`Day 570

It was a typical boring travel day - that's good.  We got up a little before 8, ate breakfast, and started to pack up the trailer.  All that went smoothly, including all of the tire gauges talking to the receiver.  We got out at 9.

Traffic on 1604 was OK until we got about two miles from I10.  Then it slowed down, but it didn't stop.

We listened to the book on tape that we'd been listening to on the way back from Las Vegas.  It is really entertaining.  We only had to make 1 gas stop and averaged about 10 MPG.  The trailer and truck are really loaded.

The tire alarm went off for high pressure on three of the 4 wheels.  Apparently it goes off at about 88 PSI.  The readings were as high as 92.  I'm not sure if that is a problem.  It was interesting to note that the tire temperatures on the sunny side of the trailer would be 10 or more degrees hotter than the shady side.

We only had to make 300 miles today, so we were at the park by about 3.  It's about 5 miles outside of town, so we unhooked and went into town.  It's really two towns.  The old town has a lot of historical buildings and just about all of the store buildings are vacant.  The I10 business loop has the typical mile or so of gas stations, fast food, car parts stores, hardware stores, and even a small grocery.  We drove through everything and paid $275 for diesel 40 cents more than it should have been.

I took a nap when we got back to the trailer.  About 5:30 we went to the restaurant at the park to eat.  The food was pretty good and inexpensive.  The place was crowded.  After that we went back to the trailer.  Ellen surfed and I watched TV.

I took the dog to the dog park when it cooled off.  She wasn't interested in running at all.

The rest of the evening was surfing and reading.
