I wok up at 8:30 - couldn't get to sleep last night. I stayed in bed for awhile because I found some interesting things on the internet. Then it was pet stuff and breakfast followed by installing the bathroom door door guide.
This went all wrong. First, I couldn't just screw in the mounting screws because there was metal flashing in the way. Then there was a nail directly where one of the holes needed to go. When I finally got the screws in the door interfered with the bracket. I'd measured correctly, but the tolerances were so tight that when the door was moved out a little by the bracket it interfered.
That required a trip to the garage to grind down the two bolts that hold the rollers. Then I found some narrower nuts to further reduce the height of the bracket. All of that took quite a bit of work. When I was finished I reinstalled the bracket and the door no longer interfered.
I would have been finished except I got elegant. The piece of metal that I added to engage the door guide causes a "bump" when the guide rolls over it. I decided to grind a ramp on the end to minimize this. Of course that took time, and then I had to repaint the metal. That meant I had to wait until the evening for the paint to dry before I could finish everything. The result looks pretty good, but It sure would have been better if the door was an inch wider.
After lunch we went out. We needed cat food. The first stop was Circle C where Lucy did 25 long retrieves. Then we stopped at Tomlinson's. We're looking for a new brand to settle on, so we bought a single can of two types. Then there was a quick stop at HEB for lunch meat. After going to the post office we stopped at the pet store by Fireman's and bought another cat food brand. Then it was home.
I surfed for awhile and then did my exercises. After that I got the metal guide, attached it to the bathroom door, and hung the door. Because the guide interfered with the bracket the door wouldn't go back on. It took me some frustrating minutes to figure out what was wrong. When I was done it was apparent that I needed another metal guide on the outside of the door. I finished installing the door anyway. I'll install the second guide in the next few days.
Ellen fixed red beans and rice for dinner. After dinner was reading and TV.
