The good news was that the new garage light works great. The bad news was that the yard light burnt out last night. So the first thing this morning was to get out the ladder and remove the bulb. It's this really weird fluorescent one. I could have just gone straight to Home Depot or Lowe's for a new one, but I decided to do some mowing instead. The day was cloudy but humid. A breeze was making it tolerable.
Things started out OK, until I shut off the blades to back up. When I tried to reengage, the belt had slipped off. This happened three or four time despite my trying to adjust a pulley to tighten the belt. Each time it happened I had to drive back to the garage, jack the mower up, take off a guard, and then put the belt back on. I tried to use the "backup button" so I wouldn't have to shut down the blades when backing, but it didn't work. I finally figured out that if I engaged and disengaged the blades really slowly the belt stayed on.
It took me over 2.5 hours to mow the front yards, the side yard and the back yard. By the time I was finished it was more humid, the temperature was 86, and the wind had died. I would have had to move vehicles to finish the rest, so I called it quits, took a shower, and had lunch.
After lunch we went out to get a light bulb. We stopped at the Post Office (it's shut today) and then Home Depot. Home Depot didn't have the right bulb. That didn't bother us too much since the guy that lived her before was a Lowe's fan. Sure enough Lowe's had the right bulb. It only cost $10. On the way home we stopped at HEB for a much needed grocery trip. They had a special where we bought a ham and got a free turkey. Sweet.
When we got home I put in the new bulb. We'll have to see if it works tonight.
It's 5 o'clock now and the temperature is 84 with 60% humidity. Outside is miserable. I'm surfing and watching TV tonight.
