Day 1248

I got up at 8:40.  It was cold again this morning so I surfed after pet stuff and breakfast.  Devyn ate pretty well.  After breakfast he and Cooper ran around playing for quite awhile.  They even helped me a little when I took the sheets off the bed to wash them.

It warmed up pretty fast and by 11 it was warm enough to go out and start digging.  I should have started a little earlier.  It was still cool, but I was soon soaked with sweat.  The first 8 inches were dirt and went pretty quickly.  Then I hit rock and had to use the pick.  I got down to 12 inches before it was too deep to use the pick.  The bottom of the hole at that point was solid rock.

It was lunch time so I went back inside and fed the pets.  I had a ham  sandwich - the last of the ham.  After that I put the cats away and Lucy and I went to Lowe's for a spud bar.  I drove the truck.  It's covered with pollen even though I just washed it a few days ago.

I wasn't sure Lowe's would have one, but they did.  It's a 16 pound "San Angelo Bar".  It cost $33.  I wasn't going to make any more progress without either that or a jack hammer.

I stopped at Academy to look for a replacement for the fleece shirt Cooper destroyed.  No luck, they've shifted to summer clothes.  I also stopped at the post office and the diet ice cream store.  I deserved it.

When I got home I got out the rest of the tools and went to work on the hole.  I dug 10 inches in an hour.  I had to break rock the whole way.  Luckily the rocks weren't solid.  They were just 8 to 10 inch rocks that I had to break into pieces. It was hard work though and I ended up with a nasty blister on my right palm.  That's even though I was wearing heavy gloves.  I stipped because I just couldn't do anymore.  I'll have to finish the last 2 inches tomorrow.

I put everything away and went inside for a shower and a beer.  No need to do exercises today.  I took the dog to the mailbox and then fed the pets.

I watched TV for about an hour and then had some frozen food for dinner.  I have to eat some of it because it won't all fit in the trailer's freezer.  The rest of the evening was TV, too.  I'm sick of surfing.
