Day 174

We stayed in bed for awhile this morning, we were both tired. When we did get up, I got started on spraying the weeds. Some of the thistles were quite big. The previous owner had just cut them occasionally. That just gets you strong thistles. Some had stalks over an inch in diameter. I didn't get everything done, chiefly because I quit after two and a half hours.

Ellen started painting the living room in the apartment. It's going to look good. She only made slow progress for the same reason I did. She quit after two hours.

After lunch we went shopping/exploring. First we went by the post office and mailed off the tax returns and my health insurance application. Then we went to the town of Bee Cave, about 10 miles to the northwest. The town is really two shopping centers. One is sort of a both sides of the street strip mall. It had Lowes, Best Buy, PetSmart, OfficeMax, etc. in it. It also had a yuppy grocery store where we bought a couple of things. There was a consignment furniture store where I bought a desk fountain for $10. We also stopped at Best Buy and I picked up a couple of Blu-Ray disks that were on sale.

Then we went across the street to the sort of outdoor mall that you see in California. It was anchored by a Dillard's. It had several also common mall clothing stores. There were also some nice eating establishments. We stopped at a dog boutique shop and a rug store. We saw some nice rugs, but they were expensive.

While we were there Dan called. I couldn't help mentioning that it was 73 degrees and sunny. I may delay our departure a little. I'm not sure I'm ready for early May weather in Oregon.

When we got home I finished up the trim around the apartment's front door. I must say that it looks pretty good for a first effort. Of course anything looks better than an unfinished surround.
