Day 455

I woke up with the alarm this morning - practice for the next 2 days.  It was cold - 17 degrees.  I stayed in bed and surfed for awhile, but not long.  I wanted to get the reloading stand finished before the class started.  So I did the pet stuff, had breakfast, and went out to the garage.

The apartment was fairly warm.  The garage was not.  Of course the first thing I needed to go was cut the shelf in the garage.  I did that and then went into the apartment to fit it on the stand.  I quickly discovered that I had to partially disassemble the stand to do that.  Then I discovered that I needed to do some fine tuning on the shelf cuts.  So it was back out to the garage to do the tuning with the Dremel.

After that I stopped and did my exercises.  I was so hot after that that I decided to attach the shelf in the garage even though it was cold.  I was cooled off by the time that was done.  Then I folded up the shooting stand and put it away.

When I moved the stand back into the apartment it was a perfect fit.  I couldn't stop there, so I mounted the Dillon on it.  When I weighted the sand down with 12 ga cases it seems like it will work well.  I didn't stop there.  I took the RCBS off the work bench and attached it to the stand also.  I'm going to be glad its not in the way when I'm working on the bench any more.  The end result looks like it will work pretty slick.  I'll have to see.

By then it was about 1 o'clock, 25 degrees, and windy.  I went inside and had lunch.  About 3 we left for Dripping Springs.  We took the dog and ran her at the soccer fields.  Then we went to the class at "Hog Heaven".  The place is sort of like Top Gun - a guy with cubic money built himself a playground.  There's a trap field, a skeet/trap field, and two 5-stands.  There's also room for a sporting clays course.  There's a pistol range, and there might be a rifle range.  There's a lake and a large lodge with a swimming pool.  There's also a group of cabins and two bunkhouses.  Like I said, cubic money.

We tried to shoot some practice, but with the freezing temps (literally) and the wind we only shot 20 birds apiece.  Crap.  I was planning on having some fun.

The class is more about Christianity than it is about shooting.  There was a lot of Bible reading and hymn singing.  The hymns all seem to consist of 10 to 12 lines repeated over and over.  After awhile it got pretty monotonous.  It was interesting to see how some of the people really got into it.  I guess the older folks were Jesus freaks who grew up.

The whole thing lasted until after 9.  I was really tired of God talk by then.  When we got home the yard light was burned out.  Something to fix on Monday.  I realized that I hadn't turned on the heater in the trailer.  I went out to it and found that the kitchen faucets were frozen.  I turned on the heater.  I hope there's no permanent damage.  It will be Monday or Tuesday before I know for sure.

We went to bed soon after that.  All three animals were anxious to sleep with us.  It's cold.
