Day 1678

We got up a little before 8.  We didn't have to get up any sooner because we didn't have to go very far.  There was no reason to get there before checkin time.  After breakfast we packed up the trailer and left the park.

We made good time.  There were a few small issues.  We drove at least 50 miles through a rainstorm that was pretty heavy at time.  We also had a miles long segment where it was a two lane road.  That slowed us down some.  The worst was the tire monitor showing on of the trailer tires at 45 psi.  Fortunately it was on a section with an uphill lane and a wide gravel shoulder.  I pulled over and checked all four tires with a gauge.  They were all fine.  When I got back in the truck the monitor was reading correctly.  That was a big relief.

We were getting OK, but not great, mileage.  It hovered between 9.1 and 9.5.  That gave us enough fuel to make it the 270 miles to Boise.  Things got a little tenuous when we hit a strong headwind about 50 miles out.  We made it though, with 6 gallons left.  It was kind of fun making it a whole day without refueling.

We unhooked when we set up.  I used the process from the YouTube video I saw yesterday.  I had to modify it a little, but the truck slid right out of the hitch.  That's the first time we've done that.  I'm happy.

We gassed up at a Fred Meyer's.  With their card it was $2.20.  This is the lowest we've seen it in Idaho.  We also did some "we're leaving civilization" grocery shopping.  We stopped at Mickey D's for a snack.  Then we went back to the park.

We took Lucy for a walk through the park.  We looked at a lot of trailers and stopped to talk to one of the full timers.  It was fun.  When we got back we read and watched TV until dinner.  Ellen fixed BLT's.

The temp today never got to 70.  It was nice to go outside without boiling.  It also allowed me to put the cat stained glass back in the door window.  I also got to fix the screen door latch.  The latches are really frustrating Cooper.  He actually bit the door handle in frustration.

After dinner was more TV and a little surfing.  We only have 168 miles to go tomorrow.
