Day 1285

We got up at 7 and were on the road at 8.  It was cold and windy, but no rain.  Did I mention windy - 20 mph north wind that lasted all day.  It cost us.  The mileage today was mainly 8.5 mpg.  It caused us to make an extra fuel stop.

The road out of Grand Island was rough.  It stayed that way for maybe 60 miles.  Then it smoothed out for the most part with some rough patches.  Traffic wasn't a problem.  I think I passed two vehicles and only got held up by slow people once.  The road turned to shit in South Dakota though.  It was miserable until we got to I90.

We got to the campground after almost exactly 8 hours on the road.  That works out to 54 mph.  That's pretty good considering the extra fuel stop and all of the podunk towns that we had to drive through.  It also included driving through Grand Island, Broken Bow, and another smaller town with stop lights whose name I forgot.

The campground is really nice except that the sewer connection is so far from the water and electric that I'd have to buy two more hoses to connect to it.  Hopefully we won't use the toilet much.  The campground toilet is a short walk away.

After setting up we went to Wally World to buy Velcro and aluminum foil.  We filled up with fuel and went home.  It was 5 their time and 6 our time.  Dinner was Rudy's sausage and mac and cheese.

Ellen wants to go to the badlands.  We passed them on the way here.  We could have stayed there if she'd just mentioned it.  We'll end up driving 50 miles back on I90 tomorrow to get to them.  Crap.

The campground serves breakfast in the morning.  We'll eat there and then leave.
