I only turned over and slept for half an hour after the alarm went off. Then I woke up and surfed for an hour. The animals were happy when I got up and did the pet stuff and had breakfast.
I'd already decided that new year's eve was going to be a do nothing day. The closest thing I had to an accomplishment was taking out the garbage and walking the dog to the mailbox.
The whole day was spent surfing and watching TV. I watched the Huskies lose to Alabama. I also watched a lot of remodeling shows. Ellen spent the whole day watching stuff on her laptop.
About 8 we went out and set off the fireworks I bought for Christmas. It was the perfect day for that. In the morning it had rained, so everything was wet. Then it had warmed up and it was 65 when we went out at night.
After the fireworks there was more TV and then bed. Other people's fireworks have been going off for hours. I expect it will continue. Some of the explosions have been quite impressive.

Day 448
I'm improving. I went back to sleep after the alarm went off, but I only slept for anther 45 minutes. I got up and it was cold, mid 40's. So I went back to bed and surfed. I surfed until about 9:30 and then got out of bed. I didn't really want to but yoiu can't spend your whole life in bed.
After the pet stuff and breakfast it was more surfing. I basically surfed until noon. It was too cold to do anything else.
After lunch we went out to the post office and to run the dog. We also needed a few things at HEB. The dog was first. She did 25 retrieves and didn't really want to quit. She didn't complain much when we did though. After HEB and the post office we decided to go to the yuppie grocery for some coffee and a new year's chocolate cake.
As we turned off Ben White the dog got excited. She got more excited the closer we got to the doggie bakery. I mean she started half a mile or more away from the place. We had to stop at the bakery and buy her a couple of small treats. Then we went to the grocery and got the cake and coffee.
The last stop was Harbor Freight where I bought a couple of clamps for the new reloading (shooting) table.
When we got home I went out to the garage and did my exercises.
The rest of the day was mostly surfing. Ellen was watching a couple of movies that i would occasionally listen to.

Day 447
I woke up with the alarm and turned over. I didn't really plan on going back to sleep, but suddenly it was 9:15. I surfed for awhile and then got up to do the pet stuff and have breakfast.
It was a cold morning (50's) with a strong wind. So there was no incentive to go outside. Instead I surfed. A little after 1 we decided to go out. I wanted to get a tree trimmer for the one we broke, have lunch, and go to the post office. Lucy wanted to run.
We stopped at Lowe's first. They had two models. I bought the more expensive one. I don't want to have to mess with a broken one again. Then we stopped at Longhorn for lunch. It was cool, so there was no problem leaving the dog in the car.
After lunch we made a stop at the post office. For the first time in a long time there was no line at the package window. Of course we didn't have any packages.
The last stop was the school so Lucy could run. She did 25 retrieves. That was more than I expected given how tired she was yesterday.
When we got home I had to try out the new trimmer. I cut the branches of the tree in front that overhung the house. It worked like a champ. Because it is longer than the old one I didn't need the ladder. I also sawed through a 1.5 inch branch on the tree by the urple bush. The new saw made easy work of it. I not sure I could have cut it at all with the old one.
After that I did my exercises and went inside to take a shower.
The evening was watching a movie and an episode of Dark Matter.

Day 446
I turned over and slept until 8:10 this morning. I figured that was OK since I went to bed at 12. I surfed for awhile and then got bored. I should have gotten out of bed, but I didn't. So of course I went back to sleep. I slept until 10:30. This has got to stop. After pet stuff and breakfast I decided to make amends by taking down the Christmas lights.
I took down the lights on the deck and then went out and took down the gate lights. I also put up the solar lights that I had bought a few weeks ago. When I finished that I did my exercises. While I was doing that, I noticed that a tree was rubbing against the garage when the wind blew.
I got out the tree pruner and cut down the offending tree branches. It broke while I was doing that. It's broken a couple of times before and I've fixed it. This time there's no fixing it. I also trimmed a bush by the parking area and some of the wisteria. Of course the last step was to haul it all off into the woods.
It was mid 80's and sunny today, so of course after that I was hot and sweaty. So I went inside and took a shower. Then we went to pick up a prescription and the mail. We stopped a Wendy's for a late lunch also. The dog did 21 retrieves in the hot weather before we got the mail. Amazon said they delivered a package before Christmas, so I expected it. There wasn't anything in the box. So I stood in the window line for 20 minutes. The lady there went back and found it. Apparently the tip I gave her paid off.
I met Lee at the post office. He said he could come and get the cart when we got home. So I texted him when e got home. Ellen's bag was leaking, so we spent the hour before he came over replacing it. I showed him a little about reloading and gave him the cart. I'm hoping I can get him to take the Theil speakers. He said he'd think about it.
After dinner I surfed awhile and then watched TV - Ellen's fantasy show, UNC basketball, and a Vietnam war movie. About 9 Ellen's new bag started leaking. A new record. It lasted 4 hours. CRAP. So we changed it again.

Day 445
Today was some sort of record. I turned over and went back to sleep when the alarm went off. Woke up about 8:15 and did some surfing. Then I curled up with the dog and went back to sleep. I finally got up a little after 11. Then it was pet stuff and breakfast (almost lunch). I haven't slept that late in a long time. I don't plan on doing it again - I felt kind of crappy all day and I think that's why.
After breakfast I did a little online shopping and a lot of surfing. Abut 1:30 we went to the post office. I expected packages, but there weren't any. We stopped for hamburgers and then ran the dog at the school. She hadn't run in 2 days and did 25 retrieves. She was enjoying herself. The next stop was HEB. We needed several things. After that it was Tomlinson's for dog food and a treat for the dog.
It was more surfing when we got home. At 5 I walked ot to the mailbox and then did exercises. It wasn't pleasant. Like I said it I felt lousy all day.
The evening was TV and reading. I didn't really watch the TV because there wasn't anything on. At 9 I got tired of the noise and turned it off.

Day 444
It was a turn off the alarm, go back to sleep, and wake up at 9 day. Then there was about half an hour of surfing brfore getting up to do the pet stuff and have breakfast.
After breakfast there was more surfing followed by a trip to the garage. I did my exercises and finished redoing the reloading stuff. I folded down the kitchen table leaves and moved the shooting table by it. I put three cases of 12 ga on the supports I installed and then put the reloader on top. The result seems to be pretty steady, but I need a couple of more clamps to hold the reloader.
When that was done I went back into the house for more surfing and lunch. The post office is closed and I just dont feel like doing anything. It's kind of a waste of a sunny 83 degree day.
About 5 I went back out to the garage. I spent an hour and a half rearranging some of my tools and parts. I also made a list of some stuff to be added to the online list. After that it was time for dinner.
After dinner we watched some competitive cooking shows and a couple of 3-gun competitions. When they were done I got the blu-ray of Deadpool out and we watched that. It's a great movie.

Day 443
It's Christmas. I turned off the alarm and went back to sleep until 8:15. Then we both surfed until 10. I got up, did the pet stuff and have breakfast. Then it was surfing for about an hour. I decided to go out to the garage and exercise. That way I wouldn't feel so guilty about today's sugar. I also put the reinforcing bars on the shooting table.
I got done at 1:30. I was going to eat lunch, but Ellen had dinner almost ready. So we opened presents instead. Hooch bought everything I asked for in Mom's name. Ellen got cool archery stuff. John and Patty bought me a cool fossil lobster.
We had smoked turkey, scalloped potatoes, and chocolate cake for dinner. It was great. The turkey was really good.
After eating I called Portland. I talked to everyone for more than an hour.
The rest of the day was reading, surfing, and football. It was a good day.

Day 442
I was going to get up with the alarm, but didn't quite make it. I went back to sleep until 8. Then I spent another hour and a half surfing. Taiko was making a lot off noise by the time I got up and did the pet stuff and had breakfast. I went out before eating and did my exercises. That way I didn't have to worry about them all day.
After breakfast we went to Lowe's. I wanted to get a couple of things to complete my reinforcement of the shooting bench. I won't be able to buy anything tomorrow. We stopped at Schlotsky's for lunch and then went to the post office. Then it was home.
We spent the afternoon surfing. I also took a little nap.
Ellen watched chick flicks. After two of them I couldn't take any more. I watched the Seahawks snatch defeat from the jaws of victory. After that it was Dark Matter and a movie.

Day 441
I turned off the alarm this morning and went back to sleep. It was 9 before I woke up. That felt good, but I can't make a habit of it. I'm going to not do that tomorrow. I started surfing, but the upholstery guy called a few minutes later to say the chairs were ready. So we got up, did the pet thing, and had breakfast. Then we left.
The first stop was Walgreen's for my prescription. Then to HEB for the fixings for a Christmas dinner. HEB was packed. There were NO spaces in the parking lot. We had to park across the street. The checkout lines moved pretty quickly though. After that we made a quick stop at the post office and then picked up the chairs. It was raining a little, so I had to cover them with a tarp and drive home immediately.
It was only noon when we got home. So I decided to go to Dripping Springs for lunch, and to pick up some fabric protector for the new chairs. We ate lunch at the pizza place. The HEB was packed, but not as bad as the Circle C one. After that we took the dog to the soccer field. She did 33 long retrieves. She's a really tired doggy tonight.
When we got back Ellen's bag needed changing. Also, Jeff called so I let Lola take the mower over to him. I went out to the garage to exercise. I also attached a brace to the shooting stand to make it more stable. I'll need to get a couple of pieces of metal from Lowe's, but one I attach them I should have a pretty sturdy stand.
The rest of the time until dinner was surfing. After that we watched TV - The grand Tour and two episodes of Dark Matter.

Day 440
When the alarm went off this morning I turned over and went back to sleep. I'm not sure how long I slept. When I woke up again I did some surfing before getting up a little before 10 to do the pet stuff and have breakfast. After breakfast we left to go to Costco. I wanted to see if they could replace the rubber things on the temples of my shooting glasses.
We had just turned on to 42 when the upholstery place called. The chairs were ready. I decided to continue to Costco. When we got there there was a line backed up to turn in. There were no parking places anywhere. We had to follow someone and wait for them to leave. When we got inside the optical place wasn't crowded. They replaced the rubber parts for free.
We went right back home to get the truck. We loaded the chairs onto the back and left again. We stopped at Circle C so Lucy could do 20 retrieves. She didn't do them quickly, but she also didn't want to quit. It was after 1:30 and Ellen was hungry, so we stopped at the custard place for a really quick (15 min) lunch. Then we went to the post office. After that we exchanged the chairs for the two reupholstered ones. They look great and the new foam makes them a lot more comfortable.
When we got home I went out to the garage and cleaned up some stuff. I sorted out about of train parts and put them away. It took quite a bit of time. I also did my exercises. The weigh in today was encouraging, 1 lb lower than the previous low.
After going to the mailbox I surfed a little and had dinner. There was a package from Hooch for Ellen that was supposed to be delivered today. It hadn't made it by 6. I went out again at 9 and it was there. I wrapped it and put it under the tree.
The rest of the evening was football, surfing, and some reading.

Day 439
The latest update to Minions has made it so unstable that it is unusable. So this is the first Minionless day in months. I'm suffering from withdrawal. Instead of Minions I found a bunch of anti-Hiliary parody songs and listened to them. When they ran out I got up and did the pet stuff and had breakfast.
The day was sunny and was supposed to be warm. So I loaded up the car and went to the club. The trip was fine, the time at the club could have been better. When I got out my glasses the temples were broken. I tried to switch temples with another pair, but I needed tools I didn't have. So I ended up shooting with the cloudy day glasses. After five stations the keyh broke and I had to walk back to the clubhouse to get another. I had to wait 20 minutes in line, and then another 15 while the clerk fought with his computer.
The targets themselves were fine except for one totally broken station and another with an impossible target right in the sun. It was windy, which made things just right in terms of difficulty. The weather was about 70. All in all it was well worth it. We quit after 100 because we were both tired and hungry.
On the way back we stopped at the yuppie grocery to replace the rolls Lucy ate yesterday. We didn't run her today because she tired herself out running al over the course while we were shooting. We stopped at the restaurant across from Harbor Freight for lunch. It was good. Lucy was disappointed she didn't get anything, but she gets no treats for awhile due to here inhaling 6 rolls yesterday.
I wanted to go to Home Depot to get a top for the tool chest I bought yesterday. It was abouit 3 and the traffic off the Brodie exit was really heavy. It took us 3 or 4 cycles of the light to get on Brodie. After a quick stop at Home Depot we went to the post office via William Cannon. Traffic was backed up a long way at the Mopac. We waited 3 cycles of the light there.
We got the mail and then went home. I put everything away and then did a little surfing. At 5:15 I went out to get the mail. We were supposed to get a package today, but it wasn't there. So I fixed my glasses. It wasn't easy, but with the right tools I managed to do it. Now I just have to get the broken temples fixed if possible. I went out again at 6 and the package was there.
After dinner I went out to the garage and put the package contents, a shooting bench together. It's a damn good shooting bench. Hopefully I can modify it some and make it into a reloading bench. I also screwed the top I'd bought to the tool chest. It works nice.
I was in the garage until 8:30. Ellen's watching competitive shooting and I'm planning on reading. The damn bag is leaking again, so we'll be changing that.

Day 438
Today started off with a disappointment. The Minions game had an update. It said it added new features. All it did was add some decorations to buy. It also seems to have made the game pretty unstable It even crashes some times while it is loading.
We didn't say in bed long. Ellen had an appointment with the radiologist at 10. So after pet stuff, breakfast, and starting the wash we left. Of course the doctor had little to say. He really hasn't provided any treatment for months.
After the doctor we went to the doggy bakery and the yuppie grocery. The next stop was Home Depot where bought the tool cart I saw yesterday. On the way home we stopped at the post office. I also ran the dog at the soccer field. I limited her to 20 retrieves. Se didn't seem to mind much. The last stop was the Mickey D's on 71. It was really slow - maybe a half hour wait, and the food wasn't very good. We won't be back.
Because the tail gate was down we had the groceries in the cab while we were in Mickey D's. During the long wait Lucy ate a whole package of rolls. There wasn't a crumb left.
When we got home I unloaded the truck. Ellen's bag was leaking AGAIN. So we changed it. I went back outside and moved stuff from the old cart to the new one. I gained one drawer of new space. I thought I'd get more. I also exercised.
As I was going back to the house I noticed that the side tarp on the truck shelter had come loose. So I went back to the garage, got stuff, and fixed it.
The evening was surfing for me. Ellen watched chick flicks.

Day 437
It was cold again this morning, which seems to be the indicator to spend a lot of time in bed. We surfed and gamed until about 9:30. Then it was pet stuff and breakfast. The septic was growling softly, which meant it was frozen. Luckily it didn't get any worse, and the day warmed up enough that apparently it thawed out.
I've been getting really shaggy, so I wanted to get a haircut today. Before I did that I went out to the garage and cleaned the LCP. I also did a little putting away of stuff and my exercises.
We didn't leave until after 11. The first stop was Wally World. I needed more light bulbs for the living room. Apparently they don't make them any more. I hate liberals. The next stop was the haircut place. There were 6 or 8 guys waiting. So I signed up and went to Best Buy. There wasn't anything there that I wanted. We came back after about 20 minutes and spent the next half hour waiting. It was worth it though. I like the haircut and it feels great not to be shaggy anymore.
After that we went to Home Depot to look for light bulbs. They didn't have any. They did have a wheeled tool chest for sale for $119. I plan on coming back with the truck tomorrow. We also stopped at Costco for water and the post office (no packages think heaven). I was planning on eating out, but Ellen's bag started to leak so we didn't. We did stop at the soccer fields where Lucy did 30 long retrieves. As we were driving home past the upholstery place we talked about calling them. About 10 minutes later they called us instead. They said they were running late and that the chairs would be done this week.
Ellen's bag was a problem today. We replaced it when we got home. By evening it was leaking again. So we replaced it again.
The evening was mainly football and surfing. The game was OK, but one team seemed to be determined to lose. Lucy was really stiff. I don't think we'll run her tomorrow.
Day 436
I got up when the alarm went off and didn't go back to sleep. Instead I did a little Minions and a little surfing. Then I got up and did the pet stuff and breakfast. There was a reason for that. I wanted to go to a gun show.
After breakfast we left. It was cold, 25 degrees with a stiff wind. The first stop was Cabela's. They hadn't notified me that my LC was in, but the web said they had them in stock. When I got helped, I just said "my gun is in". He came back with a shipping box with my name on it. Apparently they just expected me to show up at some point.
I filled out the paperwork for it and bought three boxes of shells. While I was doing that Ellen found some shoes she wanted. So we bought those, too.
After that I ran the dog. She did 33 retrieves, and would have done more. I was really cold and decided that was enough. We made a stop at the HEB there for gas and some bread.
From there we went to New Braunfels for a gun show. It was a bust. It cost us $14 to get in. About 1/3 of the tables wrre selling guns. The rest were selling jewelry, books, and other crap - even hot wheels. I felt really ripped off. I won't be going back there on weekends when there is a Premier show in San Antonio.
When we got back it was still cold and windy. I think the high today was 35. The rest of the day was surfing, some Minions, and football. Right now the Cowboys are winning - crap.

Day 435
I woke up with the alarm, but fell asleep for a few minute right after I turned it off. Then I played some Minions and surfed for about an hour. When we got up I did the pet stuff and had breakfast. This is another day when I didn't have much to do, so I surfed a lot. I did go out to the garage and put a few things away. I also did my exercises.
A little after noon Ellen wanted her bag changed, so we did it. Then we did a little more surfing before going over to Dola's. It turns out that the party had been cancelled because she was sick. She sent out an email, but I didn't get it. We talked to her for a little while and left her some of the sweet potatoes that Ellen had fixed.
After that it was back home for a late lunch and more surfing. Ellen's bag started leaking, so we changed it again. That gets old quick.
The evening was mainly football and a little Minions.
A cold front was forecast to move in, and boy did it. It was in the mid 70's when we went to Dola's at 1:45. It's now 35 degrees with a high wind. I hope the truck shelter survives.

Day 434
I turned off the alarm and went back to sleep again. I didn't sleep long, but it felt good. Then I played a little Minions and surfed for awhile. When I got up it was pet stuff and breakfast. Then I got the labeler and labelled a couple of magazines. I painted over the labels to protect them.
That wasn't much of an accomplishment. So I went out to the well house and replaced the overhead light there with one of the LED lights we bought at Costco awhile back. Then I hung up the other one, too. The place is really lit up now. It's supposed to get too cold to work there though in a couple of days.
I did my exercises and then went back to the house. I was going to leave, but Ellen was fixing herself lunch. So I fixed lunch too and then we left. We went to the post office - another wait in line for a package. Then we went over to bwhind Costco to run the dog. She did 30 retrieves. Ellen saw a smoothie shop there, so we stopped and got her one.
When we got home I did some more Minions and surfing. After dinner we watched two episodes of the Grand Tour and one of Gold Derp.

Day 433
Woke up to the alarm today, turned it off, and went back to sleep for an hour. When I woke up it was surfing and Minions for anther hour. That made it 9:30 when I got up to do the pet stuff and have breakfast.
The day started off with a disappointment. Thursday are when I weigh myself. I thought I'd lost some weight, but the scale said I'd gained instead. Crap.
I really didn't have anything planned to do today. In fact, I spent part of yesterday evening trying to think up something. So I surfed instead. About noon we left to go to the post office. Thankfully there were no packages. The second string lady was at the window and there was a line. After that we stopped at HEB. We got a ham along with the 8 things they give you for free when you buy one. We also stopped at Tomlinson's to get Lucy a treat. I wanted to give her a day off, so I didn't run her.
We ate a late lunch (after 3) when we got home. I really had to do SOMETHING today, so I went out to the garage. I got the labeller and labeled the four die stands I have for the Dillon. I also did my exercises. That was all I accomplished today.
The evening was TV followed by football. The Seahawks won, but they were wearing faggot green uniforms.

Day 432
It was another stay in bed and surf/Minions. We got up about 9:30. After the pet stuff I went out to the garage. I built the reloading die holder. It worked out great. Then I took one of the plastic bins that I ordered a few day ago and cut it down to make a bullet tray for the reloader. Then I attached it. We'll see how it works next time I do some reloading. I also did my exercises.
I had originally planned on going shooting today, but it was too cold - 60. When I got back to the house I decided it would be cool to go to the restaurant north of Bee Cave. We have free lunch coupons from a couple of years ago. When we got there t turned out that they had gone tits up. So we went back to Bee Cave to eat.
We ate at the restaurant across fro Whole Paycheck. It's a new, knd of Mexican/Texas food place. They still allow the dog outside. They have heaters outside and it was really comfortable. Ellen had shrimp bisque and I had a chili burger. They were both great. After that we walked the mall. We stopped at a shoe place (didn't buy anything) and a toy store (Lego's). The last stop was the bank to get money. There was a field next door, so Lucy did 25 long retrieves.
We didn't get home until 5. After dinner I surfed all evening while Ellen watched chick flicks.

Day 431
I got up when the alarm went off, played some Minions, surfed, and went back to sleep. I woke up a little later, surfed some more, and went back to sleep. Neither of use really wanted to get out of bed, so it was almost 11 before we did. I'm not sure that's a pattern I want to get into. When we did get up it was pet stuff and breakfast, then leave.
We went to the post office first. Because they had written "multiple" on the side of the one box Ellen picked up yesterday, I thought they had missed one. There was another slip in our box, and when we went to the window there were four packages.
After that we went to Best Buy and got the latest Star Wars blu-ray for $10. Ellen had a $10 coupon, so it didn't cost us anything. Then we stopped at Lowe's to run the dog and get some stuff for a reloading die stand I want to build. Lucy did 18 retrieves, which isn't bad. They were long, and the temperature was over 75. We also stopped at Randall's so I could get some mouthwash (HEB doesn't carry it). The last stop was NxNW for a late lunch.
When we got hoe Ellen's bag needed changing. After that I went out to the garage and painted the parts for my stand. I also did my exercises.
The evening was surfing and Minions for me and TV for Ellen. I think she went through two chick flicks.

Day 430
Today was another limited effort day. I woke up about 7 and began playing Minions. I played it until about 9 and then got up. Then it was pet stuff and breakfast. After that it was a lot more surfing. It was cold, in the 40's and I didn't want to do much. I did go out and reorganize my reloading stuff - one large cabinet and two large drawers. I've got a lot of stuff. I rearranged it so that all the dies and powder were in the cabinet and the components, extra stuff, and tools were in the drawers.
Ellen had a "survivor's class" at 1. I ate lunch after she left. Then I went out to the garage again. I finished the reorganization and did my exercises. I also reloaded 90 more rounds. Everything works OK except the primer feed. It's better, but it still fails abouit 20% of the time. I think it's because the table is so wobbly.
After reloading I went back to more surfing. That took up the rest of the afternoon except a trip to the mailbox.
The evening was Minions, football and TV. The game turned into a laugh-er about 10 minutes into the second half.

Day 429
I woke up with the alarm, but it didn't last long. I fell back to sleep waiting for Minions to boot. When I work up again I played some Minions, surfed, and petted the animals. There didn't seem to be any particular reason to get up. I finally did get up about 10. I did the pet stuff and had breakfast. Then I went to the garage to do some reloading.
I reloaded 100 rounds. That completes reworking all of the stuff I reloaded erroneously. Then I decided to do some fine tuning to get the reloader to work as well as I could. I tweaked the used primer catcher some to make it work better, it was sticking some. Then I adjusted the case expander on the powder drop to make it easier to set bullets on the case. Finally I dissembled the primer feed to see if I could get it to work better. I checked the settings as well as I could. They seemed all right. Then I tried to fix its sticking. I used a file to smooth out some rough spots. Then I used the dremel to polish it. Finally I lubricated it with CLP. We'll have to see if that does the trick.
I got back to the house about 1. We left to do some errands. We stopped at the post office and then went to Wally World. They didn't have plastic boxes, but they did have my Zantac and some double sided tape. We stopped at Mickey D's inside the store for lunch. The last stop was Lowe's. Ellen wanted to replace the knobs on the new DVD cabinet. We also ran the dog there. She did 25 retrieves.
When we got home Ellen announced that she needed a bag change. After that I surfed and played Minions. After dinner it was more hours of surfing. I just didn't feel like watching TV.

Day 428
I got up with the alarm again, but I kind of napped for about 20 minutes. Of course there was some Minions and surfing before I got up about 8:30. When I got up it was pet stuff and breakfast. It was also take he garbage out in the cold. I've been doing that the last few mornings. I hope it doesn't become a regular thing.
After breakfast I did about an hour of surfing. Then I went to the garage. I pulled 139 cartridges and reloaded 100. I've got 100 left to reload and then I'll have corrected all of my screw-up reloads. Of course I did my exercises, too.
When I got back to the house I had lunch. I'd noticed while I was in the apartment that we have a completely empty CD/DVD cabinet. I measured it and determined it held a lot more than the one we had in the house now. I think the reason we weren't using it was because the doors dragged when they were opened.
I took it into the garage and figured out why it wasn't closing correctly. The fix took awhile to implement. Then I took it to the house. I moved all of the DVDs from the old cabinet to the new. I also moved all of the blu-rays into it. They had all been stacked sky high on top of the old cabinet because it was full. I left the ones we haven't watched in the rack on top. All of our disks fit in the new cabinet with room to spare.
That whole process took a couple of hours. When I was finished it was more surfing until dinner time. Ellen was watching some chick flick that I had to take my mind off of. After dinner we watched a Grand Tour episode and a couple of zombie movies.

Day 427
We woke up with the alarm today, but just surfed. The temperature outside was 33. I played a little Minions and did a little surfing. Then I went back to sleep. I just felt like sleeping instead of getting up. When I woke up again, I did some more surfing. I finally got up about 10:30. It was after 11 by the time I'd done the pet stuff and had breakfast.
I went out to the garage and determined the stuff I needed to order from Dillon's. Then I disassembled 100 115 grain cartridges and did my exercises. Then I did something really stupid. I reloaded 39 of them without increasing the powder drop. That means I'll have to take them apart and then start loading over again.
We took the dog to Circle C where she did 36 long retrieves. I figure it was about 3000 yards. That's incredible. Then we stopped at HEB for a few items and ate lunch at the Icehouse. We thought Lucy deserved it, so we took her to Tomlinson's. She got several treats.
The final stop was the post office. The score was one package and some junk mail.
We didn't get home until 5. The evening was TV. First my gun shows and then Ellen's cooking shows. I played Minions during her shows.

Day 426
I woke up when the alarm went off - sort of. I drifted in and out of sleep for awhile. Then I played Minions and did some surfing. It was cold outside - about 40. So we ended up staying in bed until 9:30. When I got up it was pet stuff and breakfast. I also had a big box of garbage to take out. It was cold walking out there and the wind made it worse.
When I got back it was surfing time. I was planning on going to Cabela's to get a LCP II that they had on sale. Fortunately I decided to check on line. It turns out that they don't have any. So I ordered it from them online. It should be here just before Christmas.
I didn't feel like making lunch, so we left about 12:30. We stopped at a UPS store to send off a return to Amazon. Then we went to Jack in the Box for lunch. They no longer have the sandwich I like. After that it was the post office - only one package. The next stop was the gas station. Then we went to the pet store to pick up the cat food that they said was supposed to be there. It was, but it was still on the pallets in back. We got 24 cans, about a month's supply.
I didn't run Lucy. She did 30 long retrieves yesterday and I think she needed a day off.
When we got home I went out to the garage and pulled apart 100 124 gr loads. Then I did my exercises. I finished up by reloading the 100 loads.
I was going to walk the dog up to the mailbox, but it was just too windy and cold. Right now it's 35 and i think it's going to get colder.
We spent the evening watching TV and football. Ellen needed her bag changed, but at least it lasted 2 days this time.

Day 425
I woke up with the alarm. I really wanted to turn over and go back to sleep, but I didn't. Instead it was Minions and surfing until about 8:30. Then it was pet stuff and breakfast. I contacted DVOR and got a RMA and a shipping label for the wrong magazine. Then I packed it up.
Ellen called Amazon about returning the electric candles that Pat got us. They are nice, but we just have absolutely no place to put them. It's kind of cool that they could issues a return based on the info on the mailing label.
It's supposed to freeze tonight, so I set up the heater in the well house. I also put a light in the pump shelter. I had to pry the door open, so I took the time to plane it down and repaint it. As I was testing the light, the bulb blew. I also put salt in the softener.
Then I went out to the garage to use the bullet puller that I bought yesterday. The instructions sucked. A single picture would have been enough. Instead there were two or three paragraphs that didn't really describe how to use it at all. I played with it for more than an hour and then gave up.
I went through my reloading stuff and found that I had a press mounted bullet puller, but I didn't have the right collet. So after I did my exercises I went inside to look at acquiring one. I looked at Cabela's and Midway, before ending up at Amazon. Amazon also had the hand one that I was trying to make work. The comments on it described how to use it, in about two sentences. I went back outside and pulled about 8 bullets. Then I reloaded them with the right amount of powder.
After that I went back into the house and had lunch. Then it was time to do errands. We went to the post office - there were three more packages there. Then we went to FedEx to mail the DVOR package. The next stop was Lowe's for salt and rough usage bulbs for the light that went out. The last stop was a short one at HEB to get potato chips.
When we got home I surfed and played a little Minions. Ellen went to Red's. When she got back she said the reloads worked fine, but were a little stout. I surfed the first part of the evening away. Then I kind of watched Ellen's weirdo shows with her when she got home.

Day 424
The alarm went off and we both hit the web. For some reason I didn't feel like staying in bed, so I got up about 8. I did the pet stuff and had breakfast.
After that I went out to the garage. I did my exercises and finished measuring the cases. Then I reset the reloader and reloaded 25 9mm cartridges. Along the way I fixed two problems with the reloader that had been giving me a pain in the ass. I cleaned and lubricated the primer feed, which went a long way towards fixing the primer feed problems. I also replaced the beat up cotter pin that held the spent primer holder. I didn't have a pin of the right size, so I used a nail and bent its end. I no longer have spent primers flying all over the place.
After that it was back to the house for lunch and some surfing. I texted Lee to see if he still wanted to go to see the new gun range. Unfortunately he couldn't go because he was tracking a deer that he'd shot with a bow.
The range was really cool. It's still under construction, but enough is done to see that it's going to be a cool place. I'm definitely going to join.
After that we went to the post office. There were 8 packages there for us. Add the two that were left at the gate and that's 10 packages in one day. We also stopped at the pet store for some cat food. They said it would be in on Thursday. We drove around back and ran the dog. She did 35 retrieves, but they were shorter ones than usual.
When we got back it was time for Ellen's daily bag change. I opened the packages while she was doing most of it. She no longer lets me do anything except cut the wafer and place it. The packages contained several things that we'd ordered and some Christmas presents. Dvor screwed up and sent me a wrong magazine. I'll have to call them up and work it out tomorrow.
After dinner we watched a couple of movies. One was a zombie movie and the other was a buddy cop movie.

Day 423
We are sort of settling into a winter mode. We got up with the alarm, but didn't get up. Instead it was Minions and surfing. We stayed in bed until about 9:30 and then got up to do the pet stuff and have breakfast.
It rained all of the morning and most of the afternoon. It was an Oregon day, low 50's and raining.
After breakfast it was more surfing. After awhile I went out to the garage to do some more measuring of cases and exercises. The exercises aren't getting any more pleasant, but they are getting a little easier.
After lunch we went out. We stopped at the post office and HEB. We really did need some groceries. By the time we were done with that the rain had stopped. So we let the dog run at Circle C. She did 30 retrieves. It's been a long time since she did that many. After that it was home for some surfing and then dinner.
In the evening it was some football and some gun shows.

Day 422
We woke up with the alarm, but it was cold an rainy again so no reason to get up. We finally did about 9 or 9:30. I did the pets stuff and had breakfast. After that it was surfing (did I mention it was raining).
By noon was suffering from an extreme case of cabin fever. So we put the pets away and went to Barton Creek Mall. We were going to go to the Domain, but it's open air and the rain never let up.
There were a fair number of people there, but it wasn't over crowded. It looked like people were buying stuff. We just walked around looking at stuff. I did buy some socks at Penney's. We ate lunch at the Cheesecake Factory. It was really good. I had a great mojito, but I'm not sure it was worth the $11 it cost me.
After lunch we walked around some more looking for earrings for Alicia. We didn't find any we liked. After awhile Ellen timed out, so we went home.
When we got home we changed Ellen's bag. At least this one lasted 2 days. After that it was a little bit of surfing, a late dinner, and football.

Day 421
I woke up a little before the alarm. I played a little Minions and surfed, and then I went back to sleep. I repeated that a couple of other times. We finally got up at noon. There wasn't any point in getting up earlier, it was cold and raining. It rained all day, a total of 1.8 inches. We are closing in on 60 inches of rain this year.
After the pet stuff and lunch (too late for breakfast) it was more surfing. About 1:30 we went to the post office. After that we went to Costco. We didn't need anything, but I was bored. We actually ended up buying several things that we didn't know we needed, and two we did - batteries and a gift basket for Dola.
When we got home I went out to the garage. I did my exercises and then started measuring the lengths of the cases that I'd cleaned. I measured 425 of them. I still have 300 to go.
When I got back to the house it was time for dinner. After dinner it was TV and some Minions.
Not much happens on cold and rainy days.

Day 420
We woke up when the alarm went off, but we just stayed in bed to surf and play games. We did get up about 9. Then it was the usual - pet stuff and breakfast.
When I got up there was a squirrel at the feeder. Before I could get out the rifle a big coyote showed up on the other side of the fence. I went to get the shotgun, but he was gone when I got back. So was the squirrel, but he came back in about 15 minutes. That was a bad move on his part.
After breakfast I went out to the garage and put some brass in the tumbler. Then I brought in the Christmas tree stuff. We moved the stand out of the way and I put up the tree. Then Ellen hung the ornaments. I got to put everything back. The tree looks really good. We even had some presents for John and Patty to put under it.
After lunch we went to the post office to mail Tony's present. Then we stopped at the home store to get incandescent lights. They had only one string, the rest were LED. I ran Lucy in the grass by the parking lot. She did 30 retrieves.
We stopped at Target to get a larger litter scoop. They also had some incandescent lights on smaller strings, so I bought one - a whole $3.
When we got home I went out to the garage and did my exercises. Then I sorted out all of the cleaned brass. I'm going to have to measure them all before I can reload them, but them I'll have 400 cases to reload.
After that it was time for dinner. The evening was TV and changing Ellen's bag. I guess we'll be doing that every day from now on.

Day 419
Woke up with the alarm this morning. Spent a lot of time playing Minions and surfing. Eventually we had to get up to do the pet stuff and have breakfast. Ellen's doctor appointment was at 11, so we left about 10:15. We got there in half an hour. We had to wait, but no as much as usual. The doctor asked a few questions and then decided that it would be 2-3 weeks before the surgery could happen. We told him we'd like it to be at the end of January. So it got scheduled for 2/2/17.
There was a yuppie grocery store a couple of blocks from the doctor, so we went over there. We bought a few items, mainly bread. The next stop was McBride's. I bought Ellen a small flashlight for her purse. The gun portion of the store looked like the locusts had hit it.
Then we drove over to the post office and had lunch at the Thai place at the Y. It was OK, but nothing to write home about. Tony's present was at the post office, so that's the last of the Christmas presents.
When we got home there were three packages at the gate. One was some juice stuff for Ellen. Another was some stuff I'd bought, including presents for Ellen. The last was a box of presents from John and Patty. Some day for packages.
I did a little surfing and then went out to the garage. I did my exercises and then wrapped up four presents, one for Tony and three for Ellen. I marked her presents one from each pet. Then I took Tony's back to the house and put it in a box for shipping.
The rest of the day was surfing, mainly looking for present for my list. Most of the online vendors are sold out of a lot of stuff. It's almost like the panic. I'll just put down a lot of small stuff and leave it at that.

Day 418
This is going to be a quick one, I want to go to bed.
I woke up with the alarm and spent about half an hour in bed surfing and playing Minions. Then both of us got up. I did the pet stuff and then we left to take the Mazda to the dealership. After that we went to Slaughter and I35 for breakfast at IHOP. I wanted to go to Cabela's after breakfast, but they had construction at the Slaughter/I35 intersection and I couldn't get back to go southbound. So we went east and then south. We were almost all the way to Cabela's before we got back to the freeway.
After a short stop at Wally World for a new cat litter scope we went to Cabela's. I wanted a laser sight that was on sale. Unfortunately they wouldn't sell it to me because I was a day early. So I ran the dog (20 retrieves) and we went home.
Ellen was leaking again, so we changed the bag. We have to figure out a way to make them last more than 12-24 hours.I did a little surfing and then went out to exercise. The dealership called just as I got back. So we drove over and got the car. I stopped at the post office on the way back.
When we got back I went out and did some tree trimming in the front yard and along the driveway. It looks a lot better now.
The evening was surfing and watching TV. I'm looking on Amazon for things I can put on a Christmas list.

Day 417
I woke up a little before the alarm and surfed for awhile. I played a little Minions and then went back to sleep. I finally got out of bed about 9. I did the pet stuff and ate breakfast. Then I called the Mazda dealer to make an appointment to get the car recall fixed. We go in tomorrow at 9.
After that I got out the new powder scale/trickler. I checked the new scale against what the reloader was throwing and what the other scale read. They all agreed within .1 gr. So I looked up the reloading info. That's when I found the error. The reloader was set to 3.6 gr. That's for a 147 gr bullet. 115 bullets need 4.8 gr. and 124 bullets need 4.4 gr. I may be able to use the 110 124 cartridges that I still have, but the 200 115 loads will have to be pulled and redone.
So the next item of business was to order a bullet puller from Cabela's. I also ordered some more bullets that they had on sale.
After all of that I put away all of the stuff. I had to make a place in the bathroom closet for the new scale because it doesn't like freezing temperatures. While I was doing that I came across a box of old pictures. Some date back to when we were in college. Ellen was a really good looking young woman.
We need to take the truck to the Mazda place tomorrow because they will have the car all day. So I needed to make sure it would start. It's been 10 days or so since I used it. I took the opportunity to take two of the kitchen chairs to get reupholstered. They are going to take about $500 apiece. Oh well, we've had them for almost 30 years.
We also went to the post office (no mail at all) and HEB. The last stop was Circle C for the dog. She did 20 retrieves. I'm not running her tomorrow though, she's pretty tired tonight.
When we got home Ellen's bag was leaking (we changed it yesterday). We changed it and then I took the dog to the mailbox and did my exercises. They seemed unusually difficult today. I've had a twinge of pain in my upper abdomen all day. That may be part of it.

Day 416
There wasn't anything to really do today, so I stayed in bed when the alarm went off and surfed. I got up about 8:30 to do the pet stuff and have breakfast. Then it was surfing while we waited for the doctor's office to open. Ellen called just after they opened, but got voice mail. We waited about an hour and a half and tried again. More voicemail.
It was clear the doctor wasn't interested, so Ellen addressed the remaining Christmas presents and we went to the post office. We also ran the dog at Circle C - 22 really long retrieves.
While we were driving I noticed that the battery in my watch was dead. So we stopped at the watch place and got a new one. We stopped at Tomlinson's to get the dog some treats and then went to Waterloo for a late lunch. It was 80 degrees and nice sitting outside with the dog.
The doctor' office finally called back about 2:30 or 3. They said they could see her - on the 15th. Give me a break.
When we got home I spent a lot of time finding a couple of Christmas presents for Ellen. She doesn't know I'm buying her anything. I still have to come up with some stuff for a Christmas list.
The evening was Minions, gun shows and football. The Packers actually won.

Day 415
I woke up this morning and checked Minions. It was talking to Facebook again. Of course that meant that I spent some time playing it before I got up. When I did get up I did the pet stuff and had breakfast. Ellen called and said there was no sign of any doctors- surprise, surprise. She didn't bleed last night, so we decided to request that she leave.
While we were waiting for a decision I went to Cabela's. I decided to get a new powder scale. I think that might be why my reloads are light. Cabela's was having a sale on one, and RCBS was giving a $75 rebate on it. So I got one. While I was there I ran the dog and stopped at Wally World for a light controller and lunch.
When I got home there was still no word from the doctors, so I did my exercises and took a shower. Then it was waiting for the hospital to give Ellen permission to leave.
About 3 they started talking about letting her go, so I drove over there. We finally got out a little before 6. We went to dinner at Cheddar's. Ellen started bleeding when we got home. Fortunately it stopped after about an hour.
The evening was a little surfing, a little Minions, and football.

Day 414
Last night the Minions game went wonky. It no longer connects to Facebook. From my point of view, that kills the game. It didn't work this morning either. So for now I'm not playing it.
That meant that I was up by 8 to do the pet stuff and have breakfast. I never got to breakfast. For some reason I got thoroughly disgusted with the state of the kitchen and decided to clean it up. I put a bunch of stuff away and then scrubbed all of the counters. I rearranged what was left on the counters to give us more room. In putting stuff away I ended up rearranging a couple of cabinets also. The whole operation took several hours. The last things I did were exercise and take a shower.
When I got done it was 11:30 and I still hadn't had breakfast. So I loaded up the dog and went to the post office and mailed off presents to Hooch. After that it was Target to get a Deadpool blu-ray (on sale) and some more lights for the gate. I also went to the hospital. The doctors hadn't done anything for Ellen. She was just sitting there vainly hoping that someone would come. I ate lunch with her, but didn't stay too long. There was no point.
Before I left I ran the dog by the parking structure. She did 23 retrieves. She now thinks the hospital is a park and gets excited when we drive in.
I made a quick stop at Harbor Freight on the way home to get a couple of socket connectors and some more cable ties. When I got home I put two more strings of lights on the gate. It's now covered with them.
When I got back into the house I replaced the light on the shotgun. I've been meaning to do that for months. I still have to get some double sided tape to mount the switch.
I surfed until it was time to get the mail. On the way back I got the new lights for the deck out of the garage. After I fed the pets I put them up.
The evening was mainly surfing and a little TV. I went out and checked the gate lights. They look really cool. The new deck light are neat also. They have a remote control, so I can change them while I'm in the house.

Day 413
It was a normal get up before the alarm, surf and play Minions, then get up day. I was up by 8 to do the pet stuff and have breakfast.
Then the dog and I left to do some Black Friday shopping. Remington has a $5/box rebate on 9mm and Academy has a sale on it. The end result is $6/box. Of course they were almost out by the time I got there, but I manged to score 27 boxes. I figure that's a win.
The next stop was across the street to get cat food. We were down to the last can of Taiko's food. I couldn't buy it the other day because I didn't have the prescription. I got a dozen cans. Then I ran the dog on the grass at the back of the shopping area. She loved it and did 21 retrieves.
Ellen called just as I was leaving. They were taking her in to look at her small intestine. I went over there and sat in the waiting room. I made sure they knew that I wanted to talk to the doctor afterwards. Eventually a nurse came in. The doctor had blown me off and "was going to come to her room later". Yeah, bullshit.
I went up to the room and waited with Ellen for a couple of hours. Of course the doctor never showed. I had to leave because of the dog. It was good I did. She had to take a piss before we could leave the parking lot.
I stopped at the post office on the way home. There were two packages - cat food and medical supplies.
When we got home I put up the Christmas lights on the gate. They look good, but there aren't enough of them. I buy more tomorrow. Then I surfed for hours.
About 5 Ellen called. The sack of shit doctor never showed up. She got some sort of information that the problem is right on the border of where the surgeon should deal with it or the gastro guy. Maybe they are arguing over that. I told her that someone better come to her with a plan by 10 tomorrow or she needs to start making a lot of noise. I'm really pissed.
I've spent the afternoon and evening surfing. I did talk briefly with Tony about what he wanted for Christmas. He lost the coat we bought him, so I'm going to get him another.
The internet makes shopping easy. I've made four purchases over the last few days. Mainly shooting stuff and presents.
Then the dog and I left to do some Black Friday shopping. Remington has a $5/box rebate on 9mm and Academy has a sale on it. The end result is $6/box. Of course they were almost out by the time I got there, but I manged to score 27 boxes. I figure that's a win.

Day 412
It was a standard morning. Surfing, Minions, and pet stuff.
Ellen isn't getting out today. She started bleeding last night. That means we won't be together for Thanksgiving - the first time in 40 years. At least her blood work is looking a little better.
It was interesting. The newspaper delivered a Thursday paper even though I don't pay for one. Mainly it was full of ads that I'd already seen online.
I did finish the shelf for the bottom of the small safe. I installed it and then put everything back into it. It all fits, but just barely.
I went over to the hospital, but of course nothing is going to happen on Thanksgiving. I just figured it would be a good idea to see Ellen for a little while. Besides, it was an opportunity to run the dog. She did 25 retrieves.
I stopped at HEB and got some shrimp and a cake for dinner. I'll take some of the cake to Ellen tomorrow.
Ellen called in the evening while I was watching a zombie movie. She just wanted to talk. then I called Hooch and did the annual Thanksgiving day call thing. Talked to everyone. I even had the most substantive conversation I've had with Tony in years. I found out a little about his business - he's moving into the high end niche. I also found out that he's a member of the local Republican organization.
After that I surfed for a little bit and went to sleep.

Day 411
For some reason I've forgotten to write up the last three days. The problem is, after three days I have a hard time remembering what happened. Hell, I have a hard time remembering what happened in the morning.
I'm sure I got up around the alarm time, played some Minions, and did the pet stuff. While I was surfing in the morning 5 deer came into the side yard by the car. They didn't go into the back yard though. They must have hung around all day. When I left in the afternoon they were by the gate.
They did an endoscopy on Ellen in the afternoon - looked from her throat down to the bottom of her stomach. They didn't find anything. I didn't think they would. I got to talk to the doctor. When I asked him what could be causing bleeding in her small intestine he wouldn't give me any information - "it could be a lot of things".
I ran the dog on the grass by the parking structure before we came home. She did over 20 retrieves.
Ellen hasn't been bleeding all day, so maybe she'll get out tomorrow.
When I wasn't at the hospital I spent the day surfing. I watched the Tarheels win a game in the evening. They are ranked 4th, and haven't lost a game. Of course it's early in the season.

Day 410
When the alarm went off this morning I just turned over and went to sleep until 8. Then it was Minions and surfing for a little while. I got up, did the pet stuff, started the wash, and had breakfast.
Then it was time to finish the present wrapping. I wrapped the presents for John and Melissa and put Mom's in a shipping box. We didn't have a shipping box big enough for their presents.
Then I did a little inventory of my optic purchases. It seems like I need one more and I'm done. I also decided to build a shelf in the safe to give me some more room.
Hooch called and I had a long talk with him. It covered Ellen's illness, Mom's condition, Tony, and his upcoming trip. It was nice to talk with him.
Ellen called once in the morning and we did several texts. The upshot was that there's definitely something wrong as she started bleeding again. The good news was that her hemocrit was going back up. There was no word from the surgeon's partner.
In between this I did a whole lot more surfing and some Minions. I also did my exercises.
About three I decided to leave to do some errands. I stopped by the post office, got the mail, and bought a box. There was a check in the mail, so I deposited it in the bank. I had planned on running Lucy, but it started raining while I was in the bank. I stopped at Costco for water and then went home. The drive home was through a really heavy rainstorm. The standing water on the roads was really dangerous.
While I was running about, Ellen called. The surgeon's partner had stopped by and did a real examination. Apparently everthing abot the stoma looks good. His belief is that it's an upper GI problem, which is out of his area of expertise. He's going to contact the gastroenterologist (Kumar) and have him look at Ellen. At least that's some progress, but I'm not sure what will happen this close to Thanksgiving.
Unfortunately when I was out I forgot to get the material for the safe shelf. I guess that's tomorrow's task.
When I got home it was time to feed the pets. After that I settled down to some real surfing for the rest of the evening.

Day 409
Today started early - 2AM. Ellen woke me up to say that her bag was filling with blood and she almost fainted. So it was emergency room time. We went there and got in quickly. When they took her blood pressure it was 100/40. She stopped bleeding, but the emergency room doctor basically said "we aren't sending you home like that". So she spent the night there and I went home. I got back to sleep after 4 and woke up at 9:45.
I did the pet stuff and had breakfast. Nothing was happening at the hospital, so I started wrapping Christmas presents and packing them up for mailing. About 12:30 Ellen said that the surgeon's partner had stopped by. He basically said "I don't know what's happening, it not bleeding now, so go home". The guy is useless. Her blood pressure was still low, and the partner had taken her bag off. So she was waiting for the stoma nurse. I drove over there to observe.
I decided to go to the post office on the way. When I turned onto 290 the traffic was backed up all the way to 290. So I turned around and got onto 290 via Slaughter and Escarpment. Ellen called again just as I got on the frontage road to say the nurse was on his way. So I just got on the freeway and skipped the post office.
I got there in time. When the nurse showed up, he said my template was too big. He made me a new one. He also showed me how to spread out the adhesive to deal with the horizontal leakage. Finally, he showed how to push the wafer up under the stoma. Hopefully all those changes will give us better luck with the bags.
About 3 they moved her to a room. It didn't seem to make much sense, since the instructions were to send her home if her next blood work was OK. Her blood pressure was up, but they hadn't done anything to address the blood in the bag. The nurse thought that was bullshit and went off to talk to someone. We thought it was bullshit, too. About 4:30 she started to bleed again. That sealed it. She was staying the night. Since there was no way there was going to be any progress today, I went home a little before 5.
When I got home I continued to wrap presents. I managed to wrap and package 21 presents before I decided enough was enough. I probably finish the rest tomorrow.
The evening was football. The game is a good one for a change, but I got bored in the third quarter and now I'm surfing.

Day 408
I ignored the alarm this morning and went back to sleep for about half an hour. Then it was Minions and surfing until 9:30. It was cold last night, 31 degrees. That meant it was kind of cold in the morning and I didn't want to get out of bed.
After pet stuff and breakfast I did a little more surfing. Then I took the STI and PPQ out to the garage to clean them. That took awhile. I also did exercising before I went back to the house. I was feeling guilty about not doing it the last two days.
When I got back it was a little more surfing. We decided to make the pumpkin dip for the potluck. That meant we needed some vanilla wafers. So we went to HEB for them. We stopped at Circle C for the dog also. She did 19 long retrieves, which is impressive given that she did 26 yesterday. We also stopped for a really late lunch at Jack in the Box.
When we got home there was only had about an hour before the potluck. Ellen surfed and I got the lawn chairs out of the truck and set them up.
There were only about 10 or 12 people at the potluck. It was fun though, and we had some good conversations. There was good food, but I'd just had lunch so I didn't eat much. The whole thing lasted about 3 hours. By then it was 6 and dark. We never sat in the chairs.
I put the chairs away and did some more surfing. I ate a small dinner about 7 and then watched the football game. The Packers suck this year.

Day 407
I woke up in the early morning because I had drank two cans of pop late in the evening. Then I went back to sleep until shortly before the alarm went off. It was time for Minions and surfing. There was a lot of it, since I didn't feel like getting out of bed. I finally got up about 10. Then it was pet stuff and breakfast.
It was cold this morning, about 45 when I woke up and high 50's when I went outside after breakfast. There was a breeze that varied quite a bit. I took down the torn truck cover roof. The sides of it are stitched. The top is welded. The top had completely torn. The sides were fine. That was all I was planning to do, but by the time I was finished it had turned into a nice day. So I got the new top out of the back building and got Ellen to help me put it up.
There was still a light breeze that came and went. I temporarily tied a couple of ropes to the ends of the top. That allowed us to pull it over the framework without having to get up on the ladders. The wind helped a little, too. I tied the corners down one at a time. It wasn't super hard, but it wasn't easy either. The wind didn't help there. Finally we connected the bungees. It all went together better than I thought it would.
After putting everything away it was time for some more surfing and lunch. After lunch we had to go to the grocery store to buy something for tomorrow's potluck. We stopped at Circle C first. Lucy did 26 long retrieves. She really likes the cooler weather. After HEB we went to Tomlinson's to see if they carried the new cat food that we discovered at the dog party last week. Fletcher really likes it. Unfortunately they don't carry it. The people working there really like Lucy. They were giving her all sorts of dog cookies. I let them because Lucy was beside herself with happiness. There was even another dog there to play with.
When we got home it was more surfing and a little Minions. I just didn't feel like doing anything else.
The evening was TV. We watched the Grand Tour, the replacement for Top Gear. It had been getting rave reviews on the net. They were right, it's a great show.

Day 406
I woke up early in the morning because I was cold. Lucy was lying right beside me taking all of the covers. She had her feet in the air. I shifted her over enough to get a partial covering and went back to sleep.
I woke up for good a little before the alarm. I played a little Minions and did a lot of surfing. I got up after about an hour and did the pet stuff and had breakfast. Then I went out to finish the switch board. I reconnected the ground wire to the negative post of one of the caps. Then I built a DB25 with all of the pins shorted together. When it's plugged into the cap connector, they are all connected to ground. It's a kludge, but I'm tired of fucking with it. After that I mounted the board on the layout. I still have to reconnect all of the switch wires to it.
When that was done I did a little more surfing and had lunch. Then it was errand time. We ran the dog at Circle C. She did 25 retrieves. Then we went to the post office. The next stop was Academy for a new pair of sandals. I'd worn a hole in the sole of the current pair. The last stop was Staples. Ellen needed some printer ink.
When we got back Ellen's bag was leaking again. I didn't exercise today because I had to change that. Then it was surfing and Minions until dinner time. Then more surfing and Minions until it was time to go to Cabela's.
We got to Cabela's about 15 minutes after it started. We stood by the counter for awhile and then someone helped us. I ended up buying the PPQ. I thought about a couple of other guns, but they just would have sat in the safe. Of course the whole buying process took a long time. They had a lot of people there though and it went about as well as it could.
We bought the PPQ and then walked around the store some more. I wanted to get a new pair of shoes, but they didn't have anything that fit. We did get some slippers for Mom and some PJs for Ellen. Her bag started leaking while we were there.
When we got home it was change the bag. The process took an hour an a half because here intestine kept shitting. I'm not sure what's wrong, but we need to find out how to get a bag to last more than 5 hours.
During that process I had to go to the apartment to get some more paper towels. That's when I noticed that the roof of the truck shelter has torn in two. The wind has been blowing pretty hard for most of the day. I guess that and the Texas sun was too much for the cheap Chinese shit. I have the cover that was left over from the last repair, so I guess I know what I'll be doing tomorrow.
It's 51 degrees right now. I think Winter's coming.

Day 405
I woke up a little before the alarm again. It was surfing and Minions time. I spent about an hour and a half in bed, I just didn't want to get up. After the pet stuff and breakfast it was a little bit more surfing. While I was doing that, I reviewed the connections between the control board and the layout. That's when I determined that I'd had it right the first time. All of the negative sides of the capacitors on the switch board can be wired together to ground. AH CRAP. Now I have to decide if I'm going to redo everything or just put in a kludge connector. I'll probably decide tomorrow.
After about half an hour we went to an estate sale. I mainly went because it was close and in a place we hadn't been before. It was an impressive collection of junk - a garage sale not an estate sale. To make things worse, everything was 2X or 3X more than it should have been. We did by a crystal light house for Patty.
After that we went to the post office. There was no mail.
Then we went to Tractor Supply in Dripping Springs. They had a string trimmer I wanted to buy. It's a 4 day sale with no rain checks. They didn't have one and told me to look online. We did, but they wanted almost $60 to ship it TO THE STORE. Screw that.
We took the dog to the soccer field. She did 14 retrieves. It was about 75, but really sunny.
Then we went to the coffee shop for lunch. It was good, but I don't think I'll be going back for awhile. I don't want it to get stale.
We went home and I spent the rest of the day surfing. I found a whole bunch of entertaining things on youtube.
I did the exercises after walking to the mailbox. I couldn't do the two push up things or the sit ups. Trying to do them caused me real pain in my stomach. I'll keep trying though.
The evening was football and Minions.

Day 404
I woke up a little before the alarm. I surfed for an hour or so. Then I got up, did the pet stuff, and had breakfast. After that it was more surfing for awhile.
I was tired of having the switch board on the kitchen table. I spent a little time testing out the connections. I could only test out half of them, but they all worked. Hopefully the other half do, too. I took the board outside to reattach it to the layout. Before I could do that, I had to attach some boards to the bottom of the layout so that it would be high enough to clear the switch board. That turned out to be one of those tasks where everything fought me. I spent well over an hour and a half just sawing three boards and screwing them on.
After that I finally attached the switch board. I was going to quit there. I would have had to anyway because Ellen came out to say her bag needed changing. So I went inside, did that, and then had lunch. After that it was more surfing.
Ellen appointment was at 3:15. So we left the dog at home and went there. We only had to wait a half hour past the appointment time to see him. He had good news. Her scan was clean. That really means they can't detect any cancer. They won't really know if it's all gone for two years. The doctor said that she has a 90% chance of being cured.
I was going to go somewhere to celebrate, but Ellen's bag blew out. Crap. So after a stop at the post office we went home.
I had started playing Minions at the doctor's. So I played a little more after we changed her bag again. Then I took the dog to the post office.
The second day of doing the exercises wasn't any more pleasant than yesterday. It's amazing how 7 minutes of physical activity can make me so tired. It will be awhile before I can do all of the exercises. I'll probably have to lose quit a bit of weight before I can.
Ellen went to Red's in the evening. I surfed and watched a little TV.
I was tired of having the switch board on the kitchen table. I spent a little time testing out the connections. I could only test out half of them, but they all worked. Hopefully the other half do, too. I took the board outside to reattach it to the layout. Day 403
We got up with the alarm this morning - Ellen had an 8:30 doctor's appointment. We did the pet stuff and left a little early. It was good that we did. The Mopac was backed up at 290. So we drove up Escarpment to William Cannon. William Cannon was backed up to Escarpment, so we went the other way. We took the back way to 290. After that it was clear sailing and we got there a few minutes early.
For once the doctors were on time. We were out of there by 9. We'll get the results tomorrow afternoon. The appointment is at 3. We'll be lucky to get in by 4:30 or 5.
After the doctor we went to the yuppie grocery. Traffic was a mess. Both 290 and the frontage road were backed up. We got the stuff for a $40 dinner - steak, pears, radishes, and bread. RThat place is expensive.
The next stop was Jim's for breakfast. It was good, and cheap. It was still early. We went to Tominson's, mainly so Lucy would have a good time. The last stop was Circle C where Lucy did 10 retrieves. That's pretty good since she did 20 late yesterday afternoon.
When we got back I decided it was time to actually finish the switch board. So I did. It was a pain in the ass, so I didn't feel like hooking it up back to the layout.
After that it was lunch. Then I got some shooting stuff together and we went to the post office and Red's. Ellen shot her STI and VP9. I shot the R51. That STI is a dream to shoot. Neither of us did well with the VP9. The R51 shoots way low. I'm not sure what to do about that.
When we got home it was surfing time. At 5 I took the dog to the mailbox. When we got back I went to the apartment to do the exercises the doctor gave me. It wasn't fun. There were a couple I couldn't get through. I was sweating and tired when I finished - all in 10 minutes. It will get better as I keep at it (I hope).
Ellen fixed the steak for dinner on the Traeger. It was good. After dinner I surfed and Ellen watched dumb competition shows.

Day 402
Another day that started out with the alarm and some Minions. I didn't play long. Instead I got up, did the pet stuff, had breakfast, and went outside.
It was time to mow the lawn. It took me 4 hours to do it. I started with 2.5 hours of edging. The edger that I bought months ago at an estate sale worked great. The rest of the time was on the mower. It didn't take as long as usual to mow because the grass wasn't as high or thick as it usually is.
I was hot, sweaty, and dirty when I got finished. I went inside and had a late lunch. Then, after a little surfing, I took a shower. The dog hadn't run much yesterday, so we went out. We stopped at the post office and HEB before taking her to circle C. She did a lot better than yesterday - 20 retrieves.
When we got home I did some more surfing. After dinner it was football, reading, and Minions.

Day 401
We woke up with the alarm this morning. We stayed in bed surfing until Eric called about 8:30. That caused us to hurriedly get dressed and do the pert stuff. We met them for breakfast at Waterloo Ice House.
We had a great time talking with them. We suggested that they go to Pedernales state park, and they said they would. We talked until about 10:30. Then we went to the dog party.
Traffic up to the Spicewood exit was amazing. We never went below the speed limit. For a lot of the way we were doing 70 or better, right through the construction zone.
The dog party were fun. There was about 50 or so dogs with their people there. It was held at this large pet store with all sorts of foods and products that we hadn't seen before. We bought several things to try out. We also won a $25 gift card to a restaurant at the Domain.
The party ended about 1. There was a restaurant about an mile away down Burnett that allowed dogs. So we went there for lunch. It was actually a mini-golf place that they had converted into a dog park and outdoor restaurant. I wasn't very hungry, Ellen was. We both ended up having hotdogs and chips. Lucy got a bowl of bacon flavored doggy ice cream.
After that we headed home. They have recently changed the lanes near the Chavez exit. The new lane markings are very confusing and everyone slows down going through there. That produced a mile long traffic jam.
We stopped at Circle C to run the dog. She acted like she wanted to run, but she really didn't. She only did 3 or 4 retrieves. There was an ice cream truck there and we both got ice creams, so it wasn't a total loss.
When we got home I did a little work on the switch board. Then there was Minions and reading. While I was doing that a light bulb in the living room fixture quit. So I went out to the garage, got the ladder, and replaced it.
The rest of the evening was TV and reading. I'm watching the Seahawks snatch defeat from the jaws of victory right now.

Day 400
I woke up at 6 this morning and couldn't go back to sleep. So I played a little Minions and did a lot of surfing. I love reagind about the liberal's butthurt.
I got up about 8, did the pet stuff, got Ellen out of bed and ate breakfast. After breakfast we left for Round Rock. I wanted to observe two things. First, what was the level of attendance. Second, how were the prices.
The attendance was about the same as the other shows we'd been to. The prices were about the same, too. Some sellers might have lowered their prices a little bit. Two sellers were selling big boxes of AR magazines at on-line level prices. Apparently they had bet wrong.
After the show we went to a sea food restaurant nearby. It's run by Jack Allen, but we didn't know that. It was expensive, but the food was good.
The next stop was Fry's, where we bought a couple of small things. While were were there John and Patty's son Eric called. He's in town for the weekend. I told him to call us tomorrow if they wanted to have breakfast with us.
After that we went home. We wanted to miss the traffic from the UT football game. We still got stuck in the jam caused by the stupid way they have traffic routed at the downtown exit due to the construction.
When we got home it was surfing, TV, Minions, and reading. After dinner I decided to accomplish something. I did some work on the switch board. I managed to grind down some standoffs to use as mounts. It was a pain. I thought I was home free, but unfortunately I've run into a problem remounting it. I gave up. It will be there to work on tomorrow.

Day 399
I woke up with the alarm. I didn't want to, but I couldn't go back to sleep. I spent about 45 minutes playing Minions and surfing. Then I got up, did the pet stuff, and had breakfast.
After breakfast I went out and reconnected the battery charger to the truck. It read that the battery was 75% charged. I wanted to remove the old curtain hardware on the kitchen wall and repaint where it was. So I went out to the apartment and got down the can of kitchen paint.
I couldn't get the top off the can. It turned out to be solidly rusted to the can. I ended up destroying the top, and the can, to open it. Rust flakes got into the paint and ruined it. That meant a trip to Home Depot for more. I had wanted to go to Cabela's anyway, so we got ready to go. I checked the truck battery. It was charged, so we decided to take the truck.
At Cabela's I bought a scope at a really good price. I also ran the dog - she did 20 retrieves. Ellen bought Christmas presents for her sister and her husband. We went to Home Depot and got a quart of paint. On the way home we stopped at Sonic for lunch.
When we got home I took down the old hardware and Ellen painted the walls. I put the paint back in the apartment. I wonder if it will be accessible if we need it again.
After that it was surfing for the rest of the afternoon.
In the evening Ellen went to some neighborhood women's thing. I watched TV.

Day 398
I got up with the alarm today. I didn't really want to, but I couldn't get back to sleep. After some Minions and surfing I got up. I did the pet stuff and had breakfast. Then I surfed a little bit more. It was fun reading how the liberals are having a meltdown over Trup's election.
Then it was time to do something. I went out and connected the charger to the truck. The batteries were at 11V and 15%. Then I finished soldering the switch board. That took some time, there were 20 connections. I also packed up the car key and wrote some instructions for Hooch. That took until noon, so after a little more surfing I had lunch.
After lunch we took the dog out for a run at Circle C. She did 20 long retrieves. Then we stopped at HEB for a couple of things and went to the post office.
When we got home it was more surfing and some reading. I also hung up the wall rack in the garage that I bought yesterday. It works pretty well.
The evening was TV and football. I turned off the game in the third quarter because it was becoming a laugh-er.

Day 397
I work up from the alarm today. It woke me from a sound sleep, I wasn't happy. I couldn't go to sleep, though. The first thing Ellen did was inform me that Trump had won. That was absolutely fantastic news. I spent the next hour on the web reading comments from crying liberals. They are such dumb shits.
I got up, did the pet stuff and had breakfast. I was setting up to work on the switch board when I remembered that the new blinds were in. So we left to pick them up instead. I loaded the old ones in the truck. Unfortunately it wouldn't start, the batteries are too run down. Thinking back, it's been over 2 weeks since I've run it. I can't charge it until it quits raining (it rained all day). So I moved the blinds to the car. I had to put half of the back seat down, Lucy was not amused.
When we went to Lowe's to pick up the new blinds we had to wait behind some dumb shit who had read a copy of their Black Friday ad on the web. He couldn't understand why they wouldn't sell him an item at that price today. For some reason it took them 10 or 15 minutes to make him go away.
After we got the blinds we went to Best Buy. I was going to buy an Oculus. They didn't have any in stock, but there were some at Bee Cave. As we were driving to the post office Ellen looked up reviews of the Oculus. Apparently it doesn't work all that well. So I decided not to buy one.
We dropped off the old blinds at Goodwill and then ate at Jim's. It's a cool place. After that it was go home.
When we got home I started to install the blinds. It wasn't a hard job, but it did take some effort. There were four supports per blind, and they had to be positioned carefully. The new ones look nice. Unfortunately there are some old blind supports nailed to the wall by one of the windows. They were covered up by the old blinds, but not the new ones. I'll have to pull them out and then Ellen will have to paint the walls.
When the blinds were done we had to change Ellen's bag. Then I sat in the chair, played Minions, and read.
After dinner we watched TV and read.

Day 396
I woke up early this morning, but I didn't want to stay awake. So I made the effort to go back to sleep. I ddi wake up with the alarm. I played a little Minions, but not a lot. Then I got up and did the pet stuff. No breakfast because of the blood test at the doctor. I did a little surfing and then went to the doctor.
The car turned 20,000 as I got to the parking lot. The appointment was uneventful except that I learned I have arthritis in my left knee. It's going to get worse if I don't lose weight.
I went home after the appointment. I wanted to go to Red's , but Ellen didn't. So I did a little work on the switch board instead. I might finish it up tomorrow if I'm ambitious.
The doctor said that this year's flu looks bad. So Ellen called to make sure she could get a shot (I got one at the doctor's). They said yes, so after lunch we went to Walgreen's so she could get one. Then it was a stop at Circle C for the dog. It was raining when we left, but by the time we got to the park it had stopped. Lucy really likes the cool weather. She did 25 long retrieves. We made a short stop at HEB and then went to the post office.
When we got home it was a little Minions and a lot of surfing and reading. We watched a zombie movie in the evening.
I purposely refrained from looking on the web or TV today. I didn't want to deal with the election at all. Ellen did the same.

Day 395
There wasn't much accomplished today. I got up before the alarm and played Minions and surfed for awhile. Then it was get up, do the pet stuff, and eat breakfast. It rained all of the morning, almost half an inch. I got some tools from the well house and started to rework the switch connections. I unsoldered the 20 connections that I shouldn't have made. Then I got one of the cables I've had for years and prepared it to connect to the boards. At that point I decided I'd done enough, so I quit. The next step will be to solder 20 wires to 20 capacitors. Then I can put the whole thing back together.
While I was going between the house and the garage I noticed that one of the ropes holding the truck shelter up had broken, and another was about to. So I looked for more rope. I only had enough to replace one rope. So we got in the car. We stopped at the post office and then went to Target for the rope. I figured that would be the fastest stop. Unfortunately, they didn't have any because of all the space they'd allocated to toys and Christmas decorations. We had fun looking at those things.
The next stop was Home Depot. Of course they had the rope.
By then it was about 2. We stopped at Cheddar's for lunch. We hadn't been there in a long time, and it was pretty good.
When we got home I didn't feel like doing anything. So I read and napped. After a late dinner (a sandwich) I watched the football game. Ellen has been busy playing with her new computer. She's really impressed with the performance.
Tomorrow I have to go to the doctor for the yearly physical. I'm not looking forward to it.

Day 394
I woke up before the alarm. I did my best to go back to sleep. I was partially successful and probably got another 15 minutes sleep that way. When the alarm went off I gave up and started playing Minions. I played Minions for about an houer and then got up to do the pet stuff and have breakfast.
After breakfast it was a lot of surfing. I could have worked on the train, but I didn't feel like it. About 11 we left for the grocery store for some much needed groceries. On the way I asked Ellen if she wanted the laptop she saw yesterday. It was on sale today - $100 off. She said yes. So we stopped at Best Buy and bought it. We also got a chance to try the Oculus Rift VR system. I think I want one. They didn't have them in stock, though.
After that we went to the grocery store and had lunch at Jack in the Box. They have a great bacon burger on sale right now. The last stop was Tomlinson's for cat food. Lucy had a great time. The workers kept feeding her biscuits. I let them, after all she's run the last three days. She wasn't going to run today. It was raining pretty hard. We ended up with half an inch today.
The rest of the day was reading, surfing, football, and a little Minions. Ellen played with her new laptop for awhile and then quit. She's been napping a lot.
I'm watching the late football game right now. For once it's a good (competitive) game.

Day 393
Apparently I'm getting into the habit of waking up before the alarm. Today I just turned over and went back to sleep for about 20 minutes. Then I surfed and played Minions until about 9. Then it was get up, pet stuff, and breakfast.
Today was some sort of milestone. I started work on the railroad again. Actually, it disassembled something I did before. I had wired the input board for the switch wires wrong on the layout. So I labeled all of the wires and disconnected them. Then I removed the board and took it to the house. I partially disassembled the board to see what I had done. Then I wrote up what I have to do to fix it. It's a fair amount of work. I'll tackle it some other day.
After that I did exactly nothing for the rest of the day. I just surfed, read and played a little Minions.
About 6 Ellen suggested that we go back to Best Buy and buy a new remote control. I said fine, I'm bored. So we loaded up the dog and went. We picked up the remote and spent some time looking around. By the time we left it was almost dark.
I stopped at the post office and then went to the elementary school to run the dog. There was a dim light there for her to see by. It was the third day in a row that she'd run a significant distance. She did great. Several times she had to search for the bumper in the dark. She ran great patterns and found it every time. She must have done over 20 retrieves easily.
When we got home we had to change Ellen's bag. Then I surfed and she started programming the new remote. She's still doing it.

Day 392
I woke up before the alarm again today. I didn't feel sleepy, so I played Minions and surfed until about 9:30. Then it was pet stuff, breakfast, and more surfing until about 11. Then we left for an estate sale. It was just north of Nutty Brown Road and 290. The place had a lot of fantastic furniture, but nothing that we could use.
After that we went to Dripping Springs. We stopped at Tractor Supply and bought a new bird feeder. A squirrel destroyed one of them today. I saw the squirrel, but had no chance to shoot him. He ran away when he saw me in the window.
After that we took Lucy to the soccer fields. It was cloudy, damp, and cool. She did 25 retrieves. She's tired now though.
I really wanted to go home, but there was a package at the post office. So we drove there. We stopped on the way for lunch at Trudy's. It was good. I had a mojito because for some reason I really wanted a drink.
After the post office we went home. I took the bird feeder out to the garage and modified it by taking off one of the suet cages and installing a perch and feeding hole. I also replaced the dead receiver with the one we bought yesterday. The old receiver had lasted almost 30 years. I think we got our money's worth.
The final work was hanging the new feeder and hauling a bag of seed from the apartment to the back porch. I kind of tweaked the muscles in my torso when I did that. I'm a little sore.
After that it was surfing and TV for the rest of the day. Throw in a little Minions, too.
