I woke up at 7:30 and played games for about half an hour Then it was up for pet stuff and breakfast. After breakfast I went out to work on the fence.
Today's main activity was digging the two post holes. Ellen helped me lay out where the two holes would be. Then she went to lay concrete blocks while I dug. For both holes there was about 2 inches of dirt before the rock started. I dug a few inches with a pick and then it was all spud bar. I made both holes 12 inches wide and 16 inches deep. The first one was almost all through solid rock. The second was about half solid rock.
I was very hot and tired by the time I got done. I actually had to stop halfway through the second hole and sit in a deck chair for a while. It probably took at least 2.5 hours to dig the two holes. When I was finished I went to help Ellen. I had to use the pick to bust up rock to set one of the blocks.
When that was done we went inside for a late lunch (leftovers). After that it was surfing until I felt like I could function again. By then it was 78 degrees out and about 2:30. Ellen and I went back out to determine how long the two fence poles needed to be. That involved a lot of measuring and figuring. We eventually settled on the lengths. Then I cut them with a hack saw. That way we can plant them both tomorrow.
I was going to make up the extension for the gate post, but I was too tired. Instead I walked up to the mailbox to pick up a package.
Hooch called. It's supposed to snow in Portland on Wednesday. He may come in on Tuesday instead.
I watched videos until dinner (frozen pizza). After dinner it was more videos until an early bed time.
