Day 1864

We got up about 8, did the pet stuff and had breakfast.  Lucy shit her bed last night, so that had to be cleaned up.  As soon as all of that was done I went over to the apartment and got the boxes to put the Christmas tree, lights, and ornaments in.

Ellen started on that job while I went outside to fix the Traeger.  I started by looking for the missing bolt.  No luck.  Then I took the insides of the grill out because I thought I'd have to take the pellet feed apart.  They were filthy.  It took a while, but I found a bolt to replace the missing bolt.  That's when things went to shit.

Melissa came out to say she'd left the front door open and both cats had gotten out.  I dropped everything and went out to look.  I found Cooper almost right away.  He hadn't gone very far and didn't try to run away when I found him.  No sign of Devon.

All four of us looked for hours, walking all over the property and calling his name.  I think everyone walked the entire property at least twice.  About 2 I gave up and went back to fixing the Traeger.  At that point I thought Devon was coyote food.  I sifted through all of the pellets to make sure that the bolt wasn't in the hopper  There was no need to take apart the feed because it was enclosed.  Then I spent quite a while cleaning the grill and the inside.

I was just starting to put things away.  I was walking back from the well house when Melissa said Devon had been inside the house the whole day.  Apparently he has a new hiding place we're not aware of.  That was really good news.

We all met at the house.  We told John and Melissa that we'd take them to a very late lunch because they worked so hard trying to find Devon.  We went to the restaurant in Belterra.  The assholes in Austin have closed every restaurant in Austin until the 3rd.

When we got home Melissa played games while the rest of us surfed.  After a while she went to the apartment to paint.  Ellen watched chick flicks on her computer while John and I watched Roadkill for hours.

About 9:30 John went home I surfed for thee rest of the evening.
