Day 2045

I woke up a little before 8 and played games until after 9.  Then it was pet stuff and breakfast.  After a little surfing Ellen and I went outside so she could cut my hair.  They were stacking pipe while she cut my hair, so I got to watch some honest labor.

After that we went back inside for awhile and then left so Ellen could get her second COVID shot.  She had an appointment, but they still made her wait for 45 minutes before giving her the shot.  Then she had to wait longer to make sure it wouldn't kill her immediately.

By then it was past lunch time, so we ate at AC Greasy.  I bought a new hose Y at the hardware store.  They had DeWalt jigsaws on sale, so I bought on of those also.  The one in the shed is a cheap corded model that I've had for over 40 years.  For a long time it was the only power saw I owned.  When I was building the shelves for the shed it was clear that it had gotten very tired.  We stopped at Baumann's on the way home, but didn't buy anything.

When I got home I replaced the Y in the trailer water input with the new one.  Before I attached it I used the Dremel to widen it's input.  I also used the compressor to clean out the debris in the trailer input hose connection screen.  How to make a short simple job longer and more complicated.

After that I called Grant.  Ellen and I had some questions.  He answered them.  I signed some documents online while we were talking.  Apparently more are coming.  Oh boy.

That was it for accomplishments today.  The rest of the day was TV and games.  I actually found an old western with James Coburn in it that I'd never seen before.  Dinner was leftover sloppy joe's.  Ellen is beginning to feel the ill effects of the COVID shot.

Day 2044

We got up at 7:30, did the pet stuff and had breakfast.  We wanted to get to the laundromat before it got hot.  It turns out it didn't matter, because it only got to the low 90's today.  There was only one other person there when we got there.

We went to Safeway after the laundry was done.  We needed to get groceries.  After that it was the post office and home.

A package at the post office contained watch bands for Ellen and me.  I got out my new watch and put the band on it.  Then I went through the process of making it work.  First there was download and install an update to the ap on my phone.  Then download and install support for the new watch.  Then turn the watch on and let it initialize itself.  Finally, download and install an update to the watch.  All of this was very slow.  The process took over an hour and a half.  Just to put on a new watch.

After that I spent a lot of time looking for the watch face I had on my other watch.  I didn't find it, but I found one that was similar.  Then I put Ellen's new band on her watch.  It took some time and effort because of its magnetic clasp and ill designed watch attachments.

Ellen didn't get around to re-caulking the shower.  I did have to remove some caulk because it was interfering with the movement of the doors.

That was pretty much the end of useful effort today.  The afternoon was hot, upper 90's.  It still felt a lot cooler after the last 3 days.  We spent the afternoon and evening on games and TV.

Ellen fixed pork and scalloped potatoes for dinner.  It was really good.

Day 2043

I woke up a little after 8, got up and did the pet stuff and breakfast.  It was all ready in the high 80's.  By noon it was over 100.  The only time I left the trailer all day was to get the caulk gun from the shed.

Last night the shower leaked as bad as it ever has.  I looked it over carefully today and found three or four small places that weren't sealed.  Ellen used the caulk gun to seal them.  We'll see what happens tonight.

Other than that nothing got accomplished today.  The whole day was spent on TV, surfing, and games.  It got above 110 today.  The AC's couldn't keep the temp below 83.  The refrigerator was up to 42 degrees.  Things cooled off some in the evening.  We got a strong west wind that brought the temperature down to 73 by 10.  It was a nice change.

Sunday, June 27, 2021

Day 2042

I woke up a little before 8, played games, and then got up for pet stuff and breakfast.  It was in the 80's.  It eventually got up to 113.  We spent the whole day holed up in the trailer.

I did get some stuff out of the shed so that we could try to seal the shower again.  I removed a section of the tape that didn't seal.  Then I replaced it with some that I think was better installed.  Then Ellen used caulk to seal the edges of the tape.  We'll have to see if that does the trick.

Ellen also used the carpet cleaner she bought yesterday to clean the carpet behind the recliners.  that's where Devon has been pissing.  The spray bottle deodorizers haven't done the job.  That's another thing we'll have to wait to see if it works.

I spent some time going through some mail and email from Grant.  I wrote him a note asking a couple of questions.

That was it for useful things done today.  We just hung around inside the trailer.  The AC's worked amazingly well at keeping the place cool.  It did get up to 80, but it never seemed uncomfortable.  I did finish the Lego car I was working on.  I'll have to try to get it to run tomorrow.  It uses a phone app for a controller.

Other than that the whole day was TV, games, and surfing.

Ellen fixed bacon wrapped chicken for dinner.  They're frozen, but they're still pretty good.

Saturday, June 26, 2021

Day 2041

We woke up at 6:47.  After pet stuff and breakfast we loaded up and went to the club.  The shoot started at 8  By then it was already in the 80's.  The shoot was 50 12 ga super sporting and 50 20 ga super sporting.  We shot 20 ga for both.

I shot 44 in both event.  I would have done very well in the 20 ga if I hadn't missed 4 targets on the first station.  We started both events in the middle of the course.  That made for a lot of walking on a very hot day.  We ate lunch at the club and then went home.  It was 97 when we got done at 11:30.

We didn't stay long at the trailer.  I'd been promising myself strawberry shortcake while we were shooting.  So we left for Jones Farm.  We also stopped at Roth's for a couple of things.

When we got home I was very tired.  I went into the bedroom and napped for more than an hour.  When I woke up I took a shower.  Because of the heat the water in the supply hose was as hot as the water coming out of the water heater.  I'd just gotten to cooler water from the well when the tank overflowed.  I had to get out of the shower, dry off, and go out to pull the drain.  The shower felt very good afterwards though.

After the shower I watched TV and played games until dinner.  Dinner was leftover sloppy joes and french fries.  Later I made the shortcake.

After dinner was more games and TV.  I went to bed early.

Day 2040

I woke up at 8 and spent about an hour playing games.  Then it was up for pet stuff and breakfast.  After breakfast it was on to projects.

The first project was hanging the door tapestry.  It wasn't hard to do, but it took more time than it should have.  That was because I had a hard time finding screws that were long enough to attach the rod, but short enough to fit under the bar into the hole in the base.  The result looks nice though.

The second project was mounting the fan on the headboard.  I could have used it last night.  I suspect that it will come in handy during the coming three day hot spell.  That job went smoothly except for a little problem getting it attached to the headboard.

I was feeling pleased with myself after that.  I almost forgot that yesterday's attempt to seal the shower with tape was an abject failure.  The tape didn't adhere to the shower and actually caused a bigger problem by acting as a funnel.  I'm not sure what I'm going to do there.

Ellen wanted to go to Target for a couple of things.  I just didn't feel like going anywhere, so she went by herself.  I surfed.  When she got back I had a sandwich for lunch.

After lunch was games, surfing, and TV.  It was too hot to go outside.  It got into the high 90's.  Luckily the trailer AC's did a good job of keeping things cool.  I hope that continues.  I'm a little concerned about power failures.

Ellen fixed sloppy joes for dinner.  After dinner it was more of the same games, surfing, and TV.  We have to get up early tomorrow.  We need to be at the club  by 7:30.  We'll still get hot.  It's forcasted to be 100 by the time we finish at noon.

Thursday, June 24, 2021

Day 2039

I woke up at 7:30 and played games until after 8.  Then it was get up for pet stuff and breakfast.  After breakfast I got out the waterproof tape to seal the shower.  Ellen helped me apply it.  Unfortunately I ran out before I had the whole shower sealed.  The role of tape was only 5 feet long.  It's aripoff, since it cost $13.

There wasn't anything to do except get more.  Ellen wanted to go to a fabric store to get material for the door hanging.  So we headed out.  We stopped at the fabric store and she got what she wanted.  The plan was to get the tape at Lowe's, but they didn't have it.  That meant we had to go to Wally World.  We got the tape.  By then it was noon, so we ate at DQ.

When we got home we finished sealing the shower.  We'll have to wait until tonight to see if it did the trick.  It was getting hot, so we spent some time surfing and watching TV.  I got bored and worked some more on the Lego RC car I'm building.  That got old and I played games.

Ellen started work on the door hanging.  It came out looking pretty good.  Unfortunately the rod I bought has some stupid glue on magnetic attachment.  I'll have to change it to screws tomorrow.

Ellen fixed sausage and hashbrowns for dinner.  After dinner was more TV and surfing.

The weather is supposed to get extremely hot this weekend.  They are forecasting temperatures of 110 degrees or hotter.  We cancelled shooting on Sunday.  I may bag Saturday if it gets to 112 like they say it will.  It's supposed to be triple digits through Monday with hot nights.  It's supposed to be in the 90's for the rest of next week.  I hope the electricity doesn't go out.

Wednesday, June 23, 2021

Day 2038

We woke up about 8, did the pet stuff and had breakfast.  Ellen left to go to the laundromat.  I stayed home in case the sewer guy showed up.  I looked up places that move safes.  There aren't many.

When Ellen got back we went over to the club.  I needed to find out the model of the safes, their sizes, and their contents.  There are more guns in there than I thought.  It's going to be a challenge to get them all to Texas.  We also met a couple of old shooters - Pat and the port guy.  We talked for quite a while.

When that was done we sat down and watched TV.  It was getting warm and we didn't feel like shooting.  Lunch was BBQ pork that we got from Safeway the other day.  After that it was more TV and some surfing.  The sewer guy came about two.  I ran the second hose to the toilet.  That speeded things up.  Afterwards I had to replace the water filter.  It was about half plugged.  I'd noticed a slow flow last night.  Today it got really bad.

Amazon delivered stuff at both the club and the post office.  The club had my new watch, a replacement bike mirror, and the water flow meter.  I got those and ordered a watchband on Amazon.  The one it ships with won't fit me.  Then we picked up the post office package - a new tapestry for the door window.  Without it the sun shines on the thermostat and the AC runs continuously.  We also stopped at Walmart to get fixtures to hang it.

It was almost 8 when we got home.  Dinner was leftover hotdogs and some Mickey D french fries we'd bought on the way home.  After dinner was TV.

Tuesday, June 22, 2021

Day 2037

We got up at 8 and did the pet stuff.  We didn't eat breakfast because Patty wanted to fix it.  We left and drove up to the dentist.

The dentist visit didn't last more than 20 minutes.  They fitted the mouth guard and sent me on my way.  We were at John and Patty's before 10.

When we got there we gave Patty her presents - a lawn bunny, a bunny planter, and Ellen's needlepoint lighthouse.  Then we talked for a while and Patty fixed eggs and sausage for breakfast.  After that we talked for hours.  Some of it was politics and some if it was just things that had happened.  Eventually it kind of degenerated into everyone looking at their phones or computer.

John went out to prepare for an inspection of his yard work tomorrow.  It's looking really good.  The rest of us stayed in the house.  I played with the dog for quite a while.

Eventually Patty fixed dinner - chicken salad.  After dinner Patty and I had drinks.  After that the conversation got a little louder.  We also had fun telling the computer to play different songs for us.

We left about 8.  I thought we would get stuck in a construction oriented traffic jam on I5.  Luckily they were working on the northbound lanes, so it was clear sailing going home.  We got home at 9, watched a little TV, and went to bed.

Monday, June 21, 2021

Day 2036

I woke up about 8 and played games until almost 9.  Then it was up for pet stuff and breakfast.  After that we got out all of the stuff and went out to shoot.

It was warm when we started and hot by the time we were done.  I was soaked in sweat.  I shot about like I expected.  I shot well when I could see, and crappy when I couldn't.  On some stations I would make a perfect hit on a target and then couldn't hit it again to save my life.  I really hate floaters.

When we were done I was hot, sweaty, and very tired.  We sat and surfed for about an hour and a half.  Then it was time to go grocery shopping at Safeway.  On the way back we stopped at AC Greasy and the post office.

By then it was in the mid 90's.  We surfed and watched TV until dinner time.  I might have had a nap.  Ellen fixed sausage and hash browns for dinner.  After dinner it was more TV for the rest of the evening.  Can you say 5-0?

Sunday, June 20, 2021

Day 2035

I woke up at 7:30 even though I didn't get to sleep until almost 2.  The good news is I placed first in one area of the competition and second in the other.  I played games for a while and then got up for pet stuff and breakfast.

After breakfast I got stuff from the shed and cleaned the outside of the shower.  I also did a little cleaning of the inside.  Yesterday's caulking did nothing to improve the leaking.  When the cleaning was done Ellen caulked the outside and touched up the inside.  I don't know what to do if that doesn't work.

While Ellen was caulking I put up another shelf in the shed.  When I finished I moved the bike stuff - bags, helmets, batteries, and chargers to it.  Then Ellen and I unloaded the bicycles.  I also unhooked all of the stuff tying the rack to the trailer.  I left it on the trailer though.  We took the bikes to the carport and chained them up.

By then it was after noon.  I went inside and had an Italian sandwich for lunch.  Then I sat down and watched TV.  I was tired.  I fell asleep for a while.  When I woke up I played games and surfed until dinner.  Ellen fixed a pizza.

I watched TV until it cooled down a little bit (over 90 today).  Then I walked around the course.  I plan on doing that every evening.  After that it was more 5-0 until time to go to bed.  We're watcing 2 or three episodes a night.

Final note.  The new clock in the bedroom works great.

Saturday, June 19, 2021

Day 2034

I woke up a little after 8, and played games until after 9.  I'm ahead in the game tournament, but I have two days to go.  Then it was pet stuff and breakfast.  After breakfast we went to Lowe's.  We needed to get something to seal the shower.

The effort to seal the showe rso far haven't worked.  The last one lasted for a few days, now it's as bad as every.  We bought some "flexible" sealant.  I hope it works.

When we got home I spent quite a bit of time removing the old sealant and thoroughly cleaning the surfaces.  I cleaned the shower floor and the bathroom floor, too.  Then Ellen resealed everything.  I hope it works.  If it doesn't we'll have to seal the outside.

I did some surfing while Ellen was working.  When she was done I had an Italian sandwich for lunch.  After lunch was more Hawaii 5-0.

Dinner was hot dogs on hamburger buns.  After that I walked around the club.  I want to start doing that every evening.  It was nice outside, so when I got back I sat outside the trailer with my tablet playing games and surfing.

Friday, June 18, 2021

Day 2033

I woke up at 8:15.  I got up for pet stuff and breakfast immediately because we needed to pick up the car.  I wanted to avoid the Friday traffic on I5.

The trip up was amazing.  Everyone was going fast, up to 85.  We made it from the Woodburn entrance to the Denny road exit in 20 minutes.  We stopped for gas and still made it to the dealership in 35 minutes.  They didn't even charge us for the extra work on the car.

We turned around and drove home immediately.  The traffic was heavy, but it was moving fast.  We made a quick stop in Wilsonville for gas and milk.  When we got to the Canby exit there was a wrecker loading a disabled car onto a flat bed.  Northbound traffic was backed up from there to Aurora.  It was amazing.  All of that for a car on the side of the road.

We stopped at the post office.  The shelf I ordered was there.  That gave me something to do.  I measured out how much shelf I needed and cut it off the original.  I decided to mount it with brackets.  That's when the work started.  I had a bad time getting the shelf and the clock positioned so the ceiling display would work.  I kept jockeying things and nothing seemed stable.  I finally discovered that the bottom of the clock wasn't flat.  Every time I positioned it it would move.  After I realized that I got the shelf attached and the clock attached to it.  It looks pretty good.

Lunch was a Italian sandwich followed by some surfing.  After a while I got a text saying some drugs were ready.  So we went to CVS.  It was a little before 5, so we decided to check out In-N-Out.  Miraculously it wasn't crowded.  So we had an early dinner.

When we got home it was past time to feed the cats.  After that was a little more surfing , some game playing, and then TV.  More Hawaii 5-0.

Thursday, June 17, 2021

Day 2032

I woke up about 8 and started playing games.  I played games for almost 2 hours before getting up for pet stuff and breakfast.  After that I made an appointment at 12 for a COVID shot.  I'm pretty sure that the antibody test I took was bullshit.  I just don't want to fight about it anymore.

After I got the shot we headed to ACE.  I wanted to get a water flow meter.  One the way we saw a coll restaurant.  I stopped and we had a nice lunch, including a $8 slice of cake.  Unfortunately the ACE didn't have a meter.  We also stopped at a pet store and got more of the CBD oil that we've been giving Devon.  It really seems to calm him down.

Audi texted me.  The car is done and we'll pick it up tomorrow morning.

We went home after that.  I went out to the truck to install the cubby liners I'd ordered just after we got here.  It took a while to sort out all of the pieces and put them in the right places.  I'm pleased with the result.  I also dumped the tanks.

I'd started working on a Lego truck while waiting to go to get the shot.  After the truck was done I went back to working on it.  It's fun, but I don't have enough sorting boxes for all of the parts.  That means I have to dig through a bag of parts for some of them.  It's a pain.  I had fun working on it though.  I also did some game playing.  I'm in another multi-day competition with some other people on the web.

Ellen fixed bacon wrapped chicken for dinner.  After dinner I worked on the Lego some more.

The shot has me feeling a little run down and shitty.  I'm going to bed early.

Wednesday, June 16, 2021

Day 2031

I woke up at 7:30 again today.  For some reason I'm getting up early.  I played games until almost 9.  Then it was pet stuff.  There was no time for breakfast before going to Freddie's in Salem for the anti-body test. There was no one at the pharmacy, so they took me right away.  It was just a finger prick and a little blood.  In 15 minutes they said I was negative.  I have to look up the test to see if I believe it.

After that we  wandered around Feddie's for a while and bought a few things.  The n we left for the Keizer pet store.  On the way I saw a Lego store, so I stopped.  It was a private store with a lot of neat kits that are no longer available.  I bout another large remote control kit - an off-road truck.

The pet store didn't have what we wanted, so we drove to the one by the freeway.  We bought more cat food and a bowl that Devon won't be able to tip over.  By then it was noon.  With no breakfast we were hungry, so we stopped at DQ.

We stopped for gas on the way to Jone's Farm.  It was $3.57, the cheapest we'd seen.  We got strawberries at Jone's Farm.  The last stop was the post office.

When we got home we put everything away.  I went out to the garage to cut my tone nail.  The one that's so gnarled that regular clippers can't cut it.  I use wire cutters.  Unfortunately I cut too much and it bled - like a stuck pig.  I spent the rest of the day with a band-aid on my toe.

I was really feeling lazy, so I didn't do anything else except call Audi.  They said the car would be done in a day or so, more chewed wires.  I just watched TV and napped.

Ellen fixed stir fry for dinner.  It was really good.  After dinner was more TV-Hawaii 5-0.

Tuesday, June 15, 2021

Day 2030

I woke up at 7:30.  I got up right away for pet stuff and breakfast.  Then we went to the laundromat to wash clothes.  When that was done we drove to Beaverton.

We were about an hour and a half early for Ellen's dental appointment.  So we went to Freddies.  We managed to kill almost all of that time walking around the store.  The only things we bought were some cereal and some cookies.  I also made an appointment for an anti-body test in Salem tomorrow morning.

I dropped Ellen off for her crown prep.  I went to the Korean/French bakery and had lunch.  Then I went to Home Depot for a water flow meter.   They didn't have one.  By the time I got back to the dentist Ellen was done.

The drive home was much nicer than yesterday's.  There wasn't much slow down at all.  We went all the way to Keizer to go to the farm store.  We got the fixings for stir fry.

It was only about 2 when we got home.  I really didn't feel like doing anything, so we watched TV.  I did spend a little time answering Grant's emails.

Dinner was frozen pizza.  After dinner was more TV.

Monday, June 14, 2021

Day 2029

I woke up at 7:30.  I played games for a while and then got up to do pet stuff and breakfast.  We had a 10:30 meeting with Bob, so I killed time surfing until it was time to leave.

Traffic going up was OK.  At times the spedd was over 70.  We got to Bob's at about10:45.  Ellen and Bob did the taxes.  I sat in the room and surfed.  I pretty much ignored them.  Afterwards the three of us talked for a little while.  Then Bob had to get back to work.

We went to Costco.  It was only a little after 1:00, but traffic was backed up from Tualatin to Wilsonville.  We were stuck in the traffic until after 205.  After that we drove to Costco.  We bought water, some food, and probiotics.  We wanted new toothbrushes, but apparently Sonic doesn't make them anymore.  So we bought new toothbrushes instead.  They were on sale.  We won't start using them until the old ones wear out.

I stopped at ACE for a water meter, they were out.  So was the warehouse.  Then we went to Wankers for lunch.  They don't serve peanuts anymore.  I ordered a sandwich that turned out to be huge.  I ate half of it and was full.

We stopped at the post office on the way home.  There wasn't anything.  When we got home we surfed and watched TV.  I noticed that there was a tree down by station 2.  I went out to look.  Someone had cut it down along with a huge number of branches from the other trees.  They left everything where it fell.  Oh well, it's none of my concern.

Dinner was leftover sloppy joes.  After that it was TV.  We watched old Looney Tunes.  Most of them were from the late 40's and early 50's.  It was fun.

Sunday, June 13, 2021

Day 2028

I woke up at 7:30 and played games until a little after 8.  Then it was up for pet stuff and breakfast.  After breakfast I went out to the shed.

I cut the aluminum sheet I bought yesterday into two pieces.  Then I unbolted the hose reel.  I drilled holes in both the sheets and the compartment bottom.  Then I bolted the sheets to the trailer and the reel back in place.  It wasn't hard, but it took quite a while.

It was too early to go anywhere when I was done.  So I listened to another COVID video.  It had some good points, but basically confirmed what I already knew.  Eventually it got a little past noon.  So we went to Jones farm to get strawberries.  Then we drove to the Keizer farm store, but they were closed.

We decided to go to Elmer's for lunch.  The line was out the door.  So we got sandwiches at Arby's instead.  Then we went home.

There's no data left on the Mi-Fi, so I couldn't watch videos.  Instead I surfed a little.  Ellen fixed coconut cod for dinner.  After dinner it was TV.

Saturday, June 12, 2021

Day 2027

I woke up a little after 8 and played games for a while.  After that it was pet stuff and breakfast.  Then I went out to the shed and got the cell amplifier out.

That began a marathon that lasted until after 3.  I started with installing the antenna on the ladder.  That would have gone easily except that I didn't RTFM and ended up installing it wrong.  I had to take it down and do it again.

Then I laid down in the gravel and drilled a hole through the floor of the trailer.  There were several layers: trailer bottom, insulation, trailer floor, and the bottom of the cabinet.  The bit I had wasn't long enough.  I had to drill from the bottom, use a long bit to drill a pilot hole, and the drill from the top.  After all of that I had to jury rig the fish rod to get the cable through.

Ellen had to help.  She emptied out the cabinet, vacuumed up the mess, and got the couch drug out.  Then she helped fish the cable.

That's when I discovered the hole was too small.  So I had to remove the rod and drill a bigger hole.  After that running the cable was easy.  I connected it to the antenna and attached it to the ladder with the supplied cable ties.  There was exactly enough.  The last pain in the ass was drilling a hole in the side of the cabinet.  The drill bit was too long, so I had to drill a pilot hole and then use a hole drill to enlarge it.

I told Ellen to string the cable to the amplifier while I got back on the gravel to attach the cable to the bottom of the trailer.  It was a big pains in the ass.  I had to attach small cable holders with smaller screws.  When that was done I had lunch while Ellen strung the inside antenna cable.

After that it was down hill.  I attached the amplifier to the wall and put cable holders on the cable in the cabinet and the two power supply cables.  Ellen put everything back together again.

After that we rested for a little bit and then took the truck to Lowe's.  I wanted to check out the new windshield.  It's great.  We got some sealant for the hole in the bottom of the trailer.  I wanted to get a new hose splitter but they didn't have the right kind.  I also got sheet aluminum to reinforce the bottom of the trailer where the new hose reel is.

We stopped at AC Greasy on the way home for root beer floats to celebrate.

When we got home it was TV and a little surfing.  Dinner was leftover sloppy joes.  After dinner was more TV and a little surfing.

Friday, June 11, 2021

Day 2026

I woke up about 7:30 and played games until after 8.  Then it was up for pet stuff and breakfast.  I put on a long sleeve shirt because it was 50 degrees and raining.

After breakfast we drove up to Audi.  It was raining heavily.  Traffic was OK until we got to Wilsonville.  then it sucked for about a mile. When we got to Audi we paid for the car and then looked for Audi trinkets.  We didn't find anything we wanted.  We drove about a block to the parts department.  They didn't have anything either.  Then we left.  As we drove onto TV hwy the malfunction went off again.  So we turned around and went back to Audi.  They kept the car and we got a Q5 for a loaner.  It's much better than the smaller one we had before.

We stopped at Safeway on the way home for bananas, soap, and orange juice.  Of course we picked up a couple of other things, too.  Traffic on the way home sucked.  It was very slow from Tualitan to past Wilsonville.  We stopped at Elmer's for lunch, but it was noon and there was a wait.  So we went home instead.

We had leftovers for lunch.  then I surfed and Ellen watched TV.  About 3 Ellen got a text that there were packages at the club.  So we walked over.  The Porsche guy was there and we talked to him for quite a while.  Then we took the packages home.  I spent about an hour installing the hose reel in the trailer.  When I went inside Ellen hadn't done anything with the cell extender.

We unpacked the extender and put it together to test it.  It didn't give much, if any improvement in the cell signal.  That may be because I didn't mount the antenna up high.  I'll do that tomorrow.  If it doesn't give improvement then, it's going back.

Ell fixed sloppy joes and peach cobbler for dinner.  It was good.  After dinner we spent the whole evening watching TV - the new version of Hawaii 5-0.

Day 2025

I got out of bed after playing games a little after 8.  Then it was pet stuff and breakfast.  After that id did some surfing until about 10.  Ellen was working on a reply to Grant, so I decided to go do errands myself.  I needed to get drugs at CVS.

The shopping list was mainly stuff to install the new clock in the bedroom.  I got the drugs, batteries, and wire holders at Target.  Then I got a couple of things at Lowe's.  I also got jacks, so I now have everything I need to do the wheel bearings.  On the way home I got lunch at the place in Brooks.

I got home after 12.  We ate lunch and the glass guy got there just as we were finishing.  He spent the next couple of hours replacing the windshield.  I installed the new temperature sensor in the pin box.  Then I surfed until he was done.

When that was finished we went to Bed, Bath, and Beyond to get a shelf for the clock.  I hadn't had time to do it earlier.  We didn't find one.  It was happy hour though, so we went to Hops and Drops and had an appetizer.  I had two drinks.  Then we went home.  I had a 1.5 hour nap.

Hooch sent me another email.  I spent hours replying to it and then through most of what I'd written away.

Audi sent me a text at 4 saying the car was finished.  I told them I'd pick it up tomorrow morning.

Day 2024

I woke up at 7:30 and played games until a little after 8.  then it was up for pet stuff and breakfast.  We didn't do the wash yesterday, so Ellen left to do it.  I had to stay home in case the sewer guy came by.

I decided to try to finish my message for Hooch.  I would have, except I kept finding new information.  I did make quite a bit of progress though.  I also learned that the current anti-body testst may not show positive for someone who had the disease as long ago as I did.  We'll see.

Ellen got home a little after noon.  She bought a care package from Amazon.  It had a bunch of the stuff I ordered.  The stuff translates into several projects.  Before I got started we had leftover Chinese for lunch.  We called Audi.  A mouse had chewed through a control wire.  It should be done tomorrow.

After lunch I separated the Amazon stuff into inside and outside projects.  I took the outside stuff to the shed and got started.  I didn't get very far before I had to stop because the sewer guy was here.  He was early, about 2.  It took longer than I wanted to drain the tank.  That's because the valve I had connected to the black tank sprayer is too small.  It will be replaced.

After that i went back to my projects.  I replaced the lock on the front compartment with a combination one.  That would have gone quicker if the instructions had not been wrong.  The error made me think the lock was broken.  I went through all 1000 combinations before discovering the error.  During that the power went out.  It was worrying, but luckily it came back on in about half an hour.

I also replaced the compartment latch.  It's unused, but I wanted to keep it.  The original hung down and I was always either ducking it or hitting my head.  The new latch clicks into a closed position.

The final project was drilling two holes in the pin box.  I attached an eye bolt in one to hold the brake cable when the trailer is unhooked.  The second got a holder/protector for the brake cable.  That's a lot better than having them hang unsecured.

That was the end of the outside projects.  I went inside and opened the first of the indoor ones.  It's a new clock for the bedroom.  Unfortunately It's going to take some work to get it mounted.  I wasn't open to that, so I put it away and watched TV instead.  I watched TV for the rest of the day.

IEllen fixed bacon wrapped chicken, mashed potatoes, and baked beans for dinner.  It was really good.

Day 2023

We got up at 8, did the pet stuff, had breakfast, and left for Beaverton.  We made it to the Audi dealership  in 50 minutes.  Traffic wasn't an issue and speeds were mainly above posted.

We left the car at the dealership and took the loaner to the dentist.  We were a few minutes early, so we had a drink at the coffee shop.  The dentist put fillings on the top of my bottom front teeth.  He recommended a mouthpiece for my top teeth, so I had him start making one. Then another tech cleaned my teeth.  I got done with that a few minutes before Ellen's teeth were done.

We hadn't gotten any word from Audi, so we went over to John and Patty's.  We spent the whole afternoon and part of the evening with them.  We had a chicken salad for dinner.  It was good.

We left about 7:30.  We both had gut problems, so we only made it to Safeway before we stopped to go to the can.  After that it was a smooth trip down to the club.  When we got there it was TV and surfing for a while before going to bed.

Day 2022

I woke up at 7:30, played games, and got up for breakfast and pet stuff a little after 8.  I did manage to win the game competition I've been in for the last week.  After that I worked some more on my email to Hooch.  It's slow going, a lot of stuff to listen to and read.  I still have find a place to give me an antibody test.

It was time to empty the tanks.  That process took almost an hour.  I surfed while it was going on.  When it was finished I took the valve off the end of the drain.  The hose outlet was almost plugged with soap residue.  I cleaned it out.  That should make things go fast next time.

We need some groceries and Ellen needed to pick up some drugs.  I also wanted to get some stuff for my shed project.  So we went to Woodburn.  When we went out to the truck the crack in the glass is about twice as long as it was two days ago.  That's without it being driven since the break happened.

Walgreen's didn't have the drugs.  They made us wait 15 minutes (we were the only people there) before coming to that conclusion.  I used the time to discover that Freddie's does antibody tests.  I need to make an appointment.  Not this week though, because we've got things to do tomorrow and Thursday.

It was cold and windy again today, so I stopped at Dutch Brothers.  They gave me a free coffee for the card.  Unfortunately I think I'm going to have to give up coffee.  I've been experiencing tightness in the chest on and off since I drank it.  That hasn't happened in a while.

We stopped at BiMart for the shed stuff.  We also got a cool fishing pole toy for the cats.  Then we went to Safeway.  We got groceries and Chinese for lunch.  The post office had the CD coping softwarre I'd ordered.

When we got home we ate the Chinese.  Then I went to work with the CD copying software.  It took a long time to install.  I think they needed to install a lot of old Windows support software like DirectX 9.  It's an old program.   The conversion process was really slow also.  It took hours to convert 10 CD's.  I read a couple of magazines while it was being done.

When the conversion was done I put Ellen in the shower and had her caulk it.  Hopefully that will take care of the leaks.  We'll see.  When that was done I put the new book on the truck USB key.  Then I went out to the shed and installed the stuff I'd bought at BiMart.  It all worked great.

Dinner was leftover pizza.  After dinner was TV and some surfing.

Day 2021

How about that.  I finally got up to the current year.  I woke up, played games, and got up for breakfast and pet stuff about 9.  After that I worked some more on my email to Hooch.  It's making me feel much better.  Now all I have to do is find a place to give me an antibody test.

The weather was a little cold, very windy, and it rained on and off.  It was Sunday, so it was unlikely that we would shoot anyway.  Instead it was surfing, TV, and playing games.  I'm in this competition with a lot of people for a big prize.  I'm in first place right now and want to stay there.

I did get bored enough to go out to the shed.  My original plan was to add a shelf.  Instead I ended up adding a piece of pegboard so that I could hang up some more of the stuff that's been lying on the benches.  I also cut a piece of wood to block off one of the vents.  It faces the east and it's clear that water has been getting in.

I'm just about running out of things to do to the shed.  That's too bad, it's been fun.  The result is an amazing change from what it looked like when we got here.

Ellen fixed BLT's for dinner.  They're really good using the Halfway bacon.

The shower really leaked when we took showers.  We'll have to address that right away - like tomorrow.

I forgot to write this up yesterday, so I'm writing it a day late.  It's amazing how much difficulty I'm having remembering what I did the day before.  This doesn't bode well for my long term mental capacity.

Day 2020

I'm not sure when I woke up, but I finished playing games and got up a little before 9.  Then it was the usual pet stuff and breakfast.  After breakfast I went out and put the battery charger on the Audi.  I wanted to do it to test the charger and make sure the battery was fully charged.  The charger showed the battery was at 80% or so, so I left it on until the battery was fully charged.

Hooch's text messages have really been wearing on me.  So I decided to sit down and write him a long email explaining why I don't want the vaccine.  I'm using government data and peer reviewed studies to bolster my points.  I don't know if i will change anything, but it's making me feel better.

I worked on the write up until almost 1.  It takes a long time to research things and I'm not finished.  I wanted lunch, but not a sandwich.  So we went to the Italian place by the company stores.  It was takeout only.  Fuck them.  We went to the hamburger place next door instead.

After that we went to the company stores.  There are still empty places, but not as many as last fall.  We walked around and went through a few stores.  The only thing we bought was a baby Yoda at the build-a-bear place.  I've wanted one since I found out they would be selling them.  He even has a sound maker in him.  Squeeze his hand and he makes one of several baby Yoda sounds.

We stopped at the mailbox.  The covers for the trailer wheel zerks are in.  I could start greasing the bearings except that I want to talk with John about how to jack up the wheels.

We both spent the rest of the day playing games and watching TV.  Dinner was a frozen pizza.  It was actually really good.

Day 2019

I woke up about 7:30 and played games for an hour.  then it was pet stuff and breakfast.  I wanted to kill a little time, so I surfed for a while.

A little after 9 we left for errands.  We went to two pet stores.  One was a bust, but the second had Devon's chicken hearts.  I bought 3 bags.  They also had some kitty calming CBD that we bought for him.  The next stop was Roth's next door.  We need a whole lot of groceries.  We got orange juice and ingredients fo 4 or 5 dinners.

We stopped at Freddie's to buy a battery charger, but they don't carry them.  We got one at Wally World instead.  On the way to Wally World something hit the windshield and put a 7 inch crack in it centered in front of the steering wheel.  Fuck.  The cool thing was that we called the insurance while we were driving to the Keizer farm store.  It took an hour, but we're covered except for $100 deductible.  That's good, because a new windshield is $1,100.  They will come to our place to replace the window on Thursday.  That's a painless as it gets.

When we got home we watched TV, played games, and surfed.  I found some videos concerning natural immunity to COVID and the CDC's own Infection Fatality Rate numbers.  What research exists says that natural immunity is effective and long lasting.  The CDC numbers show that COVID wasn't much worse than 2020's seasonal flu.

Hooch is still jamming my text messages with "get a shot" crap.  The stuff I learned today solidifies my belief that getting it is not necessary.

Ellen fixed salmon and noodles for dinner.  It was really good.

Day 2018

A junk phone call woke me up at 7 and I couldn't get back to sleep.  So I played games for about an hour before getting up for breakfast and pet stuff.  It was 64 degrees outside so I wen out and cleaned the inside of the truck.  The stuff I used worked great.  It's really nice to have a spic and span interior.  It was looking kind of bad after almost 6 weeks on the road.

We had a 11:00 meeting with Gerry, so we spent the morning preparing.  I figured out what we were paying for the Intel stock.  It works out to about $30 per day.  Yikes.

We had a great time with Gerry.  He brought Travis.  We spent most of the time swapping stories.  Gerry confirmed my numbers, which made me feel great.  Of course he'd like to see us keep the money where it is, as he gets a little bit of the fees.  When he gets back I think I have a way where we both can win.

After lunch the four of us went shooting.  It was fun.  They had to leave halfway through.  We shot our 20 gauges.  Ellen is shooting great.  She's in danger of out shooting me.  I really need to work on my concentration.  It was sunny and hot.  We were tired by the time we got through.

The allergies hit e hard - sneezing and itchy eyes.  After we put everything away we went to Walgreen's so I could buy some eye medicine.  I bought three different kinds.

We went home and watched TV for the rest of the afternoon and evening.  I had a sandwich for dinner.

Day 2017

I woke up about 8 and played games until 9.  then it was pet stuff and breakfast.  It was fairly pleasant outside, so I decided to wash the truck.

I started to set things up while Ellen formatted the dash cam card.  Apparently that needs to be done every so often.  She looked at some of the video ad said it was boring.

I started by rinsing off the truck and Ellen started washing it.  While she did that I went inside and did more caulking in the shower.  It was an extreme pain in the ass.  The shower floor was still a little wet, it was cramped, hot, and generally uncomfortable.  Of course it was messy, too.  Hopefully what I did will fix the problem.

With the caulking done I went back outside.  Ellen was still washing, so I helped.  When that was done she dried the truck while I started vacuuming the inside.  When she finished she started waxing it.  I continued with cleaning the inside and the windows.  I couldn't wipe down the leather or doors because the cleaners we have need to be used in cool temperature.  By then it was in the high 80's.

I was going to use the big ladder, but that's when I discovered someone had stolen it.  That solves the mystery of the missing battery charger also.  I must have left it in the car port last fall.  So after I put everything away I went to BiMart to by another.  I took the opportunity to eat at AC/Greasy.

By then it was over 90.  I spent the rest of the afternoon surfing and playing games.  Dinner was a leftover hotdog and some fries from AC/Greasy.

After dinner Hooch started texting me about getting vaccinated.  I told him I'd consider it if an anti-body test showed I hadn't already had it.  He went on about getting it anyway and how I'm ignorant if I don't.  I just quit responding.

Day 2016

I woke up about 7:30 and played gamed for about an hour.  Then it was pet stuff and breakfast.  After breakfast we loaded up the truck and went to the laundromat.

I went to NAPA while Ellen did the wash and got some grease for the trailer bearings.  The next step will be doing them.  I'm not looking forward to the process.  When the wash was done we went to Wally World for groceries and TP.  We wanted to stock up on TP because Wally World is the only place that has it.

W stopped at DQ for lunch and then went home.  When we got home I continued to work on the shed.  finished patching the floor.  Then I moved stuff to the shelf I bought yesterday.  I then reorganized my work bench and the gun cleaning supplies.  The bench is a lot easier to work on now and the supplies are much easier to access.  That's all there is to do in the shed unless I decided to build another shelf.

It was hot today - upper 90's.  It was really hot in the shed.  I went back to the trailer to cool off and have something to drink.  I surfed for a while and then checked Amazon for delivery dates.  That's when I discovered that nothing had been ordered.  I tried 3 times to order the stuff.  Each time the website acted like I couldn't.  I finally had Ellen do it.

After that was a combination of TV, games, and surfing for the rest of the night.  Dinner was leftover DQ chicken and strawberry shortcake.  We're having shortcake just about every night.
