Day 1098

It was a busy day.  We got up at 8:15, did the pet stuff and had breakfast.  Then I went out to the garage to put away the stuff there.  There were 6 boxes of stuff.  Most of it was for the garage and apartment, but some of it was for the house.

Before I could put the stuff for the apartment away I had to clean up all the stuff that Isaac had left all around.  There was stuff in every room.  I piled most of it on the lower bunk bed.  There's two large plastic bins in the bathroom that had to stay there.  It must have taken almost an hour to get it all collected.

I finished with the garage stuff about 11:30.  It was too early for lunch, so I got out all of the stuff in the trailer basement.  A lot of it went to the house.  It took awhile to get it all extracted from the trailer and put away.  I also swept away all the leaves that had accumulated in the front entry and on the deck.  There was a whole lot of them.

After lunch I called the AC people.  The AC hasn't worked since we got home.  They said they'd have a guy here in an hour.  Amazing.  I decided it was time to "move" from the laptop to my all-in-one.  That didn't go well.  Something was wrong with the machine.  The touch panel kept receiving random inputs.  It was almost impossible to get it connected to the internet.  I couldn't get to Control Panel at all.  I tried to update Bitdefender, but it wouldn't because my key had expired over the summer.  Ellen had to send me a email with the new key embedded in it.

The AC guy showed up while I was in PC hell.  He spent about an hour looking at things and pronounced that the thing had an irreparable leak.  The good news is I won't have to pay for the part.  The bad news is he charged $500 for today, and another $1,000 to install the new part.  The so-so news is that he'll be here tomorrow to do it.

I finally figured out the problem with the all-in-one after he left.  I managed to get Task Manager up.  It told me that the inclinometer process was burning a lot of CPU.  That got me to lift the computer off it's stand.  As soon as I did, the touch panel problem went away.  When I put the computer back on the stand the problem didn't reappear.  Yeah.  Then I spent half an hour waiting for updates to download and install.  After that the system was back to normal and I put the laptop away.

Ellen fixed baked potatoes for dinner.  After dinner we went to Best Buy.  I had a 25% off coupon for their toys.  I got a catapult.  We also stopped at the post offic and HEB.  We didn't get home until 9:30.

When we got home we couldn't get in the gate.  The car transmitter had a dead battery.  The outside keypad that I "fixed" didn't work again.  That's something for tomorrow.
