This was a pretty good day. It didn't start off good. I lost out on a converter that I was trying to buy on Craig's list.
So I took the implements of destruction to the house and worked on the antenna install. I finished the cable supports and removed the braces from the antenna pole. Then I pounded in the stakes for the guy wires and started making up the wires. About half way through I broke for lunch. After lunch we went over to Radio Shack to exchange the cable I bought yesterday for an audio cable. We also took the dog to the park for some retrieves.
While we were out a seller from Craig's list called about a surround sound receiver that he's selling for $45. I set up a time to meet him after 5:00.
When we got back I finished up the guy wires. I thought that would be difficult, but it turned out not to be too bad. It's probably the first part of the whole install that didn't turn into an unexpected pain in the ass. When I was finished the pole was within a degree of perfect vertical. I had some extra time, so I put the antenna together. It looks pretty sturdy. I hope it works as good as it looks.
Then we went out to meet the guy from Craig's list and bought the receiver. As long as it works, it's a very good deal.
One note. The TV mount from Samsung came today. It's just a couple of hooks and some cable. For $200 it's a colossal ripoff.
