I woke up at 7:45, got up and did the pet stuff and had breakfast. After that it was ouitside to hook up and leave. That was uneventful and we left at 9.
The trip was pretty straightforward until we got to El Paso. I did have to stop at a "picnic area" to take a shit in the trailer. I had a bad case of diarrhea.
Traffic in El Paso wasn't bad, but the road leading out of downtown was. They are rebuilding it so traffic is on two narrow lanes bordered by concrete barriers. It's a fairly steep grade, so trucks were crawling up it. That put me in the left lane between truck and barriers. It wasn't fun.
The truck did a regen during the trip. It ended with a 25% soot level. That's really high. It's done that once before without problems, so I'm oping it isn't a problem.
I hadn't been watching the fuel gauge. We went 300 miles at 9 MPG. When we got to the park the gauge read empty. We got fuel as soon as we set up. We really had 6 gallons left. I've NEVER let a vehicle get that low. We also ran down to 120 miles of DEF, too. I was prepared for that and put some in when we got to the park.
That was pretty much it for the day. We did the laundry, watched TV, surfed, and played with the dog. We got out a new "obedience" lead for her. It calms her down well.
We also planned some more of the trip. We'll go to Vegas and then St. George. Ellen made reservations for both places. She needs to make some calls before we finalize the rest.
