Day 1245

I woke up at 6:15.  I got up 15 minutes later when the alarm went off.  I did the pet stuff and then left for Hog Heaven.  I stopped on the way at the gas station for much needed coffee.

I got there at 7:20.  The kids had been there since 7 and had all of their stuff.  By the time I got there they were out of badges - but I did get a t-shirt.  After a second orientation (remember Thursday?) I finally managed to track down the lady who could tell me what station I was on.  I took my stuff out to the station and then went back and waited at the clubhouse.

Unfortunately there was nothing in the silent auction that I wanted to buy.  The live auction had a GSP puppy as an item.  I made sure I left before the auction, the temptation might have been too much.

They had trouble with their electronic scoring tablets, so the shoot started after 9:30.  It was supposed to start at 9.  It was the standard charity shoot.  The only thing of note was the weather.  It was supposed to be mid-70's.  Instead it was low 60's.  A strong wind came up about halfway through.  It was cold.  I was really glad I'd bought a rain jacket.  The poor kid with me had shorts and a t-shirt.

The kid was really nice.  He was very outgoing and did a good job.  He's a junior and is planning on going to the Air Force Academy.  The UT trap and skeet coach was shooting and was interested in him.  I told the kid to make sure he got the coach's number.  It's always good to have a plan B.

The shoot ended a little after noon.  I got lunch - it was a really good BBQ.  They had brisket, sausage, beans, and potato salad.  There were cupcakes for dessert.  I stopped at HEB on the way home to get paper plates and forks for the pot luck tomorrow.  I'll get a Costco cake in the morning.

When I got home I fed the cats.  Devyn ate well.  Then I did some surfing and edited some music.  At 5 I took the dog to the mailbox.  When I got back I fed everybody.  Devyn wouldn't eat anything.  He was also dragging his ass.  Finally, there was red stuff coming out of his ear and it stank bad.  Essentially he was in the same condition he was in when we first took him to emergency a month ago.

I called the vet.  They said to bring him in.  I got there before 6.  A little after 7 they put us in a room.  A little after 8 they took him away to work on him.  They came back about 9:15.  They cleaned his ear, agreed that the infection was back, gave me some antibiotics, and charged me $200.  I'm supposed to call them on Monday.

I stopped at Arby's for a sandwich and ice cream at the yuppie grocery store.  I also got the mail.  Devyn yelled al the way home.

When we got home I fed the cats and gave Lucy her Kong.  Devyn ate his dinner and some more.  He's also more active.  I guess it was worth it.

I didn't get home until 10.  I watched a little TV and then went to bed.
