Day 853

I woke up at 7:30, turned over and went back to sleep until 8.  then it was a little surfing before getting up for pet stuff and breakfast.  It was cooler this morning, but I went out right away to work in the garage.  I was a little sick, headache and tiredness, but I wanted to get it done.

It took until 11 to finish the electrical and put everything away.  The main problem was that I couldn't get close to either of the boxes.  That meant I had to lean out from the ladder to do all of the wire stripping and connecting.  It was a real pain in the ass.  The good news is that everything worked when I was finished.

I can't say the same thing for the outside gate keypad.  I tested it when I was done in the garage and it was still busted.  I wasn't feeling well, so I decided to do a little surfing and have lunch before tackling it.

After lunch I went out to the gate.  The damn thing is supposed to slide out of the mount after removing two screws.  No such luck.  I had to pry it out with a screwdriver.  I had to be really careful not to break anything.  After several trips back and forth from the house to look at the instructions I got it off.

I replaced the batteries, but that didn't fix the problem.  So I dug out all of the literature.  I finally had to reset the device and reprogram it.  Luckily that worked.  At least reinstalling it was easy.

When I was done with that it was time to do errands.  Doggy stayed at home because it was sunny and we weren't going anywhere that was dog friendly.  We stooped at HEB for much needed groceries and then the post office.  We also stopped at Costco for water and batteries (the keypad used the last AA's).  The last stop was CVS to transfer my prescription.  I should have more drugs tomorrow.

We got home just in time for Ellen to leave for Dripping Springs.  I did some surfing and then took the dog to the mailbox.  The evening was TV and reading.
