Day 1882

We got up at 8, did the pet stuff and had breakfast.  Ellen had a doctor's appointment at 10:30, so she killed time with Scooter.  I did some shopping.  One of the items I ordered was delivered today.  Amazing.

Traffic was light again.  Maybe the Chinese flu has one good effect.  We were a little early.  Ellen was out by 11:30.  We stopped at the post office and Mickey D's on the way home.  When we got home I backed up the truck to the new trailer.  When I hooked up the lights everything went crazy.  Nothing worked the way it should.  I had no idea what was wrong.

I asked Ellen to look up 4 and 7 pin pinouts while I went to the garage to work on the cargo rack.  That didn't go any better.  It turns out that the bikes are too long to fit on the rack.  I don't know how I missed it.

I had Ellen come out to help me by holding the bike.  Eventually the two of us came up with several ideas to solve the problem.  None of them worked.  I'm going to have to relocate the chocks by using brackets.  I'll also have to raise them by mounting them on spare sections of the center post.  Crap.  I'll get the brackets tomorrow, but I won't be able to do anything else until Lowe's gets me the post.

I was discouraged when I was finished.  I had high hopes of accomplishing quite a bit today.  Until it was nothing but backward steps.  When I got back in the house I looked over the pinouts Ellen found.  It turns out that the color code used by the 4 pin trailer connector is not the same as the color code used by the 7 pin truck connector.  Of the four wires in the box three are connected wrong.  I wouold have gone out to fix it, but it was raining.

I spent the rest of the day and evening surfing, shopping, and game playing.  Ellen fixed chicken for dinner and watched chick flicks.  She doesn't really watch them, she plays with scooter while they are on the TV.  Sometimes she "watches" the same show more than once.
