Day 159

I sent off an email to PSA today.  They didn't reply immediately, but that's not surprising.

We took the dog to the vet today.  The good news is that the swelling on the leg isn't any bigger.  That tends to indicate that it's not cancer.  The bad news is that it isn't much, if any, smaller.  We are still waiting on the blood tests.

After the vet I decided to drive down I35 to the hobby store.  The ramp from 290 to I35 was a parking lot.  So I took surface streets.  Unfortunately, so did a lot of other people.  It took quite awhile to get southbound.  When we did, we saw that the northbound lanes, and the northbound frontage road, were parking lots.  Ellen looked on the web and saw that it was jammed up from Austin to Buda.  I'm not sure what happened, but it must have been major.

I got some basswood for the viaduct and Ellen got some paint.  We got some root beer at Spec's and stopped at Pet Smart for the dog.  Then we ate at a Chinese buffet there.  It was great and not very expensive.  We'll be going back.

On the way back Ellen wanted to pick up the mail.  The northbound traffic seemed to be moving, so I got on the freeway.  Big mistake.  After about 3/4 of a mile it was backed up again.  I got off and the frontage road was backed up also.  I ended up driving across on Stassney to Congress.  Congress was backed up, too.  I finally made it to the post office, but it was a long haul.

When I got home I cut the basswood and glued it to the viaduct.  It worked well.  Tomorrow I'll do some painting.
