We went down to San Antonio to the Alamo today. It's about 85 miles one way. The trip down was OK except for some unexplainable backup a few miles north of 1604. It was about two miles long and didn't seem to have any cause. I should have gotten off on the frontage road immediately, but I didn't. By the time I did so, we were almost at the end of the jam.
The Alamo was just about the same as the last time we went there. However, they don't let you go through any of the side rooms any more. That's too bad.
After the Alamo we went to the River Walk (of course). We walked along the river and ate lunch at a place with tables by the riverside. That allowed us to feed chips to the ducks. There were quite a few of them, along with pigeons, Texas starlings, and some sort of small junk food birds. A couple of the ducks were brave enough to come up and eat out of our hands.
I bought a t-shirt in honor of us obtaining Texas residency this year. I've paid my last 5 figure tax bill to the state of Oregon. It's a quote from Davy Crockett when he lost his election in Tennessee: "You may all got to hell, and I will go to Texas". I find that appropriate.
I also bought a cool t-shirt from Hard Rock. Like I need any more t-shirts. I just couldn't resist.
The trip back was quick and uneventful. I stopped at the Hyundai dealership to get a cabin filter for the car. We were all tired when we got home, so the evening was movies, surfing, and reading.
