Day 1791

I woke up at 6:45 and decided to get up.  I had breakfast and then we packed up to go.  Hooking up went easily because I followed the youtube instructions.  We were on the road by 7:40.

The drive was as usual - long and boring.  The problems didn't start until we got to El Paso.  We stopped at a place just before El Paso for fuel.  We hadn't been there before.  It was half a mile off I10 and impossible to get in to.  We had to drive 2 miles on an arterial to get back on I10.  Every light along the way was red.

Then we tried a place we'd been to before.  It only had two diesel pumps.  One was broken and the other was blocked by some asshole.  We waited for about 15 minutes for him to clear.  Then I backed out and left.  We went to the place across the street finally got some fuel.

The El Paso traffic started just over the border.  It didn't end until mile post 38.  There were several really slow sections.  Traffic was heavy the whole way.  When we finally got out of town there was heavy truck traffic for 50 miles.  It was the same old slow down, speed up game.

We had to wait quite awhile at the Border Patrol checkpoint.  They just waved the trucks through.  The good news is that they all got so far ahead that I never had trouble with them again.

We got the the park at 5:00.  Due to the screwed up time zones I'm not sure how long it took us.  Ellen calculated 10.6 mpg for the day.

We didn't unhook.  Dinner was leftovers.  The evening was surfing and endless competitive cooking shows.
