I woke up and did the pet stuff and had breakfast. Then I surfed for a while because it was a little too early to leave for Hondo. After that it was load up the truck and go.
I took the truck because yesterday it went into regen about 10 miles from home. When I started it up it showed 100% soot. It warmed up and then went into regen again. However, it only stayed in regen fro a short time, no more than 5 miles. When it quite it read 4% soot (the lowest ever). Fuel mileage was great, too. The trip to Hutto, through San Antonio, was 21.9 mpg. That's going 70 to 80 all of the way (yeah, light traffic).
Unfortunately both the donut shop and BBQ place in Hutto were shut on Mondays. We ended up at Mickey D's. We got to the breeder about 12:30.
We had a great talk with the breeder while she let Abby's (that's her name) litter run wild. We actually had our choice of two dogs. We went with one because I liked the marking better and the breeder recommended it. I think we did OK. Minnie looked great though. I'm going to always wonder if she was better.
I'm not sure when we got back on the road, probably about 2. We went back through Bandera. We did take a short cut through Boerne and a back road around Bulverde. MPG for the whole trip was 19.4.
Abby and her mates had been eating horse shit while they were out. She barfed up her share while we were going home. We stopped at Tomlinson's for some shampoo. When we got home Ellen took Abby out back while I unloaded everything and cleaned the truck and the kennel.
It was after 5 when we got back. We played with the dog and did a little training. The dog catches on VERY quickly. We've got a start at sit, down, off, and come. Potty training went well. We followed the instructions and the dog went outside several times to do it's thing. It didn't have any accidents.
Dinner was leftovers. After dinner Abby spent a little time playing and a lot of time sacked out. We'll see how the night goes. Apparently a 4 AM call might be in store.
