Day 2875

It wasn't the best of travel days.  We got up at 7.  That's when Ellen mentioned that we'll be going to Arizona, which doesn't believe in daylight savings time.  We fed the pets and went back to bed for an hour.  After that we got up, ate breakfast, and went out to hook up.

Hooking up went well and we hit the road south.  The road itself was good.  Unfortunately there were quite a few morons who couldn't drive the speed limit.  We'd finally get in front of one and in a short time catch up with another.  We still made fairly good time though.  The mileage sucked though, under 9.

Things got worse when we crossed into Arizona.  The road changed from fairly nice to almost impossible a we crossed the border.  The road surface was so rough that I had to slow down to between 50 and 55.  The ride still shook us and the trailer pretty badly.  It didn't help that one of the tire sensors doesn't seem to work which makes me worry about that tire.

Fortunately the road smoothed out after we turned another highway.  There were less idiots and hills, too.  The bad news was the 25 mph headwind.  The mileage got progressively less, getting down to below 7.5.  That's as bad as going up emigrant hill.  We had that wind for 150 miles.  I had to stop for 10 extra gallons of fuel.  At least it was cheaper than in Moab.

We got into Page about 1 their time, two our time.  To top things out a motor home pulled in just in front of us.  The asshole parked right in front of our campsite to unhook his toad.  He couldn't pull forward 15 feet so we could park.  We had to wait until the jackass unhooked and cleared our spot.

We had over 10 gallons in the tank when we got to the park.  The truck had said that we wouldn't have made it without the extra 10 gallons and I believe it.  We only went 275 miles at 8.4 mpg, probebly the worst I've had on a leg with the new truck.  After unhooking we went into Page.  I filled up the truck and then we took Abby to the town dog park.  She had a great time doing retrieves and playing with another dog.  I even got her to do her first fetch.  It wasn't polished, but it was nice.

After that we stopped at a tourist trap just to look.  Then it was home to put up the Star Link.  Then it was videos until dinner (chicken and rice).  After dinner was more videos before going to bed.
