I woke up alittlebefore8 and played games until almost 10. Then I got up for pet stuff and breakfast. After breakfast I decided to finish the wiring on the BBX.
Most of the work wasn't hard, but it was tedious. I soldered another 3 resistors and stripped the 9 negative wires. I twisted them together and then tested every thing to make sure all of the individual LEDs were working. They were. I partially soldered the negative wires together and twisted the resistor leads together. That's when things went south. Suddenly the lights didn't work. They flashed briefly and then wouldn't work again. I thought I'd blown everything.
I untwisted the resistors and started testing each one. At first nothing worked. Then I moved the connection to the negative wire. Things started to work. The partial solder job wasn't good enough. I completely soldered it and things started working. I learned that twisting that many wires together didn't make a good connection. I twisted all of the resistors back together and soldered them. Everything still worked. Finally I connected the receiver and plugged in a battery. That worked, too. SUCCESS.
I put everything away. I still felt like messing around, so I got out the SCX24. I'd run across some axle extensions for it while I was getting stuff together for the BBX. I figured out how they worked (no instructions) and installed them. While I was doing that I noticed that a screw had fallen out of the suspension. Of course a search through everything found that I didn't have a replacement. I had to order some from Amazon.
While I was doing that Amain sent me a email with some discounts on a SCX24 parts. I decided to buy a few upgrade parts to make it more competitive with the FX24. They should be here in a few days.
After that I was finished with RC for the day. I spent the rest of the day with a little surfing and a lot of videos. There might have been a nap in there, too. Of course both lunch and dinner were leftovers.
