Day 508

I got up when the alarm went off again today.  I surfed for a little while and then got up to do the pet stuff and have breakfast.  After that it was a little more surfing before I went out to the garage to work on the RRA upper.  Ellen started the wash.

Apparently RRA uses loctite on everything.  I couldn't get the muzzle device off until I got the hair dryer and heated it up.  Then it came off easily.  I was surprised that the gas block set screws didn't have loctite.  That's because they used it on the block itself.  I had to heat it up to get it off.  When I got it off I discovered that they hadn't dimpled the barrel.  That will make lining it up again a little difficult.

That was as far as I got.  I'll need the wrench and heat gun I ordered yesterday to get the rest of it apart.

After that I used an old piece of scrap wood to make a base for the Lee press.  It was kind of a pain in the ass because I needed to recess the nuts.  I did manage to get it done and the result should be usable.  The press is really old and they don't make the primer accessory for it anymore.  Getting one will cost half as much as a hand priming tool, so I'll probably do that instead.

When I was finished in the garage I did my exercises and then went in for some lunch and surfing.  After lunch we went to the pet store to get some cat food.  They were out of it again.  We also stopped at the bank to cash my big $20 rebate check from buying batteries for the truck.  I wasn't going to run the dog, but she really wanted to.  We stopped at the soccer field and she did 25 really long retrieves.  Some of them were close to 100 yds.  All were 70 or so.  The last stop was the post office.

When we got home it was more surfing.  At 5 I took the dog to the mailbox.

In the evening we watched random TV shows and I did some reading and surfing.
