGE IT BACK.  ASSHOLES!!!!!  We had to leave before I could do much with it.

The doctor took about an hour.  Then we stopped at the post office.  I was disappointed that a couple of packages haven't made it yet.  The last stop was the park.  The creek has quite a bit of water in it, so Lucy got to swim.  I cut her short at 15 retrieves.  She also got to do quite a few land retrieves.

When we got home I got lunch and then started to restore my computer.  I had to create a new account with my old user name.  Then I had to make it look like my old account.  Because Microsoft's stupid file sharing only works over a network, I had to copy all of the files from the old account to a USB drive and then copy them back to the hard drive under my new account.  I think everything made it, but I almost lost my password file.  I also had to configure a few things by hand.  The whole process took 4 hours.  FUCK MICROSOFT!!!!

When that ordeal was over I did a little surfing and then took out the garbage and recycle.  I also took the dog to the mailbox.

Ellen fixed baked potatoes for dinner.  After dinner was reading and surfing.

Day 1103

I woke up about 7:30.  I looked outside and it had rained again last night.  So much for my plans to mow.  I was disgusted, so I went back to bed and surfed until after 9.  I also played fetch with the cat.  It's amazing.  Devin does play fetch, at least until he gets tired.

We got up, did the pet stuff, and had breakfast.  I'm pretty much out of things to do except mow and fix the trailer roof.  I couldn't do either with it raining.  I did go out to the garage to update my parts inventory.  I didn't get very far with it before lunch.

While I was doing that Ellen was on the phone getting a Medicare education.  She's as amazed as I was about how convoluted it all is.

After lunch we left to get the suppressor.  It turns out I need a couple of accessories for it.  I told them to order them.  Then we went to Ellen's mammography.  After that it was a short stop at the grocery.

Lucy hasn't been having much fun, so we stopped at the restaurant across from Harbor Freight.  We at some happy hour appetisers and took half of them home for a late dinner.

We stopped at the post office on the way home.  My credit cards were there - I'm very happy.

It was almost 5 when we got home.  We spent the evening surfing and reading.  About 8 I went to get the mail.  It was dark, but 81 degrees.  I walked to the box without turning on the flashlight.  As I got near to it I scared the hell out of something - I think it was a deer.

Day 1102

We got up about 7:30, but surfed in bed for an hour.  Then it was pet stuff and breakfast.

I got an email from Cabela's today saying that the 10% off day will be Friday (it's Monday).  I don't have a valid Cabela's card right now.  They sent the replacement while our mail was being forwarded, so the post office returned it to the bank.  I called the bank last week.  They said they mailed a card out, but I haven't received it.  I called this morning and got put on hold (surprise, surprise).  I finally talked to Gupta.  He said that the card was sent out on the 2nd, several days AFTER Jose told me it was sent out last week.  I hope I get it in time, as I've shredded the two expired cards.  I may end up trying to put the shreds together.

All this took up all of the time before leaving for Ellen's appointment at the oncology center.  We got in the car and I booked.  I made it there in 16 minutes.  When we got there we got to wait.  First we waited while they entered Ellen's info in a new bookkeeping system.  Then we waited to be asked upstairs.  When we got there they said "go get a CAT scan on Wednesday, goodbye".  Crap.

On the way home we stopped at Harbor Freight to return the wheels I didn't need.  Then we stopped at Sam's Club to return the yard lights I bought.  I can't put them on a timer, so they are no good for me.  Since we were there, I decided to go next door for a haircut.  I didn't have to wait and it came out nice.  Then we went next door for lunch.

After lunch it was the post office to mail some certified letters (no credit card).  Then we stopped at Walgreens for drugs and flu shots.  After that it was home.

We were home for about 45 minutes before it was time to take the car to the dealer.  The center display is now dead all the time.  We took the truck also because they wanted to keep the car.

On the way home we stopped to pick up Ellen's drugs.  When we got home it was a little surfing.  Then the dog and I got the mail.  Dinner was leftover beans and rice.

After dinner was reading and football.  I've made quite a dent in all of the magazines that had piled up while the mail was on hold.

Day 1101

I got up at 7:22 today (really 8:22, but daylight saving time ended).  I was raring to start mowing the lawn - until I saw that it had rained .15 inches last night.  So I did the pet stuff and had breakfast.

I messed around with a couple of small things.  I put away the clothes from the trailer.  In the process I threw away some shirts.  Ellen got into the act also.  Between us we filled three garbage bags.  I also put Mom's pictures in the frames I bought yesterday.  They worked well.

After that i went outside to find something to do.  I poured a little salt in the softener.  Isaac had apparently poured some salt into the cart where I had a shovel and a rake.  They were horribly rusted, as were the bolts on the cart bed.  Oh well.

I decided to haul away the remains of the wooden bench in the front yard with the cart.  The bench had totally collapsed during the summer.  The tires on the cart were flat.  One of them woudn't hold air even though I filled it with slime.  So it was off to Harbor Freight.

We made it into an errand trip.  We left off the stuff and Goodwill.  Then we stopped at the HOME store to return a container we'd bought yesterday that wouldn't fit.  Then it was Harbor Freight for the wheels.  They were on sale so I bought 2.  Theres a whole Food wannabe store next door.  We went in to look but didn't buy anything.  Then we stopped at In-n-Out for lunch.

After lunch we stopped at Sprouts to look.  It has fish burgers and mangos, so we'll be back.  We also stopped at Tuesday Morning, but it didn't have anything.  We drove back to Brodie to another home products store.  It didn't have anything.  Then we stopped at Michael's.  They had the storage boxes I was looking for.  The final stop was Bed, Bath, and Beyond.  They didn't have a bread box.

When we got home I went to work.  I was a little pissed at myself when I discovered that I already had two extra cart wheels.  I put one on the cart.  Then I used it to haul away the remains of the bench.  I also spread three loads of gravel on the road near the gate.  I'd spread it too thin when I first applied it and the rain had washed it away.  I put the tools and cart away and then opened up the trailer.

I filled one of the new storage boxes with stuff from a cabinet.  I replaced the broken wire connector box with one from Michaels.  I tried to use the hose coiling accessory I ordered, but it won't work on 3/4 inch hose, only 5/8.  I broke it trying.  Finally I replaced the handle on the 30 Amp plug.

It was after 4 by then, so I went in and surfed.  I'm still really pissed at Dave for raising the rent.  I've got to get myself to quit thinking about it.  Ellen fixed sausage and eggs for dinner.

After dinner was surfing and football.

Day 1100

We woke up at 8 today, turned over, and went back to sleep until 9:15.  Then it was pet stuff and breakfast.

When breakfast was done my first order of business was to fill up the car tires.  The alarm went off last night.  It turned out that 3 tires had 25 psi in them and the fourth had 27.  They were supposed to have 35 front and 38 back.  I filled them up.  When I tried to reset the alarm the car locked up again.  I was pissed, it worked yesterday.

When I was finished I used the compressor to blow out the water in the trailer lines.  Then Ellen and I went out to the trailer.  The purpose was to go through all of the stuff in it and remove stuff that we really didn't need.  We removed computer stuff, books, pots and pans, glassware, excess cleaning supplies, magazines, and clothing.  The remaining stuff was repacked.  The result is that every storage space in the trailer is better organized and emptier.

We put all of the dishes in the dish washer so they'd get really clean.

I didn't quite get finished with my clothing effort before it got too hot to work in the trailer.  So I locked it up, put the gas can in the car, and we left to do errands.  We stopped at Costco first.  My left hearing aid died awhile back.  They suggested I send both in, so I'm without hearing aids for the next two weeks.  Next was a cookie stop, followed by a stop at Sam's club.  We were going to SPEC's, but decided to stop there because we were driving by it.  We bought some food, and some cool colored yard lights.  SPEC's was the next stop.  Unfortunately they didn't have the booze we wanted.

While working in the trailer we identified some things that would make it better, like a new garbage can and another container for stuff.  So we went to HOME to look.  I also wanted a couple of picture frames for pictures I got when we moved Mom. We found the frames, the can, and an organizer.  We stopped at Target next to get a container and a parts box.  They only had the container.

It was after 6 by then, so we went to the Cajun place for dinner.  It was great.  After that we stopped for the gas on the way home.

When we got home I put the gas in the garage.  Then I put the dishes back in the trailer and installed the stuff we'd bought for it.  Finally I finished going through my clothes.  I've got a pile of them to put away in the house tomorrow, but I just dont feel like doing anything else today.

The rest of the evening was surfing and TV.

Day 1099

We woke up at 8:15, but stayed in bed and surfed for awhile.  There wasn't any point in getting up, because we figured most of the day would be spent at home while the AC guy worked.  We were right.

After pet stuff and breakfast we surfed.  The AC guy said he'd be here before 9 and 10.  He got here at 11.  He worked for a couple of hours and then took the old AC part that was leaking north some place to get it exchanged.  It was rusted and looked crappy.  That took hi at least two hours.  When he got back he spent more time working.  He wasn't finished until after 5.  We just surfed.

Dave emailed Ellen today raising our rent from $200 to $300 in the winter and from $300 to $500 in the summer.  I called him.  He said it was because the board was going to charge him more and he needed to make sure we paid as much as anyone else.  That's bullshit, but we can't do much about it.

I tried to put up more lights on the deck, but it turns out the Minions light string is broken.  I'm going to try to replace it before I do anything else.  I did install the plastic bag holder on the cabinet door and reinstalled the door.  It fits well.  I put most of the booze in that cabinet to keep Ellen happy.  In return she made up this "mojito in a bag" thing we bought somewhere.  It needs to be frozen, so I can't drink it until tomorrow.

After that AC guy left we had sloppy joe sliders for dinner.  Then we went out.  We got rid of the Goodwill stuff and stopped at the post office.  We also went to Randell's for milk and Bed, Bath, and Beyond for a cat food chopper.  The last stop was Lowe's to get numbers for the mailbox.  Lucy was REALLY happy to got out of the house.

Thursday, November 1, 2018

Day 1098

It was a busy day.  We got up at 8:15, did the pet stuff and had breakfast.  Then I went out to the garage to put away the stuff there.  There were 6 boxes of stuff.  Most of it was for the garage and apartment, but some of it was for the house.

Before I could put the stuff for the apartment away I had to clean up all the stuff that Isaac had left all around.  There was stuff in every room.  I piled most of it on the lower bunk bed.  There's two large plastic bins in the bathroom that had to stay there.  It must have taken almost an hour to get it all collected.

I finished with the garage stuff about 11:30.  It was too early for lunch, so I got out all of the stuff in the trailer basement.  A lot of it went to the house.  It took awhile to get it all extracted from the trailer and put away.  I also swept away all the leaves that had accumulated in the front entry and on the deck.  There was a whole lot of them.

After lunch I called the AC people.  The AC hasn't worked since we got home.  They said they'd have a guy here in an hour.  Amazing.  I decided it was time to "move" from the laptop to my all-in-one.  That didn't go well.  Something was wrong with the machine.  The touch panel kept receiving random inputs.  It was almost impossible to get it connected to the internet.  I couldn't get to Control Panel at all.  I tried to update Bitdefender, but it wouldn't because my key had expired over the summer.  Ellen had to send me a email with the new key embedded in it.

The AC guy showed up while I was in PC hell.  He spent about an hour looking at things and pronounced that the thing had an irreparable leak.  The good news is I won't have to pay for the part.  The bad news is he charged $500 for today, and another $1,000 to install the new part.  The so-so news is that he'll be here tomorrow to do it.

I finally figured out the problem with the all-in-one after he left.  I managed to get Task Manager up.  It told me that the inclinometer process was burning a lot of CPU.  That got me to lift the computer off it's stand.  As soon as I did, the touch panel problem went away.  When I put the computer back on the stand the problem didn't reappear.  Yeah.  Then I spent half an hour waiting for updates to download and install.  After that the system was back to normal and I put the laptop away.

Ellen fixed baked potatoes for dinner.  After dinner we went to Best Buy.  I had a 25% off coupon for their toys.  I got a catapult.  We also stopped at the post offic and HEB.  We didn't get home until 9:30.

When we got home we couldn't get in the gate.  The car transmitter had a dead battery.  The outside keypad that I "fixed" didn't work again.  That's something for tomorrow.
