Day 3593

We woke up about 8 and played games for a while.  Then it was up for breakfast before going out to hook up.  We only had 200 miles to go to San Angelo, so there was no hurry.  We left about 9:30.

Just like yesterday the trip seemed longer than it was. The first half was on state highways and the second on I10.  The only downside was there was a really strong west wind.  This held mileage to about 8.4 for the whole trip.  We stopped at Junction to get BBQ at Cooper's BBQ.  I've always wanted to stop there.  It wasn't busy, so we made a quick and out.  There was even lots of convenient parking.

Everything was going well until we got about 3 miles north of Welfare.  The tire alarm went off.  One of the tires was losing air fast.  Fortunately we were half a mile from an exit.  Unfortunately it seem like there wasn't any civilization there.

It turned out that there was exactly one business, a farm trailer rental place.  I went inside and asked the one guy working there if he could help.  He said he would.  It took him about half an hour to change the tire.  I asked how much he wanted and he said no charge.  I didn't like that answer and gave him $100.

While the tire was being changed Ellen found a Discount Tire (?) in Boerne that had a replacement.  We drove there.  It took about an hour to get the new tire installed.  I got another 14 ply tire.  The cost was only $56 because they'd sold us the tire that leaked.  We ate Cooper's BBQ while we waited.

I think the reason that the tire leaked was because it was on the same side as the tire that blew in St. George.  It looked to me like the tire was about to come apart.  We were lucky all around, pulling off and finding someone to fix it and then driving 15 miles down the road and getting a new tire.

We got back on the road at 2:30.  We got lucky with the San Antonio traffic and had no problems getting to the park.  When we got there we set up and then recovered from doing it in the 95 degree heat.

When we recovered we went to What a Burger again.  This time because I wanted a Dr. Pepper shake.  When we got back I watched videos for a while and then took the dog out.  Ellen went to the bedroom and refused to do anything.

It was another early bedtime.  I'm tired.
