We woke up at 7, got up, did the pet stuff, had breakfast, and went to the club. We got there at 8 and the shooting didn't start until 9. We spent the time talking with another early bird who is doing the same thing that we are, traveling the country shooting.
We started shooting exactly at 9. Just as we finished the other two people in our squad arrived. They were from a town 50 miles away and had shot Staccato yesterday. The weather was cloudy and fairly cool. We had a good time. Ellen shot about the same as yesterday. I think that I did a little better today. There wasn't much of a turnout and we didn't have to wait anywhere.
When we were done we switched to 20 gauge. I was shooting pretty good until the next to the last station. Then I missed 5 of 8. There was no reason for it, the targets weren't that hard. Crap. After that we ate lunch - beef sandwiches. Abby got her share.
We were on our way back home by noon. We stopped on the way back and filled up the truck. Apparently the only diesel available in Brownwood is biodiesel. Crap again. We also stopped at Wally World so I could get something to put on the ground. I got two small blankets for a total of $5.
We were done so early that I decided to fix the Starlink cable. I sat inside and rested until 1:45 and then went out to work. The first step was removing the box. There were 6 bolts. They weren't hard to get to, but they were metric. I didn't have a wrench, so I had to use vice grips. That was a pain. The sun was out by then and it was hot and muggy. Of course I was working on the sunny side of the trailer.
After the box was out the hard part began. It took a while, but I managed to get the old cable removed. I didn't have a fish tape, so threading the new one into the cabinet was really difficult. I finally got it though. Then I had to got the cable through the hole in the floor. That was just as hard. The whole process also involved several trips outside for tools or to figure out plans. I got very hot and sweaty.
I had Ellen put weather stripping on the box while I squirted anti-rodent foam in the hole where the cable comes out. It was messy. I ended up wrecking one of the blankets and getting it on the cable and myself. It was a pain to get off. Thankfully I have GooGone.
The last step was reinstalling the box and running the cable through it. That worked really well. Even putting the tools away didn't take long. I really enjoyed throwing the old cable into the garbage can.
I was done at 4:45. I was really done. I was hot, tired, thirsty, and couldn't do anything except sit in the recliner and watch videos. Ellen had to feed the pets. Then she fixed sausage for dinner. After dinner she took Abby across the street to the park. I was too tired to go outside.
It's great to have the cable problem fixed. However I'm a little worried that I won't have enough energy to make the 350 mile trip to Amarillo. I'm sure that I'll be wasted when we get there.
