Day 2075

We got up at 6, had breakfast, did pet stuff, and were on the road by 6:35.  The trip down was uneventful and fast.  We had a couple of rabbits that were easy to follow because there wasn't much traffic.

We got down to the club in plenty of time to register.  In fact, we had about half an hour or more to sit around before shooting.

I didn't do well.  This is the first time we've shot the 12 ga guns in months.  They are significantly slower.  It took me the first 5-stand to get used to the feel of the gun.  I shot a little better on the second 5-stand, but overall I sucked.  Ellen didn't do much better.

After the shooting was over we had 8 hours to kill before the dinner.  We decided to check out Creswell.  That didn't take long, it's a small town.  We did find a really good bakery though.  I drove out the other side of town and saw an estate sale sign.  We followed the signs for about 3 miles.  The sale was an old logging business.  It was great fun looking at stuff.  I bought a huge wrench and a home made sledge hammer.

On the way back we ate at Dairy Queen.  We didn't feel like the gun club food.  We got back to the club about noon.  We spent the afternoon talking to people and surfing.  I shot make-a-break with another guy.  It cost me $9 for the ammo and $10 for the ticket.  Woof.

Dinner was really good.  It was catered by a Mexican place.  We bought some drawing tickets, but didn't win anything.  They awarded Ellen her usual price for doing the website.

We left after the drawing.  We made great time on the way back even though we had to stop in Creswell to air up the tires and reset the tire alarm.  When we got home we fed the cats, showered, and went to bed.

Day 2075

I woke up at 8:15 and played games until 10.  Then it was pet stuff and breakfast.  After breakfast I did a little surfing and then went to the shed for the shower repair stuff.

I cut out a piece of tape that wasn't sealing.  I was going to caulk behind it and then replace the tape, but Ellen decided I was doing it wrong.  So I told her it was her job and went back to surfing.  We'll see how it works tonight.

It was hot again today, high 90's.  We hid out in the house, surfed and watched the Olympics.  The only other thing I accomplished all day was getting the guns ready for tomorrow.  We'll have to get up at 6 tomorrow.

Ellen fixed steak on the grill outside for dinner.  It was really good.

Thursday, July 29, 2021

Day 2074

I woke up a little after 8 and played games for a while.  Then it was up for pet stuff and breakfast.  After breakfast I got stuff out of the shed.  I got the caulking stuff for Ellen and a craft knife for me.

Ellen tried more caulking on the shower.  While she was doing that I replaced the keypad on the door and drained the tanks.  I'd had to drain the shower tank late last night, but I hadn't bothered with the kitchen tank.

After that there wasn't much to do.  It was also hot.  It got to 99 degrees in the afternoon.  A little afternoon we got tired of TV (the Olympics) and went to the grocery store.  We got OJ, bananas, lunch meat and bread.

We stopped at Mickey D's on the way home.  We used their ordering kiosk.  It was convenient because we could see the whole menu.  You can't do that with the TV screens that replaced the menu boards.

By the time we got home it was really hot.  We hid out in the trailer and watched TV.  I played a few games, but I'm so far back in the competition that I really have no motivation.

Dinner was leftover pizza.  We have a lot of leftovers to eat up.  After dinner it was  more TV.  It's 78 degrees at 10:30 right now.

Day 2073

We got up about 8, did the pet stuff and had breakfast.  We did a little surfing and then left for John and Patty's.

We were a little early so we stopped at the pet store by Safeway.  They didn't have the cat food or the cat treats we use.  Then we stopped at the liquor store to get some scotch.

John and Patty have Eric's dog right now.  I played with both of them.  We also looked a John's project progress.  He installed new patio door and finished up his outside fire pit.  They both look nice.

We spent the rest of the day and evening talking and watching Patty's pictures of her trip to England.  It was all fun.  Patty and Ellen went to Safeway and bought pork chops for dinner.

We left about 8.  We fueled up in Wilsonville so that we'll have gas for the weekend.

After that it was TV for a while and bed.

Tuesday, July 27, 2021

Day 2072

I got up about 8:15, did the pet stuff and had breakfast.  After that it was time to do the wash.

When the wash was finished we went to Wally World.  We wanted to make sure we have enough TP.  Store shelves are getting a little bare around here.  Biden is doing his thing.  We got what we needed an left.  We stopped at the post office, but there was nothing there.

It was nice outside when we got home.  I sat outside for an hour and a half surfing.  Eventually the shade went away so I went inside.  I continued surfing there and simultaneously watching the Olympics.  Lunch was a salad I bought yesterday.

After lunch was more surfing/Olympics.  It got hot in the afternoon - low 90's.  Dinner was leftover pizza.  After dinner I went for a walk.   It was nice.

Monday, July 26, 2021

Day 2071

I didn't really note when I woke up or got up.  It was fairly late before the cat food and breakfast was done.  After that it was surfing.

I emailed the RV Lock place about the missing membrane switch.  They emailed me back later in the day.  They've already shipped one.  Very cool.

I reset my phone and packed it in the shipping box.  Then we went to the UPS store to ship it off.  There was a line of about 15 people running out the door.  It turns out that the person in line in front of us was someone we knew from Richland.  We had a good talk.  It ust have taken over half an hour to get to the front of the line.

After that we went to the grocery store next door.  It's one of those "no frills" places.  It's well stocked and the prices are measurably lower than the places we've been going to.  We'll add it to the list was usually go to.

We ate lunch at the Thai place by BiMart.  Then we went home.

I was going to surf on the computer, but Cooper wanted to sit with me.  So I used the tablet and sat in the recliner.  Cooper immediately got up to be with me.

We had purchased Yakisoba noodles at the Thai place.  Ellen used it with the Korean chicken for dinner.  It was really good.  There's enough left over for dinner tomorrow.

After dinner was TV.

Sunday, July 25, 2021

Day 2070

We got up at 8.  After pet stuff and breakfast we went to the club.  We were shooting with Duane and Dave.  We ended up riding with them instead of walking.

I shot like shit.  I had a lot of stations where I had a bad case of the floaters.  I did prettty good on the ones where I didn't.  The weather was a little warm, but nothing terrible.  When the shoot was over we ate lunch there and talked with some people for a while.  Then it was back to the trailer.

We put the stuff away and than just sat around surfing.  We were both kind of tired.  That lasted until 5.  Then we went to Safeway for some much needed groceries.  We also made a stop at the post office.

We had pizza for dinner.  After dinner was TV - soccer and the Olympics.

Saturday, July 24, 2021

Day 2069

I woke up at 9 and got up to do the pet stuff.  I didn't get breakfast.  I didn't feel very hungry and I got engrossed in working out the remaining issues with the new phone.

First was connecting it to my watch.  To do that I had to reset the watch.  That meant it lost the watch face I was using.  I spent quite a while trying to locate it again.  I'd totally forgotten what I'd done to get it.  Finally I found it.

The next step was restoring the ringtone and notification sound.  I'd found them yesterday, but I  couldn't get the app on the phone to work.  In desperation I deleted the app.  When I tried to reinstall it, it wouldn't install.  I finally connected the phone to the MiFi.  Then the app would install.  Apparently Google won't install an app over Verizon.  After that it was relatively easy to install the sounds I wanted.

After that I did a little surfing and then decided to tackle the ear buds I bought yesterday.  To do that I had to install another app.  There were more hassles with setting up the app.  I finally got it working.  The good news is that they are great.  They were so good that I immediately went out for a walk listening to the phone.

I was going to install the membrane switches on the door.  When I opened the package there was only one switch, not two.  I'm going to have to hassle with them on Monday.

When I got back I tried to get the buds to work with the tablet.  It took a long time to get that to work.  I had to turn off the phone, link to the tablet, and then turn the phone back on.  Did I mention I had to install the install the ear bud app on the tablet?

I spent the rest of the day and evening watching videos on the tablet and listening lto them on the ear buds.

Ellen fixed BLT's for dinner.  She used the good bacon we got in Halfway.

Friday, July 23, 2021

Day 2068

I woke up a little after 8 and played games until 9.  Then it was up for pet stuff and breakfast.  After breakfast I went out to the shed to get the stuff to fix the shower.

When I looked at the place where we think it's leaking the problem appears to bee where the tape pieces overlap.  Instead of replacing the tape I just had Ellen put some caulk over the gaps.  Hopefully that will fix it.

After everything was put away we left for errands.  I went to the GMC dealer for filters for the truck.  Fuel, air, oil, and cabin filters came to $158.  Woof.  After that we went across the freeway to get cat food.

Something interesting.  Since we've been here the area under the Mission overpass has been wall to wall bums with their junk and tents.  So was the grassy area by the exit road.  It's no completely clean and free of bums.  It was so nice to see.

After that we went to Costco - on a Friday.  The line to get into the parking lot was a block long.  That was because there was a huge number of people waiting for gas.  Once we got in it was easy to find parking and easy to check out.  It was even easy to leave.

I saw some ear buds at Costco that I liked.  I looked them up on the web and Best Buy had them $30 cheaper.  So we went there.  I ended up buying an even more expensive pair of Sony ones.  They have a battery life of 8 hours.  The one's I was using only lasted a couple of hours.

We stopped at Hops and Drops on the way home for a late lunch.  It was Happy Hour, but the bill was still $44.  Part of that was $16.50 in drinks and a $5.50 ice tea.  We stopped at the post office.  The keyboard replacement for the trailer door was there.

We stopped at the club to pay for tomorrow's shoot.  Our new phones were there.  When we got home Ellen figured out how to clone them.  It wasn't straightforward or easy.  I did most of mine, but she had to log onto Verizon to complete it.

The phone seems to be OK except the ringtone is gone.  I tried to re-download it, but the website's server is down.  Crap.  I put on the new screen save instead.  It came out pretty well.  I have extras if I need to redo it.

It was after 8 when everything was done.  I did some surfing and went to bed.  I'm not heavily playing the web game.  Therefore I'm getting creamed.

Thursday, July 22, 2021

Day 2067

I woke up about 8:15 and played games until 9.  then it was pet stuff and breakfast.  I had intended to fix the shower today, but I got involved in playing games.  I played games for hours.  The TV was also on, but I wasn't really watching.

Lunch was a sandwich.  After lunch I went for a walk.  It was in the mid 70's and nice.  I listened to music on the phone while I walked.  That was nice, too.

After the walk it was back to plying games after dealing with some confusion.  All of the outlets on the door side of the kitchen and living room went dead.  There weren't any breakers tripped.  The other kitchen and living room outlets worked fine.  I finally figured out that the dead outlets were GFI'd.  They worked after the GFI was reset.  I have no idea why it was tripped.

Ellen fixed Korean chicken with snow peas for dinner.  After dinner was a lot of TV and a little game playing.

I really need to get the bikes out.  Maybe next week.  There's a touornament on Saturday and I want to go see John and Patty on Sunday.

Wednesday, July 21, 2021

Day 2066

I woke up at 8, but played games until after 9.  Then it was pet stuff and breakfast.  We couldn't do anything today because it's a sewage day.  So my only activity was getting out the stuff for that.  Then we sat around surfing and watching TV until 2 when the sewer guy arrived.

I had Ellen use the tank sprayer I made while we dumped the tank.  It seemed to clean the tank out a little better.  It didn't improve the gauges though.  It did speed up the process though.

When that was done I detached the outside valve and cleaned it.  It was almost too dirty to see the water in it.  Then I put everything away.

Ellen signed us up for 5-stand at the state shoot.  Apparently we're wanted at the banquet, probably because they are going to put Ellen in the hall of fame.  That will make for a long day - up at 6, drive 85 miles, shoot, hang around all day, banquet, and then go home.  And I have to pay for the privilege.

After that it was more TV, surfing, and games.  Ellen fixed frozen jambalaya for dinner.  It was good.

After dinner I got involved in another game tournament. This one lasts 12 days.  I'm not going to play as intensely in this one.  It takes the fun out of it.

Day 2065

I woke up at 8, but played games until 9.  Then it was pet stuff and breakfast.  When that was over we loaded up and went to th laundromat.

We got there later than usual, so there were a few more people there.  There wasn't enough to make ti crowded.  We just sat around while the washing was going.  I called Joe and asked if it would be OK to buy the filters for the truck from the dealer.  He said it was.

We went to Safeway when we got done for some much needed groceries.  Then it was the post office and home.  There was a check from Athene in the mail.  Apparently it's my share ($1,200) of Mom's life insurance.  I emailed Hooch to see what to do with it.

I didn't feel like doing anything when we got home, so I didn't.  The rest of the day and evening was games and TV, with a little surfing on the side.

Monday, July 19, 2021

Day 2064

I woke up a little after 8 today, played games for a while, and then got up for pet stuff and breakfast.  After that it was some surfing - no videos because it's the first day of a new data cycle.

I didn't spnd too much time on videos before I went out to dump the tanks.  It was nice sitting outside.  For some reason it seemed to take longer than usual to dump them.  When that was finished I got some stuff out of the shed to try to stop the shower leak.

I cut away some of the tape and caulking that didn't seem to be working.  I also thoroughly cleaned the shower door track because it was still sticking a little.  When that was done Ellen recaulked the part that I had cleaned.  Then I left it alone for a few hours to let the caulk dry.

After three straight days of shooting I didn't feel like doing it any more.  So it was back to surfing.  Lunch was a sandwich.  After lunch I was bored with surfing.  I played a few games and fell asleep in the recliner.  That wasn't surprising - I stayed up until after 1 last night.  I did win the game tournament I was in.

When I woke up I put new tape down in the shower.  First I made a template and cut the tape to match.  Hopefully that makes it stick better.

The rest of the evening was TV.  We watched a whole series of shows about people buying beach houses.  The show were from 2017.  Prices were a lot lower then.

Ellen fixed hamburgers for dinner.  After dinner was more TV.

I'm afraid I got a little bored today.  I may have to figure out some kind of project.

Sunday, July 18, 2021

Day 2063

I woke up a little after 8 and played games for about half an hour.  Then it was get up for pet stuff and breakfast.  After that it was emails and surfing.  When that was done it was time to go shooting with Gerry.  He brought along Garrett and the Porsche/website guy.

We had a great time shooting.  Everyone did what we have been shooting, choosing interesting shots.  I was pretty tired by the time we were done.  Three consecutive days of shooting will do that, especially when accompanied with having to walk around the course.

When we were done we all went out to lunch at the place in Brooks.  It was great.  We paid for everybody, because Gerry did last time.

I was really tired when I got back home.  I did a little surfing and then went to the recliner for a nap.  I must have slept for a couple of hours.  Ellen woke me up for dinner - leftovers.

After dinner was TV and some game playing.  It was another good day.

Saturday, July 17, 2021

Day 2062

Woke up a little after 8 and played games until after 9.  Then it was pet stuff and breakfast.  Then we loaded up the stuff and went shooting.  We wanted to shoot more of the "all rabbit" station.

We had fun at the station, but it was a little frustrating because one of the three traps kept failing.  We shot a lot of target there though.  Then we shot a few at station 2.  Finally we shot station 1 because we'd missed that yesterday.  There were good practice targets at both.

When we were finished I went out to do reloading.  We're shooting with Gerry tomorrow, so we needed ammunition.  I sorted all of the Winchester hulls and put them away.  I switched the reloader to Remington primers and got out the Remington components.  Unfortunately I have less than a box of Remington primers.

All of the Remington hulls are once fired STS.  I'd forgotten how well the Spolar works with good hulls.  The reloads look like factory.  I took a break for lunch in the middle of the reloading.

When the reloading was done I sent out the last emails needed to set up the safe move.  It will be done in 3 weeks.  We also went to the fame store for snow peas and Roth's for orange juice.  Ellen fixed stir fry noodles and snow peas for dinner.

That was about all of the real activity for the day.  The late afternoon and evening were spent on games and TV.

Friday, July 16, 2021

Day 2061

I woke up at 8 and played games for a little whiles before getting up for pet stuff and breakfast.  Then I got out the stuff and we went out shooting.  It was a little pain in the ass because we had to carry the shells in plastic bags.  We collected empty 20 ga shell boxes so we won't need to do that again.

It was a nice day, not to hot.  We had a good time.  I shot about normal.  Dave has set up a "members only" station with 3 rabbit machines.  It was really fun. especially shooting them as true pairs.  To top it off, Bob was there so I could sell him the 4 boxes of 20 ga 9's I'd set aside.

When we got home I went out to do reloading.  I sorted all of the hulls, there was about a 10% death rate.  By then it was lunch time, so I went inside.  When lunch was over I went back out to continue.  That's when I found out I didn't have any wads.

Apparently I planned on loading Remington cases last fall.  I only had about 150 Winchester wads.  I loaded them up.  Luckily I have plenty of Remington components, so I'll just switch to them.  I don't even have to change the reloader.

After that I did a little surfing and then went out to drain the tanks.  I ended up spending a lot of time outside playing games.  It was nice sitting in the shade.

Eventually I came in for dinner (leftovers) and a little more surfing.  Then it was TV for the rest of the night.

Thursday, July 15, 2021

Day 2060

I woke up at 8 and played games for 2 hours.  It's great not to have anything on the todo list.  Then it was up for breakfast.  Ellen got up earlier and fed the cats.

After that it was surfing and videos.  About 11:30 I decided to go to McMinnville for the farmer's market.  As we were about to leave I met Terry.  I sold hime 200 labs of 9 shot for $250.  That was cheap, but I don't really care.

The drive to McMinnville was great.  It was a nice day and we got to park front row center on the ferry.  There wasn't any traffic to slow me down either.  That changed when we got to McMinnville.  They were repairing the road to downtown.  There was a half mile or more backup because it was an alternating 1 lane.

The farmer's market was fun.  We bought some smoked salmon, brownies, and strawberries.  We ate at the bakery we usually go to.  The weather was gorgeous.  Sunny, but not too hot.  The ride home was nice also, but we had to ride in the middle of the ferry.

When we got home I didn't feel like doing anything, so it was TV and games.  Ellen fixed Korean chicken and rice for dinner.  After dinner was a John Wick marathon - all three movies.

Wednesday, July 14, 2021

Day 2059

I woke up at 8, played games for a while, and then got up for pet stuff and breakfast.  After that it was outside to wash the trailer.

I got everything set up and started to wash the trailer.  It was actually pretty pleasant.  The trailer was still mostly in the shade and the temperature was in the low 70's.  Ellen came out to help.she did a couple of little things, but there wasn't much for her to do.

Washing the trailer wasn't as hard as washing the roof.  I had to use the ladder, but there wasn't as much hard scrubbing.  It did get hotter while I worked, but it get really hot.  Ellen helped by moving the slides in and out as I washed different parts of the trailer.

When I was finished with the ladder I had Ellen start to wash the windows.  I finished washing the trailer and put everything away while she kept washing.  I finished first, so it  was nice to sit in the chair outside in the shade in breeze while she finished up.

When Ellen was done we went inside for a short time to recuperate.  Then we left for Costco.  The cup on one of my hearing aids broke and I needed a replacement.  We needed gas, so we stopped at the gas station.  Miraculously we immediately pulled up to a pump.  The gas was 27 cents cheaper than anywhere else.

We shopped while the hearing aids were being fixed.  We got water, some dinner stuff, a new razor, Flonaze, and a key lime pie.  It was an expensive trip.  My old razor needs blades - $40.  The new razor came with a second set of blades and cost $90.  It's also a nicer razor.

Costco was really crowded.  The checkout lines were huge.  For some reason the self checkout lines opened up just as we wanted to check out.  We walked up to an empty one and did our thing.

The pharmacy called to say Ellen's drugs were finally ready.  The only problem today was the drive back.  The jalapenos I ate yesterday decided to attack.  I had to stop at Lowe's for a bout of explosive diarrhea.  I never would have made it to Woodburn.

The Mickey D's in Woodburn has opened it's inside.  We got lunch and ate it outside at their tables.  It was nice.  The fries were great.  Then we picked up Ellen's drugs and went home.

The rest of the day was TV, games, and surfing.  Dinner was leftovers and key lime pie.  We froze about half of it.

After dinner was TV.

Tuesday, July 13, 2021

Day 2058

We woke up at 7:30 and I played games until about 8.  Then it was pet stuff and breakfast, followed by a trip to the laundromat.  lI spent the time at the laundry shopping for a case for the new phone.  I found a neat one.  When the laundry was done we made a quick stop at Safeway and another at the post office.

When we got home I didn't feel like doing anything.  I spent most of the day watching videos.  Ellen watched chick flicks.  Lunch was a Mexican kolache that we got at the Mexican bakery.  It was OK, but I dread what the jalapenos are likely to do to my digestive system.

I called Grant and told him to move the stock.  Then I handed the phone to Ellen and she arranged moving the money to the investment account.

Ellen fixed sausage and leftover french fries for dinner.  After dinner I checked the tanks.  They needed draining, so I drained them and then went for a walk.  I really enjoyed the first half, but got tired on the second half.

The rest of the evening was TV.  Tomorrow I'll wash half, and maybe all, of the trailer.

Monday, July 12, 2021

Day 2057

I   woke up little after 6 and played games for 2 hours.  Then it was up for pet stuff and breakfast.  As soon as I was done I went out to wash the trailer roof.

I set up the hose, ladder, and a bucket of soap.  Ellen helped me get everything up on the roof.  I spent the next 1.5 to 2 hours hosing off the roof, scrubbing it, and then rinsing it off.  It was hot by the time I finished.  I was soaked in sweat and tired and sore.

I went back inside and surfed for a while.  Ellen made an appointment at 2 to see about getting a new phone.  We left a little after 1.  That gave me enough time to get cat food and drugs.

I'll never understand Verizon's pricing.  We're getting two new phones  for less than $250.  That includes $140 that we owe on the old ones.  What's more, I'm getting an enhanced plan for my phone and the monthly bill is going to go down by $20.  We also save $220 in sales tax.

There are a couple of downsides.  We're going to have to do the data transfers to the new phones ourselves.  Also, I won't get my phone for 2 weeks and Ellen won't get her's for three weeks.

We stopped at Roth's for orange juice and then went home.  The rest of the afternoon was surfing and game playing.

Ellen fixed a frozen bag dinner for dinner.  It was good.  After dinner was TV and game playing.

Sunday, July 11, 2021

Day 2056

I woke up at 8 and played games until 11.  I'm in another net contest.  After that it was up for breakfast and a little surfing.  Then I went out to wash the trailer roof.

I wheeled the hose cart over to the water spigot.  That's when I noticed that one of the wheels was coming apart.  It had lost all but 1 of it's four bolts.  In addition all 4 tires were flat.  I found three bolts that would fit and repaired the bad wheel.  It was a pain.  Then I tightened the bolts on the other three wheels.  They were all loose.  Then I got out the compressor and aired up all four tires.

By the time I got all of that done and things put away it was too hot to climb up on the roof.  I gave up and went back inside.  I ddi email John and Hooch about moving the safes.

I spent the next several hours converting the three recorded books I bought yesterday into mp3 files.  Then I put them on the USB stick in the truck.  At least I accomplished something.  Ellen did another round of caulking in the shower.  At least the leaks are very small now.

Dinner was a TV dinner.  After dinner was TV.  Maybe I'll get the roof done tomorrow.

Saturday, July 10, 2021

Day 2055

I woke up about 8 and spent an hour playing games.  Then it was pet stuff and breakfast.  I did a little surfing and then we left for Silverton to go to the farmer's market.

We took a new way to get there courtesy the truck's GPS.  It was an interesting drive through a part of the valley we hadn't seen before.  When we got there we had to park a couple of block from downtown to avoid the parking meters.  So what.

We toured the craft s show, the farmer's market, and three or four antique stores.  We lucked out at one place where we bought 3 recorded books for $18.  I bought a stunning photo of pink flamingos at another place.  We had lunch at an outdoor restaurant.  They were short handed thanks to Biden, so they warned us that food would take 45 minutes.  I didn't care, they had Guinness.  The food was good and inexpensive.

After that we went home.  It was hot, about 90.  I went to the shed and put together the "wand" for the toilet.  It works great.  Then I installed the third water splitter in the trailer.  We'll have to see how it works.

I surfed until dinner - bacon wrapped chicken.  After dinner it was TV supplemented with surfing.  All in all it was a nice day.  I'm sure glad I don't feel crappy like I did yesterday.

Friday, July 9, 2021

Day 2054

I'm not sure when I got up, it wasn't early.  I felt like shit.  I had a fever and was VERY fatigued.  I played games for a while and then struggled out of bed.  Ellen fdid the pet stuff and there was no way I wanted to eat.

I sat at the laptop for hours watching YouTube videos.  I would occasionally get a small snack to eat, but no serious meals.  Eventually my ass gave out and I moved to the recliner.  The TV was on, but of course I went to sleep.

The guy from the safe moving firm called back.  He wants me to send him some info on the safes and where they are going.

When I woke up I was felling marginally better.  By 7 I felt good enough to eat some BBQ pork and jello for dinner.  I spent the evening watching TV.

By bed time I almost felt human again.  Hopefully I'll be back to normal tomorrow

Thursday, July 8, 2021

Day 2053

I woke up at 8 today and played games until a little before 9.  Then it was pet stuff and breakfast.  I'd planned on doing something useful, but ended up just surfing until it was time to go to Freddie's.

We got to Freddie's almost half an hour early.  We did a little shopping, and then I went to the pharmacy.  It took a little longer because apparently charging Medicare in a different state takes some extra messing around.  I got my shot, waited 15 minutes, and left.  We finished our shopping and drove to Lowe's.

I spent a lot of time putting together the collection of parts necessary to make a toilet sprayer.  I ended up with 5 separate parts - total cost $6.60.  I still need to mess around with them to assemble the final thing.

After Lowe's we went to Outback Steakhouse.  Ellen had a gift card from somewhere.  The food was pretty good except for my steak, which was pretty tough.  After that we went home.  We picked up a couple of packages when we got there.

One package had the hooks I needed to hang the kitchen sink basket.  They were too long, so I went to the garage and shortened them.  It took a while because I needed to remove the hooks from the mounts, shorten them, rebend them, and then put them back in the mounts.  I took three hooks to remount the basket.  I hope they work now.

I haven't felt really sick, but I was really tired.  I sat down in the recliner and napped for two+ hours.  I woke up at 8.  I wasn't very hungry, so dinner was some watermelon.  After that was TV until time for bed.

Day 2052

I woke up about 8 and played games until 9.  Then it was up for pet stuff and breakfast.

Today was a dump the black tank day, so we really couldn't do anything until the sewer guy showed up.  That meant surfing and a little more game playing.  Ellen left for a while to get a blood test in Woodburn.  She came back with some groceries, the high point of the day.

Lunch was a sandwich.  The sewer guy showed up about 3.  Things went quicker today because I had the higher volumes T fitting and I had Ellen filling the toilet with water.  The sewer guy was appreciative.  I'm going to improve the process by building a sprayer for Ellen to use.

The only other things I accomplished today were setting up an appointment for the second COVID shot tomorrow and a walk after dinner.

Ellen fixed chicken, mashed potatoes, and beans for dinner.  It was really good.  After dinner was more TV.

Day 2051

I woke up at 8,got up and did the pet stuff and breakfast.  Then we loaded up the car and went to the laundromat.  There were only two other people there.  We finished with the wash just in time to go to the dentist.

We got to the dentist about 15 minutes early.  We had to drive slower than normal because there were cops on I5.  They're the first I've seen on I5 in months.  I went in with Ellen, and they took me right away even though my appointment was for 4:30.  The dentist fixed my tooth while Ellen waited for the novacaine to kick in.  Then I waited outside for about 20 minutes while the dentist finished her crown.

Pat wanted us to et hamburger, buns, and corn before we went there.  Safeway didn't have corn, so we ended up going to Freddie's, too.  Then we went to their house for the standard drinking and conversation.  John needed some help taking down a large canopy, so I helped him.  Other than that it was mainly sitting out on the deck talking.

We stayed until a little after 8.  There wasn't much traffic, and no cops, on the way home.  When we got home it was make the bed, take a shower, and get in bed.

Day 2050

I woke up at 7:30 and played games for about an hour.  Then it was up for [et stuff and breakfast.  After that I did a little surfing.  That didn't last long before I decided to get something accomplished.

I started by rerouting the cord on the hair dryer.  That doesn't sound like much, but it involved unhooking the cord, threading it through the dryer holder, and then rehooking the cord.  It took my spatially challenged self some time to do it.

I went out to the shed and got some tools.  Then I started to install the light I got a few days ago in the bathroom.  The light I was getting power from came out fairly easily.  I could use the fish rod to reach where I wanted the new light, but there was a ceiling support in the way that made things awkward.  Then I measured and drilled the hole for the new light.  It took some finesse to get the end of the fish rod positioned.  I had to tie two washers on the end of a string, tie the string to the end of the fish rod, and drop the washers through the new light hole.

After that it was pretty straightforward to cut the existing light's wires and splice in an extension to the new light.  The final step was attaching the new light to the ceiling.  I was quite proud of myself when I was done.

I was tired when I got done.  I didn't get much sleep last night.  I sat down with Cooper in the recliner and had about a 2 hour nap.  When I woke up it was time for a late lunch - a sandwich.  After lunch was more TV.  No games.  The last tournament has made me want to taper off.

The rest of the afternoon and evening was TV.  Dinner was leftovers.  I was going to go for a walk, but it was 90 degrees.

Day 2049

I woke up at 7:30 and played games for about an hour.  Then it was up for pet stuff and breakfast.  After that it was surfing.  I was enjoying not having to think about greasing the trailer.

That got old fairly quickly, so I went out to the shed and put away all of the stuff that I'd used yesterday.  I had been too tired to do it yesterday.  After that I decided to celebrate the 4th by not doing anything else.  I went back into the house to watch TV.

Ellen pointed out a video of a huge flash flood that had wrecked Zion a couple of days ago.  It had really done a lot of damage.  That led to me spending a bunch of time looking at descriptions of the flooding on the web.  There was a lot of property damage and a lot of vehicles were damaged.  The water was 3 feet high at the main entrance parking lot.

When I ran out of videos we decided to go out.  We went to Wally World because we needed ass wipe, bananas, and lunch meat.  I wanted to get some whipping cream, but they didn't have any.  All they had was fake whipping cream.  I was on a mission, so we went to Safeway.  We got the whipping cream and a couple of other things.

When we got home it was TV and games.  Ellen fixed hot dogs on the grill outside.  I ate outside, but she stayed inside.  After dinner I watch videos on my tablet.  It's getting late enough in the month that I can start watching them on the computer.

Day 2048

I woke up about 7:30 and played games for an hour or so.  Then it was pet stuff and breakfast.  After that I went out to prepare to grease the wheel bearings.  I drained the tanks.  While that was going on I unboxed the grease gun and loaded it.  I tested it and it worked fine.  Then I got out the new jack stands.

When that was done I had Ellen pull in the slides.  I was going to use a jack to raise the wheels, but there isn't any place to put the jack.  I used the trailer jacks instead.

We started on the door side because it was in the shade.  I got the covers off the first wheel and connected the grease gun.  The damn thing didn't work.  I played with it for a while, but couldn't get it to work.  I ended up going to Woodburn for a grease gun, two grease tubes, and some shop towels.  It wasn't all bad.  It turned out I needed the extra tube and the towels.

I got back, put the new gun together, and finally got to do some greasing.  I ended up putting way too much grease in the first wheel.  It too quite a while using a screwdriver and lots of paper towels to remove the excess.  The second wheel went better.

There are 3 zerks on the suspension for each wheel.  I had to crawl under the trailer to get to them.  It was a pain.  Then we switched to the sunny side of the trailer  By then it was hot, and hotter in the sun.  That side of the trailer was a replay of the first with two differences.  I didn't use as much grease so cleaning went quicker  I still had to stop halfway through and use the second grease tube.

When that was done I took everything back to the shed.  I was way too hot and tired to put things away.  I'll do that tomorrow.  I went inside instead and surfed.  It tookan hour before I felt good enough to do anything else.

We need cable holders and paper towels.  So we went to Lowe's.  We stopped at the restaurant in Brooks on the way.  It was really good.  I had a gin and tonic that was a full size glass.  We got the stuff and Lowe's and went home.

The truck went into regen on the way home.  I dropped Ellen at the trailer (she had to shit) and kept driving.  I drove all the way to the French Prairie farm store before the regen was over.  Then I turned around and came home.  I was feeling really good now that the job I'd dreaded since before we got here was done.  It did suck as much as I thought it would, but it was done.

I was still tired, so I sat in the recliner to "watch TV".  Of course I fell asleep just like I thought I would.  I woke up afte 7.  We had leftovers from lunch for dinner.  After dinner was soccer.

Day 2047

I woke up a little before 8 and played games until 9.  I'm in another multiplayer contest.  I'm doing OK, but there's a guy that is really pushing me.  Fortunately I did pretty well today.

After pet stuff and breakfast I started work on some small things.  I took the 20 ga out and cleaned the rust off the breach.  I also gave the barrels a light cleaning.  Then I reattached the cover for the shower skylight.  It has come partially detached because of the heat.  I also left a message with a safe moving company.

I was going to go get cord clips for the hair dryer cord, but Gerry called.  He was coming down to shoot.  So I surfed waiting for him to get here.  Unfortunately he was a little late due to traffic.  We had a great time shooting when he got here though.  It was a little warm,, but not really hot.  I told him we were moving the Intel stock.  It was a slightly painful conversation.

It was after 2 when we got done.  Ellen went out to clean her gun.  I had to help her remove a stuck choke.  Then I had a sandwich for lunch.

After lunch it was getting into the high 80's, so we stayed inside, surfed, and watched TV.  I did a little game playing, too.  Ellen spent some time caulking the outside of the shower surround.  It doesn't leak much any more, and I hope that takes care of the problem.

Ellen fixed stir fry for dinner.  After dinner was TV.

Day 2046

I woke up at 6:30 because my eye was dry.  I didn't get back to sleep due to a bunch of crap.  First, I had to refill the eye drop container.  Then I had to brush the toilet because the seal was leaking.   I almost lost the brush head down the toilet.  When I put the brush back the container leaked water all over the floor.  When that was done I went to the kitchen to wash my hands and the sponge holder broke off the sink.

I gave up trying to sleep and just played games.  After a while I got up to do pet stuff and have breakfast.  Then I surfed until 9:30.  I wanted to make sure the stores were open.

The first stop was Best Buy.  Ellen wanted to buy a $400 hair dryer.  So we did.  Then we stopped at a home store for a toilet brush and the pet store for cat food.  We dropped off some stuff at Goodwill and then went to the Keizer farm store.  We bought stir fry stuff and strawberries.

By then it was lunch time, so we went to Hops and Drops.  I decided to be a big spender.  I had a drink, two appetizers, and dessert.  The leftovers covered dinner.  We decided to go to the phone store to get new phones.  They wouldn't talk to us because we didn't have an appointment.  So we went back to Best Buy.  They didn't have the same deal Verizon had.

On the way back we stopped at the GMC dealer.  I had the VIN, but they couldn't find the correct match.  I have to find the paint code.  Theparts guy mentioned that there might be a two month wait to get some.  Crap.

I was tired when we got home.  Cooper and I sat in the recliner.  I played games and he slept.  After a while so did I.

Dinner was leftovers from the restaurant.  After that I watched YouTube.  We have enough bandwidth saved up to cover the last half of the month.
