We didn't do much today. We read and surfed the morning away. After lunch we went to the grocery store. We needed several things. We stopped a Circle C on the way home. Lucy did an amazing number of retrieves. I think the Zukies I gave her last night did some good. I decided not to go to any estate sales. I just didn't feel like it.
It was in the 70's today. That's a fine temperature for the 11 of January if you ask me.
More reading and surfing when we got home. We left at 6:15 to go to wrestling. I35 was jammed (surprise, surprise). So we went up Mopac and cut across on Enfield. That's a street we'd never been in before. We took a back way to the parking garage and had no traffic problems at all. At the garage they told us to go to the cashier's office. There they took my parking confirmation sheet and gave me this magnetic card. The lady told us to use it to leave and to call if there was any problem. The garage was several blocks away from the arena, so we had a walk after we parked. We still got to our seats in plenty of time.
The wrestling was interesting. Some of the moves those guys made were pretty impressive. Some of them were very big dudes. They were upwards of 250 pounds with no fat on them. A couple weighed around 350. They had bellies, but not big ones.
The matches were clearly scripted, and the script didn't change. There was a good guy and a bad guy. The good guy gets beat up for most of the match, but always comes back and wins in the end. There was one match where the bad guy was a "world champion". In that match the bad guy won.
The crowd was weird. They kept cheering like the outcome of the matches wasn't determined ahead of time. When a bad guy was hurt they cheered, even though it was obvious he wasn't really hurt. When a good guy was down, they cheered even though it was obvious he would win in the end. It sort of explains how Obama got elected.
Afterwards when we got back to the garage the card the cashier showed me didn't work. From what she said before I kind of think she knew it wouldn't. We had to call a phone number to make sure we could leave without getting fined. They said it would be OK. Of course there were several pissed off people lined up behind us while we did this. I hope I don't end up with a nasty letter from the parking people.
All in all we had a good time.
