Day 152

Something really weird happened today.  When I went out to get the paper there was a raccoon by the gate.  It was acting really strange.  It totally ignored me and kept walking around in really small circles.  There was clearly something wrong with it.  Luckily Lucy didn't see it.  I got Lucy inside and talked to Ellen.  We decided that the racoon had to go.  I took out one of the shotguns.  The racoon hadn't moved.  It was still walking in small circles ignoring me.  So I put it out of it's misery.  Then I got a shovel and put it in the garbage can.  The truck emptied the can about 2 minutes after I put the raccoon in it.  Great timing.

After that it was time to get the truck licensed in Texas.  We took all of the paperwork to Dripping Springs and $200 later we had Texas plates.  We drove directly to the insurance agent and transferred the insurance.  It was actually about 1% cheaper then Oregon.  This surprised both us and the agent.

We ate lunch at Cheddars and then went to Circle C.  It was 49 degrees, cloudy, and windy.  Lucy had a good time anyway.  When we got back to the truck we noticed that she had two clumps of prickly pear spines in her nose.  When we got home we took a picture of her and then spent quite awhile pulling them out.

I decided to finish putting together the viaduct pillars.  I discovered what made them hard to put together.  The small sides weren't straight.  If I straightened them out they went together much better.  Things went much easier today than they did yesterday.

Ellen found a really interesting estate sale in Buda tomorrow.  I'm going to get up a little early to go to it.
