Day 1369

We got up at 8.  After pet stuff and breakfast I went straight out to the shed to work.  Did I mention that it was raining?  Fucking Oregon.

I had to spend a lot of time looking through all of the boxes that we'd put in the shed.  We hadn't labelled the contents of any of them.  I opened them and then made labels to tape on them.  Once that was done I started putting things in the trailer.

I started by taking all of the plastic boxes out and putting them in the front section of the trailer.  They weren't affected by the rain and I was hoping that the rain would stop by the time I got them loaded.  Fat chance.  In fact, it started to rain a little harder.  When I got finished filling up the front section I covered it up with a tarp.  I decided to plan on it raining tomorrow.

I kept hoping it would stop raining.  So I loaded the truck cab with stuff that couldn't take rain or that was delicate.  It kept raining.

The next step was to tie the front part of a tarp to the back of the trailer front station.  That way I could take out cardboard boxes and have them protected by the tarp.  I worked for quite awhile stacking boxes under the tarp.  When I couldn't fit anymore under the tarp I tied the back end down.  There was still about 5 feet of empty trailer left.

Because I didn't have another tarp I started putting the reloaded ammo in the back of the truck.  I put all of it in plastic bags.  Of course that slowed things down considerably.  When that was done two of the shelf units were empty, so I put then in the trailer.  Fortunately the rain stopped about that time.

I got Ellen out for the first time - I'd been working for over four hours.  I had her stack the shot bags in the trailer as I bought them out.  I didn't count, but I'm sure there were 15 - 20 of them.  They all got wrapped in plastic, too.

After that it was lunch time and a short rest.  Then we went over to the club and opened up the safes.  I removed all of the ammo.  We also found the jewels that we thought we'd lost.  Yeah.  Finally I got all of the stuff that we'd stacked on top of the safes.  When we got back I emptied the third shelf and put it in the trailer.  Then we moved all the ammo from the safe into the trailer.

The final effort was to stack a few more boxes on top of the ammo.  Then we covered it with an old car shelter roof, sort of like the one in Texas.  We tied it down with rope and a couple of ratchet straps.  The trailer was loaded.

We went to Gervais to get the mail and a tarp or something to cover ammo stacked in the front of the truck bed.  We ended up buying frozen food for dinner also.  When we got back I decided to cut a couple of scrap boards into new shelves.  They'll replace the cheap warped ones that had been on the shelves.  I might as well, otherwise the boards will be thrown away.

While I was doing that Terry stopped by.  He ended up buying all of my 12 ga wads for $150  and 4 bags of #9 shot for $140.  I was happy.  The shed is now a lot emptier.

My last task was to drain the tanks.  It looks like the black tank has pretty muck recovered from my letting it run dry by leaving the valve half open.  After that I went inside, started dinner, and took a shower.  I was really tired and very sweaty.

After dinner there was a little TV and surfing.  It was early to bed.  I have to get up at 4:30 tomorrow.  Someone was supposed to come by and buy the muck boots, but they didn't show up.
