I woke up at 8 and played games until about 9. It was a gray day, nothing like the last two. I did the pet stuff and had breakfast. Then I got out the soldering stuff.
This was supposed to be a quick job. Hah! I needed to put a new connector on the ESC for the JEEP. The wires are blue and yellow, not red and black. I spent at least an hour trying to find out which is which. I finally found a post that seemed to indicate yellow was negative. So that's what I went with.
The second problem was the connectors I bought didn't match the ones in the Jeep. That meant that in addition to the ESC connectors I had to change the battery and motor connectors. I also had to make a couple of conversion wires so I could still use the old ESC.
After that was all done I put new connectors on a battery and the ESC for the Ryft. All in all it was a lot of wire prep, soldering, and heat shrink. To finish up I glued the tires to the rims.
As I was putting stuff back in the garage I walked out to check for packages. There were two. One had the ESC and motor for the new chassis I bought. The other had the shocks and new servos for the Jeep. I went back inside and put the shocks on the Jeep. Then I put the new servos on. Neither job was hard, but they were both time consuming. I will have to do a little more Dremel work on the rear steer to make the new servo fit.
I still have several hour's work to complete the Jeep. I have to install the new electronics and then program the transmitter and ESC. After that it's FINISHED. I'll probably do that before going back to the Ryft.
All of that took the whole day and part of the evening. I spent the rest of the evening surfing.
