I woke up at 7:45 this morning, turned over and went back to sleep until 8:15. After pet stuff and breakfast I went out to finish work on the trailer.
First I unscrewed the anode rod from the water heater. Unfortunately I forgot to let off the pressure. The rod shot out and I got covered with water mixed with little white particles. So it was inside for a change of clothes. Luckily it's wash day, so they just went into the wash.
The old rod was almost completely gone. I used the cleaning nozzle I'd ordered to clean out the tank. It didn't seem to be very dirty. Then I put the old one partially back in.
Then I hooked up the compressor and blew all of the water out of the water lines. I spent a lot of time making sure I had all the water out that I could get out. The last act was to close the slides and lock it up.
The trailer didn't take that long to deal with, so I decided to do some other small tasks. I moved the bike rack from the well house to the back shed. I think I hurt my back doing it - it's hurt all day since. I also put up the new flamingo and tractor in the back yard. Unfortunately the Minion is no more.
After that I'd run out of little tasks. So I surfed until lunch.
After lunch we went to the post office and Wally World. Unfortunately Wally World didn't have anode rods. Home Depot didn't have the strings for the new trimmer, but Lowe's did (yeah!). The last stop was Circle C to run the dog. She didn't want to. It may have been because it was 80, or it might have been because she'd spent a lot of time today chasing squirrels.
The vet called when we got home. Apparently Taiko's kidneys are so bad that he's not long for this world. We're going to try a hospital treatment to help him out - no guarantees. He's going in tomorrow. We're also going to start Fletcher on fluids. Apparently he's got bad kidneys, too. I told Ellen to start looking for new kittens.
After that wonderful news I did gunsmithing. The parts for my 10/22 and Ellen's 22/45 came in. Her gun took a minute or two to add the slide handle. Mine took a little longer, but wasn't hard. The mods reduced the trigger pull from 6.75 lbs to 3.25 lbs. That's a great improvement and it was fun to do.
The evening was surfing, reading and half listening to the TV.
