Day 38

We went to a gun show in New Braunfels today.  It was pretty good.  I actually bought something, an 870 .410.  Ellen found it.  I'll use it on starlings next summer.  I got an OK price on it.

After the show we went to the farmer's market.  It had quite a few stalls, but nothing that interested us.

The next stop was lunch in the restaurant of a hotel near the courthouse.  They even had Guinness on tap, and for only $4.  It was really good.  We'll be back because there are some other things on the menu that I want to try.

While we were walking to the hotel I noticed a leather shop across the street.  So after lunch we went there.  It's a custom leather place with great stuff and good prices.  We bought a couple of western style purses for the nieces.

The next stop was the bakery on the square.  We got a couple of things for dinner.

We decided to walk the two blocks of downtown.  There was a railroad museum at one end.  It had some cool displays as well as a steam switcher, box car, dining car, and caboose.  You could walk through all of them, including the locomotive cab.  It was neat.

On the way home we stopped at Wells Fargo to replenish my cash.  Traffic on the way up sucked.  We suffered through at least 3 traffic jams.  The last was a half mile jam caused by some shithead waling on the side of the freeway.

The last stop was Target to get a timer for the new tree.  I also got an alligator LEGO.  Then it was home.  When I got the mail there was a bill for $450 for the blood test I got at the doctor.  The insurance won't pay for it because I got one in the spring.  Crap.

There's a gun show in Dripping Springs this weekend also.  I think I'll go tomorrow.
