I forgot to do a writeup yesterday.
I started out the day all gungho to work on the layout. So after breakfast I went out to work on it. The problem was, I had to do a lot of prep work. I had to move several of the supports on the upper mainline. Of course each one had to be resized. I also had to fit the viaduct and drill wire holes in the top and base. Unfortunately in doing that I broke part of the base away from the pillars. So then I had to reglue them.
I also had to glue the pillars for the curved viaduct. They were a pain because the track was already laid. I should have done that first.
I had to use the dremel to cut a slot for the wires at the end of passing siding 2. That was another thing that would have been easier to do before the track was laid. I also used the dremel to fit the retaining walls to the ends of the viaduct.
I did manage to lay the mainline track on the west side and the west siding. That was a real pain because of the need to fish the wires through several closely spaced levels of benchwork. It took a lot of time and effort for a relatively short length of track.
After all of that I just didn't want to work on the layout anymore. I'd spent hours doing pain in the ass things and hadn't accomplished much towards getting the track laying finished.
After lunch we went to get the mail and take the dog to Circle C. She hadn't been anywhere for two days and she deserved an outing. She seem a little subdued today, but she still put in significant miles. After that we stopped at HEB for a few things and then went home.
I really didn't want to do any more work on the layout today, so I just surfed for about an hour and then went to pick up the mail. There was a letter from the census bureau. It's a warning that we have been "randomly selected" to have them pry into our lives. Wonderful. Apparently a big questionnaire is coming.
