This is another late post.
I spent the morning looking for someone to buy a water softener from. I sent out a couple of inquiries through websites. One of the people called back withing 2 minutes (I'm nor exaggerating) of the time I posted. He came out at 4:00.
It turns out that our water is about twice as hard as I thought it was - 65 GPG. That's way past "extremely hard". It also has a lot of salt in it and a whole lot of sediment. The water softener he was selling was hugely expensive - $9,000. It comes bundled with a reverse osmosis system for the kitchen sink.
I'm sure that the whole thing was very overpriced. He offered to install it for free, do a sanitizing flush of the pipes, and install our new kitchen faucet as part of the deal. He also financed the thing for 60 months at 0%. So we bought it.
I was really feeling buyers remorse after he left.
