Today was a 400+ mile drive from Las Vegas to Wells NV. This is a route we hadn't been on before and we had been worried about fuel before we went. So I filled up the diesel can last night when I filled up the truck. It turned out to be a non-issue. The prices were even half way good. However, if we had had a head wind it would have been a different story.
The drive was 7.5 mind numbing hours watching the ugly Nevada landscape. The only interesting thing was that we kept driving in and out of rain storms. Some of them were quite heavy, but all of them were brief. At least they were brief when you're driving through them at 63 mph.
The park at Wells was pretty nice for such a little town. About half an hour after we got there a big thunderstorm parked itself over the town. It rained hard for half an hour and then rained medium for another hour or more. Who would have thought we would get rain in Nevada.
