Day 3198

I woke up about 7:45 and played games for a little while.  Then it was up for cat food and Abby's walk.  There were some people shooting on the course so Abby couldn't see the pigeons.  Instead we walked all around the course so that she could spend a long time in the North field.

We ate breakfast when we got back to the trailer.  Then we put Abby in the car and drove to Hooch's.  We stopped briefly in Wilsonville so that I could get some water.

When we got to Hooch's we went out on the deck so we could talk while Rico and Abby played.  They really went at it.  After a few hours Hooch drove the four of us downtown to a collection of roach coaches.  We left Abby ad Rico on the deck.  The roach coach place was a really nice with the coaches, a covered seating area, a two story bar, and an observation/dining level on the third floor.  The food was very good, too.  I had some great pad thai.

We drove back.  Hooch and I went out on the deck with the dogs while Ellen and Martha started a puzzle.  In a little while we brought the dogs inside because it was very hot, high 90's.  We spent much of the rest of the evening surfing and talking.  We had pie and ice cream and a little while later went home.

Abby was great all the day except for getting out of control a couple of times in the house.

There were two football games today.  When we went up at 10AM I5 south was a parking lot from I205 to well past Wilsonville.  On the way back at 10PM there was a steady stream of cars northbound from the time we got on I5 until we got off of it.  I'm not sure why anyone would put up with that just to see a football game.

Day 3197

I woke up about 7:15.  I couldn't get back to sleep.  I played games for quite a while instead.  Eventually I got up for pet stuff.  Then we took Abby for her standard pigeon walk.  When we got back I had breakfast.  After a little surfing I went out to the shed to work on the Mojave Grom.

I finished modifying the front light.  To do it I had to fabricate 4 small metal squares to make up a back support.  The result works pretty good, but it took a lot of time to make.  At that point I quit because it was getting hot (eventually 98).

We needed to go to Wally World for several items.  On the way we stopped for fuel, the post office, and Bauman's.  We got corn, pie, and donuts at Bauman's to take to Hooch's tomorrow.  After Wally World we ate lunch at the golf course.  Then we got money at the bank and a decorative sack to put Martha's bird feeder in.

The mounting adapter for the new TV was at the post office, so when we got home I started to switch TV's.  The process was a complete cluster fuck.  The old TV came off easily.  Unfortunately the bolts for the adapter were too long.  I had to go out to the broiling shed (remember 98 degrees)  to grind down the 4 bots with the Dremel.  After we put the TV on the mount it turned out that the mount was too high.  I had to remove it from the wall and remount it lower.  Finally the TV was slanted when we put it back on.  It turned out that the mount plate wasn't firmly in the mount.  It took some time wrestling with a heavy TV to figure that out.

I put away the tools in the shed and packed up the documentation and stand for the old TV.  The search for that stuff took a while.  Then I went outside (remember 98 degrees) to modify the new TV's box to fit the older TV.  That was a half hour wasted.  I finally just partially put it in the box and put the box in the shed.

After that I was finally done.  After 2.5 to 3 hours I was hot and tired.  I got out a Mike's hard lemonade and drank it relatively quickly afterwards.  Ellen had got the TV partially working, so I watched videos.  It's definitely better than the old TV.

Dinner was a frozen thing.  After dinner was more videos, a little surfing, and an early bed time.

Day 3196

I woke up a little after 8 and fed the cats.  Then we took Abby for a walk.  We did the pigeon loop.  She performed as usual with long fast runs and mostly obedience.  We did have to zap her once when she was way out in the north field.

When we got home we had breakfast and surfed.  Then I went out to the shed.  I decided that the new Mojave Grom light was too big, so I started to modify it.  I used the Dremel to cut the case into pieces.  I still need to fabricate a new back plate, but it was time to go to the fair.

We left Abby at home.  The fair is no fun with a dog.

We started by going through the animal buildings.  We looked over goats, pigs, and draft horses.  Then we looked over the bunnies and assorted other small animals.  It was going to be hot, so we walked through all of the outside vendors.  We didn't see anything worth buying.

They were having a draft horse competition, so we watched that.  By then we were hungry, so we had $16 gyros for lunch.  After that we went through all  of the buildings looking at the crafts competitions, indoor vendors, and art competition.  We bought two hummingbird feeders, one for us and one for Martha.

The final activity was eating the traditional elephant ear.  It was good.

We got home about 4:30.  We were pretty tired.  Ellen said that we'd walked 12,000 steps.  I sat down for videos and ended up napping until dinner (frozen).

After dinner was more videos until an early bedtime.

Day 3195

I got up a little before 8 for pet stuff and breakfast.  Then I surfed waiting for Joe and his son to show up to grease the trailer wheels.

No one came at 9.  About 10 Joe called to say that they were loading up the tools.  While I was waiting I saw that Best Buy is selling an OLED TV that will fit in the trailer for $300 off.  I decided to get one.  I also took Abby for a short walk over to the clubhouse.  She ran all of the wy to the pigeons, but came back without being called.

Joe's son finally showed up sometime before 11.  He got right to work.  It's a long slow job and he did a good job.  As I watched him  crawl under the trailer to set the jacks and grease the zerks I was convinced that I'm too old for that shit.

My right hearing aid had stopped working so Ellen and I tried to figure out why while the trailer was being worked on.  We drew a blank.  I tried to call Costco twice, but no one answered.

Joe showed up after about 2 hours and we talked while his son worked.  His son finished up about 1:30 or 2.  Joe said it was $300 for the job.  I had Ellen write a check for $400 to his son.  As Joe was writing up the bill he discovered he'd left out the $27 for parts.  I gave him $40.

When they left I put the tire covers back on and raked the gravel to smooth it out.  Ellen put the lides back out.  Then we left for Costco.

Luckily we didn't have to wait when we got to Costco.  It turns out the speaker grill was clogged with wax.  The guy there showed me how to clean it.  Then we did a little shopping.

We stopped at Best Buy and bought the TV on the way home.  We also stopped at the pet shop an bought enough packages of dried cat food to last until we're back in Texas.  The truck went into regen while we were going home.  I didn't even notice until it was almost finished.  The ash level went down to 0%.

The last stops were for fuel and the post office.  The fuel stop is probably the last one I will do with the truck before we fill up to leave.

When we got home I unpacked the new TV.  The good news is that the connections will hook up easily.  The bad news is that the mount won't fit without an adapter plate.  I ordered one from Amazon, but it won't be here until Saturday.

Dinner was a frozen thing.  After dinner it was videos until I got bored.  Then it was surfing.  The state fair is going on.  Hopefully we can go tomorrow.

Day 3194

I woke up at 8 and played games for a while.  Then it was up for pet stuff and breakfast.  I loaded the laundry into the car and Ellen left for the laundromat.

I surfed until Abby's hour after eating was over.  Then I took her for a walk.  It didn't start out well.  She ran all the way to the Heitloff's and wouldn't listen to the whistle.  I finally zapped her hard to get her to comeback.  When we got to station 13 there were people shooting there.  I walked Abby passed them and then we walked all the way around the course.  Abby didn't get to see the pigeons, but she did a lot of mileage in the north field.  I did have to zap her a couple of more time though.  All in all she put in a pretty bad performance today.

When we got back I went to the shed to work on the cars.  I put yesterday's tools away and then got out the Typhon Grom.  I noticed that the body was getting worn in a couple of places, so I reinforced it with Gorilla tape.  Then I remounted the ESC with stronger mounting tape.  I was going to put red LED's in the back lights, but the ones I had were the wrong size.  I gave up and ordered new lights from Amazon.  Finally I took apart one of the Mojave Grom's shocks.  It's full of oil, but obviously it isn't thick enough.

By then Ellen was home.  I went back inside, did a little surfing, and had lunch.  After that I switched to videos which lead to a nap.

When I woke up I called Joe.  He said he'll be here at 9 tomorrow.  Then it was more videos until dinner.  Ellen fixed BBQ chicken.  Form her point of view it was too dry - I thought it was perfect.

After dinner was more videos.

Monday, August 26, 2024

Day 3193

I woke up about 8 and played games for a while.  then it was up for pet stuff and breakfast.  We fed breakfast to Abby, so we surfed for an hour until she could run.

We took Abby on the standard pigeon tour.  She ran a long way out into the north field when we got there.  She didn't come back after a coupled of whistles, so I zapped her.  Then she came back immediately.  She didn't seem overly tired when we got back to the trailer so I threw some bumpers for her.  I stopped when I was tired, not her.

When that was done I went out to the shed to attach the mounts for the Mojave Grom front lights.  It took a while to do.  I had to cut "washers" from a piece of a fast food cup.  Then I drilled holes in them.  Finally I had to drill out the mounting hole in the light.  After all that was done I attached the mounts.  That was when dummy me decided to test the light.  It didn't work.  CHEAP CHINESE SHIT

I went inside and ordered another light from Amazon.  It costs 10 times as much for the same thing, but I bet it works. I also ordered magnets so I can eliminate a wire from the chassis to the body.  By then it was getting hot.

I went back inside and surfed for a while.  Then we went to Fireman's in Keizer for lunch.  We chose it because Abby could come, and it wasn't hamburgers.  The sandwiches were OK, but the drink machine just had Coke, everything else wasn't working.

We stopped at Roth's on the way home for milk and orange juice.  When we got home I surfed for a little while and then switched to videos.  That got boring, so I got the Mojave Grom body from  the shed and reinforced it with Gorilla tape.

Ellen fixed BBQ hamburgers for dinner.  After dinner was videos.

Sunday, August 25, 2024

Day 3192

We woke up at 7:15 and got up to do pet stuff and have breakfast.  Then we drove to TCGC.  It was sunny and a lot warmer today.

We shot with the same guys that we shot with yesterday.  Abby was good.  She had her pre-shoot run on the skeet field.  Then she tagged along with us.

I shot a little better than I did yesterday, but I still pretty much sucked.  I'm no definitely a B class shooter.  We ate lunch there and then left.

We stopped at Home Depot after the shoot to get stuff for new barrel cups on the gun cart.  I was going to get two caps and a short length of pipe.  The caps were $10 a piece and the pipe was $18.  FUCK Biden.  I didn't buy anything and just went home.

At least there weren't any idiots at the Aurora exit.  We actually made pretty good time.  We stopped at Wally World and I bought two cheap plastic glasses for $2 a piece.

When I got home I used the glasses to make new barrel cups.  That involved cutting them to size, removing the old cups, and putting the cup interiors in the new glasses.  It all went pretty smoothly, but it took a lot of time.

It was getting hot in the afternoon (81).  I started to watch videos and ended up taking a 1.5 hour nap.  When I woke up we had leftovers for dinner.

After dinner I took Abby for a walk by myself.  We did the standard pigeon coop loop  She had a great time and covered a lot of ground very fast.

When I got back I dumped the tanks.  ThenI surfed for the rest of the evening.

Saturday, August 24, 2024

Day 3191

I woke up a little before 8 and got up for pet stuff and breakfast.  After that we put the guns in the car (everything else was there already) and went to TCGC.

We made good time.  We got to the club in about 40 minutes.  I unloaded everything and took Abby for a walk around the skeet fields while Ellen got us signed up.  There was plenty of time to do that before the safety meeting.

The weather was OK.  It was cloudy with occasional short periods of sunshine.

I sucked shooting the first three stations.  I really should shoot some practice before the start of a tournament.  After that I steadily improved.  I shot 19 of the last 20 targets.  A nice solid B class score.  Overall I think it was the best tournament Reggie has ever set.

We finished a little after noon and ate lunch there.  Abby was great the whole time ith the exception ofa little whining.  The new velcro straps kept her ear protection on.

The traffic was pretty heavy on the way home.  Unfortunately it was also comprised of idiots.  There was a traffic jam at the Aurora exit.  Twice it came to a complete stop.  All over a small change in the lanes.  The Woodburn exit was also jammed up with people going to the factory stores.  Fortunately I wanted to go to the hardware store, so I could stay out of it.

The hardware store didn't have what I needed.  I'll need to go to Lowe's.  We just went home and rested for a little bit.

Abby had had lunch, so she couldn't run.  We walked her over to the clubhouse.  She needed the heal practice anyway.  They were supposed to be having a Blazer thing today, but I didn't see anything.  We returned home.  Ellen watched chick flicks and I surfed.

Eventually the flicks were over and we watched videos for the rest of the evening.

Friday, August 23, 2024

Day 3190

I woke up about 7:30 and played games for a while.  Then it was up for pet stuff and breakfast.  After that we took Abby for her walk.

The walk wasn't a long one because there were a lot of people her early.  Apparently it was some sort of corporate event, complete with a tent, prizes, and BBQ.  When we got back I threw Abby bumpers to make up for the short walk.

I called Joe and left a message.  There was more surfing until it was time for lunch.  Ellen ordered sandwiches from Abby's (the pizza place).  We stopped first at the hardware store to get a parts picker to use when Abby drops toys behind the recliners.

After lunch Joe called.  The Audi was ready, so we went there to pick it up.  I stopped at the mailbox on the way back.  The parts from China were there.

When I got home I took the parts to the shed and started installing them.  Putting the extensions on the Typhon Grom should have been easy, but it wasn't.  I ended up having to drill out the centers of both the wheels and the extensions.  The result looks good though.

After that I installed the rear light in the Mojave Grom.  That was an easy and relatively quick task.  The front light wasn't.  I had a hard time figuring out where to place it and how to attach it.  Eventually I came up with a plan.  I fabricated the mounts, but couldn't figure out how to attach it.  After a lot of thought I figured out a way.  It was dinner time though, so I left it for another day.

I loaded up the car with ammo and the gun cart.  Then I went to the trailer for dinner.  Ellen fixed sausage and tater tots.

Ellen was watching chick flicks when before dinner and continued after.  I surfed all evening.

Thursday, August 22, 2024

Day 3189

I woke up about 8 and played games until 8:30.  Then I got up for pet stuff and breakfast.  After that we took the Audi to Joe's.

We went back to the club and took Abby for her walk.  We did the standard walk past the pigeons and she did her standard mult-mile run.  When that was finished we got back in the truck and went to Target to get my drugs.  Then we went to the pet store to get more dog food.  The last stop was In-n-Out for lunch.  There was a long line of cars, but we just parked and went inside.

When we got home I went out to the shed to program the Mojave Grom.  It's a clumsy process, but I got through it.  That pretty much finishes the RC car work until the stuff from China shows up.  Apparently it hasn't cleared US customs yet.

I also sealed the hole in the trailer compartment hole with Gorilla tape.  Hopefully that will fix it until we get home, Although I might try something better next week.

I went back inside and surfed for quite a while.  Ellen was watching chick flicks.  Eventually my ass got sore and I sat in the recliner playing games.

I switched to videos when the chick flick was over.  Dinner was leftovers.  After dinner was more videos that turned to surfing when I got bored.

Wednesday, August 21, 2024

Day 3188

I woke up a little before 8 and played games for quite a while.  I got up after Ellen, so she had to feed the animals.

Today was a sewer day, so we couldn't do anything.  I spent some time surfing and then went out to work on the Typhon Grom.  I put the new axles on it.  After I figured out how to do it, they went in pretty easily.  Figuring it out too quite a while though.  They are completely non-standard.  The new ones are standard.

When I was done I went back inside I ordered some hex extensions for the Typhon.  That was the original reason for changing out the axles.

I took Abby out and threw some retrieves for her.  There was no walk for her and she was VERY bored.

The rest of the day was surfing and videos.  The sewer guy didn't show up until after 4.  It was actually a woman that I hadn't met before.

We needed groceries, so I wanted to go to the grocery.  The bathroom floor was a little wet.  That's when Ellen decided to tell me that the kitchen sink leaked.  I emptied everything in the cabinet and looked inside.  The drain pipe had come unconnected.  I reconnected it.  Then everything that had been in the cabinet had to be dried out and put back.  After that we went to Safeway.

We bought a pizza at Safeway.  Ellen put it on the BBQ for dinner.  I called Joe.  We'll take the Audi in tomorrow.

After dinner was videos.

Tuesday, August 20, 2024

Day 3187

We woke up at 7 and got up immediately.  I stripped the bed and loaded the laundry elements into the car.  Then Ellen left for the laundromat.  I fed the cats and then took Abby for her walk.

We did the pigeon, north field, pigeon loop again.  Abby did really well.  I didn't have to whistle aor call once.  She just kept track of me and followed as necessary.

When we got back I surfed until it was time to feed Abby.  Ellen came home about that time.  Then we had a little time to continue surfing until it was time to leave to go to the vet.

The trip up was quick and uneventful.  The vet appointment was, too.  $220 and about half an hour and we were on the way to the pet store.  We bought some canned cat food and then went to John and Patty's.  We stopped at DQ for some lunch and Safeway for some dessert first.

John was busy with a project, so we sat on the deck and talked for hours.  Eventually John joined us.  We ate snacks and drank.  Patty fixed tacos and the dessert was a hit.  Abby had a great time with their dogs.  The yard rabbit I bought Patty was a hit.

We continued talking until about 7:30.  The we had an uneventful drive home.

When we got hoe we made the bed, fed the cats, and watched videos until time for bed.

Monday, August 19, 2024

Day 3186

I woke up about 8 and played games for a while.  When we got up we fed the cats and took Abby for a walk.  It was just like yesterday.  We went all of the way over to the north field, stopping at the pigeons on the way out and on the way back.  She covered a whole lot of ground in the north field, too.

When we got home I called Joe and left a message.  Ellen called the vet and made an appointment to get Abby's eyes checked.  Then we had breakfast.'

Joe called back and said he would call me when he had the parts.  He didn't call back the whole day.

I surfed the morning away.  I should have gone out and worked on the Mojave Grom, but I expected Joe's call.  I was going to get the parts for the Typhon Grom at the post office when he called, but he never did.

The day devolved into more surfing, videos, and a couple of short naps.  I just didn't have any ambition.

Ellen fixed stir fry for dinner.

Sunday, August 18, 2024

Day 3185

I woke up a little before 8 and played games for a while.  Then it was up for cat stuff.  Then we took Abby for a walk.

Abby had a great time.  There was no one here, so she got to got see the pigeons.   A couple even flew for her.  Then she got to do a really long run in the north field.  She came back twice from long excursions without being called.  She must have run at least a mile in the field.  On the way back we took her by the pigeons again.

When we got back I had breakfast and dumped the tanks.  Then I did some surfing.  Abby finally got breakfast at 11, but she didn't eat any of it.  The eye goop that started a few days ago is getting pretty bad.  We'll call the vet tomorrow.

Ellen watched chick flicks and I surfed until after lunch.  Then I went to the shed to work on the Mojave Grom.  I thought that it would be easy to get everything done, but it turned out to be time consuming.  I had to fabricate a mount for the ESC.  I used some high density foam packing material.  Of course the Dremel was involved.  It turned out well though.

I got everything mounted in the vehicle without any more issues.  The motor fan went on easily, but the ESC fan required me to drill out the mounting holes.  I also had to replace the power wire connector.  It wasn't hard to do, but it took some time.

The only thing left to do is program the ESC.  I can't use the programmer, so it's a pain in the ass.  I put that off and went inside the trailer instead.  I'll put lights on it if they ever get here from China.  It's been 12 days since I ordered them and they are still in transit to the US.

I did some more surfing.  That eventually turned into videos.

Ellen fixed BBQ hamburgers and corn on the cob.

After dinner was more videos.

Saturday, August 17, 2024

Day 3184

I woke up at 8 and played games for about an hour.  Then it was up for pet stuff and breakfast.  After that we surfed for an hour until Abby could go for her walk.

There were a lot of people shooting this morning.  The parking lot was 3/4 full.  Abby got in a good run though.  We walked over to the far corner and I let Abby run around the north field.  She must have covered at least a mile just there.  Twice she came back to me from a long way away without me having to whistle her.

When we got back Ellen called the pet store people.  They had the dry cat food, so we drove there to get it.  From there we went to Mickey D's for lunch.  We wanted to try their $5 special.  It wasn't all that good.  We also stopped at the farmer's market for some more strawberries and peaches.

When we got home I went back to surfing.  That got boring, so I went out to the shed to work on the new Grom.  I took the body apart to see if I could reduce some weight.  I couldn't without weakening it, so I just reassembled it.  Then I started to convert it to brushless.

I removed all of the electronics, cut the servo mounts off the ESC, and used them to remount the servo.  I ran into trouble mounting the new motor.  It had limited compatibility with the motor mount.  I got it to work eventually, but it was a battle.  By then it was 5 and I was tired, so I didn't do anything else.

By the time it was finished there was a pretty big thunderstorm going on.  Nothing like Texas, but pretty severe for Oregon.  I had to walk back to the trailer in the rain.  The heavy rain continued for an hour or more after that.  I watched videos.

Dinner was something frozen.

After dinner was some more videos until I got bored and switched to surfing.

Friday, August 16, 2024

Day 3183

I woke up a little before 8 and played games for a while.  Then it was up for pet stuff and breakfast.  After that it was chores.  I dumped the tanks and brought in food for the pets.  Then I unloaded the truck.  It took a while to put everything away.

After that it was a little surfing until it was time to take Abby for her walk.  She did her usual fast runs all over the place.  We went all the way to the north field so that she could run around it.

When we got back it was time for Abby to get a bath.  She smelled like a pond dog.  Then we surfed until lunch.

Joe called just as we we sitting down to lunch.  When we were done we went over to his shop and picked up the truck.  We'll leave off the Audi on Monday.  Then we came home.

Ellen watched chick flicks and I surfed until dinner time.  I bought some axles for the Typhon Grom so that I can widen the track.

After dinner Ellen switched to videos and I kept surfing.

Eventually I went out to the shed to unpack the Mojave Grom.  It's got a very heavy body.  I'm going to take it apart and try to lighten it.  I also discovered that the battery that comes with it will ONLY work with the ARRMA charger.  The one I modified is junk.  That's all I did, I might work on it tomorrow.

Abby was very tired all afternoon.

Thursday, August 15, 2024

Day 3182

I woke up at 8:40.  I'd wanted to wake up at 8, so it was up for pet stuff and breakfast.  After that I loaded all of the stuff into the car I put the car batteries on the charger and then surfed until it was time to walk Abby.

Abby's walk was a short one, just up to the trailers.  She covered a lot of ground though.  We left for Hooch's place as soon as we got back.

I stopped at the post office on the way.  The new Grom was there.  Yeah

The trip up was a smooth one with everyone ignoring the speed limits.  We got to Hooch's a little after 11.  We adjourned to the deck where the dogs went at it.  Abby and Rico rough housed for almost 2 hours.  I felt sorry for Rowdy.  He was just too old for that shit.

We put the dos in the truck and went to the mad greek's for lunch.  It was very good.  After that we went to PCC.  Hooch and Ellen shot arrows while I played with RC cars in the parking lot.  The MT10 is perfect.  There's no need to do anything to it unless something breaks.  I ran the Typhon Grom on 2S.  It was very fast.  With the new tires it has a tendency to traction roll.  I'll get some new axles and extend it's width.

We took the dogs to the dog park when Hooch and Ellen were done.  They had a great time running around.  Eventually they seemed to run out of gas so we went home.  Hooch made some pop corn and we talked.  Abby and Rico kept playing, but at least they left Rowdy more or less alone.

We went to Geraldi's for dinner.  We took two cars so Ellen and I could head home afterwards.  The food was great and there was a lot of it.

The drive home was fast and uneventful.  I left everything in the car and will unload it tomorrow.

I did a little searching for car parts and then went to bed.

Wednesday, August 14, 2024

Day 3181

I woke up about 8, played games, and then got up for pet stuff and breakfast.  Following a little surfing we took Abby for her walk.

There were a lot of people shooting this morning, so we only took Abby over to the freeway.  She jumped into the pond on the way back, so I decided to try out the doggy life vest.  Unfortunately she still refused to swim.

The rest of the morning and early afternoon were taken up by surfing, videos, and a nap.  About three we decided to go to the grocery store to buy some things that we forgot to buy yesterday.  I also cashed in a $5 check I won at the shoot last weekend.  The last stop was Papa Murphy's for a take and bake pizza.

When we got home it was more videos until dinner time.  Ellen fixed the pizza on the BBQ.  It was much better than a frozen one.

After dinner was videos and surfing.

Tuesday, August 13, 2024

Day 3180

I woke up about 7 and played games because I couldn't go back to sleep.  We got up about 8 for pet stuff and breakfast.  After that I loaded up the car and we went to the laundromat.  For some reason I wasn't feeling very well.

Washing the clothes was uneventful.  I stopped at Dutch Bros afterwards to get some caffeine.  I hoped it would make me feel better.  I helped a little.

We stopped at the post office on the way home.  Ellen wanted to go to Jones Farm, so we did that too.

When we got home I left a message for Joe about working on the truck.  Then we took Abby for her walk.  We met the worker's dogs again and they all had a great time.  We also took her for the rest of a walk around the course.

When we got back I started looking at videos.  Thee was a short nap in there also.  Joe called and said to bring the truck over in the late afternoon.  We took it over a little before 5.  After dropping it off we had dinner at the hamburger place.  Two hamburgers, two drinks, and a side of fries was almost $23.  FUCK BIDEN.

When we got back I dumped the tanks and watched videos.  Eventually I got tired of them and went back to surfing.

A side note: Intel has screwed the pooch.  It's price is half what it was a year ago and they aren't going to pay dividends anymore.  The question is do we ride it into the ground or cut our loses.

Monday, August 12, 2024

Day 3179

I woke up about 7:30 and played games fora while. Then it was up for pet stuff and breakfast.  We fed the dog so we had to wait an hour before she could run.  We spent it surfing.

Because it was Monday we could walk all around the course.  We cut by the pigeon coop to get Abby excitement.  The birds were flying and she had a great time chasing themcat food..  Once again she was great on watching where we were and listening to the whistle.  At one point we were at the pond and she was at the tower.  I blew the whistle twice and she came back.

When we were done I changed from sweats to pants and we left for errands.  We drove down to the pet store for cat food.  Then it was Safeway for groceries followed by DQ for lunch.  The final errand was the farm store for corn, strawberries, and some vegetables.  We also picked up packages at the post office.  Abby went with us because it was a cool, cloudy, day.  It didn't get up to 75 the whole day.

When we got home we did some cleanup.  The trailer was getting pretty grungy.  I called Joe.  We'll take the truck in tomorrow.

I ddi some surfing and then switched to videos, which turned into a nap.  When I woke up it was more videos until dinner.  Ellen fixed stir fry.

After dinner was more videos.  Abby was pretty wiped out after her nap and slept for most of the afternoon and evening except for a short attack of the zoomies after dinner.

Day 3178

We got up at 7:15 and got ready to shoot.  It was cool and cloudy, 60 degrees.  I put on jeans for the first time in along time.  After pet stuff and breakfast we left to shoot.

Dave did a good job with the targets.  I shot OK - not good, but not bad.  All in all it was fun.

When we were done I switched the ammo in the cart to 12 ga because Ellen was shooting at 11.  I also finished a couple of loose ends like cleaning the razor.  Then it was surfing.  Again I really enjoy how the Ukrainians are bashing the Russians right now.  I hope what they are doing is successful.

After Ellen left to shoot I took Abby for a walk.  It was another truncated walk because of the shooting.  When we got back I spent some time working on the toilet seat.  The two parts were sticking together - very annoying.  A combination of 409, silicon spray, and gun cleaner along with elbow grease and patience got it back to normal.

I did some more surfing and then went over to the clubhouse with Abby for lunch.  I'm afraid I'm getting tired of the roach coach's food.

On the way back Abby started to play with one of the worker's dogs.  Then the other worker brought his dog.  Finally a shooter brought his over.  Abby ran miles with all of them.

When we got home I sat down to watch videos.  That turned into a long nap.  When I woke up I switched to surfing.  I started to feel sick, so I went to bed.  Luckily I felt better after a couple of hours and got up for dinner.

I finished up the day with more videos.

Day 3177

I woke up about 7:30 and got up for pet stuff.  After that I went back to bed and Ellen went to shoot.  I dozed for a while and played games.  Then I got up and took Abby for a walk.

The walk was somewhat truncated because there was the FITASC tournament going on and it was crowded.  Abby still got some miles in though.

I had breakfast when we got back.  Then I left for BiMart and the gas station.  I bought a tarp repair kit, some Velcro, and friction tape at BiMart.

When I got home I took the cover off the sofa and took it to the shed.  I used the tarp repair kit to install 4 grommets in it.  Then I took it back to the trailer and put it back on the sofa.  I attached the top to the wall using the grommets.  I was going to use the Velcro also, but I bought the wrong type.  That was because I hadn't brought my glasses and couldn't read the label.  CRAP.

I tried to put the friction tape on the new shower sprayer, but it wouldn't stick.  CRAP 2.

I got on Amazon and ordered grip tape and the right size Velcro.  I also ordered a pinion gear for the new Grom.  Then I went to Amain and ordered the Mojave Grom.  Amazon wouldn't deliver one for 2 weeks.

That pretty much ended and productive activity.  I spent the rest of the day either surfing or watching videos.  It's fun to see that the Ukrainians are giving the Russians a bloody nose.  Who knows how it will turn out?

Ellen fixed steak and corn on the BBQ for dinner.  It was REALLY good.

Day 3176

I woke up a little after 7 and played games until 8  Then it was up for pet stuff and breakfast.  After that we took Abby for a walk.

She was doing her normal hard running.  We walked by the worker's dog and the two of them covered a lot of ground.  Abby was faster, so she played the "just run fast enough to stay in front" game with the other dog.  They also both went over to the pigeon coop and played chase the pigeons.  The other dog would bash the coop to make the birds fly.

When we got back Ellen went out to clean her gun.  I started some minor jobs.  I installed the new shower washer.  I think it's going to work well.  Then I got the step stool and cleaned the kitchen fan screen.  It was VERY greasy.  It took a lot of 409 and scrubbing to get it clean.  Finally I connected up the power train for the Grom I'm planning on buying.  I'd been worried because the ESC came from AliExpress opened, but everything worked fine.

After that it was surfing until Ellen got back from gun cleaning.  Then we went out for errands and lunch.  The stops were post office, golf course (lunch), and Safeway - in that order.

We went back home and I switched to videos and a nap.

Dinner was a leftover sandwich from yesterday  After dinner was a video/surfing mix.

Day 3175

We woke up at 7:30, played games for a while, and then got up for pet stuff (cats only).  Then we took Abby for a walk.  We walked to the freeway and back.  She covered a lot of ground.  She covered more when we met one of the worker's dog on the way back.  They chased each other around for quite a while.

When we came back we had breakfast.  Then we loaded up the car with stuff for John and Patty and left.  There were a lot of stops on this trip.  The first was Bauman's for some corn, peaches, and donuts for John and Patty.  Then it was off to I5 and north.

We made great time.  1 hour after we got back from Abby's walk we were at Tualatin.  We continued on to the vet.  We got Devon's pills and fed Abby breakfast in the parking lot.  Then we went to the Japanese grocery for BBQ pork.  The next stop was Bevell's to pick up Ellen's ring.  It looks great.  After that it was Dutch Bros. and the John and Patty's.

We got there a little after 11.  Everyone went out on the back porch and talked.  We spent hours there.  It was fun solving the world's problems.  Mid afternoon Ellen and Patty went off to buy sandwiches.  When they got back we went inside to eat because it was getting hot for the Oregonians.

That turned into watching a football games and some weirdo videos that I wanted to show them.  Eventually we were back out on the porch talking.  That lasted until about 8:15 when we headed home.

Traffic was fairly light until we passed the river.  Then it got very heavy for that time of night.  It was still moving a 10+ over the speed limit.

We stopped at the post office and got some packages from China.  When we got home I fed the cats and opened the packages.  The shrink wrapping on the ESC I ordered had been opened.  I'm not sure what that means.  I'll test it out tomorrow.

After a short surfing session it was off to bed.

Day 3174

We got up at 6:45 (not a typo).  That's when the sewer guy arrived.  We scrambled out of bed.  Of course I hadn't strung out the hose the night before.  That meant it took a little longer than usual, but just by a few minutes.

After that it was pet stuff and breakfast.  Abby didn't get any because we decided to take her shooting.  We tied her up and made her wear her ear protection when we were shooting.  She got to run between stations.  She still managed to get a lot of miles in.

When we were finished we went back to the trailer and finished the normal morning stuff then it was surfing until noon.  We needed some groceries and going to the post office.  We also needed lunch.  We ate at the golf course.  Then it was groceries and the post office.

After that it was back home for more surfing, some videos, and a nap.  Abby was wiped out - she'd gone a long way.  Also we finally remembered to feed her breakfast.

Dinner was leftovers followed by more videos.

Day 3173

I woke up about 7:30 and played games for a short while. Then I got up for pet stuff and breakfast.  After that I loaded up the car with the laundry and the garbage.  I took the car to the dumpster and dumped the garbage.  Then I went back to the trailer.

Ellen took the car to the laundromat.  I planned to stay at the trailer in case Joe showed up to grease it (he never came today).

I figured that taking Abby for a walk wasn't bad, so we walked around the club.  It was a nice morning, sunny but not too hot.  Abby had a great time running.  I forgot the whistle.  I only had to use the zapper once, when she found two dogs at the Heitlof's to play with.

When we got back I surfed.  Ellen called and said that she was bringing back lunch (Chinese).

After lunch I watched videos and had a nap.  When I woke up it was more videos until I got sick of them.  I switched to surfing for the rest of the day.

Day 3173

I woke up about 8 and played games for a while.  Then it was up for pet stuff and breakfast.  After breakfast I got out the shooting stuff and we went to the course.  Abby stayed at home.

It was a nice morning to go shooting. It was about 70 when we started, and got warmer.  We were done before it was too warm.  Eventually it got into the mid 90's.  I started out shooting like shit.  Fortunately I got better.  I think that if I want to shoot a good score in competition I should shoot a little practice before hand.

I dumped the tanks when we got back.  Then I surfed.  About noon we went out to get the mail and some sandwiches at Domino's.  There were several packages, including one from China.  It had made it to Gervais in 7 days.  Amazing.

After lunch I continued surfing until my ass couldn't stand the kitchen chair any more.  I switched to videos which - wait for it - turned into a short nap.

Dinner was something frozen.  There's still BBQ fish left, but I'm not up to fish 3 days in a row.

After dinner was boats.  I watched videos about buying big motor craft - about 60 feet.  It turns out care and feeding for one of them would run about 50K to 70K a year, just taking it out 4 or 5 times.  That's a big hole in the water to throw money into.

Day 3172

I woke up about 8, played games for a little while, and then got up for pet stuff and  breakfast.  After that we took Abby for a walk.

They were having a outdoors thing for "people of color".  Apparently it's sporting clays today and hunting at EE Wilson later.  We talked to them for a while and then continued over to station 10.  We let Abby run in the mowed field and then went back to the clubhouse.  When we got there Ellen volunteered to teach.  I stayed out of it - I'm the wrong skin color.

I took Abby back to the trailer.  We stopped at the pond.  Jim had his GSP.  I tried to use him to get Abby to swim - no luck.

Eventually we went back to the trailer.  I surfed and Abby slept.  Ellen was gone for hours.  I had lunch and continued surfing.

Ellen finally returned.  I was bored with surfing and switched to videos.

Dinner was leftovers.  After dinner was more videos.  Tonight's subject was boat renovation.

Day 3171

I woke up a little before 8, played games, and then got up for pet stuff and breakfast.  After that I surfed until an hour was up.  Then it was time to take Abby for a walk.

She had her usual great time running around.  There were a lot of people at the club because of a Helice tournament.  We didn't watch.  We did meet the Heitloff's and talked to them for a while while Abby and Jackson played.  The last stop was the pond.  Abby would go in after sticks, but she wouldn't swim.

I really didn't feel like doing anything today.  So I didn't.  The whole day was a little surfing and a lot of videos.  I may have taken a short nap.

My big accomplishment for the day was killing 9 flies.  Most of them were with the Nerf gun.  It seemed like every time we opened the door more came in.

Ellen fixed salmon and corn on the BBQ.  It was great again.

Day 3170

I woke up about 8, played games, and then got up for pet stuff and breakfast.  After a little surfing I went out to the shed and got the MT10.

The MT10 is a whole different animal at100% rather than 25%.  It does wheelies on command and is very fast.  Abby heard it in the trailer and demanded to come out.  Ellen let her out.  Abby quickly learned that the MT10 is MUCH faster than she is.  She chased it for a while, then I started chasing her with it.  She ran over and hid by Ellen.

When the battery ran out I took the MT10 back to the shed and put it away.  Then I soldered the connectors to the charging wires I started yesterday.  It was somewhat a pain in the ass, but not a huge one.  When I was finished it was getting hot, so I went back to the trailer.

I surfed for a while and then had lunch.  Then we went for groceries and to cash a check from the last shoot.  I won Lewis.  After we got back it was some more surfing followed by videos and the inevitable nap.  When I woke up it was more videos until dinner.  Ellen fixed pork shops.

After dinner I watched videos, mainly music videos.  I'm tired of political ones and current events.  Also I'm liking the reprogrammed hearing aids.  They are making life much better.

Day 3169

I woke up a little after 7 ad played games for a while.  Then it was up for pet stuff and breakfast.  After that it was surfing until time to go to Costco.

We got there a little before 10.  I was the first appointment, so I didn't have to wait long.  It only took a few minutes for the lady to fix my hearing aid.  NO MORE BUZZING.

We went around Costco and bought a few things, mainly water and food items.  We also got some fuel.

I wanted to eat lunch at McMeniman's, but it was too early.  We stopped at Ace to kill time.  They had a huge BBQ area.  We got a couple of items.  After that we went to lunch.  The food was just the same style as I remembered.  They had a mango beer though, which was really good.  The prices were very high.

When we were done we drove back north to the post office.  Then it was home.  By then it was hot, over 90.  Eventually it got to 98.  We took Abby for a walk anyway.  We didn't get any farther than the clubhouse.  It was OK for Abby though because on the way back she met a couple of dogs to play with.  She also jumped into the pond, but I couldn't get her to swim.

We were all hot and tired by the time we got back.  The rest of the afternoon and evening was videos (and a short nap).
