I woke up at 8:30 and immediately got up for pet stuff and breakfast. After breakfast I spent some time redoing the wiring on the Jeep. It wasn't hard, but it took time. The result is exactly what I wanted. The Jeep is now officially finished. The mods I made were:
4 new shocks, new tires and wheels, front axle and servo, two upgraded servos, ESC, receiver, motor mount and motor. The cost of the parts was $220.65. I only spent $160 for the original Jeep. For that much I could have built a super scx 24 out of parts. I did end up with two micro micro servos, a rear end, an ESC/receiver and transmitter, and some extra screws. I may give some of it to the nephew to sell.
After that I went out to move gravel. I did 11 or 12 loads. I put it all on the west rut because I don't want to haul gravel on loose gravel. It takes more time as I have to haul the gravel farther. I think I have enough gravel to finish the west side and do a little more on the east side. I'll need at least 2 more tons to finish everything. I'll probably order 5 more tons.
When that was done I went back inside. I was going to work on something RC related, but I got sidetracked figuring out how much I spent on the jeep. It was a lot, $370. I got further sidetracked by figuring out how much I'd have spent if I built it out of parts instead of buying an RTR. That came out to $300. Crap. It was fun doing all of the research though.
Ellen spent a lot of time in the garage today painting. She figured out what she was going to do to paint the Ryft. Then she painted one of the pieces. It looks great, but the paint peels off if you look at it funny. When she was done I had her cut my hair. It looks a lot better.
I spent most of the rest of the day and evening surfing. Dinner was a TV dinner. After dinner it was more surfing while Ellen watched chick flicks.
A part came to the mailbox at 9 PM. I went out to get it. It's a reel for a winch. I played around a little to see how it would fit. It looks promising, but I'm going to need to do a lot of Dremel work.
