Day 580

We got up at 7:30 today, packed up the trailer, and hit the road.  We started a little before 8.  The first 25 miles were on back country roads getting back to I84.  It would have been a fine drive except for the farm equipment.  We had to pass 3 combines and a tractor at various points along the way.  Of course they slowed us down before we got a chance to pass.

We topped off the fuel and turned onto I84.  The trip on the highway was uneventful.  There was only light traffic and NO CONSTRUCTION through Boise.

We planned to stop for fuel on the other side of Caldwell.  As we pulled into the station some asshole zoomed his car in front of us even thought there were other empty pumps.  Then he got out of his car, held a conversation with his passenger, and walked into the store.  I backed the trailer up, drove around him, called him a couple of choice names as he came out of the store, and got back on the freeway.  We ended up filling up a few miles down the road at a station in the middle of nowhere.  The fuel cost 20 cents more.  It was kind of worth it though, because across the street was a store selling "soup, sandwiches, and guns".

To that point we got 14 miles to the gallon thanks to a loss of altitude and a tailwind.  We got over 12 the rest of the way to Baker.

When we got to Richland we set up including the sewer and the Directv antenna.  Ellen really likes having the satellite TV.  We were just about to go see Dan when he knocked on our door.  He came in for awhile, then left to run the dogs.  We went into town.  I stopped at the HW store for a set screw.  Unfortunately they didn't have one.  Then we went to the liquor store and bout three bottles of booze.  Someone was having a yard sale, so we bought a couple of small items.  Finally we bought drinks at Thorny's.

After that we went over to Dan's and talked on the porch with Dan and Patsy until about 6:30.  Then we went to the shorthorn for dinner.  It was packed.  It was Mexican night, but they'd run out of Mexican food.  So we ordered off the menu.  I took well over an hour to get served.  The food was really good, though.

After that we went back to Dan's for about an hour.  Then we went home at 9:30, 10:30 our time.  The rest of the evening was a little TV.
