Day 167

Last night was a pain in the ass.  I went to bed about 11 (remember I got up at 4).  About 12:30 Lucy woke me up barking at a deer on the deck.  It was trying to get into the bird seed.  I got back to sleep and about an hour later the weather alarm went off.  It warned of a bad thunderstorm.  So at 1:45 I'm outside putting the car in the garage.  The radio was right.  The storm hit just as I was getting back in the house.

There was a high wind and continual thunder and lightning.  It was on top of us and the thunder shook the house.  Lucy was not happy.  There was a little hail.  It sounded like someone was throwing gravel against the kitchen window.  I watched the rain gauge go up about half an inch in about 5 minutes.  Of course I couldn't sleep in all of that.  The temperature dropped 15 degrees in about half an hour.  The storm lasted about 45 minutes, then I could get back to sleep.

With all that I didn't wake up until after 8:30.  I had breakfast and then got to work cleaning.  I vacuumed the rest of the house, including going over all of the baseboards.  I also rearranged the stuff in the office so that it was a lot neater.  I had to empty the vacuum several times.  I also had to stop and cut all of Ellen's hair from around the beater.  It had jammed it up.  There was quite a handful when I was done.

That took almost 3 hours.  After lunch I went to the post office.  The latest Amazon packages were there - some lighted USB cables and a wireless headphone.  I stopped at the field and Lucy did 25 long retrieves.  Again she didn't want to stop.  I gassed up the car (estate sales tomorrow) and bought some lunch and dinner stuff at HEB.

When I got home I just didn't want to do any more cleaning.  So I surfed and read.  One of my goals is to make a dent in the pile of magazines that has accumulated.  I made a start.

After dinner I turned on the TV for noise and read.  I also did a little Minions.  It will probably be another day before I'm ready for another party.
